This article is about the No. 3, formerly No. 23, Pro Hero known as "Mt. Lady". For the Eight Bullets member of the Shie Hassaikai, see Yu Hojo.
Yu Takeyama,[5] also known as the Peak Hero: Mt. Lady, is the current No. 3,[6] former No. 23 Pro Hero, and a member of The Lurkers.
Appearance#
Yu is an above-average height young woman of fair skin and curvaceous frame. She has magenta eyes with white pupils and long eyelashes. She has voluminous, creamy blonde hair reaching down to her waist, with two shorter strands tightly curled to frame her face, parted slightly to her right.
Her first costume is composed of a purple and pale tan-colored skin-tight bodysuit, which is accented with orange stripes. The suit appears to have a pair of purple gloves with orange accents on the edge of the cuff. The design is similar for her "boots" which are cut off at the thigh in a deep v-shape. The suit also has three peculiar orange diamond-shaped dots on the purple top that are located under her chest, and she also wears a purple domino mask with horn-like protrusions on the sides.
Following the aftermath of the Paranormal Liberation War, Yu now has a scar over her left eye and a neck brace, but prior the Final War, the neck brace is removed.
After the Final War in the anime, Yu is seen wearing a modified version of her old costume. The orange collar of her costume extends down her chest and the orange diamond-shaped dots are below the purple midriff. Her purple "gloves" were also shorter while her purple "boots" reached up to her waist.
Eight years after the Final War, Yu has gained a more athletic build, with her hair fuller and wavier, her bangs are no longer curled, and her scar is gone.
Her hero costume now sports a drastically different design on her bodysuit, with tan being the more dominant color over purple. The three diamond-shaped marks were relocated to the top of her chest instead of below and are now much larger and colored purple. Her "boots" now have a longer inverted v-shape, and meet to the sides of her stomach. Her "gloves" follow the same design philosophy, completely enveloping her arms, and meeting down the sides of her chest and her neck to form a collared pattern. Additionally, the horns on her domino mask now curve backward, and the bottom portion of the eyeholes have a small spike sticking outward, with it somewhat resembling Midnight's mask.
Personality#
Yu is an ambitious and egotistical woman who enjoys the attention that being a hero gives her and doesn't feel any shame over taking that fame from another hero while basking in the glory. She is shown to be quite vain as she uses her ample sex appeal to further her popularity. This vanity also extends to shamelessness, as she isn't above making a lewd pun about her body or using her attractiveness to gain something. Yu has a fierce temperament, along with a propensity for pushing people's buttons, as she didn't hesitate to poke fun at Midnight during a talk show interview, something that led to a physical fight between the two while they were on air. She also appears to be very lazy, as during Minoru Mineta's internship, she forced him to do menial work instead of actually training him.[7] She is shown to have a lecherous side as well, as seen when she takes an interest in Shoto Todoroki. [8] Overall, while Yu means well as a hero, she is heavily drawn to achieving and indulging in her popularity, doing very little to hide her greed and love of fame.
However, she is not careless, as she will not transform into her giant form in confined spaces in fear of destroying nearby buildings and risk harming civilians. She was also careful when facing a villain who had taken a family hostage. Despite her vanity, she has shown to be brave and selfless when the occasion calls for it, as she stopped Mr. Compress from reaching Izuku Midoriya's group after they saved Katsuki Bakugo, even though she was already severely injured from All For One's attack.[9] She also protected a group of civilians from All Might's Detroit Smash shock wave during her debut. This shows that, despite her faults, she is serious about being a hero and does take her job seriously. Despite her love for fame and attention, she doesn't like to talk about her private life, refusing to say any comment about the rumors of her alleged romance with her fellow hero and teammate Kamui Woods.
Following All Might's retirement and Endeavor taking stand as the new No. 1 hero, Yu appears to have taken a more serious standing to her job as a hero rather than just being focused on the attention she receives, as noted by Minoru. Shota Aizawa claims that this is the effect Endeavor's uprising has had on many Pro Heroes. Yu herself even tells Class 1-A that people have had enough of the celebrity aspect of heroes and wish to see them do their jobs in earnest. Furthermore, unlike her comrade Death Arms, she didn't quit after the Paranormal Liberation War in spite of the rising hatred against heroes, assisting in the operation to track down All For One and demonstrating her commitment.
Abilities#
Immense Strength: Yu possesses incredible strength befitting her giant form. She's powerful enough to knock out another giant villain with one kick to the jaw, and during the Kamino Incident was able to destroy the front of All For One's Nomu factory with one axe kick. During the events of the Paranormal Liberation War, Yu displayed the ability to compete with Geten in battle, and later was capable of slowing down Gigantomachia, even forcing his mouth open. In the Final War, with the aid of Rule enlarging support items, Yu fought alongside Fumikage Tokoyami and Gigantomachia to hold back the rewinding All For One.
Immense Durability: Yu's durability is similarly augmented to her strength. She was able to survive All For One's Air Cannon attack, however it knocked her out for a time. She did display enough tolerance after the fact to utilize her Quirk to protect the U.A. students from the League of Villains. During the raid of the Gunga Mountain Villa, Yu went up against Geten and was able to shrug off one of his attacks before engaging him. Later in the battle, she survived attacks from Gigantomachia, albeit with heavy injury. In the Final War, she once again withstood being attacked by Machia, but was able to keep moving and even survive an Air Cannon from All For One without going down.
Seduction: Yu is a prominent user of the seductive arts, using her looks to get what she wants. This was shown when she convinced a stand vender at the U.A. Sports Festival to give her free food.
Keen Intellect: Despite not being shown using any strategy in combat, Yu still proved that she is a hero that can grasp the context quickly. She can observe and understand what plan her allies are having, and provide any possible support at critical moments without being told beforehand, such as when she protected Izuku's group as mentioned above, or when she tried to pry Gigantomachia's mouth to help the U.A. High School students put the sedative into his mouth.[10]
Quirk#
Gigantification: Yu's Quirk allows her to grow to a gigantic size.
She cannot variate between her base-height and the gigantified height achieved via her Quirk, making her only able to be either her normal height of 162cm (5 feet 4 inches) or her enlarged height of 2,062cm (67 feet 8 inches) tall.[3]
Ultimate Moves#
- Canyon Cannon: While in her giant form, Mt. Lady performs a flying kick.[11]
- Titan Cliff: Mt. Lady grows into her giant form and headbutts the enemy. Mt. Lady used this move to intercept Mr. Compress when he tried to chase after Katsuki.[9]

Her hard work is also what brought her into the Hideout Raid Team.

- Yu sometimes worries about how she looks in the field, resulting in her having a disrespectful attitude towards her senior colleagues. Despite this, she always maintains her dignity as a hero.
- Upon starting her career, Yu only cared about achieving fame at first, but her views began to change upon joining The Lurkers.
- Her personality is described as "self-interested".
- Yu might have been inspired by Western superheroes and supervillains like Stature, Giganta, or Tara Fremont.
- Yu also shares many visual similarities with Stature, including costume and hair.
- Yu, Giganta, and Tara Fremont all have the ability to increase their entire physical size to a giant size. Stature also shares that ability, but can also decrease her physical size.
- Yu shares the same first name as Eight Bullets member Yu Hojo; however, the kanji symbols for their names are different and therefore have different readings.
- Yu's Hero Epithet was originally written as "Mineyama Hero"[12], it was later renamed to "Peak Hero".[6]
- During the raid on the Paranormal Liberation Front villa, Yu claims to have not clung onto a guy since middle school while trying to stop Gigantomachia.[13]
- Following the timeskip, Mt. Lady is the highest-ranking female Pro Hero in Japan, reaching the ranking of No. 3.[6]
- Kohei Horikoshi once saw a woman cosplaying as Mt. Lady when he attended Comic Con in America, finding it amazing that someone would cosplay as a minor character from his series and making him realize just how popular it had become.[14]
Quotes#
- (To the public upon defeating the Giant Villain) "Today's my debut! Pleased to meet you all! You can call me Mt. Lady!"[15]
- (To Izuku, Tenya, and Eijiro upon rescuing Katsuki) "Prioritize... the rescue... Go on...! You dumb kids..."[16]
- (To Class 1-A) "It might seem the winds of good fortune are blowing our way... But if you stop and think about the flip side of all this... It's actually coming from a sense of urgency - A response to danger! These cheers for the conquering Heroes... are really prayers - a plea that we might emerge victorious! They've had enough of the showbiz side of heroism... and want us to prove our worth for real now!"[8]
