Vanishing Fist is an Ultimate Move performed by Endeavor and Dabi using the Hellflame and Blueflame Quirks, respectively.
Description#
As the name implies, Endeavor shapes his flames into a large fist around his hand and delivers a powerful punch with explosive impact.
Endeavor first used this when he took advantage of the fire created by Katsuki Bakugo's Grenadier Bracers that hit Tomura Shigaraki. He struck Tomura's body with the flaming fist and nearly defeated the wounded Villain.[1]
During the Final War, Endeavor used Vanishing Fist in both his hands to barrage All For One. The attack was so ferocious that the heat passed through the Villain's Hardflame Fan.[2] He also used a fist of fire to replace his own arm when it was severed in that battle,[3] combining it with Jet Burn to amplify its destructive power even further.[4]
Later in the Final War, Dabi is shown to have learnt the move as well. In this version, Dabi explodes his right arm and creates a fist of fire in its place, hurling it towards Endeavor.[5]
Related Techniques#
Vanishing Jet Burn: A combination of Jet Burn and Vanishing Fist, Endeavor forms a giant fist using his flames and blasts his opponent away with great force.[4]
Trivia#
- This Ultimate Move may be a reference to the Gamera franchise where several Gamera incarnations used the technique of the same name since the 1999 film Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris, in which Gamera lost his right arm before activating the attack. Gamera is also a heroic character who has an affinity to fire and flies by emitting jets of fire and plasma energy from his limbs.[6][7][8]
- The side-effects of this move when used by Dabi differ in the anime. In the manga, Dabi's arm is destroyed in the process of using the move, disintegrating as the fist is thrown. Conversely, in the anime, the arm survives to the conclusion of the attack, but crumbles away shortly afterwards.
