History#
Before starting at U.A., Tsuyu Asui's mother and father had to travel for work often, which gave them little time to raise their young children. Tsuyu was left with the responsibilities of raising Samidare and Satsuki, such as making dinner for them. Although it was tough raising her younger siblings, Tsuyu still found her life to be wonderful.
Two years ago before starting at U.A., Tsuyu's hero studies at her middle school piled up and she didn't have much free time for herself. Tsuyu's busy schedule, as well as her frog-like appearance, made it difficult for her to make friends. During her time at middle school, there was a student who started stalking her named Habuko Mongoose, who also had difficulty making friends. Habuko often used her Quirk, which paralyzed whoever she looked at for three seconds, on Tsuyu. Despite this, Tsuyu wasn't bothered by Habuko's stalking because she could understand her as they were both lonely.
One day, Tsuyu mustered up the courage and finally asked Habuko to be friends. Habuko was surprised and touched by Tsuyu's kindness, before happily agreeing to be friends with Tsuyu. Eventually, Tsuyu and Habuko graduated from their middle school, and while they went to different high schools, they kept in contact.
The day after U.A.'s semester began, Tsuyu receives a message from Habuko which states that she made new friends at her new high school, and she will introduce them to her. Even though they ended up going to different high schools, Tsuyu notes that she will always be friends with Habuko. Tsuyu decides that, like Habuko, she will make lots of friends at her new high school as well.[1]
Synopsis#
Quirk Apprehension Test Arc#
Tsuyu first appears alongside the rest of Class 1-A on the first day of the term. Shortly after the start of class, Class 1-A is brought to the exercise grounds by their homeroom teacher: Shota Aizawa. He informs the class that they must all undertake a Quirk Apprehension Test and whoever comes in last place will be expelled immediately.[2]
When Tsuyu takes part in the 50-meter dash, she races against Tenya Ida, who finishes before her due to the speed of his Engine Quirk.[3] She finishes the race in 5.58 seconds and eventually places thirteenth overall in the class.[4] Tsuyu is then seen discussing with the rest of the class about the kind of man Shota Aizawa is.
Battle Trial Arc#
Tsuyu is paired with Fumikage Tokoyami for the combat training.[5] After the first battle trial, All Might grants Tenya Ida the most valuable honors. Tsuyu questions this since Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco Uraraka were the victors. Momo Yaoyorozu explains why. Once training finishes, All Might gives the class some positive reinforcement. Tsuyu thanks him for this because she feels like their homeroom teacher is quite the opposite of positive. When Izuku returns to class from the nurse's office, Tsuyu introduces herself to him as "Tsu".[6] She along with Ochaco and Mina are seen together watching Izuku and Katsuki talking outside of school. Tsuyu tells Ochaco that she wonders what's going on.
U.S.J. Arc#
While deciding who should be class president, Tsuyu mentions that Tenya's voting system may not work since the class hasn't known each other long enough. She votes for herself to be president but Izuku and Momo end up winning the honors.[7] Later on, Shota announces to the Class that they will partake in rescue training at an outside facility. Tsuyu mentions to Eijiro Kirishima that she's excited to show off her skills in the water. Tsuyu receives her hero costume and chooses to leave her goggles behind and boards the bus.
During the bus trip to the outside facility, Tsuyu tells Izuku that his Quirk reminds her of All Might. However, Eijiro argues that Izuku's Quirk injures him while All Might's does not. Eijiro goes on to say that Katsuki Bakugo and Shoto Todoroki have the most pro-worthy Quirks. Tsuyu replies that Katsuki's too angry to become a popular pro, causing him to yell at her and prove her point.
Class 1-A arrives at the Unforeseen Simulation Joint, where they meet the Space Hero: Thirteen. Thirteen explains she developed the U.S.J. with the focus on training future heroes on using their Quirks to help others. Suddenly during Thirteen's speech, real villains invade the facility through a warp gate.[8]
Shota fends off the villains on his own and leaves Thirteen to evacuate with the class. They prepare to escape, but they are cut off by the villain Kurogiri. Katsuki and Eijiro attack him, but end up dealing no damage. Kurogiri responds by warping the class to the various areas in the U.S.J.
Tsuyu, Izuku, and Minoru Mineta are warped to the shipwreck zone where they are met by villains. Izuku is nearly killed by Bye-Bites underwater, but Tsuyu rescues him by kicking the assailant in the face. She uses her quick swimming skills and her tongue to swiftly bring Izuku and Minoru out of the water and onto the boat. Izuku thanks her for saving his life and she reminds him again to call her "Tsu". They discuss the villain's plans and Minoru mentions that the villains can't kill All Might. Tsuyu argues that the villains likely have a plan in mind and that they need to focus on surviving. The villains in the water start rushing towards the ship. Minoru panics, but Izuku encourages his allies to be heroes because it's up to them to save All Might now.[9]
Tsuyu and Izuku deduce that the villains must've collected information on the U.S.J. and gathered villains who would have advantages there. However, they also figure out that the villains likely have no idea what the students' Quirk and skills are. While Tsuyu and her allies strategize and share information on their Quirks, one of the villains uses an aquatic Quirk to cut the ship in half. Minoru starts freaking out as the ship sinks and Tsuyu questions whether the hero track is right for him. Izuku remains clam and creates a plan for them to escape.
Izuku jumps from the ship and uses a Delaware Smash on the water to create a giant shockwave. On his signal, Tsuyu grabs Minoru and jumps from the ship. She grabs Izuku with her tongue while Minoru uses throws sticky spheres from his Quirk at the villains. The aftermath of the shockwave causes the water to rush back to the middle, trapping the villains there because of Minoru's Quirk. As they escape the shipwreck zone, Tsuyu commends her allies by telling them they did an amazing job.[10]
As they leave the water, Tsuyu asks Izuku to stop muttering and second-guessing their plan as he complies. At first, they agree to escape towards the exit, but Izuku decides they should help Shota against the group of villains in the central plaza. They soon arrive there to find Shota facing off with Tomura Shigaraki, the villain's ringleader. Exhausted from fighting, Shota ends up at the mercy of Tomura and his super-powerful ally: Nomu.[11] Tsuyu, Izuku and Minoru watch in horror as their teacher is taken down, but they notice Kurogiri tell Tomura one of the students escaped. They assume the villains plan to escape, but Tsuyu admits to Izuku that she has a sour feeling about this.
Just then, Tomura suddenly decides to attack the group and nearly destroys Tsu's face. Fortunately, Shota uses his Quirk in time to stop Tomura for the time being. Izuku uses the opening to attack Tomura in order to save Tsu, but his smash attack is nullified by Nomu's swift defense of Tomura. Nomu attacks Izuku and Tsu moves to save him, but they are all rescued by the arrival of All Might.[12]
All Might grabs Shota and entrusts his unconscious body to the students. Tsuyu, Minoru, and Izuku carry him towards the exit until Izuku rushes back to support All Might.[13] Following the battle with the League of Villains, Class 1-A meets up outside the facility and are debriefed by Detective Tsukauchi. Yuga Aoyama tells Tsuyu it's a secret where he got warped to. She ignores him and asks the detective about the condition of Shota and Thirteen.[14]
U.A. Sports Festival Arc#
When classes resume for Class 1-A, Mina asks Tsuyu who she believes will teach the class. Tsuyu replies she has no idea since Shota is still in the hospital recovering from his injuries. She's proven wrong when Shota greets the class covered in bandages. He uses the class time to explain that the U.A. Sports Festival is fast approaching. During lunchtime, Tsuyu's classmates express their excitement in anticipation of the festival. Tsuyu takes notice of Tenya's dancing and compliments him. The most excited person appears to be Ochaco, who proclaims to the class that she'll do her very best. Tsuyu and her others cheer her on as she yells about doing her best.[15]
Tsuyu uses the two weeks before the festival to train. She uses one of the school's indoor pools to practice by catching toy fish underwater using her tongue. When the day of the sports festival arrives, Tsuyu listens to Shoto's proclamation in Class 1-A's waiting room. Afterwards, she accompanies her class for the opening ceremony.[16]
The first event is revealed to be an Obstacle Race. When the race begins, Shoto tries to freeze everyone trailing him.[17] Tsuyu manages to avoid the ice and eventually reaches the second leg of the race: "The Fall". She quickly traverses through the obstacle by balancing herself across the tightropes. Then Tsuyu carefully makes her way towards through the minefield rather than trying to jump across it. She takes notice when Izuku detonates various minds in order to propel himself into first place. Tsuyu manages to finish the Obstacle Race in thirteenth place, qualifying her for the second event: The Cavalry Battle.[18]
Tsuyu teams up with Minoru and Mezo Shoji for the Cavalry Battle. She and Minoru use their compact bodies to hide underneath Mezo's tentacles while riding on his back. When Mezo attacks Team Midoriya and Team Tetsutetsu, Tsuyu uses her tongue to try and steal their points. They are both able to avoid her, so she commends Izuku's impressive moves.[19]
Soon after, Minoru's points are mysteriously stolen and he cries over it. Tsuyu admits she wouldn't have teamed up with him if it wasn't for his clever plan. She adds that like him, she has no idea how Minoru's points got stolen. Mezo goes into attack mode and attacks Team Midoriya and Team Todoroki. Shoto counters their assault by using Denki's lightning to shock and paralyze all teams around them. Then Shoto uses his Quirk to freeze everyone including Mezo in place. Unable to move, Team Minoru doesn't acquire enough points to move onto the finals. When the event commences, Tsuyu states she's frustrated by her failure but congratulates Mina for moving on.[20]
During the intermission between events, Denki and Minoru manage to fool the girls of Class 1-A into dressing up as cheerleaders. Most of the girls appear to be upset about it, but Toru suggests they roll with it. Tsuyu responds by telling Toru that she's got cheerleading skills.[21] They are all later embarrassed when Mashirao asks them why they're dressed up.[22]
Tsuyu watches the finals from the stands and cheers on Mina during her match with Yuga. Before the bout between Ochaco and Katsuki begins, Tsuyu comments that it will be the match that will be the most difficult to watch.[23] Their match starts with Katsuki blasting Ochaco at point-blank, and Tsuyu notes that Katsuki doesn't plan on holding back.[24]
Shoto eventually defeats Izuku in the second round and injures him. Tsuyu, Ochaco, Tenya, and Minoru go to Recovery Girl's office to check on Izuku's condition. However, they're forced to leave because Izuku is about to undergo surgery. When Fumikage easily defeats Mina, Tsuyu comments that his dark shadow is amazing. Then she notices Ochaco worrying about Izuku and reassures her.[25] Once the festival concludes, Tsuyu and her peers attend the closing ceremony of U.A.'s Sports Festival. They are all given the following two days off to recuperate.[26]
Vs. Hero Killer Arc#
When classes resume at U.A. High, Tsuyu notes that Shota has recovered from his injuries and isn't wearing bandages anymore. He informs the students that they will use the class to choose their hero identities. Tsuyu doesn't receive any offers from Pro Heroes, but she and all of her peers will still need to intern with real heroes. Midnight joins the class to approve the student's code names. Tsuyu presents her chosen hero name that she thought of since elementary school: Rainy Season Hero "Froppy". Midnight commends her for her choice and tells the class to use Froppy as an inspiration. Tsuyu's peers cheer the name Froppy as praise for changing the mood of the class.[27]
Once the class finishes formulating code names, they are all given a list of Hero agencies and have two days to choose which office to intern with. After class, Minoru mentions he wants to intern with Mount Lady. Tsuyu comments that he's having perverted thoughts. She notices Izuku muttering at his desk and tells him he must be thinking hard about where to choose.
Two days later, Tsuyu and her class meet at the train station. Shota reminds them to remain formal and not to lose their costumes before seeing them off to their workplaces of choice.[28] Tsuyu chooses to intern with the Pro Hero Selkie and his sidekick Sirius aboard the Oki Mariner.[29]
On the fifth day of internships, Tsuyu is ordered to clean the deck of the ship. Once she's done, Tsuyu and Sirius share a drink. Tsuyu admits the internship has been boring and Sirius agrees because her internship was the same way. Sirius goes on to encourage Tsuyu by telling her she discovered what was important about being a hero during her time.
Tsuyu asks her to explain, but Sirius claims Tsuyu will find out on her own. Selkie finds them both sitting down and scolds them for not doing work. Sirius corrects him, stating that Tsuyu finished her chores and is being supervised properly. Selkie apologizes and tries to look cute. Sirius berates him for it, but Tsuyu actually finds him adorable. Then one of his crew members informs Selkie that the Oki Mariner has received a mission from the coast guard.
The Oki Mariner departs to investigate a trade ship that had its cargo stolen by stowaways. Tsuyu deduces herself that the stowaways got away from the Coast Guard themselves. Selkie takes to the water himself to search for the ship while Tsuyu and Sirius search via radar during the night. Their search turns up empty, but the crew receives a message that a boat thought to belong to the stowaways is in their general area after escaping another pursuer. Selkie returns to the ship after confirming the location of the boat and they eventually happen upon it. Selkie boards the ship without Tsuyu, much to her dismay.
Onboard the fishing boat, Selkie and a couple of his crewmates are trapped inside after being fooled. Using her Quirk, Sirius hears Selkie tell her this boat was a decoy and they must pursue the real stowaways. They find another boat hiding in the shadows of a large rock and board it. They are immediately attacked by the criminal ringleader: Innsmouth.
Innsmouth wraps his tentacles around Sirius and threatens to crush her if Tsuyu doesn't tell her superiors to call off the search. Inspired by Sirius' words from earlier, Tsuyu gives away their location, angering Innsmouth. The villain attacks and Tsuyu jumps around to avoid his blows. She tries to use her tongue to secure Sirius, but Innsmouth grabs it and slams her into one of the rocks.
Tsuyu is pinned down, but just Innsmouth prepares to finish her off, Selkie arrives to save the day. Innsmouth blinds him, but using his Quirk, he echolocates and defeats the villain. Afterwards, Tsuyu tells Sirius she's discovered whats important about being a hero. The criminals are all arrested and the coast guard thanks Tsuyu for her involvement. Selkie also mentions to them that he believes Froppy will one day become a great hero.[30]
Once the internship week concludes, Tsuyu returns to U.A. High. Back in class, Tsuyu discusses her internship experience with Kyoka and Mina. They find her run-in with drug smugglers very cool. Tsuyu then asks Ochaco about her experience, to which Ochaco replies was very enlightening. Tsuyu notes that Ochaco awakened her fighting spirit with Gunhead's agency. Later on, Class 1-A participates in a rescue training race during Basic Hero Training class. Tsuyu agrees with Ochaco that Tenya will win out of the first group. However, she is surprised and amazed when Izuku shows off his new moves and better control of his Quirk.[31]
Following class, Tsuyu changes back into her uniform in the girl's locker room. Minoru tries to peep using a hole in the wall, but Kyoka stops him.[32]
Final Exams Arc#
One week prior to final exams Tsuyu sits at lunch with Izuku, Shoto, Tenya, Toru, and Ochaco. They discuss both the written and practical portions of the exam. Neito Monoma interrupts when he bumps into Izuku and taunts the class about his run-in with the hero killer. Itsuka Kendo stops him and shares information about the practical exam, believing it will be combat against villain bots. Following the written exams, Class 1-A meets up with the teachers at the central plaza of the Practical Exam Arena.
Shota and Nezu inform the class that rather than fighting villain bots, the class will be paired up and matched up against one of the teachers. The students will have thirty minutes to handcuff the handicapped teacher or flee through the escape gate.[33] Tsuyu is paired with Fumikage against Ectoplasm for the second battle. During Rikido and Eijiro's match with Cementoss, Tsuyu and Fumikage strategize together. When Cementoss defeats them, Tsuyu is surprised Eijiro was defeated so easily.[34] She and Fumikage make their way to the center of a labyrinth where they are met by Ectoplasm and his many clones. He warns them that the teachers are doing their best to utterly crush the students.
Seeing that they are at a disadvantage, Fumikage orders Dark Shadow to throw Tsuyu onto the next floor. Then Tsuyu grabs Fumikage with her tongue and throws brings him up to her level. Ectoplasm comments on their nice synergy.[35] Together, Tsuyu and Fumikage run through the labyrinth while trying to find the escape gate. They are met with wave after wave of Ectoplasm's clones. Fumikage does the bulk of the fighting himself, but whenever he's overwhelmed, Tsuyu is there to support him. They escape to higher floors.
They work together to defeat about twenty-eight clones and reach the final section of the building where they can see the escape gate and Ectoplasm's real body. Ectoplasm commends them for making it past his clones and spawns a giant one to stop them using his Giant Bite Detention technique. Fumikage yells for Tsuyu to avoid it, but they are both trapped outside the clone's body.
Ectoplasm tells them only he can release his clones and asks what they plan to do now. While Dark Shadow fights with Ectoplasm to escape, Tsuyu reveals she swallowed the handcuffs given to them prior to the practical. She gives it to Dark Shadow without Ectoplasm noticing and they clash one final time. Although Dark Shadow is defeated, Ectoplasm's leg is cuffed in the exchange. The duo pass the exam and Ectoplasm congratulates them on a wonderfully clever plan.[36]
Tsuyu accompanies other in watching Izuku and Katsuki's battle with All Might.[37] Following the conclusion of the exams, Class 1-A returns to their homeroom class as scheduled. Shota informs the class that they have all passed the written exam and everyone will attend training camp over the summer. Tsuyu's peers decide it's a good idea to go shopping at the Kiyashi Ward Shopping Mall to buy necessities for the camp.[38]
My Hero Academia: Two Heroes#
Prior to arriving to I-Island, Momo tells Tsuyu and the other girls after school she has two extra invites to the I-Island Expo Preview. After a game of 5-way rock paper scissors, it's decided that Ochaco and Kyoka will attend, leaving Tsuyu unbothered. Momo recalls this when Izuku asks why aren't the girls with them at the I-Island Cafe.
After the I-Island system is hijacked, Mina, Toru and Tsuyu, stay in their hotel room to follow the emergency protocol. Minutes later, Tsuyu discover that the phone service and internet isn't working. Mina finds out the TV channels isn't working either. Toru says that they're "roughing it ladies," and suggests that they play some games instead.
Tsuyu hangs out with the rest of her class after the I-Island Expo opens up.[39]
Forest Training Camp Arc#
On the day of the event, Class 1-A boards a bus that will take them to the forest lodge destination. An hour later, Class 1-A's bus stops for a restroom break. However, Class 1-A notes that Class 1-B is not at the rest stop. There, they meet Pixie-Bob and Mandalay, two members of the Wild, Wild Pussycats, who challenge the students to reach base camp past the forest in three hours. Then, all Class 1-A is forcibly thrown into Beast's Forest by Pixie-Bob's Quirk, which they must traverse to reach their destination.[40]
Class 1-A begins traversing the Beast's Forest, being attacked by dirt monsters created by Pixie-Bob, and the students must destroy the beasts in order to move forward. Tsuyu collaborates with Ochaco to defeat them. Ochaco uses her Quirk to nullify the gravity on one of the monsters, Tsuyu uses her tongue to throw it high into the air and then Ochaco releases it so it falls hard to the ground.[41] Despite their efforts, the journey through the forest to the Cabin takes around about eight hours. Class 1-A arrive at the facility, battered and exhausted. Pixie-Bob admits that she thought they would take longer to get to the facility; she praises Class 1-A for figuring out her Earth Beasts quickly and easily. The Pussycats serve the student's dinner and the students bathe in the hot springs afterward.[42]
Quirk training begins the next morning at 5:30 AM. Shota greets his students and tells them that they will undergo reinforcement training to strengthen and upgrade their Quirks. Tsuyu must work out all the muscles in her body and her long tongue.[43]
On the night of the third day of training, the Pussycats prepare a test of courage to the students of U.A.'s Class 1-A students traverse the forest while Class 1-B students try and scare them in the dark. The members of class 1-A must enter in pairs of two, and Tsuyu has to do the test with Ochaco, who is a little scared, as the fifth pair. Their fun event is interrupted by the arrival of the League of Villains' Vanguard Action Squad, attacking the students and tutors. One of them, Himiko Toga, sneaks up behind Ochaco and Tsuyu and and ambush them.[44] When Shota authorizes Classes 1-A and 1-B to fight back against the villains, Tsuyu and Ochaco are already facing Toga.[45]
Tsuyu and Ochaco are fighting Himiko Toga who managed to slightly wound Ochaco's arm. Himiko notes that her Quirk requires her to make big wounds in order to suck her targets' blood. However, thanks to her machine, her Quirk's weakness is compensated by the machine's ability to drain blood from tiny wounds. Himiko begins to attack, to which Tsuyu responds to by flinging Ochaco away with her tongue. Tsuyu tells Ochaco to run back to the facility and call for help and says that she also plans on retreating with her.
Suddenly, Himiko manages to wound Tsuyu's tongue with one of her knives. Tsuyu tries running away, only for Himiko to pin her hair to a tree with her machine. Himiko prepares to drain Tsuyu's blood, however, Ochaco arrives to Tsuyu's aid which causes Himiko to turn her attention to Ochaco. Himiko attacks with her knife, only for Ochaco to dodge. Ochaco uses the martial arts skills she learned from Gunhead to force Himiko onto the ground.
Straddling Himiko's back, Ochaco tells Tsuyu to restrain her arms. Himiko notes that love stories are fun and uses her machine to stab Ochaco's leg, who was unable to stop her due to being caught off guard with Himiko's talking. Himiko begins draining Ochaco's blood.
Suddenly, the Bakugo Escort Team arrives and sees Ochaco. Himiko stops draining Ochaco's blood and pushes Ochaco aside, not wanting to engage a large group of enemies and not wanting to die. Himiko retreats with Ochaco wanting to follow her, but Tsuyu stops her due to Himiko's Quirk being largely unknown. After seeing that Ochaco and Tsuyu are alright, Izuku asks them to join the escort. However, Ochaco and Tsuyu wonder why Katsuki isn't with them. Mezo, Shoto and Izuku turn around only to find that Fumikage and Katsuki are missing.
Suddenly, a masked villain appears on a tree branch and reveals that he used his "magic" to take Katsuki by turning him into a marble. The masked magician-like villain states that the Heroes don't deserve someone of Katsuki's caliber and notes that Katsuki will shine even brighter on the villains' side. Izuku demands that he give Katsuki back.[46]
Tsuyu helps Izuku, Mezo and Shoto by throwing their weightless bodies at Mr. Compress which allows them to reach him.[47] Tsuyu and Ochaco run to the villains' rendezvous point, only to find out that the villains' succeeded in capturing Katsuki.
Two days afterwards, Tsuyu visits Izuku in hospital along the rest Class 1-A. She hears Eijiro and Shoto's plan to rescue Katsuki, and they ask Deku to join them on that mission, despite Ida's objections, who demands that the rescue of Katsuki be left to the Pro Heroes.[48] Tsuyu Asui understands that everyone is distressed and asks Izuku, Shoto and Eijiro to be levelheaded saying that if they act based on their feelings and break the rules, then their actions will make them as bad as the villains, regardless of how noble their intentions are.[49]
Hideout Raid Arc#
Despite her warning, Izuku and the others come out to rescue Katsuki, and succeed in their goal, leaving All Might to face All For One. Tsuyu watches the broadcast of the battle between All Might and All For One,[50] which concludes with the victory of the All Might over his foe, although it also means his last act as a hero.
Provisional Hero License Exam Arc#
Following Katsuki's rescue and the retirement of All Might, Nezu ordered the construction of the Height Alliance, buildings to house the students, and thus protect them.
When Class 1-A is introduced to their dorms, Shota Aizawa states they must start preparing to get provisional hero licenses like they had planned to during the training camp. Before they can enter, Shota reads the riot act against Izuku, Tenya, Momo, Eijiro, and Shoto for participating in Katsuki's rescue, breaking the rules in the process, and the others who did nothing to stop them from doing it through the proper channels, stating that aside from Bakugo, Hagakure and Jiro, he would have expelled all of them for their actions, if it weren't for All Might's sudden retirement.
Class 1-A arrange their luggage in their respective bedrooms. Later that night, the boys of Class 1-A are in the common space on the first floor. The girls of Class 1-A show up and Mina Ashido suggests a room showcasing competition.[51] Tsuyu decides not to participate in the competition and when it's time to check her room, but Ochaco says that she isn't feeling well so Class 1-A decide to skip her room and enter Momo's cramped room.
After the room competition, at Ochaco's urgings, Izuku, Tenya, Shoto Momo, and Eijiro all meet outside the dorm where they find her with Tsuyu. Tsuyu says that she told Class 1-A at the hospital that trying to save Katsuki out of selfishness would make them no different than the villains. Tsuyu admits that her choice of words was severe and after they actually went to save Katsuki, which shocked her, she regretted her choice of words. Tsuyu became frustrated at her own cowardice and felt guilty in trying to stop them.
Due to her guilt and the rest of Class 1-A's negative feelings towards them as a result of their decision to save Katsuki, Tsuyu became upset at not being able to have friendly chats with them like before. Tsuyu says that she wanted to have this conversation to settle things right and go back to having fun like before. While consoling Tsuyu, Ochaco explains to them that the "Room King" contest was to wipe the slate clean of their actions so that they can start anew again. Izuku, Eijiro, Momo, Tenya, and Shoto apologize to Tsuyu for their actions and for worrying the rest of Class 1-A, mending their friendship.[52]
The next day, Class 1-A begin their school life anew. In Class 1-A's room, Shota Aizawa mentions that their first objective will be earning their "Provisional Hero Licenses". To prepare for the Provincial Hero License exam, Class 1-A students will create at least two signature Super Moves that they will use in combat, with his help and that of Cementoss, Ectoplasm, and Midnight.[53]
After several days of training, the girls relax together in the common area and they comment on the rough training. Toru Hagakure asks about the special moves they have been creating; Tsuyu reveals that her new move is more frog-like than ever before. The group tries to get Ochaco's attention, but her mind is elsewhere. Tsuyu manages to get her attention and Ochaco reveals that her heart has been elsewhere recently. Mina believes that Ochaco is in love, much to Ochaco's shock. Ochaco denies this fact, but Mina pries further. Tsuyu and Momo tell Mina not to pry into another's love life and decide to head to bed.[54]
The Hero Qualification Exam finally starts. Tsuyu, along her classmates, arrives at the test location, where she meets students from other hero schools. The first part of the exam involves thinning out the amount of people who can succeed by playing a game, where people put three marks on their body and are given six balls to throw at the other examinee's marks. Those whose marks have been hit are disqualified.[55]
As the exam starts, the students of the other schools focus entirely on U.A. Thanks to their training and costume upgrades, Class 1-A manages to avoid being hit by the balls. Yo Shindo tells his fellow classmates that he will shatter their solid defense, and uses his Vibrate Quirk on the ground, unleashing a powerful earthquake that completely shatters the ground and and causing members of class 1-A to disperse.[56]
After Class 1-A gets scattered after the customary Crushing of U.A. Tsuyu regroups with Kyoka, Mezo and Momo. In the city area they enter a building after failing to find the rest of their classmates, and here they fall into an ambush prepared by Saiko Intelli, from Seiai Academy.
Putting Saiko's plan into action, her classmates begin by injuring Kyoka by playing loud music near to a wall she had inserted her Earphone Jack into. They then trap the four students in a hallway in the building by welding the metal doors shut and smashing the windows so they turn opaque. After this, they incapacitate Tsuyu by cooling the hallway down excessively using the air conditioning system, causing her to start hibernating due her Frog Quirk. This forces Momo to use her Quirk to make a blanket for Tsuyu, using up some of her finite energy.
Momo comes up with a plan and creates four headphones and a large amp. Everyone puts on the headphones and Jiro connects her Earphone Jack to the amp. Saiko readies her allies to storm the room but is surprised when her rival students counter with a high-frequency sonic waves attack. All of the Seiai students except for Saiko are knocked out.
The Class 1-A students leave the room to find Momo's plan was successful. However, Saiko hides behind the door. She grabs Momo back into the hallway once they enter through it, locking it behind them. After a short fight, Mezo kicks the door down and Tsuyu rushes in and uses her tongue to restrain Saiko. Saiko expresses surprise that they would come back for Momo even after it was likely she was eliminated. Tsuyu, Kyoka, and Mezo explain that they would never leave their friend behind and Momo follows up by saying that's just how Class 1-A is. Impressed by the U.A. students, Saiko admits defeat.
The four U.A. students head for the winner's waiting room, having knocked out at least enough Seiai students for all of them to pass.[57] Once there, they wait for the rest of their classmates, until all the students of Class 1-A pass the first test.[58]
The Second Exam of the Provisional Hero License Exam begins. The scenario is that a city is destroyed by a terrorist attack, and the students are expected to rescue H.U.C employees, acting as victims.[59] Tsuyu performs rescues at the waterfront alongside other classmates, until Gang Orca and his sidekicks arrive, acting as Villains, and attacks everybody.[60]
Tsuyu arrives to help the evacuation effort at the waterfront.[61] When she has the opportunity, Tsuyu joins the group of students who are facing Gang Orca and his henchmen. Thanks to the intensive training before the exam has allowed him to develop a new super move: Camouflage, which allows her to become almost invisible and hide her presence. With this technique, Tsuyu knocks some of the henchmen by surprise when they try to barrage the students using their cement guns. Mashirao asks Tsuyu about the rescue operations, to which Tsuyu replies that the rescue operations are mostly complete.[62]
She continues fighting until the end of the exam is announced, and the provisional hero license exam is officially closed. The results of the Provisional Hero License Exam are presented on the screen, and Tsuyu is one of the students who passes the exam, receiving her provisional license.[62]

Next day to the Provisional Hero License Exam, Shota tells Class 1-A about Hero Work-Studies, hero activities done off campus, saying that it is a more formalized version of the Field Training they did with pro heroes before. Three days later, Tsuyu, along with Class 1-A, is introduced to the people who will teach them about Hero Internships; the third-year students who rank among the top of all U.A. students known as The Big 3: Mirio Togata,Tamaki Amajiki and Nejire Hado.[63]
Upon introducing themselves, Mirio mentions Work-Studies about Class 1-A and challenges them to a fight. Inside Gym Gamma, the entire Class 1-A attacks him, but Mirio manages to defeat the entire Class 1-A alone thanks to his Quirk Permeation.[64]
As Class 1-A recovers, Mirio explains to them how his Quirk works. Tsuyu comments that Mirio's Quirk is very strong, to which Mirio replies that he made it strong. Mirio explains that his Permeation has serious drawbacks, and the reason he is able to use his Quirk easily is by predicting his opponents' moves. Mirio gained these skills through experience during work studies with Pro Heroes. Mirio encourages the first years to participate even if they're scared so that they can grow stronger. Class 1-A applauds Mirio's speech and they realize what the work-study could do for their skills.[65]
Following this advice, she plans to do her Work-Study with Selkie, unfortunately she can't because the school said he doesn't qualify for it, because only Pro Heroes with great accomplishments can take in a trainee. Later, at Heights Alliance, he congratulates Izuku for being at accepted in the Nighteye Agency, although she is disappointed at not being able to do Work-Studies, a situation she shares with Ochaco and Eijiro. Shota arrives and informs that Tamaki wants to talk with Eijiro while Nejire wants the same with Ochaco and Tsuyu, and recommends them to talk to them tomorrow. Eijiro wonders why they want to talk about, and Tsuyu thinks it will be related to Work-Studies. Unable to wait until tomorrow, the three go to the third years' room to ask them.[66]
Thanks to Nejire's recommendation, Tsuyu is revealed to be doing her Work-Studies with Ryukyu along with Ochaco. They defeat a villain together and use a new combo move called Meteor Fafrotskies. Nejire recommended them to Ryukyu and she accepted. Nejire then tells her that both of them were turned down by the field training teachers. Ryukyu then tells them that the Work-Studies will help with their fighting skills and that they might help with "The Case". The Case is to team up with Sir Nighteye's hero office for an investigation.[67]
This causes Tsuyu and his group to end up in a meeting, which brings together several heroes such as Shota Aizawa and Gran Torino; and where she meets with Izuku and Mirio, who were doing their Work-Studies with Sir Nighteye, and with Eijiro and Tamaki, who were doing theirs with Fat Gum. This last three ago had been involved a few days ago in an incident where some lowlife thugs used Quirk Erasing bullets, which is connected to the organization that is investigating Sir Nighteye, the Shie Hassaikai.[68]
In the meeting, Tsuyu learns that the Shie Hassaikai leader, Kai Chisaki, had formed an alliance with the League of Villains. Also, he is the person responsible for the production and sale of the Quirk Erasing bullets. Thanks to Eijiro's brave actions protecting Tamaki, they were able to obtain a bullet with the contents still inside. Fat Gum explains that after examining the contents of the bullet, they discovered that inside the bullet were human blood and cells, which disturbs the U.A. students.
Sir Nighteye explains that Kai has a daughter called Eri, Izuku and Mirio encountered her on their patrol and she had a number of bandages on her. He has no birth certificate and details about her are unknown; but he deduces that Overhaul is probably using his daughter to make those Quirk destroying bullets, which disgusts Eijiro, Ochaco and Tsuyu. However, Sir Nighteye deems the bullet used on Tamaki to be a prototype that disable the Quirk for a few hours, and thus were distributed solely for testing purposes.[69]
With the meeting over, Izuku, Ochaco Uraraka, Eijiro Kirishima, Tsuyu Asui, Mirio, Tamaki Amajiki, and Nejire Hado are sitting at a table downstairs. Izuku and Mirio explain to the others what occurred between them and Chisaki. What they hear reinforces their determination to rescue Eri.[70]
Several days later, she participates in the police raid against Shie Hassaikai, surrounding the organization's headquarters. While the heroes and the police forcer waited outside, suddenly, the gates smash open courtesy of Rikiya Katsukame, and begins to attack them. Ryukyu turns into a dragon, and easily intercepts Rikiya's punch with her draconian claw. Ryukyu orders her Heroes from the Ryukyu Offices to deal with Rikiya and asks the other groups to move on, while she and her team deal with Rikiya.[71]
Ryukyu's group managed to overpower Rikiya and knock him unconscious. Ryukyu orders the Police Force to restrain Rikiya while Nejire Hado, Ochaco Uraraka and Tsuyu Asui prepare to head after Sir Nighteye's group. Suddenly, Ochaco and Tsuyu along with the Police Force become tired due to Rikiya inhaling their vitality, much to Ryukyu's surprise since she thought she knocked him out. Conscious, Rikiya reveals that the drug he took is kicking in which has enhanced his Quirk and now he can absorb a target's vitality simply by inhaling.
Now larger and stronger than before, Rikiya attacks the Police Force only for Ryukyu to take them to safety. 20 minutes pass and Ryukyu's group is in a standstill against the rejuvenated Rikiya. Only Nejire continues to fight against him.
Suddenly, Izuku Midoriya appears and states that he called reinforcements and that their objective is underneath a nearby crossroad. With this information, Ryukyu hatches a plan, transforms into her dragon form, and charges at Rikiya. With the help of Ochaco, Tsuyu and Nejire, she crashes Rikiya against the point indicated by Izuku, collapsing the crossroad, and causing Ryukyu's group along with Rikiya to fall down into underground, in the middle of the battle between Izuku and Kai.
Actually, the Izuku of the surface reveals to be Himiko Toga, who used her Quirk to impersonating him. The objective of the villains is to prevent Overhaul from fleeing with Eri, and take advantage of the bewilderment to snatch the girl, but the plan fails and they are forced to withdraw.[72]
The fight between Deku and Overhaul continues, and Deku finally manages to rescue Eri from Overhaul, accidentally surfacing through the hole. In desperation, Overhaul uses his Quirk to merge with Rikiya, transforming himself into a being of gigantic proportions.
The girls are worried after seeing the monstrous being in which Kai transforms after fusing. A badly injured Sir Nighteye says that Kai won't go after them but going to pursue Izuku with the intention to get Eri back. However, according to his Foresight, Overhaul will kill Izuku. Despite her exhaustion as well as the horrible revelation, the girls refuses to stand by and do nothing. Despite his belief, Nighteye thinks about Izuku's declaration of changing the future. Sir Nighteye asks Tsuyu to tend to Mirio and for Ochaco and Ryukyu to take him up to the surface.[73]
Following Nighteye's orders, Tsuyu finds Tamaki, who was carrying an unconscious Mirio and had just prevented Chronostasis from killing Shota. With the Shie Hassaikai member arrested, she asks Tamaki to come with her to the surface, taking Shota with them, still affected by Chrono's Quirk.
Using Eri's Quirk in his favor, Deku manages to use Full Cowl - 100%, and with that he finally defeats Overhaul. Eri's Quirk undoes the fusion of Rikiya and Kai Chisaki, who is quickly apprehended by Ochaco. However, Eri loses control of her power, threatening to kill Izuku in the process. Tsuyu lifts the injured Shota so that he can see Eri, disabling her Quirk and saving Deku's life.[74]
Eri is finally rescued and put into custody, and the Shie Hassaikai is dismantled and its members arrested. However Sir Nighteye dies hours later in the hospital because due the injuries suffered. In addition, the League of Villains successfully ambush the police escort carrying Kai Chisaki and steal the Quirk-Destroying Drug, retrieving it for their own ends.[75][76]
Remedial Course Arc#
Tsuyu and her classmates had to go through a bunch of inquiries and processes and heal from their wounds before being able to return to Heights Alliance. When they finally arrive, the entirety of Class 1-A greet them, glad that they are alright, checking to make sure they are doing okay, physically and mentally, after their mission.[77]
With the beginning of October, Izuku, Ochaco, Eijiro, and Tsuyu are allowed to go to Sir Nighteye's funeral, along with the Big Three, All Might, and Shota. Due to what happened, they are informed that the Hero Work Studies program is postponed for the moment, so she, Ochaco and Nejire say goodbye to Ryukyu.[78]
U.A. School Festival Arc#
Shota Aizawa announces that U.A. High School will be having the U.A. School Festival and tells Class 1-A to pick out a program to perform at the festival. Tenya Ida asks ideas from Class 1-A; Tsuyu suggests a Frog Concert but her classmates had other suggestions and they do not reach an agreement. Later at Heights Alliance, the students decide to combine several ideas and decide that their school festival program will be a live performance and dance with party space.[79]
Tsuyu was not able to participate in the decision-making process because, as part of the hero-work group, she was busy attending supplementary classes, but she has no problems with the idea of her classmates, being totally committed to participate in, being part of the Dance Team.[80] Until the festival, the dance team constantly practices the choreography devised by Mina. It is also during this time when she knows Izuku's plan to bring Eri to the festival.
On the appointed day, the performance of class 1-A ends up being a huge success.[81] After the dance performance, Tsuyu helps to 1-A clean up the mess and enjoys other attractions with Eri, Ochaco, Izuku, Shota and Mirio, until the festival ends.[82]
Pro Hero Arc#
As November comes to a close, at U.A. in the lounge, Shota reveals that Eri will be looked after by U.A. As Ochaco and Tsuyu welcome an excited Eri, Shota states that the decision for U.A. to look after Eri is because she does not have anyone who can take care of her and because Shota is the only one who can prevent her Quirk from going out of control again. Mirio will also be helping Eri and welcomes Class 1-A to visit her once in a while since they will all be busy.
Then, Shota tells Izuku, Eijiro, Ochaco and Tsuyu to return to their dormitories as they will have visitors, resulting to be the Pussycats, who came to celebrate Ragdoll's reinstatement.[83]
Day later, at the U.A. dorms, Tsuyu and her classmates watch on television a Nomu attack in the city, and she is horrified as it showed Endeavor being overwhelmed by High-End.[84] After Endeavor defeats High End stands up victorious, Shoto collapses to his knees, relieved his father is still alive. Tsuyu along her classmates approaches him to console him.[85]
Joint Training Arc#
Tsuyu participates in the first round of the Joint Training Battle. She lead the Class 1-A team, formed by Eijiro Kirishima, Denki Kaminari, and Koji Koda against Class 1-B team, formed Ibara Shiozaki, Kosei Tsuburaba, Hiryu Rin, and Jurota Shishida. Hitoshi Shinso from Class 1-C is added to Class 1-A's team. Tsuyu ask Hitoshi to explain his Brainwashing Quirk strengths and weaknesses. He does it, but the match begins shortly afterward, and Class 1-A's Team 1 laments they didn't get to form a proper plan. They decide that regardless, they'll have to fight to win.[86]
As Class 1-A moves through the battlefield, with Tsuyu using her Camouflage. Suddenly, Jurota, carrying Kosei on his back, attack them and smashes her and Eijiro. After a short scuffle, Hitoshi manage to stop Jurota with his Quirk,[87] but being at the same time trapped by Kosei's Air Prison. During the following skirmish, Tsuyu Asui managed to capture Kosei and takes him to prison, being persecuted by Jurota. Jurota decides to stop pursuing her, and captures Eijiro and Koji before retreat. Hitoshi is released from the Air Prison and apologizes for his lack of battle readiness, but Tsuyu counters with her own apology, saying that is her fault for putting him in the front lines besides his lacking experience.[86]
The remaining trio devise a plan to defeat Class 1-B. With her mucus, Tsuyu manages to fool Jurota's sense of smell, Denki uses his Sharpshooting Gear to locate Class 1-B' team, and acts as bait, helping Tsuyu and Hitoshi get into place unnoticed. Hitoshi gets into position within the maze of pipes, and waits for his opportunity to strike. He calls out to Ibara with his voice changer, mimicking Hiryu's voice. Ibara responds, falling victim to Hitoshi's Brainwashing.
Hiryu asks Jurota for their opponent's locations but, afraid to speak, Jurota simply points vaguely in their direction, avoiding responding in words in case it was Hitoshi attempting to brainwash him again. Hiryu tries to wake Ibara out of her brainwash by shooting his scales, but Tsuyu picks her up with her tongue and moves her out of his range. Hiryu asks Jurota for Tsuyu's location, identifying her as the greatest threat. Before he gets an answer from the paranoid Jurota, Tsuyu quickly returns and dropkicks Hiryu.
Jurota finally locates Hitoshi and tries to defeat him, but before he has a chance, Tsuyu throws Hiryu straight at his head and knocks them both out, saving Hitoshi. Thanks to this, Class 1-A wins the first round. As the remaining members of the 1-B team are put in the jail. Tsuyu praises Hitoshi, saying he is incredibly strong, but he replies he must become a pro with his own[88]
After the battle, Shota Aizawa asks his students what they learned from the battle. Tsuyu regrets letting the battle turn into chaos and that two of her teammates ended up being captured at the very beginning despite the team's efforts. Shota tells Tsuyu to focus on learning from her mistakes.[89]
After the match, Tsuyu watches the remaining rounds and celebrates with her classmates Class 1-A victory in the Joint Training Battle.[90] Despite their victory over Class 1-B, there are no hard feelings, and both classes hanging out together after the exercise, happily socializing in the common area.[91]
My Hero Academia: Heroes: Rising#
During fall, the Hero Public Safety Commission devises the Hero Work Recommendation Project, to help to train the new generation of Heroes due All Might retirement. Weeks go by, and shortly after winter begins, after the Hero Interview Training, Class 1-A is sent to Nabu Island, a remote place in southern Japan. The Pro Heroes who protected the island are about to retire, so the students will take care of the place, performing duties as real heroes acting like their own "Hero Office", until the arrival of new Pro Heroes.
Because Nabu Island is quite isolated from the rest of the country, and therefore far from any villain activity, there has been no notable incident since the last thirty years. For this reason, their work on the island basically involve mostly minor deeds. Tsuyu works as a lifesaver on the beach with several of her classmates. Mezo spots a kid in trouble. Tsuyu dives into the water to help grab him while Rikido rows the boat to save the boy. Rowing up there exhausts Rikido a lot, so when he picks up the boy the latter starts crying, much to Sato's confusion. Tsuyu tells him the boy is scared of his exhausted face.
The next day, Tsuyu returns to her duties on the beach, along with Mezo, Mashirao, and Fumikage. But that day Nine and his gang attack the island, and the four students confront his henchman Chimera. Tsuyu is tasked with evacuating civilians from the beach while her classmates fight the villain. Later reinforcements arrive to fight against Chimera and help her in the evacuation. Tsuyu, along with Ochaco, Koji and Mezo, evacuates all the civilians from the place. Then they see a gigantic hologram of Deku asking for help, which was created by the Quirk of a girl named Mahoro.
Tsuyu and the other three run to the place of origin of the hologram, finding the defeated Izuku and Katsuki, Mahoro and her younger brother Katsuma, and the villain Nine and Slice. Nine orders Slice to get the kids, but Tsuyu and her classmates uses their Quirks to save everyone. Ochaco taps Deku and Katsuki and Tsuyu carries them together with her tongue, while Mezo and Koji save the kids. Because her leader is suffering from his illness, Slice doesn't pursue them and decides to retreat so Nine can recover.
At night, the students retreat to a factory to heal their wounds and provide first aid to the inhabitants of the island. Tsuyu helps in the kitchens preparing meals for the refugees. Later, they have a meeting where they discover that the objective of the villain leader, Nine, is to steal the Cell Activation Quirk from a boy named Katsuma. With this information, they devise a plan to approach them in front and keep civilians safe. The plan is to lure the villains to the furthest corner of the island where ancient castle ruins are.
The next morning, Nine and his crew arrive at the entrance to the island. When the students see the villains approaching, they put their plan into action. Yuga Aoyama and Momo Yaoyorozu start attacking them from afar with their respective Quirks at full power. While Nine blocks the attack with his Air Wall Quirk, his allies break away from the blast. Chimera runs dodging the cannon shots, but a shot explodes near him and launches him off a cliff, though he lands unscathed near a waterfall. Here, Tenya, Shoto, Eijiro, and Tsuyu ambush him.
Tsuyu drags Chimera into the water before Shoto freezes it, but it isn't enough to stop the villain. Then, Eijiro and Tenya attack him with a series of kicks and punches but Chimera blocks all their attacks easily until he feels his body is paralyzed. The students reveal that Tsuyu has covered her arms and legs with a toxic special toxin mucus that she had secreted with her Frog Quirk. Chimera uses his Quirk to transform himself, becoming bigger and more powerful and nullifying the toxin, and start attacking the four students.
Pinned by Chimera, Shoto devises a plan: they need their companions to distract the villain and help him get closer to him so that he can use his Ice powers at full potential to freeze Chimera. All of them agree to put the plan into action. Chimera manages to defeat Tsuyu, Eijiro, and Tenya, knock them out, but thanks to their efforts the plan works, and Shoto freeze the villain before passing out from the cold temperatures in his body.
While they are unconscious after the battle, Izuku and Katsuki manage to defeat Nine, saving the island and its inhabitants in the process. After Class 1-A emerged victorious over the threat, the military and a large number of heroes arrive on Nabu Island, rescuing the civilians and medically treating Class 1-A. The villains are arrested, and Class 1-A continues to stay on Nabu Island to help repair the damage done by Nine and his villains until the Public Safety Commission suspends the program and orders them to be sent home. With the island being repaired by the military and the heroes, Class 1-A boards a ferry to return to U.A. High School.[92]
Endeavor Agency Arc#
Class 1-A participates in a Hero Interview Training taught by Mt. Lady. During the mock interview, Tsuyu Asui realizes that Izuku isn't used to interviews.[93]
Days later, the Hero Work Recommendation Project takes place, staying on Nabu Island before returning.[92]
On the night of Christmas Eve, at Heights Alliance, Class 1-A prepares to celebrate Christmas. With Work-Studies about to start, Ochaco and Tsuyu will return with Ryukyu. She is very happy when Shota brings Eri to celebrate Christmas with them. Then, the whole class participates in a random gift exchange in the dorms. Tsuyu's gift ends up in Hanta's hands.[94]
With the start of the second Hero-Work Study, Tsuyu, along with Ochaco and Nejire, returns with Ryukyu.[95] At Ryukyu's hero office, Ochaco shows off her upgraded costume, which is met with praise by Ryukyu and others. Ryukyu then holds a small welcoming party to celebrate the girls' first day back.
The next morning, the girls watch a news report about a forest fire in Kaflin that was caused by the explosion of an illegal Trigger factory. Ochaco and Tsuyu are confused at what Trigger is, so Nejire explains that it is the name of a Quirk-enhancing drug. Ryukyu later gets a team-up request from Selkie and tells her students to get ready. At the Verize Islands, Selkie greets Ryukyu and her team. Tsuyu thanks Selkie and Sirius for their mentorship back during her internship, while they in turn congratulate Tsuyu for getting her provisional hero license. Selkie then tells the girls to relax on the beach before the mission begins. Ochaco, Tsuyu, Nejire, and Sirius have fun on the beach, improving their morale.
As the sun sets, Ochaco and Tsuyu join Selkie on the Oki Mariner while Ryukyu and Nejire take to the skies. Selkie and Tsuyu swim to the ship and sneak onboard. Selkie orders Tsuyu to stay put while he takes control of the ship, but the drugs have already been loaded on to a cargo plane, which took off. Tsuyu attempts to grab the plane with her tongue, but it flies out of her reach.
When Ochaco successfully boarded the plane and subdued the smuggler, Tsuyu suggests she evacuate, but Ochaco refuses because the cargo will leak into the ocean if the plane crashes. Ochaco manages to make the plane weightless while Ryukyu safely lands the plane on the water. With the day saved, Tsuyu and the girls relax on the beach once more.[96]
My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission#
During the Work Studies, Ryukyu Agency joins the operation organized by the World Heroes Association to finish off Humarise, an anti-Quirk cult that claimed responsibility for the Trigger Bomb terrorist attack that caused the death of thousands of people in a major city. The operation consists of storming all the branches that Humarise has around the world, arresting its members, and taking control of all the Trigger Bombs.
The Ryukyu Agency joins the France Task Force and successfully raids the Paris branch, but while dozens of cultists are arrested, no Trigger Bomb is found. The situation is the same in the remaining branches attacked, so the WHA Director orders all the teams to stay in their assigned cities be on standby.
While they are stationed in hotel in Paris, they receive news from headquarters saying that Izuku was accused of mass murder by the Otheon government, making him extremely armed and dangerous. Like her friend Ochaco, Tsuyu also does not believe that the crimes Izuku is accused of are true, to the point of believing that there is something behind the whole thing.
Some days later, Flect Turn, the leader of Humarise, publicly broadcasts to the entire world that they have planted the Trigger bombs in the twenty-five cities, and they will detonate the bombs in two hours to "cleanse" the population of their Quirks. As a result, panic spreads throughout the threatened cities, causing numerous incidents and problems, so the France Task Force scrambles to quell the hysteria and locate the bombs. Tsuyu helps Ochaco with the evacuation and clear traffic while the remaining members of Ryukyu's Agency focus their efforts on finding the Trigger Bombs.
When one of the bombs is located, she and Ochaco join her teammates in an all-out war against the Humarise sleeper agents. She defeats numerous Humarise agents until Ochaco is attacked by a Mantis-like villain when trying to launch the bomb into the air. She helps her by taking down the villain, allowing Ochaco to try it again.
The countdown ends but, to the relief of the heroes, the Trigger Bomb does not explode. This is because Izuku, Katsuki, Shoto, and Rody were able to assault the main Humarise headquarters and defuse the bombs worldwide, saving the world from catastrophic destruction. Whit the crisis over and Humarise defeated, Tsuyu remains with her teammates to clean up the city until they leave the country and return to U.A.[97]
Paranormal Liberation War Arc#
Winter break ends and students return from their Work-Studies to show their progress with their Quirks and skills.[98] At Ground Alpha, the students show off their development by fighting Villain Bots under the supervision of All Might. Tsuyu and Ochaco show off their improved determination.[99] Later, Tsuyu and her classmates enjoy a Hot pot party.[100]
At some point, All Might asks her, Ochaco, and Hanta to help Izuku with his training. Izuku explains he wanted to learn to use Blackwhip more properly, so requested their help. The three students accept, not knowing that their assistance also will help give Izuku some future control over Float when it manifests.[101] Training with Tsuyu also serves as an inspiration for Izuku to develop his Blackwhip - Froppy Style, which allows him to use the black tendrils with his mouth in similar way to Tsuyu's ability with her tongue.[102]
The months go by until it's late March. Thanks to the police investigation and its spy Hawks, the Hero Public Safety Commission has found out the plans of the Paranormal Liberation Front and its allies. With this information the Commission organized a large force of Pro Heroes, divided in several teams to take down the villain organization.
A team of heroes has the mission of storming the main headquarters of the Paranormal Liberation Front, while another team lead by Endeavor will do the same at the Jaku General Hospital, where the Nomu are created. Finally, a third team, made up mainly of students and lead by Burnin, will be in charge of evacuating the residents of a city near the hospital and taking them to a safe place, with Tsuyu being in the last one.[103] When everything is ready, the operation starts and Burnin signals the students to start evacuating the citizens.[104]
The evacuation of the city proceeds without any problem, when suddenly, the hospital and the entire area around it begin to fall apart, and the disintegration spreads rapidly until it reaches the city itself.[105] Tsuyu comments that everything is turning to dust, and Izuku tries to stop the destruction, but it doesn't work, so the students run to safety taking all the citizens who were still there with them.[106] The students manage to escape in time, but for some reason, Izuku decides to move away, being followed by Katsuki.[107]
Shoto decides to go after them to bring them back, while the remaining students continue with the evacuation. Since they cannot contact them, Tenya begins to worry, and Tsuyu tells him that apparently communication signals are down in a certain area. Just as Ochaco says they should go over there, they overhear the civilians reacting to a news report about Gigantomachia heading towards Jaku City.[108] All of Jaku's heroes are ordered to delegate the evacuation to the Rescue Team and the Police and to now engage the Villains to stop the enemies advances.[109]
Tsuyu and Ochaco work hard to rescue as many civilians as possible. While helping several people out of a building floor, Gigantomachia finally reaches the city, and just as he did in the previous towns he passed through, he rampages everything in his way, sending debris through the air. Tsuyu does not realize in time that a piece of debris is about to fall on her and the civilians, but fortunately Ochaco did, and quickly uses the wires of her costume to avoid them being crushed. Tsuyu thanks her for saving their life.
Once safe, an old woman appears desperately asking them to rescue her husband Takeo. Seeing Gigantomachia approach quickly, Ochaco tells Tsuyu to get the civilians in her possession to safety while she helps the old woman. Tsuyu agrees and asks Ochaco to be careful.[110] Once her task is done, Tsuyu returns as quickly as possible to help Ochaco and the old woman, only to discover that her friend is facing Himiko Toga.
When Himiko is about to attack Ochaco with several knives, Tsuyu manages to disarm her with her long tongue. Tsuyu asks what Himiko is doing here only to be interrupted when the house shakes from the destruction generated by Gigantomachia. Himiko retreats as Tsuyu says to Ochaco that they should stand back-to-back in the case she aims for their blind spots. Ochaco, however, confidently tells her that Himiko just ran off.[111]
Tsuyu and Ochaco continue saving civilians after the war had ended. They manage to save the life of a girl and her little brother who was trapped under rubble. Tsuyu notices the child was injured and says she whould bring him to a shelter for treatment, as Ochaco continues looking for survivors.[112]
Two days later in Central Hospital, Tsuyu is waiting outside Izuku's hospital room along with Ochaco and Tenya, when a still unrecovered Katsuki appears, fighting Minoru and Rikido in a desperate effort to reach Izuku Midoriya's hospital room. Tsuyu helps her two classmates to carry Katsuki away with her tongue, as he was too stubborn to rest while Izuku was comatose.[113]
After several days, all the students of Class A have recovered from their injuries and are back at Heights Alliance, but Izuku is not among them. Tsuyu and her classmates find out that he has left each of them a letter, and upon reading them, they learn his reasons for leaving U.A., including the meaning of One For All and why Tomura and the villains are after him. They are shocked and confused by Izuku's sudden departure from U.A.[114]
Dark Hero Arc#
A few days after Izuku left U.A., Tsuyu congregates with Class 1-A and they deduce that Izuku is now working with the top three heroes, as well as also All Might. Impatient in getting a response, Class 1-A push forward using Endeavor's U.A. Alumni status to confront him and force out the truth.
Once Principal Nezu gives permission to allow the class to bring Izuku back home to safety, they dispatch to search for Izuku across the country while apprehending any escapees from Tartarus and the other prisons. After a month of trailing in Izuku's whereabouts, Tsuyu and Class 1-A arrived on the scene to defeat the villain Dictator and then apprehend Izuku. When Izuku refused to give up the fight, Class 1-A pursues him.[115]
During the chase, Izuku was trapped by Shoto's Heaven-Piercing Ice Wall where Tsuyu assures him that it's okay to cry when you're scared, remembering the moment she cried when she apologized to him and the others for not supporting them in their plan to rescue Katsuki when he was kidnapped. She proclaims that if he wants to remain strong like a comic book superhero, they won't let him go at it alone.[116]
Blasting out of the ice wall, Tsuyu swings her tongue toward Izuku, which he manages to dodge, only to be caught off guard by Minoru, who was latched on to the end of the tongue, and sticks to Izuku using a bunch of his Pop Off balls attached to a rope, dubbed Mineta Beads: Ten-Fold.[117]
Once Tenya catches Izuku and they land on the ground, Tsuyu and the rest of Class 1-A hurries on over to confront him and listens to Katsuki apologizing to him before he passes out from exhaustion. After Izuku was secured, she and the rest of the class safely escort him back to a heavily fortified U.A. High where they are confronted by protesting civilians in the shelter.[118]
They are aware that Tomura is after Izuku and fear them being in danger, leading Ochaco to give a pleading speech toward the crowd on why he needs their help and deserves to stay and rest, with the civilians eventually agreeing.[119] Izuku is escorted inside and washed down by the boys, and after he finally passes out from exhaustion, she joins the rest of the class in declaring they'll do whatever they can to bring back the world and make it better.[120]
Star and Stripe Arc#
Two days later, Class 1-A learn that during this time, Tomura had fought American No. 1 Hero, Star and Stripe, and while she was killed during the battle with Tomura successfully stealing her Quirk, New Order, thanks to her actions, the Quirk acted like a virus within his body, destroying several of his Quirks and delaying his procedure by about a week.
All Might informs all this to the class, telling them that this is now their perfect time to prepare for the inevitable all-out war. The class reveals over the past month they had been training with the Wild, Wild Pussycats in order to keep up with Izuku in the incoming conflict, and are now about to head out to continue their training.[121]
U.A. Traitor Arc#
The class continue to train amongst themselves in the courtyards outside, with Tsuyu sparring with Ochaco. When they discuss about the plans for the upcoming conflict, Izuku wonders if it's okay for them to walk around, which Tenya replies it's okay as the civilians have been overall more receptive to the heroes and the students since Ochaco's speech. Upon hearing this, Tsuyu looks pleased at her friend, who can't hold back her blushing when she is praised.[122]
Shortly after this, Tsuyu alongside the rest of the class discover the news that Izuku has captured the Aoyamas and revealing Yuga to be the traitor who isolated the class at the U.S.J. and revealed the location of their training camp.
Once the Aoyamas are restrained, she and the other class refuse to back down from the news despite Nezu's request, all in stunned and tears of Yuga's betrayal. She listens to Yuga's desperation that drove him to despair and then Izuku pleading to let Yuga help them, leading the class to realize Yuga may be the only one able to deceive All For One.[123]
Shota then appears on a tablet screen, taking full responsibility and reveals that he has an idea. They listen to Shota's plan after the Aoyama Family's ears have been covered. Naomasa then has them escorted back to their HQ, telling everyone not to say a word to anyone else about the plan while she and the rest of the class looking on sullenly.
Back at Heights Alliance, Tsuyu takes a breather, before getting ready to gear back up, as she and everyone, with fire and rage in their eyes over the betrayal, prepares to bring All For One down once and for all.[124] She joins up with their "Search Squad" to head out to hunt down the villains.[125]
Later that night, the class returns to Heisghts Alliance, taking a break after coming up with nothing from their search. All Might, Naomasa, and Nezu then appear to the dorm, to inform everyone of their finalized plans for the upcoming Second War, calling in Hitoshi Shinso. Tsuyu was surprised to hear about the plan, as during the Joint Training Battle, he couldn't make people talk.
Hitoshi explains that since he was supposed to be transferred into the Hero course in April, he had to train hard to keep up with everyone, so managed to push through the limits of his Quirk, allowing him to do so. Their plan is to utilize this ability to let the Aoyamas speak to All For One without him being able to detect any malicious intent, to lure him out.[126]
The next day, Nezu announces to the civilians that Tomura will make his big move in 4 days, with Class 1-A moving outside of the U.A. barrier to began prioritizing their safety. They say their goodbyes to their relatives and friends before moving out of Heights Alliance and moves into its upgraded makeshift fortress called "Troy". During the following days, Tsuyu and her classmates dedicated themselves to carrying out various missions and returning to Troy to rest.[127]
My Hero Academia: You're Next#
During Class 1-A's Quirk training, in preparation to hunt down Tomura and the remaining members of the Paranormal Liberation Front, Class-A swarm in to see Izuku's notebook about his analysis about them. As they start reading it, Izuku tries to walk away in embarrassment before Ochaco and Tsuyu stop him. When Katsuki reads it, he takes offense by what was written about him, and causes a ruckus. All Might walks up to the class and says it's time to move out, as the students take off in an armored van to track down the Villains.[128]
Throughout the month, Tsuyu is a member of Team 2 of Class 1-A, consisting of Shoto, Tenya, Mezo, Denki, Momo, and Minoru, to apprehend all the Jailbreakers who escaped from Tartarus and other maximum-security prisons across the country. The team rendezvous with Teams 1 and 2 for a break from combat, taking the chance to motivate each other, relax, and complain about the Villains.
However, they're suddenly attacked by a group of rogue Villains, intent on stealing one of the Heroes' armored trucks. The U.A. students, expecting the attack, fight back and defeat them. The villains are handed over to the police as All Might informs the students of new Villain sightings, and they split into three groups, following up on the reports.[129]
His team defeated six Jailbreaker villains and took them to the nearest police station. Team 2 contacts Team 1 and 3 at a police station, who've also apprehended more villains and escapees. Hawks, via the Counter-Force, gives the teams their next assignment: apprehend a Tartarus escapee, Ginji Kurau, who has been spotted nearby.
Tsuyu and Team 2 heads over to apprehend Ginji before the other team does, but Team 3, led by Izuku, is the first to encounter the Jailbreaker, discovering that he is holding a woman named Anna Scervino. Izuku faces Ginji but the fight is interrupted first by Giulio Gandini, who tries to kill Anna, and then by the arrival of the Gollini Family, a mafia organization consisting of Bruno, Kamile, Deborah Gollini, Paulo, Simon, Ugo, Gil, and their masked leader, Valdo Gollini.
They take Anna, whom Deborah hypnotizes, and then Valdo undoes his mask, revealing that he has the appearance of prime All Might. After brutally defeating Ginji, he uses his Alchemy Quirk to create a microphone and several cameras and drones, hacking into every communication network. He announces to the country that he has come to "save Japan" from their despair caused by the war and vows that he will use his strength and power to promote justice and become the next Symbol of Peace in honor of All Might’s god-like powers.
Izuku calls him out with disgust over using violence and putting innocent civilians in danger, taiting All Might's legacy. Hearing his words, Valdo decides to prove Izuku wrong by using his powers. He touches the hypnotized Anna, and his powers tremendously increase as he uses his Quirk to transform their floating ship into a massive fortress, consuming everything in its path in an ocean of light.
The three class A teams witness the rapid expansion of the transformation. The transformation light consumes Teams 1 and 2. Shoto blocks the expansion with his ice from his Quirk and the others attemps to go and rescue those inside, but the transformation light simply phases through ice wall. Team 2 tries to escape but they are all caught by the light and sucked into the fortress of Valdo, renamed the Symbol of Paradise.
Tsuyu and Team 2 regain consciousness and, along with her classmates, end up in different areas of the fortress, but they cannot communicate. His team ends up in a meadow, where Mezo spots a nearby city. Tsuyu comments it smell fishy, and Shoto tells the team that they should investigate the place, so everyone heads toward the city.
Inside the center, Team 2 stumbles upon many bodies of unconscious civilians and rose petals. They see Deborah and Anna with a line of civilians who are under the effects of Deborah's Day Dream, with each civilian touching Anna before convulsing in pain and lying unconscious. Realizing that they’re hurting the civilians, Team 2 intervenes to stop them, but Deborah notices the hero students' presence and uses her Quirk on them, causing the team to fall into a dream-like coma where they desire.
In her dream, Tsuyu dreams of herself singing the Frog Song with her family. While under Deborah’s Quirk, Anna touches Tsuyu, but her Overmodification reveals that he is incompatible with her Quirk, and convulses in a painful seizure before losing consciousness.
Later, the members of team 3 and Giulio also fall to Deborah's Quirk, but Izuku and Giulio manage to free them from Deborah’s control, injuring her in the process and breaking the control that her Quirk had over the students and the kidnapped citizens. Anna is also freed, but Giulio is about to shoot her, something she seems to accept. However, Izuku intervenes and prevents Giulio from killing Anna. Then Kamile appears and uses his Spatial Excursion quirk to rescue Deborah and take Anna, without the others being able to prevent it.
As students and citizens wake up, Giulio finally explains everything about Anna and the Gollini Family. A while ago, he was hired by Anna's father to help with her Overmodification Quirk, which allows her to greatly enhance the Quirk Factors of a few compatible people. However, her quirk became more uncontrollable with the passage of time. Only thanks to his Neutralization Quirk, he could temporarily neutralize her Quirk by touching her with his right arm.
Despite this, Anna's Quirk was becoming more and more powerful and there would come a time when not even his neutralization would be enough to contain it, so Anna made Giulio promise that he would kill her if her Quirk becomes unstable and hurts people. However, the Gollini Family learned of Anna's Quirk, and attacked the household, kidnapping Anna and killing everyone else. Giulio survived, but he had to have parts of his body replaced with robotic prosthetics, and no longer can use his Quirk. He tracked Anna to Japan to fulfill the promise he made to her before is to late.
Tsuyu and those from Teams 2 and 3 of 1-A voice their objection that killing Anna will end her suffering, and even if it does, they know that it is not what she and Giulio wanted. They understand that Giulio went through so much to get Anna back, and they are not going to let her Quirk grow out of control, vowing to save Anna from her Quirk, and Giulio. Team 1 soon appears and also agrees to help Giulio and Anna and defeat Valdo, who now calls himself Dark Might.
After the students had managed to defeat several of his subordinates, Dark Might orders to change the course of the flying fortress and head directly to the U.A. Shelter. He then broadcasts to the students that he will become the Symbol of Peace when he destroys All Might and the last remnants of the Heroes still at the U.A. Class A organize to prevent this, and while Izuku, Katsuki, Shoto, Fumikage and Giulio head to face the villains, Tsuyu and his classmates round up the civilians and prepare to evacuate the fortress.
While leading the civilians to safety, the students hear explosions coming from outside the flying fortress and assume it is the heroes trying to assault the Symbol of Paradise. Then they receive help from Mirio, who easily infiltrates the fortress with his Permeation and helps direct everyone towards the exit. Outside the town, thousands of monsters conjured by the fortress appear to stop them. Tenya asks Mirio to escort the civilians to safety, and orders Tsuyu, Hanta, Koji and Toru to help him, while him and the remaining students They stay behind to face the monsters and cover the civilians.
Mirio leads everyone to a prearranged location, and he manages to signal the Heroes outside the fortress. Endeavor fires several full bursts of his Prominence Burn, creating a hole large enough for the civilians to fall through. They are all caught by the Heroes and brought to safety. With the evacuation successfully completed, Tsuyu and her companions return to the battlefield to aid in the fight.
Despite their best efforts, little by little the fortress monsters begin to prevail, as every time the students destroy them, more monsters keep generating. On the verge of their defeat, several Heroes from outside manage to get inside the fortress and back them up. While fighting off the monsters, Izuku, Katsuki, Shoto, and Giulio face and defeat Dark Might, causing the fortress to stop conjuring the monsters, and Mirio defeats Kamille, halting the fortress as it starts falling from the sky.
Although the danger seems to be over, Anna loses control of her Quirk, and Valdo regains consciousness and uses her enhanced properties to turn himself into a colossal monster. Giulio manages to touch Anna, and his own Neutralization Quirk becomes greatly enhanced, allowing him to use it on Anna finally. With Dark Might vulnerable, Izuku, Shoto, and Katsuki defeat him definitively.
With the Gollini Family defeated, the U.A. Shelter is safe, and everyone cheers on the Heroes and Class 1-A for their valiant victory. Tenya and the rest of the class watch as Anna decides to stay with Giulio, now that her Quirk is finally nullified for good.[130]
Final War Arc#
With the number of Heroes dwindling rapidly, those that remain develop a plan to defeat the Villains in an all-out battle of the Final War. Tsuyu remains at Troy with the rest of Class 1-A as Izuku makes contact with Yuga to a deserted location. With All For One and the army of villains drawn out, the Heroes make use of the next step of their plan. Neito copies Kurogiri's Warp Gate Quirk, and teleports all of the remaining Heroes, including Tsuyu, to the battlefield.[131]
With the villains in the same location, All Might activates the Troy Defense System, which contains the majority of the villains inside as more Warp Gates are created outside. While the villains quickly bust free, the Heroes use this advantage to shove the villains into the portals, separating everyone. Tsuyu joins Ochaco in pushing a group of villains, including Himiko Toga, into a portal that takes them all to Okuto Island, an isolated place they can face Himiko without her escaping.
Unfortunately, Izuku is also there, since Toga managed to drag him along to Okuto Island at the last moment. Tsuyu and Ochaco are startled to see Izuku suddenly appear, as he was supposed to be part of the U.A. Team tasked with confronting Tomura, a key element in the heroes' strategy to defeat him.[132]
Tsuyu fights against numerous villains on Okuto Island where Sirius calls out to her if she made it alright, with her responding her that Izuku and Ochaco got caught in the shockwave.[133] As she tries to find her two classmates, they are in a tussle with Himiko herself, who had confessed her feelings to Izuku, and acting out after he rejected her. Himiko manages to grab ahold of Ochaco and stabs her in the back, about to tell her that it was a shame it turned out like this since they both like the same boy, but is cut off by Tsuyu kicking Himiko away in time.
Ochaco tells Tsuyu she was only grazed, but that they also need to get the knife back since her blood is on it. Tsuyu then turns to Izuku telling him to leave now as it's not the place to talk about romance, and to rely on Ochaco, who has the most experience dealing with her. Izuku agrees and speeds away from the fight.[134] With Izuku gone, Tsuyu sighs to herself in relief, not wanting that the way for her friend's feelings to be revealed, as the three girls prepare to resume their fight.[135]
As the battle continues, Himiko attempts to catch Tsuyu off guard, but Ochaco and some other Heroes are able to counter her. Aware of her ability to misdirect and hide her presence, their plan is to keep at least 4 people and a sensor-type Hero on her at once to prevent her from fleeing. Himiko soon pulls out a vial and prepares to drink it, with Tsuyu wondering if it contains All For One, Tomura, or someone else's blood, and quickly disposes of it before they can find out.
However, Himiko reveals that it was actually a decoy drug that attracts Nomu, which causes the Near High-End to turn its attention to her. The Nomu unleashes a destructive blast, and in the chaos, Himiko uses this chance to catch Tsuyu off guard, transforming into her and pinning her down. By the time Ochaco sees what happened, it's too late and Himiko drinks the real vial containing Twice's blood, transforming into him and immediately beginning to create Doubles.
Suddenly a Warp Gate conjured by a freed Kurogiri appears from above her, as she asks to be sent to Hawks, to exact revenge on Twice's death. After Ochaco's failed attempt to stop her, she shouts that they still haven't talked about romance, which catches Tsuyu's attention as well, and while Himiko initially hesitates, she enters and responds she wishes they could. Spurred by Ochaco's feelings, the two girls help launch each other into the Warp Gate before it can close, barely emerging out of it, and ready to join the Gunga Mountain Ruins battle.[136][137]
By the time she and Ochaco had exited out of the Warp Gate, it was already too late as Himiko activated and unleashed Sad Man's Parade all over the battlefield, horrifying both of them. As the Infinite Doubles swarm all over alongside Dabi's Blueflames scorching the surrounding forests, the heroes are losing the fight, forcing them in full retreat. Tsuyu starts to worry about Shoto and Mezo, hoping they're okay.
The two then reunite with Kyoka and Fumikage, noticing the former having lost her ear, but she replies she was lucky that was all she lost. Ochaco says that all of Japan will be buried unless they stop Himiko, but Fumikage tells them Dabi's flames are too hot, so all they can do is flee for themselves now that their divide and conquer strategy has failed.[138]
After Fumikage dropped his classmates off, he flies back into sky to help Hawks while they try to figure out how to deal with the Twice Doubles. Tsuyu suggests how everything isn't as bad as it could be, since if Himiko had transformed into one of the other Villains earlier and cloned them it would've been all over, but since she didn't, there must be a reason why they can use to their advantage.
She says how the real Twice's Doubles could use their Quirks, but based on Himiko's words from Ochaco, she can only use the Quirks of the people she "loves", and theorizes the reason she didn't clone the others is because she doesn't love them. She continues that in this extreme situation, her feelings could change at any moment, so they must find the real Himiko as soon as possible.[139]
Soon afterward, the Heroes receive backup courtesy of the Shiketsu High School students, with Inasa Yoarashi using his Whirlwind Quirk to suck up most of the Twice Doubles from the battlefield, while the remaining Heroes target All For One and the rest of the Doubles.[140] Also at this time, Ochaco is able to locate the real Himiko.[141]
While several Heroes give chase to All For One, Tsuyu remains with the Heroes facing the Double horde. However, they find themselves completely overwhelmed and unable to fight back as Himiko increases the volume even further using Sad Man's Death Parade, consuming nearly everyone. When Ochaco confronts the real Himiko about mixing her feelings of love with bloodlust, she becomes furiously enraged yelling about how she doesn't know the first thing about her, pulling up Tsuyu from the swarm at knifepoint.[142]
Ochaco yells out to her friend in horror, with Tsuyu thinking about how due to being injured on Okuto Island, she was unable to fight back against Himiko and the Doubles. Himiko continues that Ochaco never wanted anything, because she always followed the rules and was born into a livable life, just as she's about to slice Tsuyu with her knife. However, Ochaco is able to pull Himiko away toward her, barely grazing Tsuyu, who starts to fall back into the wave of clones.
Kyoka, carried by Kamui Woods, is about to catch the falling Tsuyu, only for Kamui to reveal he already saved her, as the Tsuyu falling toward Kyoka suddenly transforms and is about to attack her, until they are smacked away by Kamui. The Heroes realize that the Doubles have been drinking the blood spread across the battlefield and have started turning into other Heroes, causing further disruption on the battlefield.
With seemingly no way left to stop the Doubles, Tsuyu yells out to Himiko somewhere in the swarm that she thought that following the rules is what made someone a hero and breaking them made you a villain. But despite this, Ochaco is setting the rules aside to try and have a conversation with her, something much tougher than her killing them all or them beating her, begging her to listen to what she has to say. However, Himiko refuses to listen and stabs Ochaco deeply in the chest.[143]
With rage fueling her insanity, Himiko unleashes Sad Man's Legion, releasing her Doubles to the absolute extreme on a gigantic scale. The swarm becomes an ocean and completely consumes all the Heroes, Villains, and Nomu alike, decimating the nearby city. Tsuyu was among those swallowed by the ocean of Doubles as it washes over everything in its path. However, Ochaco undergoes a Quirk Awakening as the ocean of Doubles suddenly bursts open with everyone starting to float through the air, thanks to her Quirk spreading between all the bodies that came into contact with each other.[144]
Thanks to Ochaco holding out against Himiko, the effects of Twice's transformation wears off as the ocean of Doubles disintegrate in the air, with Ochaco using her remaining strength to carefully ensure the exhausted and unconscious Heroes have a safe landing.[145] Shortly afterwards, Tsuyu cries as she watches a news copter crew landing to take Ochaco to safety for medical treatment due to her drastic injuries.[146]
At this same time, Shota had managed to regain control of "Kurogiri" and has begun warping himself all around to gather up all the Heroes that can still fight to provide reinforcements for the final battle. Tsuyu, accompanied by most of her fellow 1-A classmates, are warped to Mt. Fuji to help Izuku in his fight against "All For One". Tsuyu states that she will do whatever it takes, as long as she's still conscious, as all the assembled Heroes together declare "We are here!"[147]
As Izuku runs toward "All For One", the villain unleashed hordes of Quirk attack all over the battlefield, blasting away every Hero who gets in his way, but they all keep countering against his attacks. Shota then calls out to the Heroes through their comms, telling them to help Izuku carve a straight path to Tomura. As more Heroes continue to cover Izuku, Tsuyu and Mezo grab ahold of Izuku, telling him the rest of them aren't agile enough to weave past the brutal attacks, but they can still help carry him partway there, and thrust him forward, with Izuku thanking them.[147] Eventually, Izuku manages to defeat "All For One" once and for all, just before Tomura succumbs to his injuries and dies as his body disintegrates into ashes.[148]
One week after the end of the Final War, the restoration efforts that were stalled after the Jaku Hospital Raid have picked back up at a breakneck pace, as Heroes from around the world arrived to provide support and resources in rescue and rebuilding Japan. A few weeks later, Tsuyu recovers from her injuries after the end of the war and returns to the partially rebuilt U.A.[149]
Epilogue Arc#
Later, in June, Tsuyu attends the U.A. High Graduation along with the rest of her classmates. She watches the Third years receive their diplomas from Principal Nezu, including Tamaki, Nejire, and Mirio. Mirio also gives a motivational farewell speech, speaking about the need for a bright future where people can smile.
After graduation, Class 1-A becomes 2-A and moves to a temporary classroom, where Shota states that they were supposed to be getting a different homeroom teacher, but due to the circumstances, he will be their homeroom teacher for another year, to the students' excitement. Tsuyu points out that Mina can't hold back her tears of joy because of this.
Yuga then enters to say goodbye, having decided to leave U.A. to atone for his crimes, vowing to become a true hero from scratch. To keep everyone else from crying, he shoots his Navel Laser everywhere. Yuga then reveals that Hitoshi will be taking his place as Class A's newest member. Tsuyu and several of her classmates are happy about it. Feeling left out by everyone's excitement over Hitoshi, Yuga shoots his lasers again, asking his former classmates to start planning his farewell party.
After things calmed down, their senior Mawata Fuwa announces that during the next weeks, the second and third-year students will participate in reconstruction and patrol tasks throughout the country under her supervision. After school, several 2-A students walk talking together about how excited they are about the news first years arriving tomorrow, now that they're all second years and upperclassmen. This means they will have to put in extra effort starting tomorrow.[150]
The next day, after the new first-years mobbed Katsuki and Shoto in an excess of admiration and had to be scolded by Tenya, Class 2-A join up with some Heroes in a city on reconstruction duty, assisting Fat Gum, Suneater, and Best Jeanist in demolishing and repairing a section of buildings. As reconstruction treks on, local civilians provide food for the students to eat for lunch, as a thank you for their help and hard work.
At that moment another bus arrives, bringing the first-year students. Their homeroom teacher, Cementoss, explains they insisted on helping with the reconstruction efforts in order to be of use and to make up for their earlier misgivings. They are given minor tasks to assist, as one of the civilians points out that one turn of good, hard work inspires the next.
As the second years enjoy lunch while the first years tag in, Tsuyu and Izuku notice Ochaco staring off at nothing in particular. Tsuyu asks her friend what's wrong, with Ochaco declaring that it's nothing, and she's just glad that things are taking a positive turn. Ochaco then rushes over to the lunch table to snack on a rice ball, while offering to bring Izuku one of his own. Despite her outward demeanor, both Tsuyu and Izuku realize that Ochaco is only putting on a front.
Later that night, because they eased up on dormitory requirements, students who wanted to go back home could, Ochaco decides to go home for a bit. Still worried about her friend, Tsuyu tries to contact her, but Ochaco ignores all her text messages, making Tsuyu even more concerned. She decides to tell the rest of the class about what's happening, and immediately everyone goes out to look for her.[151]
Tsuyu and the rest of Class A head over to the hillside of former Troy to check on her, only to see that Izuku had come before the class and Ochaco seems to be doing well. Calling her sillyhead for silently enduring her pain, Tsuyu jumps towards Ochaco and hugs her, saying that she was waiting for her to open up and can say whatever's on her mind to her. Ochaco thanks Tsuyu for her support, while the rest of her classmates also approach to check that she is okay.
While they comfort her, Katsuki asks Izuku about the embers of One For All he just used up. The class freaks out upon learning that Izuku only has embers remaining of One For All, and swarms over him to get the details and scolding him for leaving them in the dark, which the boy quickly agrees to fill them in on.
Later, Class 2-A celebrate their goodbye party for Yuga, with Eri singing for the first time in front of the entire class while Kyoka plays the guitar.[152]
As time passes, Class A becomes Third Year and focuses on their reconstruction efforts while doing Hero work. Finally, it was time for Class A's graduation ceremony, and all Third Year Students from Class A, B, and Support Course are prepared to have their diplomas ready. After receiving her diploma from Principal Nezu, Tsuyu listens to Tenya's farewell speech about their hard work, which ends the graduation ceremony with a huge explosion caused by Katsuki and Monoma.
During the eight years following her graduation, she continues working as sidekick alongside Ochaco until, after a while, they both go independent after doing sidekick gigs. They work hard at their respective hero activities.[153] Once she become a full-fledged Hero, Tsuyu decides to start her own hero agency close to where her parents live, as she still cares about spending time with her family. She also occasionally serves as a guest lecturer at U.A. High.[154]
Likewise, Tsuyu joins Ochaco along with Tenya and Momo in touring elementary schools around Japan to expand the Hero role. Due to the decline in Villain emergence, they expand the role that Heroes play, which includes access to Quirk counseling, spearheaded by Ochaco herself, which is thought to be the most essential initiative in this day and age.
In other matters, Izuku is now a U.A. teacher, and due to his loss of One For All, Tsuyu and her former classmates funded the creation of a mechanical armor similar to Armored All Might for Izuku. They have to pool a lot of funding from their Hero Work to help making the suit with the aid of Melissa and Mei.
Once the suit was done, All Might delivers the surprise gift for Izuku, who tears up and smiles to be able to be a hero again. When Hawks mentions traffic being backed up because of a landslide on WarStar Road and requesting Heroes who can respond, Izuku puts on his new "Armored Deku" suit and is joined by the rest of his former classmates. As they head to the landside, Tsuyu joins the rest of her fellow Heroes of Class A.[153]
A couple of months after Izuku received his suit, Tsuyu and Ochaco are joined by The Big 3, current Number 1 Hero Lemillion, Number 7 Hero Nejire Chan, and Fat Gum's Sidekick Suneater, to assist with Ochaco's Quirk Counselling. She tells them about how the most important thing is communication, and that children may be dealing with problems, big or small, so to continue being friendly until they feel comfortable to open up to them. On the train, Ochaco opens up to Tsuyu how she's been seeing Himiko in her dreams every night, but can't remember what's happening in them, wondering if it's stress related, since she went to the doctors and they found nothing. Ochaco wonders if Himiko is trying to tell her something, since Himiko gave up her life to save Ochaco's by transfusing all of her blood, so the blood might have mixed in with her's, and a part of her lives inside of her, just like One For All. Tsuyu comforts Ochaco, telling her she just needs to remember what happened in the dream.
At a restaurant, the former students of Class A celebrate Shoto's new Number 2 Hero on the Hero Billboard Chart JP. Suddenly, everyone receives a notification of a criminal's Quirk causing a lot of damage, as the former classmates blast off together. The incident is quickly resolved, as the criminal is arrested. The group decide to split up for the night, with Ochaco and Tsuyu going their separate ways.[155]
