Quirk Apprehension Test Arc#

During the test, he commented that Mezo Shoji is really strong.[1] At the end of the test, he placed fifteenth in the Quirk Apprehension Test.[2]

Battle Trial Arc#

He is teamed with Eijiro Kirishima as "Team J" after being randomly drawn.[3] He goes against Tsuyu Asui and Fumikage Tokoyami. He surrounds the trial missile with tape as a counter against the team.[4]

U.S.J. Arc#

He raised his hand when Shota Aizawa decided who will become the class president. When he commented on a complaining Katsuki Bakugo's vote, he and Katsuki got into a quarrel.[5] Later in U.S.J., he sticks tape onto Kurogiri after Ochaco Uraraka threw Kurogiri out. This act allowed Tenya Ida to slip out and go get reinforcements from the Pro Heroes.[6] Hanta and his classmates tend to Thirteen after the latter is injured by Kurogiri. Hanta then witnessed All Might's arrival and his fight with Nomu before the other heroes came and the villains were detained.[7]

U.A. Sports Festival Arc#

In the Obstacle Race, Hanta avoids Shoto Todoroki's ice with his Quirk and stays in the race.[8] He and Fumikage use their Quirks to climb over the humongous Villain Bots to get to the next area by following Katsuki's advance.[9] Hanta manages to place 8th in the Obstacle Race,[10] allowing him to participate in the next event, the Human Cavalry Battle. He teams up with Katsuki along with Eijiro and Mina Ashido.

After the Human Cavalry Battle begins, Katsuki jumps into the air and tries to attack Izuku Midoriya with an Explosion, but Fumikage uses his Dark Shadow to block it. Hanta uses his Quirk to catch Katsuki so that he can land safely back on his team's formation, which Eijiro praises Hanta for. After Neito Monoma takes his headband without trouble and mocks him for always being attacked by villains every year, Katsuki, infuriated, states that they will beat them first before going after Izuku.[11]

Hanta and his team continue to battle Neito, who manages to rebuke their efforts.[12] However, Katsuki eventually manages to grab two of Neito's headbands and Hanta uses his tape to grab Katsuki to reel him back onto the formation, with Hanta complaining that Katsuki did not warn them when he is about to jump off. However, Katsuki still wants more points and orders his team to attack; having Hanta use his Quirk and has Mina use her dissolving fluid.

Hanta and his team ride on Mina's fluid to reach Neito's team faster thanks to Hanta reeling in his tape. Katsuki attacks Neito for the final time and grabs his last headband, which places their team at second place. Katsuki, however, wants to collect the ten million point headband and Hanta goes with his team to where Izuku's team and Shoto's team are.

Hanta and his team reach their destination, but the Human Cavalry Battle ends before they could do anything. However, Katsuki's last minute actions allowed Hanta and his team to reach second place, allowing them to participate in the final event.[13] The final event is a tournament event and Hanta's opponent in the first round is Shoto. He is seen partaking in one of the recreational events.[14]

Hanta steps into the ring to face his opponent which is Shoto. After the match begins, Hanta confesses that he doesn't know if he has a chance but states that he won't simply roll over. Hanta makes the first move, wrapping his tape around Shoto, attempting to throw Shoto out of the ring.

However, Shoto retaliates by using Giant Ice Ridge, creating a huge ice glacier that freezes the majority of Hanta's body and causes Hanta's tape to crack into pieces, which frees Shoto. Midnight asks Hanta whether he can move or not, to which Hanta replies in agony that he can't move. As a result, because he is unable to move and unable to do anything, Hanta is declared defeated and is eliminated as a result. The audience tells Hanta to not mind his loss. Shoto goes to Hanta, apologizing to him for overdoing it and then melts the ice off of him with his fire power.[15]

Hanta, sitting next to Denki Kaminari, watches the match between Ochaco and Katsuki and notes that Katsuki is keeping a sharp eye against his opponent before making any moves.[16] After the match between Fumikage and Katsuki is over, Hanta states he thought that Fumikage would win.[17] Hanta along with his class watches the closing ceremony of U.A.'s Sports Festival.[18]

Vs. Hero Killer Arc#

Two days after the Sports Festival, Hanta is in class. During the Hero Informatics period, Shota shows the Pro Hero nominations which reveals that Hanta received fourteen Pro Hero nominations. Eijiro comments that the top two nominations are in reverse and Hanta replies that it is because the Pro Heroes seeing Katsuki in a straitjacket must have scared them off. Afterwards, Class 1-A has to decide on hero names. Hanta writes down and shows his classmates his Hero name. Hanta's Hero name is revealed to be The Taping Hero: Cellophane.[19]

After Class 1-A is finished formulating their Hero names, Hanta is given his personalized workplace list in order to choose a workplace that he wants to train at. On the day of the workplace training, Hanta is at the train station with his class so that he can travel to the workplace of his choice by train.[20]

The workplace training comes to an end and Hanta returns to U.A. Hanta and Eijiro laugh at Katsuki's hairstyle, causing him to retaliate in anger. During Foundational Hero Studies, Hanta along with Izuku, Tenya, Mashirao and Mina, participates in a rescue race.

The race begins and Hanta easily takes the lead, being able to easily maneuver through the construction site thanks to his Quirk. However, Izuku suddenly takes the lead, greatly surprising Hanta as he sees the latter's better control of his Quirk and new skills though Izuku stumbles along the way, causing Hanta to take back the lead and win the race. All Might commends the group for improving their Quirks broadly since entering U.A. and asks them to prepare for the end-of-term test.[21]

Final Exams Arc#

One week before the end of term test, Hanta asks Momo Yaoyorozu to help him study. Throughout the final week before the end of term test, Hanta studies under Momo's tutoring along with Denki, Mina, Mashirao Ojiro and Kyoka Jiro. They go to her house and are impressed by the size and luxury of Momo's home, to the point that Hanta comments that he feels out of place among all the splendor.

On the day of the exercise test, Mr. Principal reveals that Class 1-A will be fighting against U.A.'s teachers for their exercise test.[22] Hanta is paired with Minoru Mineta and they must face Midnight in their test exercise.

Minoru, Hanta and Midnight arrive in an uninhabited city where Class 1-A's test exercise will take place. In the city, Midnight explains the 30-minute test; Minoru and Hanta must either handcuff her or one of them must escape the battlefield within 30 minutes in order to win and pass the test. The test begins.[23]

Hanta falls asleep due to Midnight's Quirk and Minoru desperately tries to wake him up.[24] Hanta is sleeping on Midnight's lap while she waits for Minoru, much to Minoru's jealousy. Eventually, Midnight goes to chase after Minoru, leaving Hanta sleeping nearby the escape gate. Minoru uses Hanta's tape around his mouth along with his own Quirk as his plan to stick Midnight in place which works, allowing him to rush past her and avoid her sleeping gas. Minoru goes to the escape gate and drags Hanta, along with himself out of the escape gate, allowing them to pass the practical test.[25]

Back in class at U.A., Denki, Mina, Eijiro, and Rikido are crestfallen that they are unable to go to the forest lodge due to failing the practical test. Izuku tries to cheer then up, but Hanta tries to warn Izuku not to jinx those who have failed. Soon, Shota Aizawa enters the classroom and informs Class 1-A that all of them are going to the forest lodge which will be a boot camp; the students who failed are happy and relieved.

However, Shota reveals that Hanta also failed the practical test due to being asleep the entire time and as a result, Hanta will be receiving harsher training at the boot camp. Hanta finds being asleep during the test to be more embarrassing than failing. Hanta, along with his class go to Kiyashi Ward Shopping Mall to buy necessities for the forest lodge.[26]

My Hero Academia: Two Heroes#

At some point, Hanta arrives to I-Island along with Rikido Sato. On the night of the I-Island preview, Hanta and Rikido go to eat at Meke's Dinner when a curfew announcement is made, without knowing that the I-Island system was hijacked. They walk back to their hotel room. Once Melissa reboots the system to normal mode, Hanta is happy the phone service is back up.

Hanta hangs out with the rest of his class after the I-Island Expo opens up.[27]

Forest Training Camp Arc#

Due to a shopping center incident, where Izuku had an encounter with Tomura, Shota informs Class 1-A that the destination for their lodge trip has been changed and the new destination will only be announced on the day of the event. The first semester has come to a close and summer break has begun.

Following the end of the semester, Hanta, along the rest of Class 1-A boys, is invited by Deku to participate in an endurance training session at the pool, an idea of Minoru and Denki. When Katsuki arrives and challenges Izuku, the boys opt to compete against each other by sprinting down the pool. When it is Hanta‘s turn, he tries to reach the other end of the pool using his Quirk without touching the water at all. Yuga Aoyama uses his Navel Laser to win the race, but in the middle of the flight, his Quirk begins to hurt him in the stomach, causing him to deviate and ends up crashing with Hanta, falling both to the swimming pool. Shoto wins the race.

Eventually, the field is shortened to Izuku, Katsuki and Shoto, but before they can start, Shota arrives and cuts their Quirks off due to their time limit for the pool expiring, kicking all the students out of the pool area.[28]

On the day of the summer camp, they are informed that the new destination will be a mountainous region, owned by the professional Hero Team, the Wild, Wild Pussycats, where they will undergo reinforcement training to strengthen and upgrade their Quirks, also allowing Class 1-A to obtain their temporary licenses. Class 1-A's bus stops for a restroom break, where they meet Pixie-Bob and Mandalay, who challenge the students to reach base camp past the forest in three hours. Then, all Class 1-A is forcibly thrown into The Beast's Forest by Pixie-Bob's Quirk.

To reach their destination, they must traverse the forest, which is inhabited by dozens of hostile earth monsters created by Pixie-Bob. The Students work together to fight their way through the forest.[29] Hanta uses his Tape on the wings of a flying monster and slams it on the ground.[30]

The journey through the forest to the Cabin takes them around eight hours before finally arrive at the facility, battered and tired. Class 1-A fetch their luggage from the bus and put it in their rooms. Later they go to the dining hall and the Pussycats serve them dinner.[31]

The next morning, Class 1-A are outside the training camp cabin. Shota greets his students and tells them that they will undergo reinforcement training to strengthen and upgrade their Quirks. To increase his capacity and improve tape strength and shooting speed, Hanta‘s training consists of having him producing tape continuously. Afterward, Classes 1-A and 1-B are tasked with cooking for themselves. While preparing, Hanta tells Katsuki to use an explosion to light up the oven. During dinner, Hanta makes an unfortunate comment about Momo's Quirk. Hanta realizes that her ability to create things from her body after eating is like pooping. She instantly curls up into a ball of shame and Kyoka punches Hanta in the face, ordering him to apologize and he promptly does so.[32]

After dinner, Hanta and the other students who failed their practical exams take extra lessons with Shota until two in the morning. Training starts back up at seven the next day. Hanta and the others are all super tired, but Shota forces them to train anyway.

At the third day of training, Hanta is happy because that night all the students will participate in a courage test. Shota, however, forces the extra lessons group to sit out for more teaching, much to their displeasure.[33] The Vanguard Action Squad of the League of Villains invade that night. Mandalay sends out a telepathic message warning the students of their arrival.[34] Shortly after Shota leaves, Mandalay sends out two more messages giving permission for students to fight back[35] and informing everyone that Katsuki is one of the villains' targets.[36]

The villains successfully kidnap Katsuki and the students return home from camp.

Hideout Raid Arc#

After the capture of Katsuki, the training camp ends and Hanta returns home. Two days later, he visits Izuku in the hospital along with many of his peers, where he hears Eijiro and Shoto's plan to rescue Katsuki, asking Izuku to join them.

Although he does not oppose the intentions of his classmates, Hanta does nothing to stop them.[37]

Provisional Hero License Exam Arc#

Following Katsuki's rescue and the retirement of All Might, Nezu transformed U.A. into a boarding school in only three days, in order to protect the students. Shota meets with his students outside of the building. He states they must start preparing to get provisional hero licenses like they had planned to during the training camp.

Before allowing Class 1-A students to enter in their new residence, Shota scold the entire class for having allowed five of them to rescue Katsuki without a license and did nothing to stop them. He further more says he would have expelled everyone but Katsuki, Toru and Kyoka, if it weren't for All Might's sudden retirement and asked them to stick to the rules from now on.

Class 1-A arrange their luggage in their respective bedrooms. Later that night, the boys of Class 1-A are in the common space on the first floor. The girls of Class 1-A show up and suggest a room showcasing competition.[38] The class looks at each others room, until they check out Hanta's room, which consists of traditional Asian design. The girls compliment him on it and he takes it in stride.[39]

The following day, Hanta, along with the rest of 1-A, are told by Shota that their next goal is to obtain their Provisional Hero Licenses. To ensure success in the Provincial Hero License exam, they will develop their own ultimate moves, along with the guidance of Midnight, Ectoplasm, and Cementoss in Gym Gamma.[40].

Hanta continues to train with his classmates following up to the day of the Provisional Hero License Exam. Outside of the National Dagobah Arena, Class 1-A meets with students from Shiketsu High School and Ketsubutsu Academy High School. The exam participants all gather to hear the rules of the exam from Yokumiru Mera from the Hero Public Safety Commission. The students find out they will be tested on speed, with only the first 100 out of 1540 passing the first test being able to move on to the next. Each student has six balls, and three targets to attach to their body. Those whose targets have been hit are disqualified. Participants need to eliminate two students to move on to the next phase of the exam.[41]

The room in which the students are in unfolds to reveal the arena, in which there are varying environments to battle in. As the exam starts, the rest of the schools all attack U.A. at once, however, Class 1-A is able to defend themselves thanks to their ultimate moves. Hanta uses his tape to catch several of the rivals' balls. Yo Shindo tells his fellow classmates that he will shatter their solid defense, and uses his Vibrate Quirk on the ground, unleashing a powerful earthquake that shatters the ground and and causing members of class 1-A to disperse.[42]

Due to this attack, Hanta gets scattered, and has to defend himself from the attacks of the rest of the students while looks for his classmates. First he finds Ochaco, and later they notice Izuku fighting Camie Utsushimi (completely naked) and meet up on the way to help him. Hanta uses his tape to keep Camie away from Izuku while Ochaco arrives and tries to land on Camie but she dodges. Camie is disappointed that she can no longer talk with Izuku due to being outnumbered after Hanta and Ochaco's interference, so she retreats.

Hanta tries to go after her but Izuku advises against it because Camie's targets aren't showing up on her naked body, reasons there is no point in chasing after her. Then, Izuku awkwardly asks if Hanta and Ochaco are the real versions of themselves. He explains that Camie was able to transform into Ochaco and everyone gets embarrassed. Hanta excitedly asks if the fake Ochaco was naked and Izuku replies that she wasn't.[43]

They hide behind large rocks and discuss their strategy. Izuku tells them they need to move quickly because thirty people have already passed the exam. Izuku, Ochaco, and Hanta talk about their situation and how rival students are starting to split up. Izuku tells Ochaco and Hanta that he will act as a decoy while they keep a distance from him and try to immobilize as many examinees as possible. Izuku, Ochaco, and Hanta prepare to enact their plan.[44]

Izuku activates One For All: Full Cowl - Shoot Style and dashes past the group of examinees, being chased by them. Hanta catches up to him and asks him to carry them both into the air. When they reach a safe height above the ground, Ochaco releases debris attached to tape that traps their pursuers by sticking them to the ground. Izuku, Hanta, and Ochaco place their balls on six examinees and pass the first phase.[45]

While they head for the winner's waiting room, they are spotted by Denki, Eijiro and Katsuki. Ochaco, Hanta, Eijiro, and Denki celebrate passing together. Upon arriving at the waiting room, they find that Shoto, Momo, Tsuyu, Kyoka and Mezo had already passed the round. Momo is glad that all of them passed. In the end, all the class 1-A students manage to pass the exam.[46] While waiting for the organizers to prepare the second exam, which will consist in rescue victims of a large-scale terrorist attack, Hanta tells Denki and Minoru that Izuku got to fight Camie while she was naked. Both get jealous and started to antagonize Izuku.[47]

The second phase of the exam begins and Hanta sticks with the rest of his class. He watches all the other students act professionally and sees the gap between first and second-year experience. Momo finds a man trapped beneath debris and Ochaco tries to float it. Momo stops her because there is an imbalance in the debris. Momo creates metal pillars and Hanta Sero tapes them together, reinforcing the wall. Ochaco begins clearing out the rubble. The man finds Momo, Ochaco, Hanta, and Rikido Sato's rescue maneuvers not to be shabby.[48]

Hanta passes the exam with 84 points, so he receives his provisional license.[49]

Shie Hassaikai Arc#

The next day, Class 1-A attend the U.A. opening ceremony. On their way, they meet students from other classes, one of them being Hitoshi Shinso, asking for the bickering classes to move out of his way. As Hitoshi passes by, Hanta Sero comments on Hitoshi's improved physique since the U.A. Sports Festival.[50]

After the opening ceremony, at classes, Shota talks about Hero Work-Studies, hero activities done off campus. Three days later, Shota introduces to Class 1-A to the people who will teach them about Hero Work-Studies: Mirio Togata, Tamaki Amajiki and Nejire Hado, better known as The Big 3.[51] Despite they reputation as the best candidates for heroes of the U.A., they are actually all a bunch of easygoing eccentrics. Class 1-A get confused when Mirio Togata challenges them all to a fight.

At Gym Gamma, Mirio tells Class 1-A to attack him whenever and wherever they want.[52] Hanta, like the rest of his classmates, attacks him, but Mirio completely wipes out Class 1-A without breaking a sweat, thanks to his Quirk, Permeation. While Class 1-A recovers from their defeat, Mirio asks them if they think his Quirk is strong, and Hanta, with Toru and Mina, replies that his Quirk is too strong. Mirio explains how his Quirk works and advises class 1-A to participate in the Hero Work-Studies, as it will help them improve their career to be heroes, just as it helped him become one of the best students in the U.A.[53]

Remedial Course Arc#

Weeks later, after the police raid at the base of Shie Hassaikai, Izuku, Eijiro, Ochaco and Tsuyu return to their dormitories at the school, where Hanta, along the entirety of Class 1-A, is checking to make sure his classmates are doing okay after their mission.

Hanta slings his arm around Eijiro's neck while berating him about worrying them.[54]

U.A. School Festival Arc#

Days later, in the classroom, Shota Aizawa announces that U.A. High School will be having a School Festival and tells Class 1-A to pick out a program to perform at the festival. All the students give their idea about what they should do for the festival, but they do not reach an agreement. Later at Heights Alliance, the entire Class 1-A decides that their school festival program will be a live performance and dance with party space.[55]

Class A-1 students are divided into three groups, Band team, Dance team and Staging team, Hanta is part of the Staging team.[56] During the following weeks, the various teams practice their respective functions.

On the appointed day, everyone is preparing for the performance but Hanta get concerned at Izuku's absence. He had gone out to buy that morning and he has not returned yet. Fortunately, Izuku arrives in time for the Class 1-A performance, which ends up being a huge success. After the show, Hanta and several of his classmates decided to spend the rest of the day enjoying the festival's attractions. [57]

Pro Hero Arc#

As November comes to a close, the Wild Wild Pussycats pay a visit to Class 1-A to celebrate Ragdoll's reinstatement.[58]

Later, at the U.A. dorms, Hanta and his classmates watched a television report of a Nomu attack in the city and was horrified as it showed Endeavor being overwhelmed by High-End's attack.[59] After Endeavor defeats High-End stands up victorious, Shoto collapses to his knees, relieved his father is still alive. His classmates approach Shoto to console him.[60]

Joint Training Arc#

Shota Aizawa and Vlad King hold a Joint Training Battle between their classes during the early days of winter, with Hitoshi Shinso as a guest for this exercise, due being reviewed for consideration into the Hero Course. Vlad King and Shota begin the exercise immediately afterward. Each class chooses lots to split into five teams of four. As the teams are set, Hanta is placed with Katsuki, Kyoka, and Rikido, and they will face Class B's team of Yosetsu Awase, Setsuna Tokage, Kojiro Bondo, and Togaru Kamakiri at Round 4.[61]

Before the fourth round of the Joint Training Battle, Hanta and his team went over a strategy as Katsuki and his team discuss their strategy. He listened as Katsuki wanted to take the lead and charge ahead with the others serving as back up.[62] Katsuki gives each of them one of his grenades and tells them that he'll save them if they get in trouble and asks them to do the same for him.[63]

When the round start Katsuki rudely tells Hanta and Rikido to follow his lead and orders Kyoka listens for the other team while trailing them. Hanta spoke up against this, believing that they should lie in wait for an opportunity but Katsuki mocks him and argues that they need to act first and create their own opportunity. Hanta is annoyed by Katsuki's bossiness.

Class 1-A charges through Ground Gamma when they are ambushed by Class 1-B team. Setsuna's Quirk lets her spread out her separated limbs throughout the field and uses her tiny body parts to attack them. They barrage Katsuki with rapid-fire small hits and Hanta uses Barricade Tape to protect his team, so that the lizard parts cannot attack and proceeds to call Katsuki over.

Setsuna says that they are done for. Kojiro appears and uses Glue Squall to spray his adhesive all over Hanta's tape barricade. Hanta tries to lead the three of them away but Togaru uses his Quirk to slash a large pipe that crashes down toward the other team. Rikido tries to sacrifice himself to hold it up but Katsuki manages to fire a large enough explosion to save his team.[62]

Class 1-B decides to retreat after seeing that his plan has failed, but Katsuki is not willing to allow it and chase them. Yosetsu himself and bond Katsuki with his newly developed Super Move "High-Speed Construction: Weldcraft". Yosetsu runs away and hides within the pipes so Hanta can't get a clear shot off with his tape. Hanta realizes that Setsuna's eyes are making it easy for the other team to read their movements and decides to use his Quirk to search for one of her disembodied parts.

Rikido acts quickly and free Katsuki from his restraints. Katsuki flies at Yosetsu, but gets out of the way and lets his teammates take out the enemy. Hanta carries Kyoka to the fight and she attacks Yosetsu with Heartbeat Surround, stunning him. Then, Hanta wraps up Yosetsu. Class 1-A also quickly captures Kojiro and Togaru, leaving only Setsuna to capture.

Hanta notes that although Setsuna's Quirk allows her to split apart into 50 parts, she appears to have a time limit to how long she can regenerate herself some spare parts. He surmises that she likely has to return her other pieces when regenerating to avoid going over her limit. Hanta attaches Katsuki's grenade to one of her pieces. Setsuna notices the grenade and avoids the blast, but she plays right into Katsuki's hands, who defeats her.[63]

The fourth Round of the Joint Training Battle ends with Class 1-A scoring a perfect victory with 4-0. Shota Aizawa commends Team 1-A for being able to cooperate well enough to reduce battlefield damage and efficiently capture the opposing opponents without any hassle.[64]

With Team 5, led by Izuku, winning the fifth round, Class 1-A takes the victory in the Joint Training Battle, and Hanta celebrates with his classmates.[65] Despite the result, there are no hard feelings between the two classes, and Class 1-A and 1-B's party after the Joint Training.[66]

My Hero Academia: Heroes: Rising#

During fall, the Hero Public Safety Commission devises the Hero Work Recommendation Project, to help to train the new generation of Heroes due All Might retirement. Weeks go by, and shortly after winter begins, after the Hero Interview Training, Class 1-A is sent to Nabu Island, a remote place in southern Japan. The Pro Heroes who protected the island are about to retire, so the students will take care of the place, performing duties as real heroes acting like their own "Hero Office", until the arrival of new Pro Heroes.

Because Nabu Island is quite isolated from the rest of the country, and therefore far from any villain activity, there has been no notable incident since the last thirty years. For this reason, their work on the island basically involve mostly minor deeds. Hanta works alongside several of his classmates on the beach as lifesavers. He and Fumikage prohibit tourists from entering the rocky area as it is too dangerous. Hanta uses his Quirk to create a warning sign.

At night, after working all day, all Class 1-A students mention that despite they only did minor deeds, this kind of hero work is still hard, even though they're not fighting anyone. Then, the grateful island citizens bring a bunch of food for the kids as a token of appreciation for their help. After dinner, Hanta, Denki and other students invite Eijiro to join them at the onsen bath and says that Katsuki can't go because he has to patrol the grounds since he didn't do any hero work all day long. Katsuki complains, but the guys leave him be.

The next day, while Hanta and several class 1-A students wait in the office waiting for a request, a neighbor and Fumikage arrive to report that the island is being attacked by a group of villains. Tenya quickly organize the class to face this crisis. He splits the Class into groups in order to deal with the separate threats: Hanta, alongside Tenya, Shoto, Sato and Fumikage will fight the villain at the beach as Ochaco and Koda assist with the evacuation of the tourists and residents.

Once there, they fight Chimera, but despite outnumbering him, the villain is superior to the students. At one point Hanta uses his Tape as Shoto uses his ice to restrain Chimera, but the villain uses his enormous strength to break free. Chimera continues fighting the students until he sees a flare in the sky. This was a sign from his allies indicating that he must withdraw. Chimera obeys the order and leaves.

At night, the students retreat to a factory to heal their wounds and provide first aid to the inhabitants of the island. Hanta helps bring supplies for students to prepare meals for refugees. Mina asks him about the villain that Katsuki had defeated, and Hanta replies that he is locked up and chained inside the machine room, but he refuses to talk to any of them after they questioned the villain.

Later, Class 1-A have a meeting where they discover that the objective of the villain leader, Nine, is to steal the Cell Activation Quirk from a boy named Katsuma. With this information, they devise a plan to approach them in front and keep civilians safe. The plan is to lure the villains to the furthest corner of the island where ancient castle ruins are. The heroes will engage the villains using the terrain to their advantage and spit the villains apart, so each member has to face several students alone. After his previous fight against Nine, Izuku concludes that Nine cannot use his multiple Quirks for too long as he suffers from intense pain when he does. To deal with Nine, everyone will attacks him in waves to force Nine to use his Quirks all the time until he reaches his limit and cannot continue fighting.

The next morning, Nine and his crew arrive at the entrance to the island. They fall into Class 1-A's trap and are forced to split up by Yuga and Momo's Ultimate Moves; and as planned, the students take turns attacking Nine to force him to use his Quirks as much as possible, managing to disperse the villains. Following Izuku's plan, Hanta and Ochaco commence their assault on Nine by constantly throwing boulders at him. The villain uses his Laser Bullet Quirk to destroy the rocks and attack Ochaco and Hanta, forcing them to retreat.

They both go back to Minoru's position, where there is a trap they had set up for Nine: a large amount of rocks contained by wooden posts. Ochaco uses her Gravity Quirk to remove the posts, falling to the ground, exhausted, and having to be moved out the way by Hanta of the massive rock slide that she caused. Then Hanta helps Minoru, as he uses his Quirk to make the rocks stick together even harder to bury the villain. However, Nine is able to break free easily with his Quirks and the shock wave knocks down Ochaco, Hanta, and Minoru. The Villain prepares to shot a powerful attack on them when Izuku and Katsuki steps in and attacks him.

Deku and Katsuki continue to fight Nine, as the villain keeps using his various quirks to hold them off. Nine prepares to shoot them again, but Hanta intervenes and wraps Nine's arm with his tape and attacks him, but he is defeated after Nine uses his laser to blast him. Katsuki yells for his friend as Hanta falls to the ground, unconscious and unable to continue fighting.

While he is unconscious, Izuku and Katsuki manage to defeat Nine, saving the island and its inhabitants in the process. After Class 1-A emerged victorious over the threat, the military and a large number of heroes arrive on Nabu Island, rescuing the civilians and medically treating Class 1-A. The villains are arrested, and Class 1-A continues to stay on Nabu Island to help repair the damage done by Nine and his villains until the Public Safety Commission suspends the program and orders them to be sent home. With the island being repaired by the military and the heroes, Class 1-A boards a ferry to return to the U.A. High School.[67]

Endeavor Agency Arc#

Along with Denki Kaminari, Hanta makes fun of Katsuki because, as both find hilarious that all of Katsuki's footage from his interview after defeating a group of villains was cut out by the interview staff due his behavior. Later, he participates in a Hero Interview Training impart by Mt. Lady.[68]

Days later, the Hero Work Recommendation Project takes place, staying on Nabu Island before returning.[67]

On the night of Christmas Eve, he celebrates Christmas with his classmates, holding a surprise gift exchange. Hanta gets a frog-shaped object from Tsuyu, while Kyoka gets his blanket of exotic patterns.[69]

With Hero Work-Studies back in effect, he, Denki Kaminari, Minoru Mineta, and Ibara Shiozaki go work for The Lurkers.[70]

My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission#

During the Work Studies, the entire team of The Lurkers joins the operation organized by the World Heroes Association to finish off Humarise, an anti-Quirk cult that had set off a Trigger Bomb in a city, causing a high number of victims. Therefore, the WHA has gathered a large force made up of heroes from around the world to assault the branches that Humarise has in 25 cities around the world. As one of The Lurkers' trainees, Hanta joins the Egypt Task Force, where he meets Salaam, Egypt's top Hero.

The heroes lead an assault on a Humarise forward operating base in Cairo. Despite their successful raid, the heroes fail to locate the Trigger Bombs or any of the Humarise's leaders. The Egypt team were ordered to be on standby. During the time, they watch on the TV news that Izuku is framed for mass murder by the Otheon government. Hanta and his classmates refuse to believe it and voices their opinion in defense of Izuku's innocence. He is sure it must be some kind of mistake, an opinion supported by an enraged Minoru.

While they are stationed in Cairo, Humarise publicly broadcast to the entire world that they have planted the Trigger Bombs in over twenty-five countries, one of which where Cairo is located, and they will detonate the bombs in two hours to "cleanse" the population of their Quirks. As the result, Cairo is locked in a state of anarchy and chaos, so the Egypt team scramble to quell the hysteria and locate the Trigger Bomb. Hanta, Denki, and Minoru follows Salaam to locate it.

The heroes manage to find the bomb, having to engage in an all-out war against the Humarise agents who protect it. During the battle, the heroes are informed that Izuku's group intend to storm Humarise's main base in order to defuse the bombs worldwide. Inspired by the resolve of their classmates, Hanta along with Minoru refuse to give up fighting the villains, using their respective Quirks to retain as many of Humarise's agents as possible.

The Lurkers manage to reach the bomb just as the countdown ends, but after a few seconds nothing happens, indicating that Izuku's group had managed to deactivate the Trigger Bombs in time, saving the world from catastrophic destruction. With the main threat neutralized, the heroes defeat the last of Humarise's agents and seize the device, celebrating the victory.

Once the crisis has been averted, the team leave the country and return to Heights Alliance, meeting with the other classmates who also participated in the operation as well as those who remained in the school. Hanta and Denki take the opportunity to show Katsuki a Salaam merchandising item, something that doesn't interest him.[71]

Paranormal Liberation War Arc#

Winter break is over and the students return from their Work-Studies to continue their studies and show their progress with their Quirks and skills.[72] At Ground Alpha, under the supervision of All Might, the students battle Villain Bots to show off the new skills and Super Moves they have developed. Denki, Hanta, and Minoru show off their teamwork and new team moves.[73] Later at night, Hanta helps his classmates to organize a Work Study/Brainstorm/Hot pot party to energize everyone for the new term.[74]

At some point, All Might asks him, Ochaco, and Tsuyu to help Izuku with his training. Izuku explains he wants to learn to use Blackwhip more properly, which is why he asks Hanta for help because his Quirk, Tape, is similar in some way. Hanta accepts but asks if it would not be better if Shota helps them in that matter. All Might explains that Shota is very busy with other matters at the moment which is why he isn't present. Understanding this, the three classmates help Izuku with his training, unaware that their assistance will also help to give Izuku some future control over Float when it manifests.[75]

Months later, by the end of March, Hanta and several other students are involved in an operation to take down the Paranormal Liberation Front, the villain organization lead by Tomura Shigaraki. The Hero Public Safety Commission had uncovered the plans of the Paranormal Liberation Front, so they organized a large force of heroes to take the PLF down. While a team of heroes raid the Jaku General Hospital, where the Nomu are created, another team does the same at Gunga Mountain Villa, the Front's main headquarters.[76][77]

Hanta is a member of the Villa Backup Team along with some of his classmates and Class 1-B students. When the operation starts, Hanta tells Minoru to get up, but he retorts by saying that the rear guard's job is to catch anyone that slips past the front line, so getting pumped up would be an insult to the Pro Heroes, but Hanta tells him again to get up.[78]

After the raid commenced, heroes gained the upper hand, taking down many of the Front's members.[79] However, the Jaku team allowed Tomura to awaken and he ordered Gigantomachia to come to him.[80] This results in the giant defeating many heroes as he simply walked towards Jaku City. After being informed by Midnight, Momo devises a plan and communicates it to her teammates. She creates several vials filled with sedative and give one to each of them,[81] explaining that the plan is to make Gigantomachia swallow at least one.

When Gigantomachia gets to where they are, he falls into a trap set by Momo and Juzo, at which point the students begins their assault. While some are in charge of facing the League's members he carries on his back, others, including Hanta, try to throw the vials into his mouth. The hulking villain blows them away with his powerful breath, but the students continue with the assault,[82] and finally with the help of some heroes and great efforts, they get Gigantomachia to swallow a vial.

More heroes come to face the villains, but annoyed by the constant interruptions, Gigantomachia transforms,[83] taking on an armored appearance, and with his enormous strength he finally manages to get out of the trap and easily defeat the heroes. One of the heroes, Majestic, used his Quirk to bring the students to safety before being defeated. Gigantomachia continues on his way to Tomura, destroying everything in his path.

The students of U.A. watch with complete horror at the destruction left by the monster. An astonished Hanta asked Mezo about the situation of the heroes, but he is unable to give him an answer. Dismay spreads between them to the point that some wonder if the drug really has an effect on the giant.[84]

Two days later in Central Hospital, Hanta, Minoru, Toru, and Rikido are present in Katsuki's room when he woke up from his injuries. They are relieved with Katsuki's recovery, seeing his short fuse as a sign of wellness, much to Katsuki's annoyance. Katsuki then asks what happened to everyone else, but the students can't help but show worried expressions with the current state of hero society.[85]

After the Paranormal Liberation War ended, Hanta returns to Heights Alliance and alongside the rest of the class receives a letter from Izuku explaining his origins as being Quirkless and the power of One For All, making his reasons to leave U.A. High to guarantee their safety from All For One.[86]

Dark Hero Arc#

A few days after Izuku left U.A., Hanta joins a meeting with Class 1-A. He and his classmates deduce that Izuku is now working with Endeavor and his team, as well as All Might. A few days later, impatient with their response, Class 1-A pushed forward using Endeavor's U.A. Alumni status to confront him and finally learn the truth.

Hanta notices Endeavor's phone, recognizing it as also having a GPS, and he tosses it, which several of the students catch. The classmates proceed to state their desire to help Izuku, how learning about One For All and his leaving was a shock, but still declaring they want to follow wherever he goes and help bear the responsibility he must carry.

However, they still have some concerns about the consequences of Izuku's return to U.A. The principal addresses their concerns, stating that the U.A. Barrier has received significant upgrades, both to keep the refugees safe and to counteract Tomura's decay. Nezu also says that the shelters have safe routes to evacuate refugees to other hero schools and areas with comparable security, like Shiketsu High School. Upon hearing this, Hanta cannot help but be surprised that they can reach Shiketsu considering the long distance between the two schools.

Once Principal Nezu gives them permission to bring back Izuku to U.A, Hanta joins with the rest of Class 1-A to search for Izuku while at the same time, apprehending any prison escapees along the way.

After about a month of trailing Izuku's whereabouts, Hanta and Class 1-A finally arrive on the scene to defeat the villain Dictator. When Izuku refuses to yield, he demands everyone to get out of his way, which means they might have to fight him.[87]

Izuku tries to escape with his Blackwhip, but Hanta manages to subdue Daigoro Banjo's Quirk and wrap one of Izuku's hands with his own Tape, preventing him from conjuring another one, while also commenting on how freaky it looks and it being the reason everyone is so scared of him now. Izuku remembers that it was thanks to his advices that he was able to use Blackwhip more effectively and creatively in the first place.[88]

Once Izuku rips the Tape free, he is constantly attacked by several other classmates before being finally caught by Tenya. Hanta rejoins with the rest of Class 1-A and listens to Katsuki apologizing to Izuku before he collapses from the shock and exhaustion. Once Izuku is safely secured, he escorts him with the rest of the class back to a heavily fortified U.A. High, where Class 1-A is confronted by angry civilians, protesting Izuku's entry.[89]

They are aware that Tomura is after Izuku and fear them being in danger, leading Ochaco to give a pleading speech toward the crowd on why he needs their help and deserves to stay and rest, with the civilians eventually agreeing.[90]

Izuku is escorted inside, where Hanta and the other boys of the class quickly strip him of his dirty clothes, washing him vigorously and then dumping him in the bathtub before joining in. After finishing the bath, Izuku finally passes out from exhaustion, and Hanta joins the rest of the class in declaring they'll do whatever they can to bring back the world and make it better.[91]

Star and Stripe Arc#

Two days later, Class 1-A learn that during this time, Tomura had fought American No. 1 Hero, Star and Stripe, and while she was killed during the battle with Tomura successfully stealing her Quirk, New Order, thanks to her actions, the Quirk acted like a virus within his body, destroying several of his Quirks and delaying his procedure by about a week.

All Might informs all this to the class, telling them that this is now their perfect time to prepare for the inevitable all-out war. The class reveals over the past month they had been training with the Wild, Wild Pussycats in order to keep up with Izuku in the incoming conflict, and are now about to head out to continue their training.[92]

U.A. Traitor Arc#

The class proceed to train amongst themselves in the courtyards outside. Shortly after this, Hanta alongside the rest of the class discover the news that Izuku has captured the Aoyamas and revealing Yuga to be the traitor who isolated the class at the U.S.J. and revealed the location of their training camp.

Once the Aoyamas are restrained, he and the other class refuse to back down from the news despite Nezu's request, all in stunned and tears of Yuga's betrayal. He listens to Yuga's desperation that drove him to despair and then Izuku pleading to let Yuga help them, leading the class to realize Yuga may be the only one able to deceive All For One.[93]

Present Mic asks Class 1-A why, with them being the greatest victims after all this, they're so willing to trust him, and Tenya simply responds that what happened is in the past, and with them being unable to realize how he's been feeling all this time, they carry some responsibility, so they must reach out to him as friends in order for them to become equals again. Katsuki comments how due to what he's had to deal with because of him a couple Howitzer Impact shots would make them even, with Hanta adding may be going a bit too far.

Shota then appears on a tablet screen, taking full responsibility and reveals that he has an idea. He listened to Shota's plan after the Aoyama Family's ears have been covered. Naomasa then has the Aoyama Family escorted back to their HQ, telling everyone not to say a word to anyone else about the plan while he and the rest of the class look on sullenly.

Back at Heights Alliance, Hanta takes a breather, before getting ready to gear back up, as he and everyone, with fire and rage in their eyes over the betrayal, prepares to bring All For One down once and for all.[94] He joins up with their "Search Squad" to head out to hunt down the villains.[95]

Later that night, he and his classmates return to Heights Alliance for a break after coming up with nothing from their search. All Might, Naomasa, and Nezu then arrive, informing them all about their secret finalized plans for the upcoming Second War.[96] They call in Hitoshi Shinso, revealing their plan to get him to brainwash the Aoyamas so that they can communicate with All For One without him detecting any ill intent. The class cheers on Hitoshi for his growth, including their teacher after learning he trained him.[97]

The next day, Nezu announces to the civilians that Tomura will make his big move in 4 days, with Class 1-A moving outside of the U.A. barrier to began prioritizing their safety. He says his goodbyes before moving out of Heights Alliance and into its upgraded makeshift fortress called "Troy". Upon arriving, Hanta comment that he hopes the building doesn't turn into their final resting place. Rikido asks him not to say things like that.[96]

My Hero Academia: You're Next#

During Class 1-A's Quirk training, preparing to hunt down the jailbreakers and allies of Tomura and All For One, several students are interested in the Izuku's notebook, where he records his analyses and opinions about his Quirks. The students of Class A swarm Izuku's notebook to see what he has written about them, and are impressed by his meticulous work, though Katsuki is offended because what was written about him, and several classmates rushes to try to calm him down.

Mezo and Koji comment that the situation feels like everyday life. Hanta replies it's fine, because that is how everyone become strong. All Might arrives and praises Hanta for his comment, before notifying everyone it's time to move out. The students take off in armored vans to track down the Villains.[98]

Throughout the month, Hanta becomes a member of Team 3 of Class 1-A, consisting of Izuku, Ochaco, Kyoka, Toru, and Mashirao, to apprehend all the Jailbreakers who escaped from Tartarus and other maximum-security prisons across the country. The team rendezvous with Teams 1 and 2 for a break from combat, taking the chance to motivate each other, relax, and complain about the Villains.

However, they're suddenly attacked by a group of rogue Villains, intent on stealing one of the Heroes' armored trucks. Expecting the attack, the U.A. students fight back and defeat them. The Villains are handed over to the police as All Might informs the students of new Villain sightings, and they split into three groups, following up on the reports.[99]

While his team is hunting for the villains, they receive word that they were attacking a nearby refugee camp in the northwest sector. They ransacked every supply they could get their hands on, with one of the Villains using their Quirk to transform into a truck and hijack it. Izuku decides to go ahead of the rest of the team to intercept them..

Izuku attacks the Villains and easily stops their hijacking. One of the villains, who has a bouncing quirk, tries to escape, but is stopped by Mashirao and taped by Hanta. Thanks to Izuku, his teammates have no difficulty securing the jailbreakers, with Hanta asking Izuku to leave them some action.

Once the villains are handed over to the police, Hanta contacts the other teams to inform them that they have captured three jailbreakers. Katsuki replies by boasting that his team has captured four villains, but is upset to hear that Shoto's team has captured six villains. Calling him by his full hero name, Tenya reminds Dynamight that numbers aren't the important thing, and Hanta remarks that "Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight" is a childish hero name seems, which bothers Katsuki.

The conversation is interrupted when Hawks, via the Counter-Force,gives the teams their next assignment: apprehend a Tartarus escapee, Ginji Kurau, who has been spotted nearby, so they all head there.

At the Port of Niigata, Ginji runs away with a woman in his hand. Team 3 arrives on the scene to arrest Ginji and save Anna Scervino, but the villain escapes using his Quirk, Mad Gluttony, to rip through several buildings before they can corner him. Izuku goes on ahead, and the fight leads them to crash into a civilian refugee camp where Izuku tries to restrain Ginji with his Blackwhip, but then suddenly, Ginji becomes more powerful after holding the woman again, allowing him to overwhelm him nearly.

Before Ginji could counter-attack, a man with an eyepatch and cybernetic prosthetics named Giulio Gandini appears and shot at Ginji from a long distance, causing him to let go of the woman. He rides his motorcycle and then loads his prosthetic robot arm to take another shot at Anna, which Izuku is too slow to stop, before Bruno Gollini uses his Delay Spot Quirk to stop the bullet in a time-slowing bubble Ginji. He collects Anna, just before the rest of Team 3 arrives to assist Izuku.

However, they suddenly find themselves confronted with a floating ship carrying the Gollini Family Mafia, consisting of Bruno, Kamile, Deborah, Paulo, Simon, Ugo, Gi, and their leader, Valdo Gollini. He undoes his mask, revealing that he has the appearance of prime All Might, shocking everyone. Anna tries to resist upon being taken onto the ship, but Deborah uses her Quirk, Day Dream, to subdue her.

Toru asks what's going on, to which Hanta replies that he doesn't know either, wondering where Ginji is. Then the students realize that the villain has taken advantage of the chaos to run away, causing collateral damage to many buildings, endangering many civilians. Hanta and the Team break off from engaging Ginji to rescue the civilians who were about to be crushed by debris. He uses his Quirk to ensnare the collapsing buildings before they can crush the civilians.

While the U.A. students are busy saving people, Valdo gets in Ginji's way and brutally defeats him with a powerful Smash similar to All Might’s powers when he had One For All. The shockwave from the attack is so powerful that it knocks people off their feet and causes structural damage in the surrounding area. Izuku is in shock seeing how the All Might impersonator's reckless attack endangered everyone else around.

Valdo then uses his Quirk to turn several of his coins into cameras and hack every communication network still functioning in the country, with everyone being shocked by his appearance. He announces to the country that he has come to "save Japan" from their despair caused by the war and vows that he will use his strength and power to promote justice and become the next Symbol of Peace in honor of All Might’s god-like powers.

Izuku calls him out with disgust over using violence and putting innocent civilians in danger, taiting All Might's legacy. Hearing his words, Valdo decides to prove Izuku wrong by using his powers. He touches the hypnotized Anna Scervino, and suddenly, his powers tremendously increase as their floating ship transforms into a massive fortress, consuming everything in its path in an ocean of light.

Team 3 tries to flee with as many civilians as they can carry but are helpless after the transformation catches up to them and is consumed as well. Teams 1 and 2, who had just arrived in the area, witnessed the rapid expansion of the transformation. They trys to flee but they, too, are soon caught by the transforming light.

Hanta and his teammates regain consciousness in a jungle-like environment, but they soon realize that the trees and plants are artificial. Aside from them, there isn't a single one of their classmates or any other civilians present, and they also discover they can't communicate with each other. Given the situation, Izuku suggests they should do is confirm the status of the people who were absorbed before escaping from the place, and everyone agrees.

After walking for a while, they reach a dead end. Toru discovers a manhole, so Izuku uses Float, and Ochaco uses her Quirk to lower themselves to investigate. Suddenly, Izuku's Quirk stops working, forcing him to hold on and tell Ochaco to return and inform the others. As soon as she leaves, he loses his grip and falls down the deep hole. On the surface, Ochaco explains to the others what is happening, so Hanta decides to extend his tape so they can go down without needing to use their Quirks.

After a while, the five students lower themselves into the chute and end up a snowy mountainous area where Izuku is supposed to be, but they can't see him anywhere. Noting they can use their Quirks again, they think Izuku having something to do with it. Suddenly, a hole opens beneath the ground, and the team falls into another chute, leading them to a city center inside the fortress. They come out to see Deborah and Anna with the civilians under Deborah’s control. Before they can attack, but Deborah uses her Quirk on them, sending them into their dreams.

In his dreams, Hanta dreamt of himself crawling around a giant web of his tape while surveying the area around him. While under Deborah’s Quirk, Hanta touches Anna, but her Overmodification reveals that he is incompatible with her Quirk and convulses in a painful seizure before losing consciousness.

Later, Izuku and Giulio arrive at the location and also fall to Deborah's Quirk, but they manage to free them from her control, injuring her in the process, waking up the students and the kidnapped citizens. Anna is also freed, but Giulio is about to shoot her, something she seems to accept. However, Izuku intervenes and prevents Giulio from killing Anna. Then Kamile appears and uses his Spatial Excursion quirk to rescue Deborah and take Anna, without the others being able to prevent it.

As students and citizens recover, Giulio finally explains everything about Anna and the Gollini Family. A while ago, he was hired by Anna's father to help with her Overmodification Quirk, which allows her to greatly enhance the Quirk Factors of a few compatible people. However, her quirk became more uncontrollable with the passage of time. Only thanks to his Neutralization Quirk, he could temporarily neutralize her Quirk by touching her with his right arm.

Despite this, Anna's Quirk was becoming more and more powerful and there would come a time when not even his neutralization would be enough to contain it, so Anna made Giulio promise that he would kill her if her Quirk becomes unstable and hurts people. However, the Gollini Family learned of Anna's Quirk, and attacked the household, kidnapping Anna and killing everyone else. Giulio survived, but he had to have parts of his body replaced with robotic prosthetics, and no longer can use his Quirk. He tracked Anna to Japan to fulfill the promise he made to her before is to late.

Like his classmates, Hanta voices his objection that killing Anna will end her suffering, and even if it does, they know that it is not what she and Giulio wanted. They understand that Giulio went through so much to get Anna back, and they will not let her Quirk grow out of control, vowing to save Anna from her Quirk and Giulio. They understand that Giulio went through so much to get Anna back, and they will not let her Quirk grow out of control, vowing to save Anna. Team 1 soon appears and also agrees to help Giulio and Anna and defeat Valdo, who now calls himself Dark Might.

After several of his subordinates were defeated by the students, Dark Might orders to change the course of the flying fortress and head directly to the U.A. Shelter. He then broadcasts to the students that he will become the Symbol of Peace when he destroys All Might and the last remnants of the Heroes still at the U.A. Class A organize to prevent this, and while Izuku, Katsuki, Shoto, Fumikage and Giulio head to face the villains, Hanta and the remaining classmates round up the civilians and prepare to evacuate the fortress.

While leading the civilians to safety, the students hear explosions coming from outside the flying fortress and assume it is the heroes trying to assault the Symbol of Paradise. Then they receive help from Mirio, who easily infiltrates the fortress with his Permeation and helps direct everyone towards the exit. Outside the town, thousands of monsters conjured by the fortress appear to stop them. Tenya asks Mirio to escort the civilians to safety, and orders Hanta, Koji, Tsuyu, and Toru to help him, while him and the remaining students volunteers to cover the civilians and fight the monsters.

Mirio leads everyone to a prearranged location, and he manages to signal the Heroes outside the fortress. Endeavor fires several full bursts of his Prominence Burn, creating a hole large enough for the civilians to fall through. They are all caught by the Heroes and brought to safety. With the evacuation successfully completed, Hanta and his companions return to the battlefield to aid in the fight.

The class pushes back against monsters, with Hanta using his tape to restrain them long enough for his classmates to deal the finishing blow. However, Class 1-A is starting to lose the battle of attrition against the fortress monsters as every time they destroy them, more monsters keep generating, and on the verge of their defeat, the Heroes from outside manage to get inside the fortress and back them up. They keep fighting until the creatures suddenly begin to decompose, indicating that Izuku, Shoto, and Giulio had managed to defeat Dark Might. Meanwhile, Mirio manages to locate Kamille and knock him out, halting the fortress as it starts falling from the sky.

Although the danger seems to be over, Anna loses control of her Quirk, and Valdo regains consciousness and uses her enhanced properties to turn himself into a colossal monster. Giulio manages to touch Anna, and his own Neutralization Quirk becomes greatly enhanced, allowing him to use it on Anna finally. With Dark Might vulnerable, Izuku, Shoto, and Katsuki defeat him definitively.

With the Gollini Family defeated, the U.A. Shelter is safe, and everyone cheers on the Heroes and Class 1-A for their valiant victory. Hantaand the rest of the class watch as Anna decides to stay with Giulio, now that her Quirk is finally nullified for good.[100]

Final War Arc#

With the number of Heroes rapidly dwindling, those that remain and the Counter-Force plan for an all-out Final War to defeat All For One and his army of villains. The plan is to utilize Neito Monoma's Copy Quirk to copy Kurogiri's Warp Gate, which will not only allow the Heroes to catch the Villains off guard, but also allow them to separate the Villains all over Japan.[97] They also plan to use Yuga as bait and lure All For One out in an open spot where they want them.

On the day of the operation, Hanta remains with Class 1-A until Izuku made contact with Yuga, successfully luring the villains out in the open, before the Heroes are summoned to the battlefield thanks to Neito and Warp Gate. All Might promptly activates the "Troy" defense system, encasing the villains into cages long enough for the Heroes to push them all into separate Warp Gates, splitting them up all over Japan.[101][102]

Hanta, alongside Mashirao and Rikido, are sent to the Takoba National Stadium to battle a group of villains. They eventually receive word of Shoto defeating Dabi, causing the latter two to comment on Shoto's behalf, while Hanta looks on, contemplating about something.[103] Initially, they had the upper hand after defeating the other villains present at the stadium, but they struggle against a Tartarus escapee known for wide-range devastation and battles of attrition, Gashly Eijiju.

His duplications are outnumbering Hanta and the Heroes, until eventually a Warp Gate courtesy of Shota and "Kurogiri" appears above the battlefield, as reinforcements arrive to swiftly take down the villain and conclude the battle.[104] Shota regroups with his three students at the stadium, and proceeds to warp them to Mt. Fuji to provide reinforcements for Izuku in his fight against Tomura.

As a result of the battle, All For One retakes control over Tomura's body, and Izuku completely loses both of his arms. Before "All For One" can attack Izuku, Hanta appears from behind, using his Tape to hold him back. Hanta declares they're here to save him, when Mashirao and Rikido also arrive, smashing the villain back with a Tornado Tail Dance and Sugar Knuckle combo attack. Shota also emerges from the Warp Gate, apologizing for the delay.[105]

Shota declares it is time to start Phase 3 of the divide and conquer operation, as many Warp Gates begin to appear around the battlefield. "All For One" asks him if they've come to have their Quirks stolen before the remaining Heroes, including several 1-A students, arrive to back Izuku up.[104]

"All For One" stares at the "array of dull ashen flesh" among Izuku, telling them that with his obsession gone, only a gaping hole of loss remained, one which no attack could strike, which allowed him to evade his death blow. Unleashing a hoard of dangerous Quirks from his arms, he tells Izuku that he now understands that tragedies engender true strength, asking if he agrees.

However, Hanta interjects that unlike many others, his life has not been filled with wild highs or tragic lows, and all he had pushing himself forward was not wanting to fall behind in his classmates. As he rushes toward "All For One", he continues to mention about someone who has had to deal with his own tough times, and how he used to look all zonked-out and empty, and he believes everyone would be better off not having to go through all that miserable and tragic crap.

Suddenly, as two Warp Gates surround "All For One", Shoto and Endeavor emerge from the gate and blast him with a dual Flashfire Fist combo attack. Hanta quickly pulls the two of them away as he states that's what he's been thinking ever since Shoto defeated Dabi and what he wanted to say to him.[106]

As Izuku runs toward "All For One", the villain unleashed hordes of Quirk attack all over the battlefield, blasting away every Hero who gets in his way, but they all keep countering against his attacks. Shota then calls out to the Heroes through their comms, telling them to help Izuku carve a straight path to Tomura. "All For One" sends a wave of Rivet Stabs and Black Lightning at him, but Hanta and several U.A. Hero Course students jump in the way to take the hits and block the attacks.

Soon, more Heroes continue to cover Izuku long enough for him to come into direct contact with the villain and bashes him with a Smash right through his chest.[107] Eventually, Izuku manages to defeat "All For One" once and for all, just before Tomura succumbs to his injuries and dies as his body disintegrates into ashes.[108]

One week after the end of the Final War, the restoration efforts that were stalled after the Jaku Hospital Raid have picked back up at a breakneck pace, as Heroes from around the world arrived to provide support and resources in rescue and rebuilding Japan. Once he recovers from his injuries, Hanta can return to U.A. to the partially rebuilt U.A.[109]

Epilogue Arc#

Later, in June, Hanta attends the U.A. High Graduation along with the rest of his classmates. He watches the Third years receive their diplomas from Principal Nezu, including Tamaki, Nejire, and Mirio. With his choice of music and exuberant announcement style, Present Mic make the graduation ceremony feel like a party. Hanta is perplexed by this, because graduations are supposed to be a solemn event.

At the end of the ceremony, Mirio gives a farewell speech, and like almost all the students, Hanta flips-takes when he doesn't start with one of his usual jokes. Nevertheless, Hanta listens attentively to Mirio's motivational speech, where he talks about the need to achieve a future where people can smile.

Once the graduation ceremony is over, Class 1-A has become 2-A and are moved to a temporary classroom. Shota states that they were supposed to be getting a different homeroom teacher, but due to the circumstances, he will be their homeroom teacher for another year, to the students' excitement.

Katsuki comments that's one hurdle cleared, when Hanta asks him what he's doing here in the classroom while he was supposed to be in the hospital, to which Katsuki replies he was allowed to return to school by the doctors on the condition to take it easy; furthermore, everyone had to be there today. Hanta mumbles he's making too much sense, but Katsuki overhears him and get upset by his remark, forcing Shota to use his authority to restore calm.

Just then, Yuga enters to say his goodbyes since he will be leaving U.A for good, even despite the class' insistence, and both Shota and Naomasa saying he could stay. He vows to atone for his crimes, and will once more walk the path of a hero. He promises that someday he will be worthy of standing beside them all. Everyone reacts to his words, and to keep everyone else from crying, Yuga begins emotionally blasting his Navel Lasers all over.

Yuga then reveals another surprise to the class, that Hitoshi will be taking his place as Class A's newest member. Everyone is excited to see him and starts swamping him for questions, causing Yuga to get jealous, so he blasts some more light again asking about a farewell party.

After things calmed down, their senior Mawata Fuwa announces that during the next weeks, the second and third-year students will participate in reconstruction and patrol tasks throughout the country under her supervision. The students are surprised when she casually addresses Shota as "Era-sen", and Mawata explains she used to be in his class, and he once expelled everyone to give them a taste of "death," which made them understand why they wanted to become Heroes.

After school, several 2-A students walk talking together about how excited they are about the news first years arriving tomorrow, now that they're all second years and upperclassmen. This means they will have to put in extra effort starting tomorrow. Hanta jokes that now they did get some downtime, referencing Ochaco's big speech. Ochaco doesn't take his comment well, and Tenya scolds him, though Hanta insists he didn't mean any harm.[110]

As the new semester begins, fangirls and first-year students swarm all over Shoto and Katsuki, much to their annoyance. Both run to their class and hides behind Tenya, who reprimands the new students for the ruckus they have caused. The first years apologize for crowding around Shoto and Katsuki, saying how excited they were and that they were both inspirations to them. Hitoshi is confused since he figures Katsuki is the type to crave adoration by fans, which Hanta replies that even he gets flustered with that many people.

Later, Class A join up with some Heroes in a city on reconstruction duty, assisting Fat Gum, Suneater, and Best Jeanist in demolishing and repairing a section of buildings. As reconstruction treks on, local civilians provide food for the students to eat for lunch, as a thank you for their help and hard work.

At that moment another bus arrives, bringing the first-year students. Their homeroom teacher, Cementoss, explains they insisted on helping with the reconstruction efforts in order to be of use and to make up for their earlier misgivings. They are given minor tasks to assist while class 2-A rest.

Later that night, because they eased up on dormitory requirements, students who wanted to go back home could, Ochaco decides to go home for a bit. Tsuyu had noticed that Ochaco was trying to pretend everything was fine, and she tried to contact her, but Ochaco wasn't responding to her text messages. Concerned, Tsuyu decides to tell the rest of the class about what's happening, and immediately everyone goes out to look for her.[111]

Hanta and the rest of Class A head over to the hillside of former Troy to check on her, only to see that Izuku had come before the class and Ochaco seems to be doing well. While they comfort her, Katsuki asks Izuku about the embers of One For All he just used up. The class freaks out upon learning that Izuku only has embers remaining of One For All, and swarms over him to get the details and scolding him for leaving them out on this important development, which the boy quickly agrees to fill them in on.

Later, Class 2-A celebrate their goodbye party for Yuga, with Eri singing for the first time in front of the entire class while Kyoka plays the guitar.[112]

As time passes, Class A becomes Third Year and focuses on their reconstruction efforts while doing Hero work. Finally, it was time for Class A's graduation ceremony, and all Third Year Students from Class A, B, and Support Course are prepared to have their diplomas ready. After receiving his from Principal Nezu, Hanta listens to Tenya's farewell speech about their hard work, which ends with a bang with an huge explosion caused by Katsuki and Monoma.[113]

In the eight years following her graduation, Hanta becomes a fully-fledged hero. Despite his Quirk not being very flashy, he is love by people and has considerable popularity.

In other matters, Izuku is now a teacher at U.A., and due to his loss of One For All, Hanta and his former classmates funded the creation of a mechanical armor similar to Armored All Might for him. They have to pool a lot of funding from their Hero Work to help making the suit with the aid of Melissa and Mei.

Once the suit was done, All Might delivers the surprise gift for Izuku, who tears up and smiles to be able to be a hero again. When Hawks mentions traffic being backed up because of a landslide on WarStar Road and requesting Heroes who can respond, Izuku puts on his new "Armored Deku" suit and is joined by the rest of his former classmates. As they head to the landside, Hanta joins the rest of his fellow Heroes of Class A.[113]

At a restaurant, the former students of Class A celebrate Shoto's new Number 2 Hero ranking on the Hero Billboard Chart JP. The classmates discuss amongst themselves the differing nature of the hero rankings nowadays, and joking around about each other's placements and their current statues as Heroes and Sidekicks. Rikido mentions his surprise everyone has been able to get together once again, which Mashirao states is due to the decreasing number of Villains every year. Fumikage remarks on the Heroes both old and new that have continued fighting all this time, thinking that eventually Heroes are headed towards extinction. Toru then reveals that Shihai and Kinoko are now dating, leading Hanta to ask about Denki and Kyoka as a pair, since their Hero Agencies are right next to each other. They both laugh it off as Denki simply moving into the available building next door. Suddenly, everyone receives a notification of a criminal's Quirk causing a lot of damage, as the former classmates blast off together.

The incident is quickly resolved, as the criminal is arrested, noting that it was just a "sudden impulse", with Tenya glad it didn't escalate any further. The group decide to split up for the night, with all of them going their separate ways.[114]
