Deborah Gollini is a member of the Gollini Family mafia in My Hero Academia: You're Next.
Appearance#
Deborah is a tall woman with a voluptuous physique. She has long, flowing black hair that goes past her shoulders, sharp green eyes surrounded by salmon eyeshadow, and wears purple lipstick. She wears a dark dress with a neck and top covered in a dark spider cobweb design and has a large brown belt around her waist. Her sleeves and bottom of the dress are feather-like in design and she wears falu red heels. She wears a large black-brimmed hat adorned with a single red rose (like the other members of the Gollini Family) and wears golden crescent shaped earrings.
After being shot in the shoulder by Giulio's prosthetic gun arm, Deborah's hat falls off. Shortly after being rescued by Kamile, she has the left sleeve of her dress removed, her shoulder bandaged up, and her arm put in a blue cast.
Personality#
Like many of the Gollini Family members, Deborah loves to toy with her enemies or victims as seen when she asked Anna if she was scared to have left the Gollini Family before activating her Quirk to make the scared girl compliant to her and her boss. Her snide attitude extends to her allies as well, as she taunted Paulo for allowing Ginji Kurau to escape with Anna.
After her Quirk was boosted by Anna's Overmodification, Deborah became ecstatic with being able to use her Quirk more freely, not even being intimidated by the arrival of multiple Heroes from Class 1-A. When confronted by Deku and Giulio, Deborah sadistically defends that her Quirk isn't brainwashing but simply letting her victims to enjoy "nice dreams" while telling the two that she wouldn't leave them out of the fun.
Deborah also shows to be quite ruthless, upon sensing that Giulio could jeopardize the Gollini Family's plans, she ordered him to be killed while the butler was helpless; having a brainwashed civilian with a long arm Quirk try to strangle him the first time, and then having a controlled Anna almost stab him to death, much to the girl's horror once she was finally freed from Deborah's Quirk.
Despite her usually calm nature and powerful Quirk, she is fearful and loud at certain moments. When facing Dark Might after failing him, she was unable to look at him. Furthermore, when Giulio tried to fire at her head but turned out to be out of bullets, the scared Deborah proceeded to burst into a fit of laughter and hysteria before becoming surprised and scared again when Giulio's remaining artificial limb (a propelling leg booster) revealed itself. As Giulio takes flight and chases her down, Deborah tries to run away in fear before he crashes into her, defeating her.
Abilities#
Quirk#
Day Dream: Deborah's Quirk allows her to make any person she looks at fall unconscious, or to be put in a controllable, hypnotic state for a short period of time. Once she has locked onto a target just by sight alone, the victim's mind will be stuck in a dream-like world where they live out their deepest dreams and desires, rendering them nearly helpless. Deborah also appears able to see what dreams her victims are having.
Under normal conditions, she is only able to activate her Quirk on one person at a time, but when her Quirk Factor is amplified by Anna's Overmodification, she can use it on a near endless amount of people.
This Quirk has no effect on technology or support items, allowing hypnotized victims who rely on them, such as Giulio Gandini's cybernetic eye, to escape her Quirk's entrapment. In the case of someone with multiple Quirks, Vestiges can also bring the victim back to their senses, as seen with Deku. Furthermore, Deborah's victims will be freed if she is injured.
Equipment#
- Dagger: Deborah possessed a dagger which she gave to Anna upon commanding her to kill Giulio.
Trivia#
- Deborah heavily resembles Lust from the Fullmetal Alchemist series, with both women embodying the sin of lust amongst a villainous group that take after the Seven Deadly Sins, having long black hair, dresses, and serving white-clad villains who are evil doppelgangers of heroic characters; Dark Might and Father.
- Deborah's attire also resembles that of Alcina Dimitrescu from Resident Evil: Village, who was also inspired by Lust, even sharing her Japanese voice actress.
- Deborah also shares many similarities to the DC Comics villain the Mad Hatter, with both characters wearing big hats, possessing hypnotic abilities that allow them to brainwash and enslave others, and both enjoy targeting their powers on one particular young woman.
