Amplivolt

ArticleSource revision

This article is about the character. For his Meta Ability, see Amplivolt (Quirk).

Amplivolt[1] was a member of the Meta Liberation Army, and later joined the Paranormal Liberation Front as one of the top-ranked advisers in the Vanguard Action Support Regiment: Brown, following the merging of the Meta Liberation Army and the League of Villains.

Appearance#

Amplivolt is depicted as a tall, heavily scarred man. His face and body bear prominent burn-like scars, giving him a rugged, battle-hardened look. He dresses in a dark suit and a pink shirt with brown stripes and a brown tie. He is often seen with electrified gauntlets or a taser weapon. He has black hair with a yellow lightning bolt-shaped streak, similar to Denki Kaminari, though the latter's hair has inverted colors.

Personality#

As a Vice Commander of the PLF, Amplivolt is brash, confident, and eager for battle. In the first war against the Heroes, he urges the Villains to begin the attack immediately, declaring that they had been waiting for Tomura Shigaraki and it was time for the "Liberation Revolution" to start. He displays little hesitation or fear, asserting that the heroes' numbers are insignificant and vowing to unleash his full power, reflecting his combative, single-minded loyalty to the PLF's cause.[2] He also likes to smoke.

History#

Paranormal Liberation War Arc#

When the heroes begin their raid on Gunga Mountain Villa, Amplivolt is present and sees that the heroes have already gained some ground. He reacts by suggesting to Skeptic that they need to escalate their tactics, acknowledging that the heroes have caught them off guard.

As the situation intensifies, Amplivolt steps forward and declares that the Paranormal Liberation Front's numbers don't matter, because he's ready to unleash his Meta Ability, Amplivolt, at full power. He tries to overwhelm the heroes by using his Ultimate Move: Supreme Discharge: Thundernet. However, the attack is absorbed by Chargebolt through his Electrification Quirk.[2] Surprised, Amplivolt recognizes Chargebolt as the Electrification Quirk user and prepares to overpower Chargebolt's voltage limit.

Fortunately, Edgeshot appears and attacks Amplivolt along with several other PLF members using Thousand Sheet Pierce, piercing small holes in their lungs and leaving Midnight the opportunity to put them to sleep with Somnambulist.[3] Later, Amplivolt was among the 16,929 warriors of the PLF arrested.[4]

Abilities#

Overall Abilities: As a top-ranked adviser in the Vanguard Action Support Regiment: Brown, Amplivolt's strength and power surpasses that of the average Pro Hero, being able to launch attacks that most heroes can't full on evade without the proper Quirk.[5]

Meta Ability#

Amplivolt: Amplivolt's eponymous Meta Ability allows him to conduct and amplify electric energy before discharging it by powering up with an external source of energy. Though he does not seem to be capable of producing his own electricity, he can increase his power output to immense levels by using several energy sources at once.[3] However, his electric attacks are vulnerable to being negated, as shown when Chargebolt absorbs it using Electrification.[2]

Ultimate Moves#

Supreme Discharge: Thundernet: After absorbing electricity from a taser, Amplivolt fires a powerful electric blast that can be used against several opponents at once. Amplivolt used this move on the heroes raiding Gunga Mountain Villa, but it was absorbed by Chargebolt before it could cause any damage.[2]

Equipment#

Taser: Amplivolt carries tasers with him in order to use his Meta Ability.[2][3]
