An Ultimate Move is a special technique that is performed when a Hero, Villain, or Vigilante uses their Quirk to turn the tide of battle and make a big impact on the opponent.
Description#
The function of any Ultimate Move is to provide an advantage to the user in hopes of them winning the battle. These techniques are usually unique to a person, and it should push the limits of one's Quirk to exploit the aptitude of a fighting style. Ultimate Moves do not have to be attacks, they simply must give the user an advantage over their opponent. Ultimate Moves can be offensive, defensive, or supplementary depending on the user's Quirk.
Examples of Ultimate Moves include Tenya Ida's Recipro Burst technique and Kamui Woods' Lacquered Chain Prison.
While named Ultimate Moves are a staple of Heroes, who deliberately create them as part of their training,[1] Villains are less likely to have them, instead merely focusing on direct attacks without naming them. The majority of villainous Ultimate Moves either come from Villains who were formerly Heroes, or believe themselves to be acting heroically, such as Starservant or Gentle Criminal. Alternatively, some Villains copy their Ultimate Moves from Heroes, either directly or in inspiration, such as Dabi's Flashfire Fist or Twice's Sad Man's Parade.
Some Ultimate Moves are created through the combination of two Heroes' Quirks and skill sets. This results in an Ultimate Move that is more powerful than a Move either one could perform alone. Examples of Combination Ultimate Moves include Izuku Midoriya and All Might's Double Detroit Smash and Ochaco Uraraka and Tsuyu Asui's Meteor Fafrotskies.
