Rikido Sato, also known as the Sweets Hero: Sugarman, was a student in Class 1-A at U.A. High School, training to become a Pro Hero.
Eight years later, Rikido has graduated from U.A., becoming a Hero alongside his classmates, and currently works as a Sidekick for Wash.[2][5]
Appearance#
Rikido is a tall, very muscular young man with a broad build. His brown hair is short and spiked upwards away from his head. He has relatively tiny, square-shaped eyes with small black pupils and a pair of bushy eyebrows just above. Rikido bears huge, thick lips, slightly darker than the rest of his skin, and a large, round nose.
At U.A., he wears the standard male uniform: a light gray blazer with dark turquoise trimmings over a white dress shirt, dark blue-green dress pants, a red tie, and plain brown shoes.
Rikido's Hero Costume consists of a yellow full-body suit covering his body, the only exceptions being the holes around his mouth, eyes, and hair. He wears white gloves, boots, and a utility belt around his waist, storing small quantities of sugar inside its pouches.
Eight years after the end of the Final War, Rikido has grown taller and bulkier, with small tufts of hair on his forehead and a sleeker jawline with light stubble around it. His costume remains mostly the same, with the differences being he doesn't wear a full body suit, losing the mask, his gloves have more jagged edges, boots are now brown with white soles, an updated belt, and white straps around both his thighs with gray knuckle dusters-like items attached to them.
Personality#
Rikido is interested in sweets and baking, a valuable skill due to his Quirk.
He is surprisingly talented at making sweets conquering his classmates with his food. The fact that this overly optimistic reaction caught Rikido off guard suggests that he doesn't think much of his abilities as a confectioner.[6] Nevertheless, every week in the dorms, Rikido bakes sweets and shares them with his classmates, which he calls "Sugar Time". To create a gourmet night, he pairs his sweets with Momo Yaoyorozu's tea. He can cook other food, too, as shown during the Christmas party.
Abilities#
Overall Abilities: Thanks to his Quirk, Sugar Rush, Rikido is a straightforward fighter who takes advantage of the temporarily augmented physical might granted by his power to punch his way through obstacles and enemies. During the U.S.J. Incident, thanks to Ochaco Uraraka running interference against Kurogiri, Rikido and Hanta Sero were able to successfully subdue the villain even further. His abilities eventually garnered the attention of the Lion Hero: Shishido, allowing Rikido to intern under the No. 13 Pro Hero and improve his flurry of attacks and the ability to read ahead of situations.
Gastronomic Talents: Rikido excels in baking and preparing cakes and other sweets. This talent was developed due to his Quirk needing sugar to be activated and store-bought sweets being more expensive.
Quirk#
Sugar Rush: Sugarman's Quirk allows him to increase his strength five-fold for three minutes. To activate his Quirk, he needs to consume 10 grams of sugar. When converting sugar into strength, his cognitive functions gradually drop, making him sleepy afterward. For every additional 10 grams of sugar he ingests, he extends the time of increased strength by another three minutes.
As part of his training, Rikido engaged in weightlifting while consuming large amounts of sweets to increase the augmented physical strength his Quirk granted.
Ultimate Moves#
- Sugar Rush:[4] Rikido consumes sugar to increase his power and unleashes a flurry of punches.[7]
- Sugar Knuckle: Rikido strikes his opponent with a powerful straight punch, sending them flying backwards.[8]
