Let You Down is the one hundred and forty-third episode of the My Hero Academia anime and the fifth episode of the seventh season.

Summary#

Late at night, Himiko visits her old family house, reminiscing about all the damage and graffiti made by people demonizing her family, and the horrible things her parents and classmates said to her during her struggle to fit in with others after Transform started manifesting. She makes her way up to her old bedroom and remembers a time where she nipped and suckled on the blood from her wrists while asleep, as she dreamt of doing the same with an old classmate of hers, and a sparrow burrowing into her stomach and then coating her entire body with blood.

After smiling upon noticing that everything in her room has been thrown out, her exit is interrupted by Dabi, who's watching her while lounging on a nearby building. He's surprised that someone like her can get sentimental, to which she angrily explains that there's nothing abnormal about being curious about the state of the house she abandoned long ago. Dabi then asks if she's made up her mind about tearing down this irreparably corrupt world, which she confirms without hesitation. He then lights the trashed house ablaze with his flames and tells her to have a good laugh about it, since tomorrow comes for everyone.

Himiko thanks Dabi for the gesture, but he clarifies that he's doing it to make Endeavor suffer more. He then hands her a vial of Twice's blood he snagged before Gigantomachia grabbed them during the Paranormal Liberation War, and says if she were to make use of it and use his Sad Man's Parade, then they will have the last laugh against their enemies.

In the cave housing the other members of the League of Villains, Spinner goes to check on "Tomura", who's tucked in a deeper part of the structure while recovering from his injuries. He flinches as he sees a slimy, grotesque mob of fingers crowding the tunnel, before they suddenly sink backward and into the groaning Villain's right hand. As "Tomura" gets up and walks to the others, All For One tells Spinner not to worry, as it's just a result of his body overpowering the effects of the Quirk Singularity Theory. Spinner asks if that man is still Tomura at this point, to which All For One offhandedly "assures" him so.

Skeptic tells Spinner to focus on the fact that he's now seen a proper figure for heteromorph discrimination, instead of just another run-of-the-mill Stain fanboy. While Spinner tries to assert that he's not in allegiance with them to fight for a greater cause, All For One and Skeptic further coerce him. While reluctant, Spinner bites the bullet since he's only here to support Tomura and nothing else. All For One commends him as he holds a device Skeptic held out to him, stating that anyone can be someone else's Hero.

Back at U.A., Class 1-A returns to the dorms after failing to make progress on tracking down anyone from the Paranormal Liberation Front or the League of Villains. All Might then rushes in with an accompanying Naomasa and Nezu, and informs the students of their plan pertaining to their upcoming battle against the Villains.

The next morning, Nezu tells the evacuees over an intercom that they'll soon be placed under a curfew as the upgraded defense systems go live, as "Tomura" will awaken and bring potential harm to them in four days' time. While the situation is terrifying and less than ideal, Nezu asks the public to stay strong, and says that they'll get through this together.

In the midst of it, one of All For One's spies, who he and another were just tasked by the man to spread this previously unreleased info to the public so Izuku can be driven out of the school and into open territory, looks out in shock. Relief washes over the spy, as he and his partner have essentially completed their order without even trying.

Later, Class 1-A shares warm goodbyes with the evacuees and their families, as they are moved to an offsite armored dormitory, Makeshift Fortress: Troy, constructed 30 kilometers away from the school grounds. As the other students get settled, Izuku meets with Ochaco outside, who he hasn't had the chance to talk with since she made that speech for him in front of the evacuees.

Izuku properly gives thanks for what she did for him, as she awkwardly tells him it's no big deal. The boy then asks why she's hanging around here, and Ochaco says she's just looking out at the city while gathering her thoughts. She tells Izuku that she was thinking about Himiko when she did her grand gesture for him, and mentions the brief encounter they had during the war. Ochaco then says while she's aware Himiko is a person who has helped destroy countless lives, she feels bad about the fact that she never understood the Villain's perspective in regard to discerning right from wrong.

Gazing the city, and reminding herself of the war's aftermath, is her way of not getting distracted by that dilemma during their eventual final battle. Izuku understands where she's coming from, and tells her about the spirit of Tenko he found tucked away inside Tomura. While he acknowledges that a fight is unavoidable, he's not going to ignore what he saw inside the Villain.

At the same time, Katsuki, Eijiro, and Tenya comfort Shoto regarding his feelings about Dabi, and his own resolve to conclude the conflict with his brother. Izuku and Ochaco then look out once more into the ruins of the city, as they strengthen their resolve to stop the Villains.

Several days later, All For One is having a phone call with Mr. and Mrs. Aoyama, while silently musing to himself over the fact he has a Quirk, which is apparently stolen from one of Naomasa's ancestors, that prevents anyone from lying to him by detecting antagonism inside someone's speech. Yuga's mother offers the man a "bottle of wine" that her son can bring over to him, which the Villain accepts after discussing a drop off point.

In a deserted parking lot just outside Troy, Izuku, now in the new Costume Zeta, arrives to see Yuga there after receiving his own private phone call from the boy. Izuku asks why he isn't in custody, to which Yuga replies that his parent's lawyers got him released. Before Izuku could run off to inform the others, Yuga begins to explain All For One's ultimate goal. He wishes to plunge a nation, like Japan, into permanent societal and economic ruin, resulting in a degradation of foreign relations as other areas start hoarding and fighting for vital resources to keep themselves afloat, and set the stage to become the become the planet's overlord by farming a monopoly on said resources using his stockpile of Quirks.

Izuku says everyone is still fighting and that a plan like that will never come to fruition, to which Yuga discomforting says now is the last bastion for that. He apologizes to his friend and says he's only trying to protect his parents, as a fully recovered All For One, now sporting a new outfit and life support helmet, floats down from behind. The man proudly claps for the crying Yuga's efforts, as Izuku crouches into a battle stance and activates Full Cowl, yelling at Yuga for betraying them again. Suddenly, Yuga fires his Navel Laser in defiance of the Villain, which tears open the left sleeve of his new suit.

The smoke kicked up by the attack clears and reveals Yuga and Izuku standing side-by-side, both commending each other for their work in luring All For One out of hiding. While All For One keeps his composure on this souring development, he wonders how they were able to deceive them, as he wasn't able to detect anything abnormal in the Aoyamas' phone calls.

He puts his confusion aside for now, as having Izuku right in front of him is the perfect opportunity to steal One For All, especially since Search detects that all the Heroes that Tomura saw during the Paranormal Liberation War are too far to intervene. He then activates Warping and teleports the League of Villains, the Near High-End Nomu, and some other Villains, to make quick work of Izuku and Yuga. The Villain then looks up to see a set of Warp Gates appearing, assuming Kurogiri had escaped, only to be surprised by several Pro Heroes beginning to pour out of them.

Yuga dries his tears and yells to his captor something that his parents told him: the thing All For One hates the most is any sense of hope that Japan will recover from their devastation, turn their predicament around, and go on to build a better and brighter future. Yuga proclaims that today is the day he'll be defeated, and with that, the final battle between the Heroes and the Villains officially begins.

  • Extra moments of Izuku, Katsuki, and Shoto defeating Jailbreakers are added.
