Shota fends off the villains on his own and leaves Thirteen to evacuate with the class. They prepare to escape, but they are cut off by the villain Kurogiri. Katsuki and Eijiro attack him, but end up dealing no damage. Kurogiri responds by warping the class to various areas in the facility.[5]

After being warped alongside his class by Kurogiri, Mashirao is all by himself in the conflagration zone, fighting villains through hit-and-run tactics.[6] He manages to survive until the teachers arrive to save the students and arrest the villains, being rescued by Power Loader.

Once the League of Villains is defeated, Mashirao reunites with his classmates. Toru, who had been warped along with Shoto, tells Mashirao about Shoto's incredible power, as he single-handedly defeated all the villains in the area to which they were sent.[7]

The final event is a tournament event, but Mashirao requests withdrawal from the event, saying that his participation in the Human Cavalry Battle was done by being manipulated and insinuates that it was because of Hitoshi's Quirk. Mashirao says that he understands that the tournament event is a rare opportunity and that walking away would be foolish, but while everyone was giving their best on their own he was not doing his best due to being manipulated.

Toru and Mina Ashido try to persuade him to reconsider, but Mashirao replies that he is saving his dignity. Midnight, liking his reasoning for resignation accepts Mashirao's withdrawal from the tournament event. When Hitoshi approaches Izuku Midoriya, Mashirao advises Izuku not to respond to Hitoshi's provocations. During the recreation events, Mashirao is seen calming Izuku's nerves. After the match between Hitoshi and Izuku began and Izuku is stopped from attacking Hitoshi, Mashirao says that he warned Izuku.[10]

Vs. Hero Killer Arc#

Two days after the U.A. Sports Festival, Mashirao is in class. During the Hero Informatics period, Class 1-A has to decide on hero names. Mashirao writes down and reveals his hero name: Martial Arts Hero: Tailman.[12]

After Class 1-A is finished formulating their hero names, Mina is given a list of forty workplaces in order to choose a workplace that she wants to train at. Mashirao talks to her, noting that she should have more nominations because she put on a good show at the Sports Festival. On the day of the workplace training, Mashirao is at the train station with his class so that he can travel to the workplace of his choice by train.[13]

Workplace training comes to an end and Mashirao returns to U.A. High School In Class 1-A, Mashirao notes that if the Hero Killer would have been present with the League of Villains at the U.S.J., they would not have made it out unscathed. During Foundational Hero Studies, Mashirao, Izuku, Tenya Ida, Mina, and Hanta Sero are the first group to partake in the rescue training race.

The race begins and Mashirao uses his tail to maneuver around the construction site and he is shocked when Izuku quickly takes the lead, with him being speechless at the latter's newly improved skills and overcoming his drawbacks before he accidentally trips and loses the race. Eventually, Mashirao completes the race as All Might commends the group for improving their Quirks broadly since entering U.A. and asks them to prepare for the end-of-term test.[14]

Final Exams Arc#

One week before the end of term test, Mashirao asks Momo Yaoyorozu to help him study. Throughout the final week before the end of term test, Mashirao studies under Momo's tutoring along with Denki Kaminari, Mina, Kyoka Jiro, and Hanta. On the day of the exercise test, Nezu reveals that Class 1-A will be fighting against U.A.'s teachers for their exercise test.[15] Mashirao is paired with Tenya and must face Power Loader in their test exercise.

Tenya, Mashirao, and Power Loader arrive in an uninhabited city where their test exercise will take place. Power Loader explains the 30-minute test; Tenya and Mashirao must either handcuff him or one of them must escape the battlefield within 30 minutes in order to win and pass the test. The test begins.[16]

Tenya and Mashirao manage to get past Power Loader and pass the practical test.[17]

Back in class at U.A., Mashirao learns that he passed the written test and will go to the forest lodge with his classmates which is a boot camp. Mashirao is happy that everyone will be able to go to the forest lodge. The next day, Mashirao along with his classmates go to Kiyashi Ward Shopping Mall.[18]

My Hero Academia: Two Heroes#

At some point Ojiro arrives to I-Island.

Mashirao hangs out with the rest of his class after the I-Island Expo opens up.[19]

Forest Training Camp Arc#

Following the shopping mall incident, Shota Aizawa informs Class 1-A that the destination for their lodge trip has been changed and the new destination will only be announced on the day of the event. The first semester has come to a close and summer break has begun.[20]

A day prior to summer break, Izuku invites all the boys of Class 1-A to the pool for endurance training. The boys take a break after an intense training and Tenya decides to hold a competition to see who can swim the fastest. He loses against Izuku. Later, they're all kicked out by Shota.[21]

Summer break begins and Class 1-A rides a bus to a forest reserve belonging to the hero team: The Wild, Wild Pussycats. Pixie-Bob and Mandalay introduce themselves and challenge the students to reach base camp past the forest in three hours. Mashirao and his class are forcibly thrown into The Beast's Forest by Pixie-Bob's Quirk. The students are attacked by dirt monsters created by Pixie-Bob.[22] Mashirao uses his Tail alongside Fumikage Tokoyami's Dark Shadow to knock one of the beasts off balance. Then Yuga Aoyama serves up a finishing blow with his Navel Laser.[23]

Class 1-A begins traversing the Beast's Forest, destroying any dirt monster that faces them. However, they don't arrive at base camp for several hours. Well over their time limit, Class 1-A arrives at the base camp exhausted and battered. Mandalay reveals the time limit was the expectancy for actual heroes, not the students. Class 1-A fetch their luggage from the bus and put it in their rooms, and later go to the dining hall and the Pussycats serve dinner.[24]

The next day at 5:30 AM, Class 1-A are outside the training camp cabin. Shota greets his students and tells them that they will undergo reinforcement training to strengthen and upgrade their Quirks. Mashirao trains with Eijiro Kirishima. His training consists of constantly attacking Eijiro with his Hardening activated, in this way they can increase the strength of each other's Quirk.[25]

After another day of intense training, Mashirao prepares to participate in a courage test organized by the Pussycats, being paired with Minoru Mineta. However, before he has the opportunity to participate in, the Vanguard Action Squad of the League of Villains invaded the place that night. Mandalay tells the Class 1-A students who are not participating in the test to leave.[26]

Mashirao, along with Tenya, Minoru, and Koji Koda arrive at the facility, where they see Shota holding Dabi, who disintegrates after receiving great damage. Shota orders the students to go into the facility, while he heads into the forest himself.[27] The teachers, heroes and the students that are still in the woods fights against the Vanguard Action Squad members, but despite their efforts, the League manages to kidnap Bakugo, leaving several students injured.[28]

Hideout Raid Arc#

After the capture of Katsuki Bakugo, the training camp ends and Mashirao returns home. Two days later, he visits Izuku in the hospital along with many of his peers, where he hears Eijiro and Shoto's plan to rescue Katsuki, asking Izuku to join them. Although he does not oppose the intentions of his classmates, Mashirao does nothing to stop them.[29]

Provisional Hero License Exam Arc#

Due to the attack of the villains, after Katsuki's rescue and All Might retirement, the U.A. decides, as a security measure, to build the Heights Alliance, a group of buildings inside the campus, where the students will reside. Shota meets with his students outside of the building. He states they must start preparing to get provisional hero licenses like they had planned to during the training camp.

Before allowing Class 1-A students to enter in their new residence, Shota scolds the entire class for having allowed five of them to rescue Katsuki without a license and did nothing to stop them. He further more says he would have expelled everyone but Katsuki, Toru, and Kyoka, if it weren't for All Might's sudden retirement and asked them to stick to the rules from now on.

Class 1-A arrange their luggage in their respective bedrooms. Later that night, the boys of Class 1-A are in the common space on the first floor. The girls of Class 1-A show up and suggest a room showcasing competition. When they check Mashirao‘s room, they see that it's "completely normal", in the sense that it has nothing to make it stand out. It deeply upsets him when people have to force themselves to say meaningful things about his room. Momo, in particular, thinks he hasn't started unpacking yet.[30]

The following day, Shota tells class 1-A that their next goal is to obtain their "Provisional Hero Licenses". To ensure success in the Provisional Hero License exam, they will develop their own ultimate moves. The class visits the Gym Gamma, where Cementoss creates a training ground for the class with Ectoplasm using his Quirk to create villains for the class to practice their moves on. Mashirao uses his tail to fight, but the Ectoplasm clone claims that he is being too predictable, and fighting exactly how someone with a tail would be expected to fight, so they will have to reexamine the fundamentals of how he moves. Mashirao understands that what he means is that he is too normal.[31]

Mashirao continues to train with his classmates following up on the day of the Provisional Hero License Exam. Outside of the National Dagobah Arena, Class 1-A meets with students from Shiketsu High School and Ketsubutsu Academy High School. The first part of the exam involves thinning out the number of people who can succeed by playing a game, where people put three targets on their body and are given six balls to throw at the other examinee's marks. Those whose targets have been hit are disqualified. Participants need to eliminate two students to move on to the next phase of the exam.[32]

The room in which the students are in unfolds to reveal the arena, in which there are varying environments to battle in. As the exam starts, the rest of the schools all attack U.A. at once, however, Class 1-A is able to defend themselves thanks to their ultimate moves. Yo Shindo uses his Vibrate Quirk on the ground, unleashing a powerful earthquake that completely shatters the ground and causing members of class 1-A to disperse.[33]

Due to this attack, Mashirao is separated from his classmates, having to defend against attacks from rivals while looking for his companions. He managed to group up with Minoru, Toru, and Mina. As the exam reached its end, Mashirao and his group managed to locate Tenya and Yuga, thanks to him firing his laser into the sky, and it is not long before the rest of the classmates who had not passed the exam join them.

The members of the class 1-A collaborate together to defeat the rivals and pass the first round. Minoru lays down traps using his sticky spheres and Mashirao uses his tail to knock students into them. Toru uses her Warp Refraction Ultimate Move to blind nearby students. Using Toru's light as a distraction, Mashirao attaches his balls to two examinees while Toru herself attaches her balls to two examinees allowing them to pass. One by one, all Class 1-A students manage to eliminate other students and successfully pass the first phase of the exams.[34]

Mashirao waits with his classmates until the Second Exam of the Provisional Hero License Exam begins. It consists of a rescue mission, and the scenario is that a villain terrorist attack has destroyed the city and there are many victims. The students are expected to rescue H.U.C employees who will act like victims.[35] Mashirao performs the rescues until the exam becomes more complicated when Gang Orca and his sidekicks arrive, acting as villains.[36]

Mashirao, along with Fumikage and Mina, arrives to help the evacuation effort at the waterfront[37] Mashirao later returns to the battlefield and wraps his tail around one of the cement guns to aim it at the villains. He informs Izuku all the injured have been evacuated and reinforcements will arrive soon. More students arrive to help until the end of the exam is announced, and the provisional hero license exam is officially closed.[38]

The results of the Provisional Hero License Exam are presented on the screen, and Mashirao is one of the students who pass the exam, receiving his provisional license, although he passes the exam with 61 points.[39]

Shie Hassaikai Arc#

The next day, Class 1-A attend the U.A. opening ceremony. After the opening ceremony, at classes, Shota talks about Hero Work-Studies, hero activities done off-campus. Three days later, Shota introduces to Class 1-A to the people who will teach them about Hero Work-Studies: Mirio Togata, Tamaki Amajiki, and Nejire Hado, better known as The Big 3.[40] Despite their reputation as the best candidates for heroes of the U.A., they are actually all a bunch of easygoing eccentrics. Class 1-A gets confused when Mirio challenges them all to a fight.

At Gym Gamma, Mirio tells Class 1-A to attack him whenever and wherever they want.[41] Mashirao attacks him, but Mirio completely wiping the floor with Class A without breaking a sweat, thanks to his Quirk, Permeation. While Class 1-A recovers from their defeat, Mirio explains how his Quirk works and advises class 1-A to participate in the Hero Work-Studies, as it will help them improve their career to be heroes, just as it helped him become one of the best students in the U.A.[42]

Remedial Course Arc#

Weeks later, after the police raid at the base of Shie Hassaikai, Izuku, Eijiro, Ochaco, and Tsuyu return to their dormitories at the school, where Mashirao, along the entirety of Class 1-A, is checking to make sure his classmates are doing okay, after their mission.[43]

U.A. School Festival Arc#

Days later, Shota Aizawa announces that U.A. High School will be having a School Festival and tells Class 1-A to pick out a program to perform at the festival. All the students give their idea about what they should do for the festival, but they do not reach an agreement. Later at Heights Alliance, the entire Class 1-A decides that their school festival program will be a live performance and dance with party space.[44]

Class A-1 students are divided into three groups, Band team, Dance team and Staging team. Mashirao is part of the Dance Team.[45] Until the festival, the dance team constantly practices the choreography that Mina creates. When Mirio arrives at U.A. with Eri in tow, for some reason Mashirao immediately assumes that Eri is Mirio's child.[46]

On the appointed day, Mashirao had the role of tying the rope around Yuga so he could be raised by the crew. The performance of Class 1-A ends up being a huge success.[47]

Pro Hero Arc#

As November comes to a close, the Wild Wild Pussycats pay a visit to Class 1-A to celebrate Ragdoll's reinstatement.[48]

Joint Training Arc#

Shota Aizawa and Vlad King hold a Joint Training Battle between their classes during the early days of winter. Class 1-A groups up in the industrial training area from the final exams. Several members of the class show off their costume changes, Mashirao comments on Izuku's costume, bringing up the glove upgrade that Mei made for him before the U.A. School Festival. Ochaco, hearing Izuku mention Mei, recalls various images of both together. She quickly attempts to punch that memory out of her head, to Mashirao's shock. Mashirao is surprised again when he sees that Hitoshi is a guest for this exercise, due being reviewed for consideration into the Hero Course.

Vlad King and Shota begin the exercise immediately afterward. Each class chooses lots to split into five teams of four. As the teams are set, Mashirao is placed with Tenya, Mezo and Shoto, and they will face Class B's team of Pony Tsunotori, Sen Kaibara, Juzo Honenuki and Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu at Round 3.[49]

Class 1-A's team heads to their rivals location. Shoto freezes the area with a giant ice attack that capture the entire Class 1-B team. Tenya and Mashirao lie in wait, believing that covering everything in ice will negate Juzo's ability, but they discovers that Juzo had foreseen this and uses his Quirk to soften Shoto's ice, freeing his companions, who rush against Class 1-A's team. Mashirao notices Juzo's reflexes were fast enough to counter and tries to retreat. However, he loses his footing on a piece of pipe that Juzo had previously softened. Sen rushes Mashirao, using his arms to drill against him. Mashirao blocks the attack with his tail but feels the damage from Sen's Quirk.[50]

While Mashirao fending off Sen in a typical melee, his classmates who are watching the round comment he fights plainly. For some reason, this causes Mashirao to feel pain in the heart. Mashirao notices that Sen has extremely hard support items on his fingers, making his drill attacks very dangerous, chipping away at Mashirao's flesh with every strike. Before Sen can land another hit on Mashirao, Tenya speeds past, capturing Sen and running off to put him in the Class 1-B jail. Tenya shouts at Mashirao to go to help Todoroki.[51]

While it was going towards where Todoroki was, it sees to Mezo and to Pony fighting and decides to take part to help its teammate. Mashirao destroys Pony's horn-proyectiles with his Tornado Tail Dance attack and grabs her by the horns. He says that if he can prevent her horns from firing off, then she is not much of a threat. Pony is frustrated and says that the way he got her was so ordinary. Mezo tells Mashirao to take her to the prison while Mashirao tells him to go support Shoto.[52]

Juzo appears behind Mezo using his Quirk to softened the ground, sinking both under the ground and tries to force Mashirao to release Pony, but Mashirao counters with his Swamp Smack Spin Ultimate Move. This helps Juzo and Mashirao get free, with Pony still trapped in Mashirao's tail. However, this action allows Pony to re-control her projectiles, and throws two of his horns at Mashirao, nailing them to his tail. Despite the pain, Mashirao does not release Pony, but she uses her horns again and this time she send Mashirao into her team's prison, eliminating him from the battle.

With Mashirao eliminated, both teams continue fighting until the twenty-minute time limit expires. The battle ends in a 1-1 draw. Mashirao goes to Recovery Girl's office, who heals his wounds and gives him a Snicker before leaving.[53]

After the match, Mashirao watches the remaining rounds and celebrates with his classmates Class 1-A victory in the Joint Training Battle.[54] Despite their victory over Class 1-B, there are no hard feelings, and both classes hanging out together after the exercise, happily socializing in the common area.[55]

My Hero Academia: Heroes: Rising#

During fall, the Hero Public Safety Commission devises the Hero Work Recommendation Project, to help to train the new generation of Heroes due All Might retirement. Weeks go by, and shortly after winter begins, after the Hero Interview Training, Class 1-A is sent to Nabu Island, a remote place in southern Japan. The Pro Heroes who protected the island are about to retire, so the students will take care of the place, performing duties as real heroes acting like their own "Hero Office", until the arrival of new Pro Heroes.

Because Nabu Island is quite isolated from the rest of the country, and therefore far from any villain activity, there has been no notable incident since the last thirty years. For this reason, their work on the island basically involve mostly minor deeds. Mashirao works alongside several of his classmates on the beach as lifesavers. Minoru saves two girls from being getting hit on by two guys, only that the girls believe Mashirao saved them and thank him. Mashirao blushes and says it wasn't him.

At night, after working all day, all Class 1-A students mention that despite the fact that they only did minor deeds, this kind of hero work is still hard, even though they're not fighting anyone. The grateful island citizens bring a bunch of food for the kids as a token of appreciation for their help. After dinner, he goes with other students at the onsen bath.

The next day, Mashirao returns to his duties on the beach, along with Mezo, Tsuyu, and Fumikage. But that day Nine and his gang attack the island, and the four students confront his henchman Chimera. While Tsuyu is tasked with evacuating all the beach goers, Mashirao, Mezo, and Fumikage fight Chimera, but the villain proves being to much for them. Since everyone's cellphones aren't working, Mashirao tells Fumikage to go back to the Hero Agency to ask for help while he tries to face the villain the best he can. Although reluctant, Fumikage obeys.

While Fumikage went to ask for reinforcements, Mashirao and Mezo continue fighting against Chimera. Mashirao takes the initiative and attacks the villain, but he is defeated after taking a devastating punch from him, being knocked out and having to be evacuated, just when Fumikage arrives with help. Despite the students outnumbering Chimera, they can't defeat them, and the villain fights them long enough until he receives the order to withdraw.

At night, the students retreat to a factory to heal their wounds and provide first aid to the inhabitants of the island. Mashirao helps distribute meals among the refugees along with several of his classmates. Later, Class 1-A have a meeting where they discover that the objective of the villain leader is to steal the Cell Activation Quirk from a boy named Katsuma. With this information, they devise a plan to approach them in front and keep civilians safe

The plan is to lure the villains to the furthest corner of the island where ancient castle ruins are. The heroes will engage the villains using the terrain to their advantage and spit the villains apart, so each member has to face several students alone. After his previous fight against Nine, Izuku concludes that Nine cannot use his multiple Quirks for too long as he suffers from intense pain when he does. To deal with Nine, everyone will attacks him in waves to force Nine to use his Quirks all the time until he reaches his limit and cannot continue fighting. Mashirao, Mezo, and Kyoka are in charge of guarding Katsuma and her sister Mahoro while the remaining students face the villains.

The next morning, Nine and his gang arrive at the entrance to the island. They fall into Class 1-A's trap and are forced to split up by Yuga and Momo's Ultimate Moves; and following Izuku's plan, the students take turns attacking Nine to force him to use his Quirks as much as possible. The students are on the verge of winning when, in his despair, Nine injects himself a high dose of Quirk's enhancer drug and defeats everyone.

The situation for Class 1-A is growing desperate. Kyoka and Mashirao tell Mezo to protect and take the kids away as they go forth and fight Nine. They ambush the villain in a bridge, which they destroy by using Kyoka's Heartbeat Fuzz and Mashirao's Tornado Tail Dance. Nine falls into the fissure but he quickly summons his Hydra Quirk to escape, smashing Kyoka and Mashirao in the process. Mezo is about to escape with the children when he is attacked by Nine. The injured Mashirao and Kyoka catch them up and attack Nine with Mezo tackling in, but the villain uses his Air Wall Quirk at full potential to blast all three of them away, defeating them.

Nine is in pain by dealing with the constant attacks from Class 1-A members, but his prize is finally now at his fingertips. Fortunately, Izuku and Katsuki arrive in time to confront him. While Mashirao is unconscious, Izuku and Katsuki manage to defeat Nine, saving the island and its inhabitants in the process. After Class 1-A emerged victorious over the threat, the military and a large number of heroes arrive on Nabu Island, rescuing the civilians and medically treating Class 1-A. The villains are arrested, and Class 1-A continues to stay on Nabu Island to help repair the damage done by Nine and his villains until the Public Safety Commission suspends the program and orders them to be sent home.

With the island being repaired by the military and the heroes, Class 1-A boards a ferry to return to the U.A. High School.[56]

Endeavor Agency Arc#

Mashirao participates in a Hero Interview Training impart by Mt. Lady.[57] Days later, the Hero Work Recommendation Project takes place, staying on Nabu Island before returning.[56]

On the night of Christmas Eve, Mashirao celebrates Christmas with his classmates, holding a surprise gift exchange. Mashirao is shocked when he sees that Fumikage has brought a massive sword to the gift exchange, and gets even more shocked when he sees that the weapon ends up going to Eri.[58]

With Hero Work-Studies back in effect, With the start of the second Hero-Work Study, Mashirao and Rikido Sato team up with Jurota Shishida and Nirengeki Shoda from Class 1-B to be trained by the hero Shishido.[59]

My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission#

As a member of the Shishido Agency, Mashirao participates in the World Heroes Association's mission to take down Humarise, an anti-Quirk cult that caused the deaths of thousands of people with a Trigger Bomb. The entire Shishido Agency travels to the U.S.A. to join the America Task Force to take part in the assault on the branch that Humarise has in the country along with many other heroes.

The raid ends with the heroes defeating and arresting hundreds of Humarise members, however no Trigger Bombs were found in the building. Because of that, the director of the WHA orders all the teams to remain alert in their respective countries. Several days later, Flect Turn, the leader of Humarise, publicly broadcasts to the entire world that in two hours they will detonate all the Trigger Bombs they have planted in the twenty-five cities where its branches used to be, including New York.

As a consequence of this threat, panic breaks out in the streets of the city, causing numerous altercations and incidents. The heroes quickly deploy to evacuate civilians, extricate the injured, and search for the Trigger Bombs. Mashirao participates in the evacuations, and when the Trigger Bombs are found, he also participates in the fights against the Humarise agents who are protecting the deadly devices.

The fighting continues until the detonation countdown ends, but to the relief of the heroes, the bombs do not explode. This is thanks to Izuku's group breaking into Humarise's main headquarters and successfully defused the bombs worldwide. With the main threat solved, the heroes defeat and imprison the last members of Humarise, dismantling the organization. Once the worldwide crisis is over, Shishido Agency leaves the country and Mashirao returns to U.A. High School, meeting up with his classmates and rejoice that everyone is okay.[60]

Paranormal Liberation War Arc#

Winter break ends and the students return from their Work-Studies to show their progress with their Quirks and skills.[61] At Ground Alpha, under the supervision of All Might, the students battle Villain Bots to show off the new skills and Ultimate Moves they have developed.

Mashirao and Rikido, who worked with the No. 13 Pro Hero, Shishido, show off their improved attacking speed and predictive abilities.[62] Later at night, he helps his classmates to organize a Work Study/Brainstorm/Hot pot party to energize everyone for the new term.[63]

The months go by until it's late March. The Hero Public Safety Commission had uncovered the plans of Tomura Shigaraki and his organization, the Paranormal Liberation Front. They organize a large force of heroes to take the villain organization down. While a team of heroes raid the Jaku General Hospital, where the Nomu are created, another team does the same at Gunga Mountain Villa, the Front's main headquarters.

Mashirao is a member of the Villa Backup Team along with some of his classmates and Class 1-B students. Their mission is to provide support to the heroes who raid the Gunga Mountain Villa and prevent villains from escaping.[64][65]

Later, when Gigantomachia wakes up on Tomura Shigaraki's orders and goes towards him carrying the PLF lieutenants on his back, Mashirao is with the other students in the rear lines. They get a call from Midnight telling them how to defeat Gigantomachia and Momo starts making up the plan to take the giant down by generating numerous vials filled with sedatives.[66]

Following Momo's lead, the students set the trap for Gigantomachia by softening the ground. As they planned, Gigantomachia falls into their trap and the students begin their assault. Mashirao is part of the group tasked with attacking the PLF Lieutenants so they don't interfere while the others try to make Gigantomachia swallow a vial. He and Mezo throw multiple Pointers Disks from Denki's Sharpshooting Gear, which stick to their bodies, giving Denki a chance to shock them, but he is stopped by Mr. Compress before he can do it.

The other Lieutenants and Gigantomachia manage to repel the assault,[67] but the students continue attacking, and finally with the help of some heroes and great efforts, they get Gigantomachia to swallow a vial. More heroes led by Majestic arrive to take charge of Gigantomachia now that he has ingested the sedative, because the more he moves the faster it will spread.[68]

Gigantomachia, takes on an armored appearance and easily defeats the heroes, and continues on his way to Tomura. Before being killed, Majestic uses his Quirk to bring the U.A. students to safety, who can only watch helplessly as the giant devastates everything in his path.[69]

After several days, all the students of Class A have recovered from their injuries and are back at Heights Alliance, but Izuku is not among them. After the end of the Paranormal Liberation War, Mashirao and the rest of Class 1-A receive a letter from Izuku explaining his origins as being Quirkless and how he left U.A. High because he has the "One For All" Quirk which makes him a target for All For One and cannot guarantee their safety. They are shocked and confused by Izuku's sudden departure from U.A.[70]

Dark Hero Arc#

A few days after Izuku left U.A., Mashirao joins a meeting with Class 1-A, deducing that Izuku is now working with Endeavor and his team. Kyoka says that All Might hasn't returned either and Mashirao adds that classes have been suspended and they haven't become second years yet, with the Hero course students on standby and helping as security, so acquiring any information in this environment will be tough.

A few days later, impatient with their response, Class 1-A pushed forward using Endeavor's U.A. Alumni status to confront him, eventually learning the truth. Once Principal Nezu gives Class 1-A permission to bring back Izuku to U.A., he dispatches with his classmates to search for him while at the same time, apprehending any prison escapees along the way.

After a month of trailing in Izuku's whereabouts, Class 1-A finally arrived on the scene to defeat the villain Dictator. When Izuku refuses to yield, he demands everyone to get out of his way, which means they will have to face him in order to take him back to the U.A.[71] But fighting his classmates is the last thing Izuku wants, so he tries to escape, but they intercept him every time.

During the fight, Mashirao catches Izuku with his tail using Tornado Tail Dance. He tells Izuku that he can't overlook his situation, especially when he got angry on his behalf at Hitoshi for insulting him during their match at the Sports Festival. Izuku replies that his presence endangers everyone and fears All For One will kill them to break him, which is why he has to stay away from them. He starts to break out of his grip when Fumikage appears and uses Dark Shadow to knock him into a building.[72]

After Tenya catches up to Izuku, Mashirao and the rest of Class 1-A reach them where they listen to Katsuki apologizing to Izuku before he collapses from exhaustion. Once Izuku is secured, Mashirao helps escort him safely back to a heavily fortified U.A. High where they are confronted by protesting civilians.[73] They are aware that Tomura is after Izuku and fear them being in danger, leading Ochaco to give a pleading speech toward the crowd on why he needs their help and deserves to stay and rest, with the civilians eventually agreeing.[74]

Izuku is escorted inside, where he and the other boys of the class quickly strip him of his dirty clothes, washing him vigorously and then dumping him in the bathtub before joining in. After finishing the bath, Izuku finally passes out from exhaustion, and Mashirao joins the rest of the class in declaring they'll do whatever they can to bring back the world and make it better.[75]

Star and Stripe Arc#

Two days later, Class 1-A learn that during this time, Tomura had fought American No. 1 Hero, Star and Stripe, and while she was killed during the battle with Tomura successfully stealing her Quirk, New Order, thanks to her actions, the Quirk acted like a virus within his body, destroying several of his Quirks and delaying his procedure by about a week.

All Might informs all this to the class, telling them that this is now their perfect time to prepare for the inevitable all-out war. The class reveals over the past month they had been training with the Wild, Wild Pussycats in order to keep up with Izuku in the incoming conflict, and are now about to head out to continue their training..[76]

U.A. Traitor Arc#

While they wait for the final battle, the class continues to train each other in the outdoor courtyards. However, Toru and later Izuku secretly witness Yuga arguing with his parents, and are devastated to discover that Yuga is the traitor who isolated the class at the U.S.J. and revealed the location of their training camp. Yuga tries to fight them so his parents can escape, but Toru and Izuku defeat him and capture everyone.

Shortly after this, Mashirao alongside the rest of the class discover the news about the incident. Once the Aoyamas are restrained, he and the other class refuse to back down from the news despite Nezu's request, all in stunned and tears of Yuga's betrayal. Comforting a nervous Toru, Mashirao asks Yuga what he was planned to do if she hadn't exposed him. He listens to Yuga's desperation that drove him to despair and then Izuku pleading to let Yuga help them, leading the class to realize Yuga may be the only one able to deceive All For One.[77] [78]

Shota then appears on a tablet screen, taking full responsibility and reveals that he has an idea. He listened to Shota's plan after the Aoyama Family's ears have been covered. Naomasa then has the Aoyama Family escorted back to their HQ, telling everyone not to say a word to anyone else about the plan while he and the rest of the class look on sullenly.

Back at Heights Alliance, Mashirao takes a breather, before getting ready to gear back up, as he and everyone, with fire and rage in their eyes over the betrayal, prepares to bring All For One down once and for all.[79] He joins up with their "Search Squad" to head out to hunt down the villains.[80]

Later that night, he and his classmates return to Heights Alliance for a break, having come up with nothing in their search. All Might, Naomasa, and Nezu soon arrive to inform them all about their secret finalized plans for the upcoming Second War.[81] They call in Hitoshi Shinso, revealing their plan to get him to brainwash the Aoyamas so that they can communicate with All For One without him detecting any ill intent. The class cheers on Hitoshi for his growth, including their teacher after learning he trained him.[82]

The next day, Nezu announces to the civilians that Tomura will make his big move in 4 days, with Class 1-A moving outside of the U.A. barrier to began prioritizing their safety. They say their goodbyes to their relatives and friends before moving out of Heights Alliance and moves into its upgraded makeshift fortress called "Troy". During the following days, Mashirao and his classmates dedicated themselves to carrying out various missions and returning to Troy to rest.[81]

My Hero Academia: You're Next#

During Class 1-A's Quirk training in preparation to hunt down Tomura and his allies, While explaining how he is able to use multiple Quirks, Izuku showed one of his notebook where, for fun, he wrote his analyses of each of his classmates' Quirks and how they could interact in team-up scenarios.

Several of them ask him to let them see what he has written about them, but a nervous Izuku says it's not necessary, so Mashirao snatches the notebook from him and is impressed by its contents. The rest of Class-A swarm in to see Izuku's notebook, and Katsuki takes offense by what was written about him, and causes a ruckus. All Might walks up to the class and says it's time to move out, as the students take off in an armored van to track down the Villains.[83]

Throughout the month, Mashirao becomes a member of Team 3 of Class 1-A, consisting of Izuku, Ochaco, Kyoka, Toru, and Hanta, to apprehend all the Jailbreakers who escaped from Tartarus and other maximum-security prisons across the country. The team rendezvous with Teams 2 and 3 for a break from combat, taking the chance to motivate each other, relax, and complain about the Villains.

Suddenly, they're attacked by a group of rogue Villains, intent on stealing one of the Heroes' armored trucks. It's turn out U.A. students were expecting the seank attack, and strikes back, defeating the villains and handing them over to the police. All Might informs the students of new Villain sightings, and they split into three groups, following up on the reports.[84]

Sometime later, while his team are hunting for villains and escapee, they receive word that a trio of Jailbreakers attacked a nearby refugee camp in the northwest sector. They ransacked every supply they could get their hands on and hijack a truck to flle with their loot. Izuku led his team to intercept the hijacking. Thanks to his Quirks, Izuku decides to go ahead of the rest of the team to intercept them..

Izuku attacks the Villains and easily stops their hijacking while the other members of Team 3 arrive to help capture them. One of the villains, who has a bouncing quirk, tries to escape, but is stopped by Mashirao, who defeats him with a Torando Tail Dance, allowing Hanta to easily capture him with his tape

Once the villains are handed over to the police, Team 3 contacts Team 1 and 2 of 1-A, who've also apprehended more villains and escapees. Hawks, via the Counter-Force, gives the teams their next assignment: apprehend a Tartarus escapee, Ginji Kurau, who has been spotted nearby, so the three teams head there.

At the Port of Niigata, Ginji runs away with a woman in his hand. Team 3 arrives on the scene to arrest Ginji and save Anna Scervino, but the villain escapes using his Quirk, Mad Gluttony, to rip through several buildings before they can corner him. Mashirao realizes there's a shelter in the direction the villain has taken, so Izuku decides to go ahead. He ends up confronting Ginji at the civilian refugee camp. Izuku tries to restrain Ginji with his Blackwhip, but then suddenly, Ginji becomes more powerful after holding the woman again, allowing him to overwhelm him nearly.

Before Ginji could counter-attack, a man with an eyepatch and cybernetic prosthetics named Giulio Gandini appears and shot at Ginji from a long distance, causing him to let go of the woman. He rides his motorcycle and then loads his prosthetic robot arm to take another shot at Anna, which Izuku is too slow to stop, before Bruno Gollini uses his Delay Spot Quirk to stop the bullet in a time-slowing bubble Ginji. He collects Anna, just before the rest of Team 3 arrives to assist Izuku.

However, they suddenly find themselves confronted with a floating ship carrying the Gollini Family Mafia, consisting of Bruno, Kamile, Deborah, Paulo, Simon, Ugo, Gi, and their leader, Valdo Gollini. He undoes his mask, revealing that he has the appearance of prime All Might, shocking everyone. Anna tries to resist upon being taken onto the ship, but Deborah uses her Quirk, Day Dream, to subdue her.

The members of team 3 wonder what's going on until they realize Ginji has taken advantage of the chaos to run away, causing collateral damage to many buildings, endangering many civilians. Mashirao and the Team break off from engaging Ginji to rescue the civilians who were about to be crushed by debris. He uses his powerful tail to destroy the debris falling from the damaged building, preventing anyone from being hit by it.

While the U.A. students are busy saving people, Valdo gets in Ginji's way and brutally defeats him with a powerful Smash similar to All Might’s powers when he had One For All. The shockwave from the attack is so powerful that it knocks people off their feet and causes structural damage in the surrounding area. Izuku is in shock seeing how the All Might impersonator's reckless attack endangered everyone else around.

Valdo then uses his Quirk to turn several of his coins into cameras and hack every communication network still functioning in the country, with everyone being shocked by his appearance. He announces to the country that he has come to "save Japan" from their despair caused by the war and vows that he will use his strength and power to promote justice and become the next Symbol of Peace in honor of All Might’s god-like powers.

Izuku calls him out with disgust over using violence and putting innocent civilians in danger, taiting All Might's legacy. Hearing his words, Valdo decides to prove Izuku wrong by using his powers. He touches the hypnotized Anna Scervino, and suddenly, his powers tremendously increase as their floating ship transforms into a massive fortress, consuming everything in its path in an ocean of light.

Team 3 tries to flee with as many civilians as they can carry but are helpless after the transformation catches up to them and is consumed as well. Teams 1 and 2, who had just arrived in the area, witnessed the rapid expansion of the transformation. They trys to flee but they, too, are soon caught by the transforming light.

Mashirao and his teammates regain consciousness in a jungle-like environment, but they soon realize that the trees and plants are artificial. Aside from them, there isn't a single one of their classmates or any other civilians present. Perched in a tree, Mashirao tries to get a signal with his mobile phone, but he soon discovers that they are cut off. Kyoka also reports that she hasn't been able to detect anyone with her Quirk. Given the situation, Izuku suggests they should do is confirm the status of the people who were absorbed before escaping from the place, and everyone agrees.

The team tries to leave the forest area, only to come to a dead end. Toru discovers a manhole, so Izuku uses Float, and Ochaco uses her Quirk to lower themselves to investigate. Suddenly, Izuku's Quirk stops working, forcing him to hold on and tell Ochaco to return and inform the others. As soon as she leaves, he loses his grip and falls down the deep hole. On the surface, Ochaco explains to the others what is happening, so Hanta uses his tape so they can go down without needing to use their Quirks.

After a while, the five students lower themselves into the chute and end up a snowy mountainous area where Izuku is supposed to be, but they can't see him anywhere. Noting they can still use their Quirks, Mashirao interprets this as Izuku having had something to do with it. Suddenly, a hole opens beneath the ground, and the team falls into another chute, leading them to a city center inside the fortress. They come out to see Deborah and Anna with the civilians under Deborah’s control. Before they can attack, but the villainess uses her Quirk on them, sending them into their dreams.

In his dreams, Mashirao dreamt of himself trying on large sunglasses and fancy leather clothing. While under Deborah’s Quirk, Mashirao touches Anna, but her Overmodification reveals that he is incompatible with her Quirk and convulses in a painful seizure before losing consciousness. Izuku and Giulio, who had just arrived at the place, hear his cry of pain and, when they rush to his aid, they encounter Deborah, who puts them both to sleep with her daydream.

Fortunately, they manage to break free from of Deborah's QuirkMashiro, injuring her in the process, waking up the students and the kidnapped citizens. Anna is also freed, but Giulio is about to shoot her, something she seems to accept. However, Izuku intervenes and prevents Giulio from killing Anna. Then Kamile appears and uses his Spatial Excursion quirk to rescue Deborah and take Anna, without the others being able to prevent it.

As students and citizens recover, Giulio finally explains everything about Anna and the Gollini Family. A while ago, he was hired by Anna's father to help with her Overmodification Quirk, which allows her to greatly enhance the Quirk Factors of a few compatible people. However, her quirk became more uncontrollable with the passage of time. Only thanks to his Neutralization Quirk, he could temporarily neutralize her Quirk by touching her with his right arm.

Despite this, Anna's Quirk was becoming more and more powerful and there would come a time when not even his neutralization would be enough to contain it, so Anna made Giulio promise that he would kill her if her Quirk becomes unstable and hurts people. However, the Gollini Family learned of Anna's Quirk, and attacked the household, kidnapping Anna and killing everyone else. Giulio survived, but he had to have parts of his body replaced with robotic prosthetics, and no longer can use his Quirk. He tracked Anna to Japan to fulfill the promise he made to her before is to late.

Like his classmates, Mashirao voices his objection that killing Anna will end her suffering, and even if it does, they know that it is not what she and Giulio wanted. They understand that Giulio went through so much to get Anna back, and they will not let her Quirk grow out of control, vowing to save Anna from her Quirk and Giulio. They understand that Giulio went through so much to get Anna back, and they will not let her Quirk grow out of control, vowing to save Anna. Team 1 soon appears and also agrees to help Giulio and Anna and defeat Valdo, who now calls himself Dark Might.

After the students had managed to defeat several of his subordinates, Dark Might orders to change the course of the flying fortress and head directly to the U.A. Shelter. He then broadcasts to the students that he will become the Symbol of Peace when he destroys All Might and the last remnants of the Heroes still at the U.A. Class A organize to prevent this, and while Izuku, Katsuki, Shoto, Fumikage and Giulio head to face the villains, Mashirao and Class 1-A round up the civilians and prepare to evacuate the fortress.

While leading the civilians to safety, the students hear explosions coming from outside the flying fortress and assume it is the heroes trying to assault the Symbol of Paradise. Then they receive help from Mirio, who easily infiltrates the fortress with his Permeation and helps direct everyone towards the exit. Outside the town, thousands of monsters conjured by the fortress appear to stop them. Class 1-A volunteers to cover the civilians and fight the monsters while Mirio and some of the classmates escort the civilians to safety.

The class pushes back against monsters, with Mashirao swatting the monsters with his Quirk. However, Class 1-A is starting to lose the battle of attrition against the fortress monsters as every time they destroy them, more monsters keep generating, and on the verge of their defeat, the Heroes from outside manage to get inside the fortress and back them up. While fighting off the monsters, Izuku, Katsuki, Shoto, and Giulio defeat Dark Might, causing the fortress to stop conjuring the monsters, and Mirio defeats Kamille, halting the fortress as it starts falling from the sky.

Although the danger seems to be over, Anna loses control of her Quirk, and Valdo regains consciousness and uses her enhanced properties to turn himself into a colossal monster. Giulio manages to touch Anna, and his own Neutralization Quirk becomes greatly enhanced, allowing him to use it on Anna finally. With Dark Might vulnerable, Izuku, Shoto, and Katsuki defeat him definitively.

With the Gollini Family defeated, the U.A. Shelter is safe, and everyone cheers on the Heroes and Class 1-A for their valiant victory. Mashirao and the rest of the class watch as Anna decides to stay with Giulio, now that her Quirk is finally nullified for good.[85]

Final War Arc#

With the number of Heroes rapidly dwindling, those that remain and the Counter-Force plan for an all-out Final War to defeat All For One and his army of villains. The plan is to utilize Neito Monoma's Copy Quirk to copy Kurogiri's Warp Gate, which will not only allow the Heroes to catch the Villains off guard, but also allow them to separate the Villains all over Japan. They also plan to use Yuga as bait and lure All For One out in an open spot where they want them.

On the day of the operation, Mashirao remains with Class 1-A until Izuku made contact with Yuga, successfully luring All For One and the army of villains, before the Heroes are summoned to the battlefield thanks to Neito and Warp Gate. All Might promptly activates the "Troy" defense system, encasing the villains into cages long enough for the Heroes to push them all into separate Warp Gates, splitting them up all over Japan.[86]

Mashirao, alongside Rikido and Hanta, are sent to the Takoba National Stadium to battle the Villains. They eventually receive word of Shoto defeating Dabi, with Mashirao and Rikido talking about how they need to congratulate Shoto properly once the battle is over.[87]

Initially, they had the upper hand after defeating the other villains present at the stadium,[88] but they struggle against a Tartarus escapee known for wide-range devastation and battles of attrition, Gashly Eijiju. His duplications are outnumbering Mashirao and the Heroes, until eventually a Warp Gate courtesy of Shota and "Kurogiri" appears above the battlefield, as reinforcements arrive to swiftly take down the villain and conclude the battle.[89]

Shota regroups with his three students at the stadium, and proceeds to warp them to Mt. Fuji to provide reinforcements for Izuku in his fight against Tomura. As a result of the battle, All For One retakes control over Tomura's body, and Izuku completely loses both of his arms. Before "All For One" can attack Izuku, Hanta appears from behind, using his Tape to hold him back. Hanta declares they're here to save him, when Mashirao and Rikido also arrive, smashing the villain back with a Tornado Tail Dance and Sugar Knuckle combo attack. Shota also emerges from the Warp Gate, apologizing for the delay.[90]

Shota declares it is time to start Phase 3 of the divide and conquer operation, as many Warp Gates begin to appear around the battlefield. "All For One" asks him if they've come to have their Quirks stolen before the remaining Heroes, including several 1-A students, arrive to back Izuku up.[89] Some of his 1A classmates have also been teleported to the battlefield so they can help Izuku defeat "All For One". With all the Heroes assembled, they declare "We are here!"[91]

As Izuku runs toward "All For One", the villain unleashed hordes of Quirk attack all over the battlefield, blasting away every Hero who gets in his way, but they all keep countering against his attacks. Shota then calls out to the Heroes through their comms, telling them to help Izuku carve a straight path to Tomura. "All For One" sends a wave of Rivet Stabs and Black Lightning at him, but Mashirao and several U.A. Hero Course students jump in the way to take the hits and block the attacks.

Mashirao tells him he's already on his last legs and to save his strength, and Rikido adds that only his strength will be able to deal with him, so to let them tank the hits. Soon, more Heroes continue to cover Izuku long enough for him to come into direct contact with the villain and bashes him with a Smash right through his chest.[92]

Eventually, thanks to the efforts of everyone, Izuku manages to defeat "All For One" once and for all, just before Tomura's body succumbs to his injuries and disintegrates into ashes.[93]

One week after the end of the Final War, the restoration efforts that were stalled after the Jaku Hospital Raid have picked back up at a breakneck pace, as Heroes from around the world arrived to provide support and resources in rescue and rebuilding Japan. Once he has recovered sufficiently from his injuries, Mashirao returns to the partially rebuilt U.A.[94]

Epilogue Arc#

Later, in June, Mashirao attends the U.A. High Graduation along with the rest of his classmates. He watches the Third years receive their diplomas from Principal Nezu, including Tamaki, Nejire, and Mirio. Mirio also gives a motivational farewell speech, speaking about the need for a bright future where people can smile.

After graduation, Class 1-A becomes 2-A and moves to a temporary classroom, where Shota informs them that he will remain their homeroom teacher for another year, much to the class's delight. Yuga then enters to say goodbye, having decided to leave U.A. to atone for his crimes, vowing to become a true hero from scratch. To keep everyone else from crying, he shoots his Navel Laser everywhere.

Yuga then reveals that Hitoshi will be taking his place as Class A's newest member. Mashirao and several of his classmates are happy about it. Feeling left out by everyone's excitement over Hitoshi, Yuga shoots his lasers again, asking his former classmates to start planning his farewell party.

After things calmed down, their senior Mawata Fuwa announces that during the next weeks, the second and third-year students will participate in reconstruction and patrol tasks throughout the country under her supervision. The students are surprised when she casually addresses Shota as "Era-sen", and Mawata explains she used to be in his class, and he once expelled everyone to give them a taste of "death," which made them understand why they wanted to become Heroes.

The next day, after the new first-years mobbed Katsuki and Shoto in an excess of admiration and had to be scolded by Tenya, Class 2-A join up with some Heroes in a city on reconstruction duty, assisting Fat Gum, Suneater, and Best Jeanist in demolishing and repairing a section of buildings. As reconstruction treks on, local civilians provide food for the students to eat for lunch, as a thank you for their help and hard work.

At that moment another bus arrives, bringing the first-year students. Their homeroom teacher, Cementoss, explains they insisted on helping with the reconstruction efforts in order to be of use and to make up for their earlier misgivings. They are given minor tasks to assist while class 2-A rest.

Later that night, because they eased up on dormitory requirements, students who wanted to go back home could, Ochaco decides to go home for a bit. Tsuyu had noticed that Ochaco was suffering despite trying to pretend everything was fine, and she tried to contact her, but Ochaco wasn't responding to her text messages. Concerned, Tsuyu decides to tell the rest of the class about what's happening, and immediately everyone goes out to look for her.[95]

Mashirao and the rest of Class A head over to the hillside of former Troy to check on her, only to see that Izuku had come before the class and Ochaco seems to be doing well. While they comfort her, Katsuki asks Izuku about the embers of One For All he just used up. The class freaks out upon learning that Izuku only has embers remaining of One For All, and swarms over him to get the details and scolding him for leaving them in the dark, which the boy quickly agrees to fill them in on.

Later, Class 2-A celebrate their goodbye party for Yuga, with Eri singing for the first time in front of the entire class while Kyoka plays the guitar.[96]

As time passes, Class A becomes Third Year and focuses on their reconstruction efforts while doing Hero work. Finally, it was time for Class A's graduation ceremony, and all Third Year Students from Class A, B, and Support Course are prepared to have their diplomas ready. After receiving his from Principal Nezu, Mashirao listens to Tenya's farewell speech about their hard work, which ends with a bang with a huge explosion caused by Katsuki and Monoma.[97]

In the eight years following her graduation, Mashirao becomes the fully-fledged hero Tailman. Besides his hero job, he also has plans on eventually opening his own dojo someday, so he asks his former classmates Rikido for advice, who is more than willing to advise him and doesn't hesitate to pay him visits.[1][98]

In other matters, Izuku is now a teacher at U.A., and due to his loss of One For All, Mashirao and his former classmates funded the creation of a mechanical armor similar to Armored All Might for him. They have to pool a lot of funding from their Hero Work to help making the suit with the aid of Melissa and Mei.

Once the suit was done, All Might delivers the surprise gift for Izuku, who tears up and smiles to be able to be a hero again. When Hawks mentions traffic being backed up because of a landslide on WarStar Road and requesting Heroes who can respond, Izuku puts on his new "Armored Deku" suit and is joined by the rest of his former classmates. As they head to the landside, Mashirao joins the rest of his fellow Heroes of Class A.[97]

At a restaurant, the former students of Class A celebrate Shoto's new Number 2 Hero ranking on the Hero Billboard Chart JP. The classmates discuss amongst themselves the differing nature of the hero rankings nowadays, and joking around about each other's placements and their current statues as Heroes and Sidekicks. Mashirao mentions his surprise everyone has been able to get together once again, which Mashirao states is due to the decreasing number of Villains every year. Fumikage remarks on the Heroes both old and new that have continued fighting all this time, thinking that eventually Heroes are headed towards extinction. Suddenly, everyone receives a notification of a criminal's Quirk causing a lot of damage, as the former classmates blast off together.

The incident is quickly resolved, as the criminal is arrested, noting that it was just a "sudden impulse". The group decide to split up for the night, with all of them going their separate ways.[98]
