Armored All Might

ArticleSource revision

The Armored All Might was a support item and robotic suit used by All Might.[1]

Description#

Armored All Might is a mechanical suit worn by All Might during the Final War, specifically designed to fight against All For One, despite his Quirkless state after transferring One For All to Deku. It is comprised of several scale-like robotic pieces that can be detached and applied, and shares a connection to his car, Hercules.

All Might spent almost his entire fortune he had saved up to develop the suit and items, with the production and delivery being so rushed that they never went through proper testing.[2] The suit was designed by Melissa Shield, based on specs from All Might himself. Each tool, gadget, and weapon is inspired by and named after the students of Class 1-A or their abilities.[1]

The Armored All Might suit was formidable enough to allow a powerless, aging All Might to go toe-to-toe with All For One in his physical prime thanks to the Rewind Drug, albeit slowly regressing in age as a side effect of taking the drug. The suit was capable of inflicting massive damage on All For One, accelerating the de-aging effects and further shortening his remaining lifespan.[3][4] Despite sustaining severe injuries beneath the armor and its eventual destruction, All Might endured long enough for Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight to take over the fight, demonstrating the remarkable resilience and effectiveness of the Armored All Might.[5]

The armored suit, as well as Hercules, are destroyed over the course of the final battle between All Might and All For One.[6] The data obtained from the battle using this suit was later utilized to develop a new armored suit that was given to Deku, allowing him to return to hero duty after losing One For All and becoming Quirkless himself once again.[7]

Abilities#

Armored All Might's Abilities

Image Name & Description

220px]] Red Riot|烈怒頼雄斗|Reddo Raiotto}}: Inspired by the Sturdy Hero's Hardening Quirk, All Might summons several armored plates from Hercules to encase his body, protecting him in a shield of armor. This module was capable of shielding All Might from All For One's Impure Beam, though its shields were damaged by 66%, leaving it unreusable.[1]

220px]] Blackwhip|ブラックウィップ|Burakku Wippu}}: Directly named after one of the One For All Hero's Quirks, All Might fires multiple cables from both arms, surrounding his target and restraining them by connecting the cables to nearby buildings. These cables were strong enough to bind All For One for a period of time.[1]
Chargebolt: All Might conducts electricity through the cables he fired out with Blackwhip, electrifying his target in a similar manner to the Stun Gun Hero's Electrification Quirk. These electric shocks were potent enough to interfere with All For One's regeneration, preventing him from healing properly.[1]

220px]] Cellophane|セロファン|Serofan}}: Copying the Taping Hero's Tape Quirk, All Might reels in the cables he previously fired out with Blackwhip, dragging his target closer to himself.[1]
Sugarman: All Might attaches a rocket thruster extension to his armor over one leg. He uses it to accelerate his kicks for a heavier impact, similar to the strengthening effects of the Sweets Hero's Sugar Rush Quirk. This allows All Might to use Shoot Style Smash, an Ultimate Move inspired by Deku's Full Cowl - Shoot Style.[1]

220px]] Utility Cape Auto-Guard: Dark Shadow/Tsukuyomi|ユーティリティマント・オートガード:ダークシャドウ/ツクヨミ|Yūtiritī Manto Ōto Gādo: Dāku Shadō/Tsukuyomi}}: All Might protects himself with a mechanical cape which automatically deploys and rearranges itself to cover his body, similar to how Dark Shadow protects its user, the Jet-Black Hero. This protected All Might from a combination attack from All For One using Spring-ify, Brawn Boost, Air Cannon, Rivet Stab, Dark Ball, and Impure Beam. However, the cape was still damaged, with All Might sustaining a few injuries in the process.[8]

220px]] Superacid Injection: Pinky|超酸注入:ピンキー|Chōsan Chūnyū: Pinkī}}: Mimicking the Ridley Hero's Acid Quirk, Hercules fires a rocket containing a syringe full of acid, which All Might catches out of the air and delivers into his target, dissolving them from the inside. It heavily damaged All For One to the point of turning his skin purple, forcing him to use some of his Quirks to expel it, which accelerated the de-aging effects of the Rewind Drug.[3]

220px]] Thrusters: Uravity and Ingenium|スラスター:ウラビティ・インゲニウム|Surasutā: Urabiti Ingeniumu}}: Taking inspiration from the Antigravity Hero's Zero Gravity Quirk and the Turbo Hero's Engine Quirk, All Might utilizes thrusters on his back and his legs to enhance his speed and mobility.[3]

220px]] Tailman|テイルマン|Teiruman}}: All Might generates a mechanical tail similar to the Martial Arts Hero's own to aid his defense, which was used to defend himself against a punch from All For One targeting All Might's chronic injury.[9]
Tentacole: All Might utilizes mechanical tentacles in a similar manner to the Tentacle Hero's Dupli-Arms Quirk to aid his mobility.[9] He used them to ensnare All For One and freeze him with Shoto before discarding them to escape the path of Can't Stop Twinkling.[4]
Froppy Suction Pads: The tips of All Might's Tentacole ends in suction pads to allow him to cling to surfaces, much like how the Rainy Season Hero can stick to walls with her Frog Quirk.[9]

220px]] Shoto|ショート|Shoto}}: All Might uses arm-mounted cannons to shoot ice, much like the cryokinetic abilities of the A.C. Hero's Half-Cold Half-Hot Quirk.[9]

220px]] Anima|アニマ|Anima}}: Copying the Petting Hero's ability to summon and command animals through his Anivoice Quirk, All Might uses bird-like drones which can pick up his motorcycle in order to deploy it as a weapon, and also direct energy sources from power plants to power up other gadgets and weapons.[9]

220px]] Can't Stop Twinkling|Can't Stop Twinkling|Kyanto Sutoppu Tuinkuringu}}: All Might fires an enormous laser beam not unlike the Shining Hero's Navel Laser Quirk from a device mounted to his motorcycle. He used it to speed up the Rewind Drug's de-aging effects and reduce what was left of All For One's lifespan.[9] In addition to having enough power to saw a building in half,[4] the laser also paid homage to Star and Stripe's Keraunos attack, though unlike her, All Might could not solidify it.[10] Since the engines overheated, causing the battery to fail, the device exploded before it could finish attacking its target.[4]

220px]] Soundwave Vibration: Earphone Jack|音波振動:イヤホンジャック|Onpa Shindō: Iyahon Jakku}}: All Might releases a powerful wave of sonic vibrations similar to those of the Hearing Hero's eponymous Quirk from his chest, which was used to disrupt All For One's movements when he tried to escape Can't Stop Twinkling's laser.[4]

220px]] Invisible Girl|インビジブルガール|Inbijiburu Gāru}}: A special optic resin coating the armor that allows All Might to be shielded from immense heat, which he used to protect himself from Can't Stop Twinkling's blast. It takes inspiration from the Stealth Hero's Invisibility Quirk.[4]

220px]] Morphing Armor: Creati|変形装甲:クリエティ|Henkei Sōkō: Kurieti}}: Parts of the suit are separated from the armor, which can be transformed into other objects, simulating the effects of the Everything Hero's Creation Quirk.[4]
Binding Rounds: Grape Juice: Balls created from the Morphing Armor: Creati that All Might uses to attach them to the target in a similar fashion to the Fresh-Picked Hero's Pop Off Quirk, which allowed him to pin All For One's arms to the ground.[4]

220px]] Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight|大•爆•殺•神ダイナマイト|Daibakusasshin Dainamaito}}: Directly modelled after the Bombshell Hero's Explosion Quirk, All Might detonates an explosion in his gauntlet.[11] He attempted to use this to take out both himself and All For One as a suicide bomb, but the villain thwarted him by impaling his arm with Spearlike Bones.[12] All Might would later give it to Dynamight for him to use as a splint for his damaged arm.[5] It was destroyed during Dynamight's battle with All For One as he used one last explosion to finally put an end to the villain once and for all.[13]

Trivia#

  • The design, properties, and function of the suit are similar to the Iron Man suit worn by the Marvel Comics superhero of the same name.
  • The tentacles spouting from the back of the suit also resemble those of Doctor Octopus.
  • While each of the support items are named after all the students of Class 1-A, the exceptions are Blackwhip, which is named after one of Deku's Quirks from One For All, and Dark Shadow, which is named after the Quirk itself rather than its user, Tsukuyomi.
  • Kohei Horikoshi later stated regarding Dark Shadow that it was a mistake and that it should've been called Tsukuyomi instead.[14] This error was corrected in the anime.[15]
  • The anime has several shots showing the inner workings of the Armored All Might, depicting several holographic readings whenever All Might attacks or is injured, and a final shot of its mechanics when he's preparing the Uravity and Ingenium Thrusters.
  • In the anime, the suit's A.I. voice provided by Hercules is played by Mirai Shida in Japanese and Erica Mendez in English, the actresses for Melissa Shield. Both were directed to resemble her voice due to her part in creating the suit, with Mirai's casting being a result of a suggestion made by Horikoshi to the anime staff.[16]
