History#
Since childhood, Koji Koda has been a shy person, and always loved animals, due to his Anivoice Quirk he inherited from his mother. At one point, his mother told him that one day, he would get horns that would allow his Quirk to reach more animals from even further away. She also suggested that he follow in his father's footsteps by becoming a man who stands up for those he cares about and gets angry when someone laughs at them, as she had faced persecution due to being a heteromorph.[1]
In spite of his nature, Koji manages to get accepted to U.A. High School, to the great joy of his mother, who congratulates him.[2]
Synopsis#
Battle Trial Arc#
He is teamed with Rikido Sato as "Team F" after being randomly drawn.[3]
U.S.J. Arc#
Shota announces to Class 1-A that their lesson in Foundational Skill of Heroics will be the Trial of Rescue, and will take place at the Unforeseen Simulation Joint (U.S.J.) Facility, a practical training area that is designed to simulate any kind of accident or disaster. One of the teachers for the lesson is the Space Hero: Thirteen.[4]
However, before the lesson begins, a black portal opens up and dozens of villains come through it. Shota orders Thirteen to evacuate Class 1-A and try alerting the rest of the school while he runs to deal with the villains. However, Kurogiri appears and uses his Quirk to teleport most of the Class 1-A students to different areas of the USJ. Koji is teleported along with Fumikage to the Downpour Zone, where a group of Villains are waiting to ambush them.[5]
Due to the situation, Fumikage explains to Koji the weaknesses of his quirk.[6] Since that moment, the two face the villains until Present Mic comes to their aid, defeating all of them.[7] After the League of Villains is defeated, Koji is seen with his class, having survived the Downpour Zone with little trouble.[8]
U.A. Sports Festival Arc#
Koji places 20th in the Obstacle Race, allowing him to participate in the next event, the Human Cavalry Game.[9] He teams up with Toru, Kyoka, and Rikido.[10] Koji fails to advance to the tournament event due to his team being unable to accumulate enough points to advance.[11]
Koji, along with his class, watches the closing ceremony of U.A. Sports Festival.[12]
Vs. Hero Killer Arc#
Two days after the Sports Festival, Koji is seen in class. During the Hero Informatics period, during which the students have to decide on potential Hero names, Koji writes down and shows his Hero name: "Petting Hero Anima".[13]
After Class 1-A is finished formulating their Hero names, Koji is given a list of 40 work places in order to choose a work place that he wants to train at. On the day of the work place training, Koji is at the train station with his class so that he can travel to the work place of his choice by train.[14]
Final Exams Arc#
Koji is paired with Kyoka and they must face Present Mic within 30 minutes in order to win and pass the test. Once the test begins,[15] Present Mic uses his Voice Quirk to keep Kyoka and Koji off guard. Annoyed by Present Mic's loud voice, Kyoka tells Koji to command the nearby animals to attack, but Koji is unable to due to Present Mic's voice being too loud, in addition to it likely having already scared off the wildlife.
Kyoka and Koji manage to get a little closer to the escape gate, but Kyoka notes that Present Mic will be at the escape gate and that no matter what option of victory they choose, a standoff is inevitable. Present Mic uses his loud voice again; Kyoka notes that they cannot get any closer as long as Present Mic is using his Quirk. Kyoka sees an ant and comes up with an idea; she asks Koji if he can control bugs, but his terrified reaction indicates that he is afraid of bugs. Present Mic uses his loud voice once again; Kyoka tries to counteract with her Earphone Jack, but the sound of her heartbeat doesn't do anything against Present Mic.
Present Mic continues using his loud voice against Kyoka and Koji, who are unable to handle it. Out of options, Kyoka asks Koji if he can control insects, which he confirms. Kyoka uses her Earphone Jacks to break a rock, which reveals dozens of insects, much to Koji's terror. Kyoka tells Koji that she understands his phobia, but using the insects to attack Present Mic is the only plan she can think of because their opponent is too strong. Kyoka encourages Koji to follow through with her plan.
After seeing Kyoka's bleeding ears, Koji is ashamed that he is running away from this fight and realizes that he can only continue being at U.A. by overcoming his fear. Koji musters up his courage and though trembling with fear, he uses his Anima Quirk and commands the insects to attack Present Mic while Kyoka is annoyed since he picked that moment to talk. At the escape gate, Present Mic sees that time is nearly up.
Suddenly, dozens of crawling insects emerge from the ground near his left leg and he realizes that the insects traveled to him by moving underground, where sound is ineffective. Present Mic is paralyzed in fear when the insects swarm onto his leg and cause him to faint in horror, allowing Koji to run through the escape gate while carrying an injured Kyoka in his arms.[2]
Back in class, Koji learns that he passed the written test and will go with his classmates to the forest lodge, which is a boot camp. Koji, along with his class, goes to Kiyashi Ward Shopping Mall to buy necessities for the forest lodge.[16]
My Hero Academia: Two Heroes#
At some point, Koji arrives at I-Island.
Koji hangs out with the rest of his class after the I-Expo opens up.[17]
Forest Training Camp Arc#
The next day, after an a meeting between Deku and Tomura Shigaraki at the shopping trip, Shota informs Class 1-A that the destination for their lodge trip has been changed and the new destination will only be announced on the day of the event. The first semester comes to a close and summer break has begun. On the day of the event, Class 1-A boards a bus that will take them to the forest lodge destination.
An hour later, Class 1-A’s bus stops for a restroom break. There, they meet Pixie-Bob and Mandalay, two members of the Wild, Wild Pussycats, who challenge the students to reach base camp past the forest in three hours. Then, the students are forcibly thrown into the Beast's Forest by Pixie-Bob's Quirk. Minoru goes into the forest to find a place to piss, when suddenly, he is confronted by a beast. Koji tries using his Quirk to control the beast, but it does not work due to the beast being made out of dirt. Izuku, Shoto, Tenya, and Katsuki mobilize and use their Quirks to destroy the clay beast.[18]
The forest soon fills with more clay monsters, and students use their quirk to destroy them. Koji commands birds to distract the beasts so that they can be destroyed by his classmates.[19] After several hours, Class 1-A manages to cross the forest and arrives at the base camp exhausted and battered, where they can finally rest and eat.[20]
The next day at 5:30 AM, Class 1-A are seen outside the training camp cabin. Shota greets his students and tells them that they will undergo reinforcement training to strengthen and upgrade their Quirks. In order to increase the reach of his Anivoice, Koji is doing vocal exercises to build up his vocal cords. It’s also good for helping him become less shy.[21]
After another day of intense training, Koji prepares to participate in a courage test organized by the Pussycats. However, the Vanguard Action Squad of the League of Villains invades that night, attacking the students and teachers.[22] Koji and his classmates take refuge in the main building, where they are protected by Vlad King, until the villains leave after having fulfilled their goal of kidnapping Katsuki.
Two days later, Koji, along his classmates, visits those who ended up hospitalized due to the attack. Once there, he learns of Eijiro and Shoto's plan to rescue Katsuki. Although he does not participate in it, he does not oppose the intentions of her classmates.[23]
Provisional Hero License Exam Arc#
Following the intense villain attacks toward U.A. students, Nezu transforms U.A. into a boarding school in order to protect the students. When Class 1-A arrives at their dorm, Shota scolds them for disobeying the rules and allowing five students to rescue Bakugo. He then says that he would have expelled everyone but Katsuki, Toru and Kyoka (due to them being captured and hospitalized, respectively) from the school, if it weren't for All Might's sudden retirement and asks them to stick to the rules from now on.
Afterwards, the class moves in and decorates their room, then Mina suggests that they make a room showcasing competition. As they enter Koji's room, Mina and Ochaco start to fawn over his pet bunny and play with it.[24] The next day, Shota announces that Class 1-A will be working on developing their own special moves, much to the class' excitement.
The class visits the Gym Gamma, where Cementoss creates a training ground for the class with Ectoplasm using his Quirk to create villains for the class to practice their moves on.[25] In preparation for the Provisional Hero License Exam, Koji decides to upgrade his hero costume, adding new elements, such as a mask that covers his entire face, with holes above over his mouth so his voice still can be heard when he's using his Quirk.[26]
On the day the Hero Qualification Exam starts, Class 1-A arrives at the test location, along with several other classes from other hero schools. Shortly after the exam starts, the first part of the exam involves thinning out the amount of people who can succeed by playing a game, where people put three marks on their body and are given six balls to throw at the other examinee's marks. Those whose marks have been hit are disqualified.[27]
As the exam starts, the students of the other schools focus entirely on U.A. Thanks to their training and costume upgrades, Class 1-A manages to avoid being hit by the balls. Yo Shindo tells his fellow classmates that he will shatter their solid defense, and uses his Vibrate Quirk on the ground, unleashing a powerful earthquake that completely shatters the ground and and causing members of class 1-A to disperse.[28]
After Class 1-A gets scattered after the customary crushing of U.A., Koji has to manage to not be eliminated by participants from the other schools. Fortunately for him, when Yuga is about sacrifice himself to save Tenya, the beam that Yuga shot up in the sky gives him the perfect opportunity to send birds down to the other students who were after Yuga and Tenya. He, along with the rest of Class 1-A, passes the first test.[29]
He and the rest of Class 1-A pass the second task and get their Provisional Hero License except for Shoto and Katsuki.[30]
Shie Hassaikai Arc#
The next day, after the opening ceremony, at classes, Shota talks about Hero Work-Studies and days later, introduces to them the The Big 3, the best U.A. students: Mirio Togata, Tamaki Amajiki and Nejire Hado. They will be the one who will introduce them to the Hero Work-Studies.[31]
Koji, like his classmates, is confused by the eccentric personality of the Big 3, and is also surprised when Mirio challenges them all to a fight. At Gym Gamma, the entire Class 1-A attacks him, but Mirio manages to defeat the entire Class 1-A alone without breaking a sweat thanks to his Quirk Permeation.[32]After the fight, while Class 1-A recovers from their defeat, Mirio advises them to participate in the course, since it will help them improve their abilities and career as heroes, just as it happened to him.[33]
Remedial Course Arc#
Weeks later, after the police raid at the base of Shie Hassaikai, Izuku, Eijiro, Ochaco, and Tsuyu return to their dormitories at the school, where Koji, along the entirety of Class 1-A, is checking to make sure they are doing okay after their mission. Koji even brings his pet rabbit to help them cheer up.[34]
U.A. School Festival Arc#
Shota Aizawa announces that U.A. High School will be having a School Festival, which is sponsored by the other U.A. departments. He tells Class 1-A to pick out a program to perform at the festival. Tenya Ida asks for ideas to class 1-A. Koji suggests a petting zoo, but his classmates also have their own suggestions and they don't reach an agreement.
At Heights Alliance, Class 1-A along with Koji finally decide to accept Mina's idea of carrying out a dance performance for the U.A. School Festival. Then Minoru reminds them all that dancing requires music, so the whole class looks at Kyoka. She believes that his music is nothing special and not very heroic-like, but Koji, along with Denki, encourages her to lead the band and play in the festival, saying that music can help put smiles on people's faces.[35]
Class 1-A students are divided into three groups: Band team, Dance team and Staging team. Koji is part of the staging team with Shoto, Eijiro and Hanta.[36] During the following weeks, the various teams practice their respective functions. On the appointed day, the Class 1-A performance ends up being a huge success.[37]
Joint Training Arc#
Koji participates in the first round of the Joint Training Battle. He is part of the Class 1-A team, formed by Tsuyu Asui, Eijiro Kirishima and Denki Kaminari against Class 1-B team, formed by Ibara Shiozaki, Kosei Tsuburaba, Hiryu Rin, and Jurota Shishida. Hitoshi Shinso from Class 1-C is added to Class 1-A's team.
When the match starts, Koji uses his Quirk to send pigeons to explore and find the B team members. The pigeons return to inform him that Ibara is alone, probing over wide range with her Vines Quirk. Class A heads towards her position, but they are ambushed by Jurota, who smashes both Eijiro and Tsuyu through nearby pipes. He reveals that his team knew Koji would find them with his Quirk and used Ibara as bait. Kosei Tsuburaba follows up by trapping Koji inside an Air Prison.[38]
A confrontation between both teams takes place, and Tsuyu captures Kosei with her tongue, taking him back to the jail to eliminate him from the match, being persecuted by Jurota. Koji and Eijiro block his path. Koji tries to use a small swarm of insects to stop Jurota while Eijiro attack him with his Red Gauntlet, but both fail, and Jurota tosses Eijiro into the air, allowing Ibara to capture him with her Vines. Jurota retreats, carrying Koji while muffling his ability to speak, and the two Class 1-A students are put in their jail, eliminating them from the match.[39]
Despite this setback, Class 1-A wins the set 4-2. When Shota Aizawa asks his students what they learned from the battle, Koji responds that he needs to be able to give better instructions to insects, so Shota tells him to keep thinking about his weaknesses.[40]
After his round, Koji remains watching the rest of the matches. The Joint Training Battle end with Class 1-A victory.[41] Despite the fierce competition and the result, the exercise ends on good terms between both classes, and later Class 1-B visits Class 1-A's dormitories for socializing and dinner.[42]
My Hero Academia: Heroes: Rising#
During fall, the Hero Public Safety Commission devises the Hero Work Recommendation Project, to help to train the new generation of Heroes due All Might retirement. Weeks go by, and shortly after winter begins, after the Hero Interview Training, Class 1-A is sent to Nabu Island, a remote place in southern Japan. The Pro Heroes who protected the island are about to retire, so the students will take care of the place, performing duties as real heroes acting like their own "Hero Office" until the arrival of new Pro Heroes.
Because Nabu Island is quite isolated from the rest of the country, and therefore far from any villain activity, there has been no notable incident in the last thirty years. For this reason, their work on the island involves mostly minor deeds. Koji is sent to retrieve pets that were lost on the island.
The next day, while Koji and several class 1-A students are waiting in the office for a request, a neighbor and Fumikage arrive to report that the island is being attacked by a group of villains. Tenya quickly organizes the class to face this crisis. Koji teams up with Ochaco to assist in the evacuation of civilians on the beach, which was under attack by villain Chimera.
While several of his companions face the villain, Koji, Ochaco, Tsuyu and Mezo manage to evacuate all the civilians from the place. Then, they see a gigantic hologram of Deku asking for help, which was created using the Quirk of a girl named Mahoro. Koji and the other four run to the place of origin of the hologram, finding Izuku and Katsuki defeated, Mahoro and her younger brother Katsuma, and the villains Nine and Slice.
Nine orders Slice to get the kids, but as she tries to approach them, Koda uses his Anivoice Quirk to call forth a huge flock of crows to block her path. Mezo then rushes in and carries the kids off while Ochaco taps Deku and Katsuki and Tsuyu carries them together with her tongue. Because her leader is suffering from his illness, Slice doesn't pursue them and decides to retreat so Nine can recover.
At night, the students retreat to a factory to heal their wounds and provide first aid to the inhabitants of the island. Koji helps in the kitchens preparing meals for the refugees. Later, they have a meeting where they discover that the objective of the villain leader, Nine, is to steal the Cell Activation Quirk from Katsuma. With this information, they devise a plan to approach them in front and keep civilians safe. The plan is to lure the villains to the furthest corner of the island where ancient castle ruins are. Rikido, Koji and Toru will lead the island's citizens and livestock into a cave to hide. Meanwhile, the rest of the Class 1-A will fight the villains.
Because of the powers unleashed by Nine during the confrontation, he causes a cave-in, trapping Koji, Rikido, and Toru along with the civilians in the cave. Rikido uses his enormous strength to prevent the rocks from falling on the civilians, while ordering his companions to take them to the bottom. Although the entrance is sealed, Rikido makes sure that no one else is injured. After this, everyone remains locked up until a few hours later, when several Pro Heroes arrive on the island and get them out of there, providing first aid.
During the time they remained in the cave, Koji's classmates managed to defeat Nine and his allies. The students recover from their injuries and help with reconstruction tasks before returning to U.A. High School.[43]
Endeavor Agency Arc#
Koji participates in a program taught by Mt. Lady called Hero Interview Training.[44] Days later, the Hero Work Recommendation Project takes place.[43] Shortly after they return from Nabu Island, Koji celebrates Christmas with his classmates, holding a surprise gift exchange.[45]
With Hero Work-Studies back in effect, Koji interns under Wash alongside Class 1-B student Manga Fukidashi.[46]
My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission#
Koji remains at U.A., being one of the five students of Class 1-A not to participate in the international operation organized by the World Heroes Association against Humarise, an anti-Quirk cult led by Flect Turn that had recently carried out a terrorist attack, causing thousands of deaths by detonating a Trigger Bomb in a city. While the five of them are at Heights Alliance, they watch Flect Turn declaring that his organization had placed Trigger Bombs in 25 cities around the world, which in two hours would explode causing great mortality. The heroes located in these cities, including their classmates, do their best to prevent the catastrophic destruction.
Luckily for all, Izuku's group is able to assault the main Humarise headquarters, defeat Flect Turn and defuse the bombs worldwide, saving the world. Once the crisis has been averted, the classmates who were deployed during their Work-Study return back to Heights Alliance and celebrate their victory.[47]
Paranormal Liberation War Arc#
Winter break is over, and so is the Hero Work-Studies. The students return to U.A. to continue their studies and show their progress.[48] Koji, who worked with Wash, shows off his improved communication skills and control over animals.[49] Later at night, Koji helps his classmates to organize a Work-Study/Brainstorm/Hot Pot party to energize everyone for the new term.[50] Some time later, the Mission: Humarise takes place although Koji does not participate in it.[47]
The months go by until it's late March. Thanks to the police investigation and its spy Hawks, the Hero Public Safety Commission has found out the plans of the Paranormal Liberation Front and its allies. With this information the Commission organized a large force of Pro Heroes, divided in several teams to take down the villain organization.
A team of heroes has the mission of storming the main headquarters of the Paranormal Liberation Front, while another team lead by Endeavor will do the same at the Jaku General Hospital, where the Nomu are created. Finally, a third team, made up mainly of students and lead by Burnin, will be in charge of evacuating the residents of a city near the hospital and taking them to a safe place, with Koji in the last one. When everything is ready, the operation starts and Burnin signals the students to start evacuating the citizens.[51][52]
The evacuation of the city proceeds without any problem. Koji collaborates with Manga, and uses his Quirk to evacuate all the animals in the city while his classmates take care of the citizens. Suddenly, the Jaku General Hospital and the entire area around it begin to falling apart, and the disintegration spreads rapidly until it reaches the city itself.[53]
Izuku and Shoto try to stop the destruction but they fail, so Burnin quickly orders the students to run away from the unstoppable destruction, evacuating everyone. Koji and Manga use their Quirks to command the animals to flee.[54] As Izuku, Katsuki, and the heroes continued fighting Tomura Shigaraki, Koji continued helping with the evacuation.[55] In the aftermath of the Paranormal Liberation War, Koji continues to help Manga in rescuing any civilians caught by Gigantomachia's rampage.
After the War ended, Koji and the rest of Class 1-A resettled back at Heights Alliance when they receive a letter from Izuku explaining his origins as being Quirkless and how he must leave U.A. High after being targeted by All For One.[56]
Dark Hero Arc#
A few days after Izuku left U.A., Koji is seen at a meeting with Class 1-A. He and his classmates deduce that Izuku is now working with Endeavor and his team, and also All Might. A few days later, impatient with their response, Class 1-A pushed forward using Endeavor's U.A. Alumni status to confront him and learning the truth. Convinced of Class 1-A resolve to find Izuku, Endeavor decides to hand the students his GPS satellite phone that can pinpoint Izuku’s location. Many of them, like Koji and Hanta, say that they want to help him even though their relationship has been so far school-based.
Once Principal Nezu gives Class 1-A permission to bring back Izuku to U.A., Koji dispatches with his class to search for Izuku while at the same time, apprehending any prison escapees along the way. After a month of trailing in Izuku's whereabouts, Koji and Class 1-A finally arrived on the scene to defeat the villain Dictator. When Izuku refuses to yield, he demands everyone to get out of his way, which means they'll have to fight.[57]
Koji uses his Quirk to summon a large flock of birds to distract Izuku and make it difficult for him to escape. He declares loudly to Izuku that Nezu has allowed him to return to U.A., so there is no need for him to run away.[58] Izuku fought against his former classmates until he is physically and mentally pushed to the brink where Tenya catches up to him.
Koji regroups with the rest of the class and then listens to Katsuki apologizing to Izuku before he collapses from shock and exhaustion. Once Izuku is secured, they escorted him safely back to a heavily fortified U.A. High where they are confronted by angry protesting civilians.[59] They are aware that Tomura is after Izuku and fear them being in danger, leading Ochaco to give a pleading speech toward the crowd on why he needs their help and deserves to stay and rest, with the civilians eventually agreeing.[60]
Izuku is escorted inside, where he and the other boys of the class quickly give him a wash. After finishing the bath, Izuku finally passes out from exhaustion, and Koji joins the rest of the class in declaring they'll do whatever they can to bring back the world and make it better.[61]
U.A. Traitor Arc#
Two days later, Class 1-A learn that during this time, Tomura had fought American No. 1 Hero, Star and Stripe, and while she was killed during the battle with Tomura successfully stealing her Quirk, New Order, thanks to her actions, the Quirk acted like a virus within his body, destroying several of his Quirks and delaying his procedure by about a week. All Might informs all this to the class, telling them that this is now their perfect time to prepare for the inevitable all-out war. The class reveals over the past month they had been training with the Wild, Wild Pussycats in order to keep up with Izuku in the incoming conflict, and are now about to head out to continue their training.[62]
The class proceed to train amongst themselves in the courtyards outside. Shortly after this, Koji alongside the rest of the class discover the news that Izuku has captured the Aoyamas and revealing Yuga to be the traitor who isolated the class at the U.S.J. and revealed the location of their training camp.
Once the Aoyamas are restrained, he and the other class refuse to back down from the news despite Nezu's request, all in stunned and tears of Yuga's betrayal. He listens to Yuga's desperation that drove him to despair and then Izuku pleading to let Yuga help them, leading the class to realize Yuga may be the only one able to deceive All For One.[63]
Shota then appears on a tablet screen, taking full responsibility and reveals that he has an idea. He listened to Shota's plan after the Aoyama Family's ears have been covered. Naomasa then has the Aoyama Family escorted back to their HQ, telling everyone not to say a word to anyone else about the plan while he and the rest of the class look on sullenly.
Back at Heights Alliance, Koji takes a breather, before getting ready to gear back up, as he and everyone, with fire and rage in their eyes over the betrayal, prepares to bring All For One down once and for all.[64] He joins up with their "Search Squad" to head out to hunt down the villains.[65]
Later that night, he and his classmates return to Heights Alliance for a break after coming up empty from their search. All Might, Naomasa, and Nezu then arrive, informing them all about their secret finalized plans for the upcoming Second War.[66]
To everyone's pleasant surprise, All Might brings Hitoshi along, and explains that they will be using his Quirk to trick All For One. Everyone is happy that he can help in the incoming battle and starts cherfully praising him. Koji even asks if he has decided to join Class A or B yet.[67]
The next day, Nezu announces to the civilians that Tomura will make his big move in 4 days, with Class 1-A moving outside of the U.A. barrier to began prioritizing their safety. He says his goodbyes to his mother before moving whit his classmates out of Heights Alliance and into its upgraded makeshift fortress called "Troy".[66]
My Hero Academia: You're Next#
During Class 1-A's Quirk training, preparing to hunt down the jailbreakers and allies of Tomura and All For One, several students are interested in the journal Izuku kept about his Quirks, though Katsuki is offended because Izuku's notes indicate that if he teamed up with Shoto, they would be an unbeatable duo.
Denki and Eijiro intervene to prevent Katsuki from causing trouble, and Koji, along with Mezo, comments that the situation feels like everyday life. All Might walks up to the class and says it's time to move out, as the students take off in armored vans to track down the Villains.[68]
Throughout the month, Koji is a member of Team 1 of Class 1-A, consisting of Katsuki, Fumikage, Eijiro, Rikido, and Mina, to apprehend all the Jailbreakers who escaped from Tartarus and other maximum-security prisons across the country. The team rendezvous with Teams 2 and 3 for a break from combat, taking the chance to motivate each other, relax, and complain about the Villains.
However, they're suddenly attacked by a group of rogue Villains intent on stealing one of the Heroes' armored trucks. The U.A. students, expecting the attack, fight back against the Villains, and defeats them. The Villains are ready to be handed over to the police as the heroes informs the students of new Villain sightings, and they split into three groups, following up on the reports.[69]
His team defeated four Jailbreaker villains and took them to the nearest police station. Team 2 contacts Team 1 and 3 at a police station, who've also apprehended more villains and escapees. Hawks, via the Counter-Force, give the teams their next assignment: apprehend a Tartarus escapee, Ginji Kurau, who has been spotted nearby.
Koji and Team 3 heads over to apprehend Ginji before the other team does, but along the way, they witness a live broadcast of a floating ship carrying the Gollini Family Mafia, consisting of Bruno, Kamile, Deborah, Paulo, Simon, Ugo, Gi, and their leader, Valdo Gollini. He undoes his mask, revealing that he has the appearance of prime All Might, shocking everyone.
Valdo announces to the country that he has come to "save Japan" from their despair caused by the war and vows that he will use his strength and power to promote justice and become the next Symbol of Peace in honor of All Might’s god-like powers. He touches the hypnotized woman Anna Scervino, and suddenly, his powers tremendously increase as he uses his Quirk to transform their floating ship into a massive fortress, consuming everything in its path in an ocean of light.
Teams 1, 2, and 3 witness the rapid expansion of the transformation. The transformation light consumes Teams2 and 3. In a panic, Team 1 tries to flee from the light in their truck, but the light is too fast and catches up with them, consuming Team 2 into the fortress of fake All Might.
Koji and the rest of Team 1 regain consciousness, being shocked to find out they've ended up in an amusement park with a castle in the background. Completely separated and cut off from the other two teams, Katsuki decides to lead the team in finding a way out and reuniting with his classmates.
They enter a castle where All Might's impersonator is waiting for them. After formally introducing himself as Dark Might and explaining that they are in the Symbol of Paradise, he offers to join him on his quest to become the Symbol of Peace, but they refuse, so Dark Might, who wants to test them to see if any are All Might's successors, sends them to an underground dungeon where Simon is waiting for them. He uses his Monster Summon Quirk to conjure multiple monsters, forcing them to fight their way out.
Fortunately, Koji and his team manage to find Simon by brute forcing their way through, and Katsuki defeats him by unleashing a large explosion from his Grenadier Bracers. After being defeated, Dark Might promptly drops Simon into a pit for his failure. The villain praises the students' efforts, but they will die in his fortress and summon more monsters to eliminate Team 2 completely.
However, Koji and Team 2 blow their way out of the dungeon and into the town after defeating Dark Might's puppet monsters, declaring that they're not going to let anyone die while they're still going to be Heroes, vowing to crush the Villains and the fake All Might.
Outside, Dark Might has Kamille change course from gathering cities to the U.A. Shelter, where All Might and most Heroes and civilians are, so he can destroy them all and become the only one standing in his ambitions of becoming the Symbol of Peace.
Dark Might broadcasts to the students that he will become the Symbol of Peace when he destroys the last remnants of the Heroes still at the U.A. he will then be the one they can rely on. Katsuki orders most of Class 1-A to take action and start evacuating the civilians as quickly as possible while he, Izuku, Shoto, and Fumikage move towards the palace to bring back Anna and defeat Dark Might; Giulio Gandini follow them, intending to use his knowledge to assist them.
Koji and Class 1-A round up the civilians and prepare to evacuate the fortress. They receive help from Mirio, who easily infiltrates the fortress with his Permeation and helps direct everyone towards the exit. Outside the town, thousands of monsters conjured by the fortress appear to stop them. Class 1-A volunteers to cover the civilians and fight the monsters while Mirio escorts the civilians to safety. Since he can't fight the monsters because there are no animals there, Koji takes charge of saving the civilians and accompanies Mirio to evacuate them.
Mirio signals the Heroes outside of the location, and Endeavor fires numerous full blasts of his Prominence Burn to make a hole large enough for civilians to fall through, with all the Heroes waiting outside to catch them all and bring them to safety. Once this objective is achieved, the heroes infiltrate the flying fortress to help the students.
While the heroes and most of the students are fighting off the monsters summoned by Dark Might, Mirio defeats Kamille, halting the fortress as it falls from the sky. Meanwhile, after a hard battle, Izuku, Katsuki, Shoto, and Giulio defeat Dark Might, causing the fortress to stop conjuring the monsters, definitively ending the threat posed by Dark Might. With the Gollini Family defeated, the U.A. Shelter is safe, and everyone cheers on the Heroes and Class 1-A for their valiant victory.[70]
Final War Arc#
Shortly before the start of the Final War, Koji and Mezo approach Shota and All Might about being deployed to help defend Central Hospital, which they are surprised to learn they know about. They reveal that several of the mutant refugees had told them about a "call to action" from Spinner and the Paranormal Liberation Front in which the heteromorphs are told to march on the Hospital in order to free Kurogiri, as retribution for their suffering. They insist on needing to be involved, and Shota allows them to go, with Present Mic as the lead watching over them.[1]
As the fighting across all the battlefields begin, a team of heteromorphs, led by a now gigantified Spinner, attempt their storm on the Hospital. During the battle, Present Mic announces Dabi's defeat at Shoto's hand, just as Mezo saves Koji from an attack by Spinner's giant swords. Spinner calls their words "information warfare" and commands the army to get Kurogiri back so they can destroy the status quo. Koji and Mezo remain steadfast to fight the army.[71]
Unfortunately, the heteromorph army, comprising of the Paranormal Liberation Front, and ordinary civilians who advocated for their actions, outnumber the Heroes and the Police Force from 15,000 to 200, overrunning their defences and overwhelming the heroes. Koji is able to save Present Mic from a flying soldier attempting to charge at him by commanding crows to save him, telling him he and Mezo got separated while fighting.
The army proceeds to push the Heores down to create a path for Spinner towards the Hospital, and eventually, Koji was too attacked and is dogpiled to the ground. He asks why they're all doing this, while a heteromorph, recognizing he grew up in the city, calls him a traitor. Takaie Kanigumo, a Liberation soldier, preaches to the crowd that their actions are retribution for "The 6/6 Incident", a time where heteromorphs were brutally massacred just because they looked different.[72] Mezo manages to stand up against Spinner after his mask was ripped, exposing his mouth.
Koji watches as Mezo is able to free himself of the heteromorphs' grasp, with his mask ripped off and his mouth exposed, asking Spinner and the army what their intention is for attacking the innocents at the Hospital. Mezo begins to battle Spinner, who uses his new Quirks to smash him across the skyscraper.
Koji calls out to Mezo after he's tossed through a building, while Takaie continues to command the heteromorphs to strike back at their oppressors and that the blood spilled today will benefit their future, which angers Koji. He recalls back to sometime during their days at U.A., when Mezo showed them his arms, mouth, and scars, and how even despite all the pain he suffered growing up, he wants to fight for a better future for everyone.
Takaie continues to insult Mezo, telling him won't give any alternatives and they will not give in to his naivety. Koji, now enraged, demands him to never laugh at his classmate, as he starts to undergo a transformation that sprouts out horns from his head.[73]The horns are a newly awakened ability that allows him to command a greater number of animals. With this new power, he unleashes his Ultimate Move Hitchcock Birds to overwhelm the Liberation soldier with thousands of birds, knocking him off the building.[1]
While Present Mic heads into Central Hospital after Spinner, Mezo and Koji continue to try to hold off the rampaging heteromorph army, with Koji holding down Takaie. One of the people in the crowd is about to attack Mezo from behind until he is suddenly stopped by a fellow civilian, causing most of the fighting to stop as everyone looks on in surprise. The heteromorph army who entered the hospital are all emerging outside after hesitating to raid the hospital. He stares at the people standing in front of the Hospital's entrance, saying he thinks they're using their anger the wrong way.
Takaie held down by Koji calls out to them to not stop and follow their leader, to let everyone know of the abuse they've endured. The man responds that he still hates how he has been beaten up for no reason, but also worries if he's being indecisive, stating that he got excited over the "call to action" and since the world turned on them they had to turn in upside down.
He thought the time was finally right with their leader, but now wonders if the entire world is truly their enemy, and that he doesn't want to hurt the people in the hospital and breaks down crying in shame. His actions and speech moves all the civilians in the army to halt their advance, causing other Liberation soldiers to cry out why they're not marching forward.
Mezo understands the feelings that gathered them all together weren't wrong, as the ones who've hurt them haven't been dragged into the light yet. After a Hero apologizes to the warrior for not realizing their struggles, Mezo believes that they are all a bright shining example, so they must use this light to change the people who inflict harm, until they feel ashamed of all their cruelty.
Rock Lock looks on, noticing how all movement and passion from the army has ceased, thinking about all they could do to defend themselves was fight, and calls out for reinforcements to move toward the hospital to stop Spinner from awakening Kurogiri.[74]
Despite their best efforts, Kurogiri is awakened, and teleports himself and Present Mic away from the Hospital to U.A.[75] As the storm gets worse, the injured are escorted into the Hospital for safety, while the Liberation members are apprehended. Koji helps Mezo inside to get his injuries treated.[76]
After the clean-up at Central Hospital has concluded, Koji and Mezo are summoned by Shota, who has gained control of "Kurogiri" and has begun assembling all the remaining Heroes who can still fight to provide reinforcements for the final battles. Koji, alongside most of his fellow 1-A students, are warped to Mt. Fuji to help Izuku in his fight against "All For One". Koji comments on how the police asked for anyone who can still fight, as he joins alongside the assembled Heroes, declaring "We are here!"[77]
As Izuku runs toward "All For One", the villain unleashed hordes of Quirk attack all over the battlefield, blasting away every Hero who gets in his way, but they all keep countering against his attacks. Shota then calls out to the Heroes through their comms, telling them to help Izuku carve a straight path to Tomura. "All For One" sends a wave of Rivet Stabs and Black Lightning at him, but Koji and several U.A. Hero Course students jump in the way to take the hits and block the attacks.
Soon, more Heroes continue to cover Izuku long enough for him to come into direct contact with the villain and bashes him with a Smash right through his chest.[78] Eventually, Izuku manages to defeat "All For One" once and for all, just before the villain succumbs to his injuries and dies as his body disintegrates into ashes.[79]
A week after the end of the Final War, the restoration efforts that were stalled after the Jaku Hospital Raid have picked back up at a breakneck pace, as Heroes from around the world arrived to provide support and resources in rescue and rebuilding Japan. Koji has recovered from his injuries and returns to the partially rebuilt U.A.[80]
Epilogue Arc#
Later, in June, Koji attends the U.A. High Graduation along with the rest of his classmates. He watches the Third years receive their diplomas from Principal Nezu, including Tamaki, Nejire, and Mirio. Mirio also gives a motivational farewell speech, speaking about the need for a bright future where people can smile.
After graduation, Class 1-A becomes 2-A and moves to a temporary classroom, where Shota informs them that he will remain their homeroom teacher for another year, much to the class's delight. Yuga then enters to say goodbye, having decided to leave U.A. to atone for his crimes, vowing to become a true hero from scratch. To keep everyone else from crying, he shoots his Navel Laser everywhere.
Yuga then reveals that Hitoshi will be taking his place as Class A's newest member. Koji and several of his classmates are happy about it. Feeling left out by everyone's excitement over Hitoshi, Yuga shoots his lasers again, asking his former classmates to start planning his farewell party.
After things calmed down, their senior Mawata Fuwa announces that during the next weeks, the second and third-year students will participate in reconstruction and patrol tasks throughout the country under her supervision. The students are surprised when she casually addresses Shota as "Era-sen", and Mawata explains she used to be in his class, and he once expelled everyone to give them a taste of "death," which made them understand why they wanted to become Heroes.
The next day, after the new first-years mobbed Katsuki and Shoto in an excess of admiration and had to be scolded by Tenya, Class 2-A join up with some Heroes in a city on reconstruction duty, assisting Fat Gum, Suneater, and Best Jeanist in demolishing and repairing a section of buildings. As reconstruction treks on, local civilians provide food for the students to eat for lunch, as a thank you for their help and hard work.
At that moment another bus arrives, bringing the first-year students. Their homeroom teacher, Cementoss, explains they insisted on helping with the reconstruction efforts in order to be of use and to make up for their earlier misgivings. They are given minor tasks to assist while class 2-A rest.
Later that night, because they eased up on dormitory requirements, students who wanted to go back home could, Ochaco decides to go home for a bit. Tsuyu had noticed that Ochaco was suffering despite trying to pretend everything was fine, and she tried to contact her, but Ochaco wasn't responding to her text messages. Concerned, Tsuyu decides to tell the rest of the class about what's happening, and immediately everyone goes out to look for her.[81]
Koji and the rest of Class A head over to the hillside of former Troy to check on her, only to see that Izuku had come before the class and Ochaco seems to be doing well. While they comfort her, Katsuki asks Izuku about the embers of One For All he just used up. The class freaks out upon learning that Izuku only has embers remaining of One For All, and swarms over him to get the details and scolding him for leaving them in the dark, which the boy quickly agrees to fill them in on.
Later, Class 2-A celebrate their goodbye party for Yuga, with Eri singing for the first time in front of the entire class while Kyoka plays the guitar.[82] As the months went by, Koji would continue working on his school. At some point, he accompanies his friend Mezo to receive an award for his work on behalf of heteromorphs during the war.
As time passes, Class A becomes Third Year and focuses on their reconstruction efforts while doing Hero work. Finally, it was time for Class A's graduation ceremony, and all Third Year Students from Class A, B, and Support Course are prepared to have their diplomas ready. After receiving his diploma from Principal Nezu, Koji listens to Tenya's farewell speech about their hard work, which ends with a bang with an huge explosion caused by Katsuki and Monoma.
In the eight years following his graduation, Koji becomes the full-fledged Hero Anima and decides to be Koji's sidekick. Together, they deal with human rights issues for those with heteromorph Quirks.
His efforts are recognized worldwide, and Mezo is eventually awarded with the Imamura Peace Prize, due to devoting his efforts toward finding resolution to conflicts surrounding discrimination against mutant Quirk users and inspiring peace amid heteromorph discrimination-related issues. Koji, along with former B-class student Bondo, attends the event, applauding Mezo for receiving the award.
Meanwhile, Izuku is now a teacher at U.A., and due to his loss of One For All, Koji and his former classmates funded the creation of a mechanical armor similar to Armored All Might for Izuku. They have to pool a lot of funding from their Hero Work to help making the suit with the aid of Melissa and Mei.
Once the suit was done, All Might delivers the surprise gift for Izuku, who tears up and smiles to be able to be a hero again. When Hawks mentions traffic being backed up because of a landslide on WarStar Road and requesting Heroes who can respond, Izuku puts on his new "Armored Deku" suit and is joined by the rest of his former classmates. As they head to the landside, Koji joins the rest of his fellow Heroes of Class A.[83]
At a restaurant, the former students of Class A celebrate Shoto's new Number 2 Hero ranking on the Hero Billboard Chart JP. The classmates discuss amongst themselves the differing nature of the hero rankings nowadays, and joking around about each other's placements and their current statues as Heroes and Sidekicks. Rikido mentions his surprise everyone has been able to get together once again, which Mashirao states is due to the decreasing number of Villains every year. Fumikage remarks on the Heroes both old and new that have continued fighting all this time, thinking that eventually Heroes are headed towards extinction. Suddenly, everyone receives a notification of a criminal's Quirk causing a lot of damage, as the former classmates blast off together.
The incident is quickly resolved, as the criminal is arrested, noting that it was just a "sudden impulse". The group decide to split up for the night, with all of them going their separate ways.[84]
