Gigantomachia

ArticleSynopsisRelationshipsSource revision

Gigantomachia was a Villain associated with the League of Villains.[3] He was one of All For One's faithful servants and his former bodyguard, later serving his successor, Tomura Shigaraki.

When the League of Villains merged with the Meta Liberation Army to become the Paranormal Liberation Front, he became part of the organization. He was arrested after his defeat during the Paranormal Liberation War. He later broke out of his imprisonment and sided with the Heroes during the Final War.

Appearance#

Gigantomachia was an enormous giant, about the height of a large tree or at least 3 building levels or floors with a musclebound build. His brown hair was spiky and parts of his body appear to be jagged, much like rock. His teeth are prominently pointed, his lower canines protruding out of his mouth on either side.

Notably, he always carries a portable radio wherever he goes, sometimes even tying it to a rope and wearing it around his neck. Initially, he was nude (at least in the manga), but eventually wears bright-black pants. He also sports a hooded cloak that he wears while in public.

Sometime after the Revival Celebration, he has taken to wearing a new set of armor.[4]

When going Mole mode, his lower jaw was actually a visor that shields his eyes from dirt, his canines become much longer, he sports mole-like claws on his fingers, his jagged back grow spines to help him go underneath the ground.

During the Final War, his right claw was severely burned by Mina Ashido's Acidman - Alma.[5] When he battled All For One with the Heroes on his side, he became much bigger than 25 meters.

Personality#

Gigantomachia appears to be a polite person at first, but will quickly become impatient and aggressive towards those that are uncooperative with him. If someone manages to help him out though, he will simply leave and avoid a confrontation.[6]

He was also a faithful servant to All For One and questions Tomura's worthiness as his successor. His devotion and obedience to All For One are so great that simply hearing a recording of All For One's voice could calm him from breaking out into a blind rage.[7]

Kyudai Garaki describes Gigantomachia as a walking calamity who lives and dies for the sake of his master, with the giant himself repeatedly stating that everything he does was for him. Once awoken and commanded, he will plow through and destroy anything and anyone in his path with no regard for anything but his sole objective. As mentioned beforehand, he holds no respect for anyone he deems as weak, as he initially viewed Tomura as someone who could not stand up to All For One's strength in his eyes. However, once he saw Tomura unlocking his true power and emerge victorious over Re-Destro, he truly acknowledged him as a worthy leader, even shedding a tear of joy at him standing proud over his defeated foe.[8]

This deep respect and loyalty towards his master, however, does not impede him from feeling negative emotions towards his decisions. Gigantomachia was greatly saddened when All For One left him alone to go into hiding, and felt betrayed when he, in Tomura's body, abandoned him during the Paranormal Liberation War. As a result, he chose to take out all his anger on his master once he was freed, inadvertently helping the Heroes fight him.[9]

Abilities#

Overall Abilities: Gigantomachia was an incredibly powerful giant, serving as All For One's personal bodyguard for years even before being modified with multiple Quirks. During a brief encounter with Gran Torino and several police officers, the behemoth forced the veteran hero to retreat while leaving a massive cavity in the side of a mountain. Come winter, Gigantomachia was able to take on the combined forces of the League of Villains' six remaining members (Tomura, Dabi, Himiko Toga, Spinner, Twice and Mr. Compress) with ease and defeat them repeatedly. Even after battling him nonstop for a month, half of the League made little progress towards defeating Gigantomachia.[10]

In Tomura's own terms, Gigantomachia possesses "too much HP" which the behemoth villain abuses to exhaust his opponents into submission. Gigantomachia's body was extremely resilient, being able to manage the incredible strain of holding multiple Quirks even without having his body modified, being one of the few people in the world capable of this. By the time he was unleashed by Tomura during the assault on the Villa, Gigantomachia was even able to take on many Pro Heroes single-handedly; he was able to overpower them and even managed to kill a few Heroes including Majestic, a hero close in ranking to the top ten Pro Heroes.

Gigantomachia possessed few known weaknesses, the most notable being that he could hardly think for himself and he requires orders from his master in order to carry out a task. The only known task that he could accomplish without being ordered was to come to his master's aid.[11] Another noteworthy flaw was that he could be easily controlled through his master's voice, be it through a recording or a precise imitation, which an enemy could use to their advantage.[5]

Even in spite of his tremendous might, Gigantomachia was not invulnerable. While he was able to help the Heroes temporarily overwhelm All For One, the villain, now fully restored and rewound to a younger version of himself thanks to the Rewind Drug, managed to decimate the behemoth with Impure Beam, destroying half of his upper body and taking him down.[12]

  • Immense Strength: Befitting his massive size and build, Gigantomachia has immense brute strength, the beast was strong enough to easily crack a side of a concrete building with his grip alone.[6] During his confrontation with Gran Torino, Gigantomachia proved to be able to blow an enormous hole in a mountainside with a single hand, causing the hero to deem him "a walking disaster". With a simple hammer-fist punch, he could strike the ground hard enough to pulverize the landscape around him and destroy nearby buildings.[7] Using his tremendous brawn, Gigantomachia could pick up the equally gigantic Mt. Lady and toss her out of his way.[2] His monstrous strength was also powerful enough to overpower several heroes and students, with enhancement by his given Mole Quirk. He was also shown to lift and throw a chunk of a mountain.
  • Immense Speed: Despite his gargantuan bulk, Gigantomachia exhibits incredible running speed, powerful enough to rip the trees out of the ground as he runs past them.[13] He could run at least up to 100 kilometers (62.137 miles) per hour.[14]
  • Immense Durability: Befitting his muscular physique, Gigantomachia's body and skin are extraordinarily thick, taking virtually no damage from physical attacks. While he was unscathed from the League of Villains' consecutive onslaughts, Gigantomachia displayed minor annoyance at being bathed in Dabi's fire.[7] Gigantomachia could fight his way through a large quantity of the Meta Liberation Army unharmed in spite of being flanked from all sides.[15] He also withstood blows from cannons created by Momo.
  • Immense Stamina: Gigantomachia could imitate continuous assaults for a full 48 hours and 44 minutes without rest. He could even resume such onrushes after getting only three hours of sleep.[10] When his Endurance Quirk was activated, he seems practically inexhaustible. Even after being subjected to a powerful sedative by Class 1-A, he was able to remain at full power for quite some time. The sedative only started to take effect after he exhausted himself fighting his way through numerous Pro Heroes.[16]
  • Immense Endurance: Gigantomachia was shown to have incredible physical endurance, he was able to run past 20 cities without taking a break or tiring.
  • Enhanced Senses: Due to his Dog Quirk, Gigantomachia has highly developed senses of hearing and smell. His senses are potent to where he could not be caught by surprise, even whilst he slumbers.[10] Gigantomachia's olfactory perception was powerful enough to locate Tomura from miles away.[13]
  • Enhanced Breath: Due to Gigantomachia's increased size and strength, a single breath was strong enough to blow back several U.A. students and cause severe environmental damage.[17]

Indomitable Will: Despite how much he lacks in cognitive thinking and critical analysis, Gigantomachia has incredible willpower, strong enough to resist Hitoshi Shinso's Brainwashing Quirk that only temporarily brainwashed him to fight for the Heroes before he fights All For One in his own accord.[9]

Quirks#

According to Kyudai Garaki, Gigantomachia has been modified with six extra Quirks that go alongside his original Quirk that allow him to act as the perfect bodyguard.[17] The total number of Quirks he has are seven. These Quirks he carries include:

  • Endurance: Gigantomachia's original Quirk allows him to convert his morale into physical energy, giving him a significant increase in stamina and endurance.[17]
  • Pain Blocker: Gigantomachia's second Quirk makes him unable to detect any pain, granting him an immense pain tolerance.[17]
  • Gigantification: Gigantomachia's third Quirk allows him to grow to gigantic sizes the more he was agitated or excited, this Quirk also causes his body to grow in battle as he fights, allowing him to eventually reach massive heights to the point where he could fit an entire human within his hands and tower over buildings.[10] He could grow to be at least 25 meters in height.[2]
  • Dog: Gigantomachia's fourth Quirk provides him with heightened senses of smell and hearing, similar to those of a dog.[18][1]
  • Energy Saver: Gigantomachia's fifth Quirk allows his body to function on very small amounts of nutrition and hydration, allowing him to fully function on a minimal amount of sleep.[10][1]
  • Fierce Gains: Gigantomachia's sixth Quirk allows his muscles to harden at exceptional levels.[19][1]
  • Mole: Gigantomachia's seventh Quirk allows him to grow mole-like claws from his fingers, spines on his back, and a visor, seemingly part of his lower jaw, shielding his face, to help him dig through the Earth, as well as tear through obstacles, such as buildings. All For One gave him this Quirk with the purpose to hide underground.[14][1]
