Flashfire Fist

ArticleSource revision

Flashfire Fist is an Ultimate Move performed by Endeavor, Shoto, and Dabi using the Hellflame, Half-Cold Half-Hot, and Blueflame Quirks, respectively.

Description#

The user raises their fire's temperature to its highest level and maximizes their power. By doing so, they can unleash devastating flame attacks or increase their speed dramatically. Flashfire Fist condenses flames into a white-hot point and is meant to act as a one-hit finisher. Several variations of the Flashfire Fist move can be performed, each with a different form of attack.

Flashfire Fist is Endeavor's signature technique. He is first seen using it several times against the High-End Hood. Such use of the move raises his body temperature drastically; a glaring weakness when using this technique.[1] He also used this move when battling Starservant as a counter to the Villain's Enlightened Fallen King.[2]

During the Paranormal Liberation War's Jaku Hospital Raid, Endeavor used this move to defeat multiple Nomu with his Jet Burn and clear a way for the rest of the Hospital Raid Team.[3]

Endeavor used this move again during the Liberation War to power his Hell's Curtain, Hell Spider, Prominence Burn, and PLUS ULTRA Prominence Burn, all in an effort to take down a newly awakened Tomura Shigaraki.

During Mission: Humarise, Shoto first uses his father's signature technique to perform another shared Ultimate Move, Hell Spider, when invading the secret Humarise base in order to destroy laser beam turrets. He again uses Flashfire Fist to perform his own unique Ultimate Move of Jet Kindling when clashing with Leviathan, burning up the Trigger-enhanced Villain from the inside and defeating him.[4] He later uses the same move against Dabi during the Paranormal Liberation War.[5]

During the same event, Dabi revealed he had learned the technique as well.[6] He had been able to do so without direct long-term training from Endeavor thanks to his eidetic memory from watching his father online to memorize all of the Flame Hero's techniques and Ultimate Moves. He used this move to fuel his Jet Burn and Prominence Burn.

During the Final War, Dabi used this move to power his Hell Spider and Jet Burn when facing Shoto and the Flaming Sidekickers.

Shoto, upon later development and mastery of his Quirk in preparation for the Final War, formed a unique form of Flashfire Fist by merging his ice and fire into one ability.[7][8] This form of Flashfire Fist, called Phosphor, uses "cold fire", primarily to prevent himself from getting burnt by, and gain an advantage over, other fire-based Quirks. This technique requires a certain amount of concentration to maintain; otherwise, it can falter.[9]

Dabi was able to copy this technique with his eidetic memory after his first defeat during the Final War, when his Quirk underwent something "different" from an Awakening and allowed him to manifest ice from Rei Todoroki's Frost. Despite being unable to utilize the ice in combat and it only having served as a desperate attempt from Dabi's body to cool himself down whilst on the verge of death, this made Blueflame a Quirk somewhat similar to Shoto's Half-Cold Half-Hot, and allowed the Villain to reinvigorate himself and his flames with his own version of his youngest brother's Phosphor. He used it once warped to Endeavor's location in Gunga by Kurogiri.

Endeavor#

Jet Burn: Endeavor shoots flames out the back of his fist to propel it forward and delivers a powerful blow to the enemy. This was first seen used against Hood.[10]

Hell Spider: Endeavor shoots streams of fire out of his fingers to burn his enemy. The flames take a form similar to a spider's web, hence the name. The flames are hot enough to burn through Hood's muscles and dice a building apart.[11]

Prominence Burn: This attack allows Endeavor to launch a massive, concentrated beam of fire from his entire body that is able to vaporize his target.[1][12]

Hell's Curtain: Endeavor throws both of his fists back while concentrating all of his flames into a single point. He then throws his arms forward, throwing a massive blanket of flames onto his opponent.[13]

Shoto Todoroki#

Hell Spider: Shoto concentrates his flames into white-hot points on his fingertips and emits beams of fire to slice through his target.[4]

Jet Kindling: Shoto focuses and concentrates his flames into a white-hot point on his fist and punches his opponent. On contact, a violent explosion of flames burst out of Shoto's arm, severely burning his target.[5]

Phosphor: Shoto circulates both halves of his Quirk throughout his body, merging the fire and ice into one ability. This Ultimate Move also serves as a basis for other moves Shoto uses.[8]

Dabi#

Jet Burn: Like Endeavor, Dabi unleashed a powerful blast of fire at the enemy, although unlike his father, Dabi only shot his fire out in a punching motion rather than directly striking his opponent. This was first seen used against Shoto.[14]

Prominence Burn: This attack allowed Dabi to launch a massive, concentrated beam of fire from his entire body that was able to vaporize his target.[1] Dabi nearly used this move at full power against Endeavor but was intercepted by the sudden arrival of Best Jeanist on the battlefield.

Hell Spider: Dabi shot streams of fire from his fingertips, scorching his opponents.[8]

Phosphor: Dabi copied Shoto's Ultimate Move, originally designed to combine fire and ice into one attack, and instead used it to reinvigorate himself and his flames after Shoto's attempt to cool him down.[15]

Trivia#

  • Dabi was the only Flashfire Fist user that didn't possess a unique variation of the move, with all of his having been taken from his father or youngest brother.
