Heaven-Piercing Ice Wall

ArticleSource revision

Heaven-Piercing Ice Wall is an Ultimate Move performed by Shoto using the Half-Cold Half-Hot Quirk.

Description#

Shoto uses his ice powers to create a massive ice ridge in order to either freeze[1] or block[2] his opponent with its large size. He can control the size and shape of the ice wall to some degree.

Shoto first used this move against Hanta Sero during their match in the U.A. Sports Festival, though it was while in an enraged state.[1] When he used this technique against Katsuki Bakugo later in the same event, Shoto created a much more controlled version.[3]

Shoto used this move again during the First Term Final Exam to block off Eraser Head at Momo Yaoyorozu's command.[2]

Shoto also used this move during the I-Island Incident to protect Eijiro Kirishima from an attack by Nobu.[4]

After his Quirk training under the Wild, Wild Pussycats, Shoto was able to produce a massive wall of ice multiple times against Mr. Compress, though none of them succeeded in stopping the Villain.[5]

During his round of the Joint Training Battle, Shoto used this move as an opener to immobilize the members of the Class 1-B team, however this was ultimately foiled by Juzo Honenuki's Softening Quirk.[6]

When facing Cider House alongside Katsuki, Shoto used this move to encase the criminals and the wave of carbonated water they were surfing on and flooding the streets with to commit their theft.[7]

During the Paranormal Liberation War, Shoto used this move in a vain attempt to stop the spread of a newly-awakened Tomura Shigaraki's Decay.

During Class 1-A's fight to bring Izuku Midoriya back to U.A., Shoto uses a version that resembles a shape more akin to an actual wall against the One For All user.[8]

During the Gollini Invasion, Shoto used this move in another futile attempt to stop the spread of Dark Might's Alchemy Quirk from turning the area into his Symbol of Paradise. In the first battle against the Villain alongside Deku, Dynamight, and Giulio Gandini, Shoto used this move in an attempt to encase or stall the Villain, but Dark Might was able to punch through it with his alchemically enhanced body.[9]

Trivia#

  • This technique was originally called Giant Ice Wall by Momo during her and Shoto's battle with Eraser Head. However, when asked about the name of his move during the Hero Interview Training, Shoto refers to this move as "Heaven-Piercing Ice Wall".[10]
  • According to Momo, this technique is considered to be Shoto's signature move from the Sports Festival.
  • Heaven-Piercing Ice Wall is featured as a technique for Shoto in Jump Force.
