Nejire Hado/Synopsis

History#

In middle school, Nejire Hado had a very curious and inquisitive personality, causing her to ask questions about her classmates' Quirks and what they could do. However, her classmates accused her of looking down on them due to her own powerful Quirk and shunned her in response. Whenever Nejire tried to learn more about others, the more they would keep their distance. As a result, Nejire became a cold and distant person who kept her emotions bottled up, even when she entered the U.A. High School.

It wasn't until Tamaki Amajiki awkwardly approached her one day, asking her what Hero she liked, that she soon befriended him, as well as his friend, Mirio Togata. These interactions with them were what allowed her to open her feelings back up again, regaining her own confidence, and let her open up to others and lead to her cheerful attitude today. It was also here that she met Yuyu Haya, and they became great friends.[1]

Over time, her and Tamaki and Mirio's skills and abilities with their Quirks made them known as The Big 3, the most powerful students at the school. Sometime after receiving her Provisional Hero License, she started working for the Dragoon Hero Ryukyu, under the hero name of Nejire-Chan.

At another point, Nejire participated in her second year Beauty Pageant during the U.A. School Festival, but was defeated by Bibimi Kenranzaki.[2]

Synopsis#

Shie Hassaikai Arc#

Nejire is first seen at the assembly where Vlad King and Hound Dog announce Katsuki and Izuku's punishment for fighting after hours in Ground Beta. She asks Mirio Togata if he knows who the students involved are, though he doesn't respond and merely becomes excited at hearing of such students.

She is later invited along with the other Big 3 to speak with Class 1-A by Eraser Head as part of their introduction to Hero Internships.[3] With Tamaki turning his back to the class because of stage fright, Nejire begins introducing herself and explains why she and the rest of the Big 3 are present. She immediately begins asking questions of the students rapidly, not allowing them time to answer before she asks more.

When Mirio challenges all of Class 1-A to face him at once, she is present and tells everyone about a student who got so frustrated that they quit wanting to become a hero, advising Mirio to be cautious so as not to have a repeat of that incident, playing with Mina's horns all the while as she recounts this tale.[4] After Mirio easily defeats Class 1-A Nejire enthusiastically offers to explain Mirio's Quirk to everyone, however, Tamaki tells her it is Mirio's turn to speak and she pouts at the latter as he explains to the class whilst apologizing to her.[5] Nejire then asks Mirio his thoughts on fighting Class 1-A and who was most interesting.

During the Internships, she helps out Ochaco and Tsuyu, recommending them to the hero she was interning with, Ryukyu. She takes out two opposing gang members with Gigantification Quirks in one move and also coordinates a Ultimate Move with the other two girls to completely quell all the villains they were facing. Ryukyu notes that Nejire's timing when going for the knockout blow has improved and praises Tsuyu and Ochaco for having such great aptitude.[6] Nejire explains what "teaming up" means to the inters and listens as Ryukyu announces they will be teaming up for a joint investigation.

When a meeting is called to help organize the Shie Hassaikai Raid, Nejire, Tamaki and Mirio are invited and run into Midoriya, Tsuyu, Ochako and Kirishima, smiling and welcoming them. Nejire notices Ryukyu and rushes to hug her teacher when she spots her.[7] During the meeting, she explains to Tsuyu and Ochaco what the "Hero Network" is, an internet service that people with a Hero License can use, which she had heard allowed Heroes to see activity reports and apply for help from other Heroes with useful Quirks throughout the country.[8]

After the meeting concludes, she and Tamaki console Mirio after he was devastated to learn that Eri was used to make the Quirk-destroying bullets and told him to look forward and do his best to save her.[9]

For several days, students wait patiently to receive any news of Eri's whereabouts. One day, late at night, the Big 3 gather after receiving a message containing information, 'on the day carry out the plan to raid the Shie Hassaikai. The next day, all the members of the raid team wake up early as the day of the operation dawns and Nejire is present with everyone else as they prepare to begin.[10] During the conference, Nejire notices Mirio excitedly shouting and she laughs at him while informing Tamaki.

As everyone gathers, Tsuyu notes that this is something they are all unfamiliar with and Nejire agrees, saying all of it was very out there whilst also pointing out that Tsuyu liked to put her finger on her chin a lot. As part of the Ryukyu group, she leads Tsuyu and Ochaco into supporting Ryukyu as she took on the Yakuza's first line of defense outside their hideout.[11]

Whilst the other teams battle inside, Nejire and the rest of Ryukyu's team fight Rikiya Katsukame of the Eight Bullets. They eventually manage to overpower him and Ryukyu orders the Police Force to restrain Rikiya while Nejire, Ochaco, and Tsuyu prepare to head after Sir Nighteye's group.

Suddenly, Ochaco and Tsuyu along with the Police Force become tired due to Rikiya inhaling their stamina, much to Ryukyu's surprise since she thought she had knocked him out. Conscious, Rikiya reveals that he took a drug earlier and it is beginning to take effect, which enhances his Quirk and allows him to absorb a target's stamina simply by inhaling.

Now larger and stronger than before, Rikiya attacks the Police Force only for Ryukyu to take them to safety. For 20 minutes Nejire is the only one able to stand and fight due to her exceptional stamina. She fights Ryikiya by herself stalling for time, taking action, she attacks Rikiya with her Quirk, which allows her to convert her own stamina into pure energy and emit shockwaves, although Rikiya manages to block her attacks.

When Rikiya's drug wears off, he demands Nejire to let him touch her, which she vehemently refuses. With the Ryukyu squad recovered, Ryukyu drags Rikiya to the crossroads and commands Ochaco to make them float and Tsuyu to help drag them towards the crossroad. With Ryukyu and Rikiya's bodies now weightless, Tsuyu drags them to the crossroad with her tongue.

At the crossroad, Ryukyu orders Nejire to blast her and Rikiya onto the ground with everything she has. Ochaco releases her Quirk's effect and Nejire blasts Ryukyu and Rikiya with her Quirk. The combined weight of Ryukyu and Rikiya along with the force of Nejire's shockwave is enough to make the crossroad collapse, causing Ryukyu's group along with Rikiya to fall down into the Eight Precepts of Death's underground where they land in the middle of the battle between Izuku and Kai Chisaki.[12] Nejire then collapses from overusing her quirk and running out of stamina.

After the operation is successful, she surveys the site for damage and tells the police taking a witness report that it is Izuku's doing as to why there is minimal damage. She is impressed when she notices that Izuku had managed to minimize damage by keeping Overhaul pinned to one spot.[13]

Remedial Course Arc#

With the beginning of October, she and the rest of the Work Studies students are allowed to go to Sir Nighteye's funeral, along with the Big Three, Toshinori, and Eraser Head. Due to what happened, they are informed that the Hero Work Studies program is postponed for the moment, so Nejire, Ochaco, and Tsuyu say goodbye to Ryukyu.[14]

U.A. School Festival Arc#

Nejire decides to compete in the Miss Con Beauty Pageant of the U.A. School Festival when she explains she had entered the pageant for the previous two years, but failed to win as well; losing out to Bibimi Kenranzaki of the Support Course in the preceding year. All the while being confused and oblivious to Izuku blushing and nervously looking at her chest. When Eri comes to visit U.A. with Mirio and Shota, she meets with Nejire as well and finds her busy in preparation for the pageant, as Tamaki posits that Nejire's loss last year was because her appeal is more on the "cute" side and she tried to compete with Bibimi in terms of "flashiness" instead.

He also mentions that later in the year Nejire, Bibimi, and Itsuka Kendo are scheduled to shoot a commercial that is expected to boost their popularity. Nejire then approaches Yuyu Haya and introduces her to Izuku and Mirio while confessing that the first time she entered the beauty pageant was at Yuyu's suggestion, but then admits that she has been having fun ever since and flashes a smile and says she is determined to win the pageant this year as it is her last chance to do so.[2] As the day of the Festival draws near, Nejire does her best to prepare for the pageant with help from Yuyu.[15]

On the day of the Festival, Nejire overhears Neito Monoma telling Itsuka that there is no doubt she will win. Nejire interjects and says that they still don't know for sure and wishes Itsuka the best of luck. At that moment, Bibimi arrives and says she is the only one blessed with flawless beauty, feeling assured of her victory,[16] with Nejire hiding her anger behind a smile.

When the Miss Con beauty pageant finally gets underway Itsuka goes first with a karate display, followed by Bibimi who brings in a tank of her own invention in the shape of her own face. After them is Nejire's turn and she begins a stunning display that plays to her strengths, using her Quirk to fly around and do a dance in mid-air, sculpting a flower made of her Wave Motion Quirk, captivating the audience. She receives the most votes and wins the beauty pageant, and is graciously acknowledged and congratulated by Bibimi.[17]

Pro Hero Arc#

As November comes to its end, Izuku is told that U.A. has been put in charge of looking after Eri, and Nejire is present with the rest of the Big 3 and does Eri's hair for her. Shota leaves Nejire in charge of her while he explains to the others about her situation.[18]

Endeavor Agency Arc#

During the second round of Work Studies, Nejire, Ochaco and Tsuyu return to Ryukyu.[19] At Ryukyu's hero office, Ochaco shows off her upgraded costume, which is met with praise by Ryukyu and others. As Nejire asks why she changed her costume, Ochaco blushes thinking back to her latching on to Izuku during the Joint Training match and says that it's a secret, disappointing Nejire. Ryukyu then holds a small welcoming party to celebrate the girls' first day back.

The next morning, the girls watch a news report about a forest fire in Kaflin that was caused by the explosion of an illegal Trigger factory. Ochaco and Tsuyu are confused at what Trigger is, so Nejire explains that it is the name of a Quirk-enhancing drug. Ryukyu later gets a team-up request from Selkie and tells her students to get ready. At the Verize Islands, Selkie greets Ryukyu and her team, Nejire notes how cute his gimmick is. Ryukyu then tells the girls to relax on the beach before the mission begins. Ochaco, Tsuyu, Nejire and Sirius have fun on the beach, improving their morale.

As the sun sets, Ochaco and Tsuyu join Selkie on the Oki Mariner while Ryukyu and Nejire take to the skies. Ryukyu and Nejire locate the smuggling ship, but their views are blocked by a massive smokescreen unleashed by a crew member. As a cargo plane containing Trigger takes off, Ryukyu and Nejire try to catch up with it, but fail as it is flying too fast for them. Ochaco manages to get on the plane and knock out the smuggler, but has trouble controlling the plane. Ryukyu fires gusts of wind to propel Nejire, who uses her Gring Wave at output 90% to slow the plane down and give Ochaco the chance to make the plane weightless. With the day saved, Ochaco and the girls relax on the beach once more.[20]

My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission#

As a member of the Ryukyu Agency, Nejire travels to France to participate in the international mission organized by the World Heroes Association to raid one of the branches that Humarise has in the world. Humarise is an anti-Quirk cult that had caused the deaths of hundreds of people by setting off a Trigger Bomb. The objectives of the mission are arrest its members and seize all the Trigger Bombs that they can find.

The France Task Force successfully storm the Paris branch, but while dozens of cultists are arrested, no Trigger Bomb is found. The same goes with the remaining branches raids, so the WHA Director orders all the teams to stay in their assigned countries. While on standby, the entire Ryukyu agency watch on the news that Izuku has been accused of a mass murder, resulting in putting him on the Otheon most wanted list. Like her teammates Ochaco and Tsuyu, Nejire also believes that Izuku is completely innocent.

Days later, Flect Turn announces that they have placed Trigger Bombs in various countries, including Paris, and that they will explode in two hours. Paris citizens are panicked and cause numerous accidents. On the Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris, while Ochaco and Tsuyu are in charge of helping the citizens, Nejire is ordered by Ryukyu to help search for the weapon. As they search, they are reported that Izuku, Katsuki, and Shoto plan to storm Humarise's main headquarters to defuse the bombs.

They manage to find the hidden bomb in a truck near the Eiffel Tower, but when Nejire and her teammates were about to remove it, they are attacked by Humarise agents, leading to many fights against the heroes. Nejire fights with all her might against the cultists, while Ochaco and Tsuyu try to throw the bomb as high as possible before it releases its lethal contents.

The heroes continue to fight until the countdown finally reaches zero, but fortunately none of the bombs explode, indicating that Izuku's group had managed to stop the detonation. After this, the heroes defeat the last remnants of Humarise, and Trigger Bombs is taken into custody by the police. Ryukyu congratulates her team for their efforts. Once the crisis is over, the entire Ryukyu Agency returns to Japan. Once at U.A., Nejire reunites up with Mirio and Tamaki.[21]

Paranormal Liberation War Arc#

The Big 3 are taking care of Eri in her room when she suddenly starts crying, saying that her horn's started to feel unusual. While Mirio and Tamaki hurry off to look for Shota, Nejire stays with Eri, hugging and comforting her. Shota arrives and erases Eri's Quirk, gently patting her on the head and telling her not to worry.[22]

The months go by until it's late March. Thanks to the police investigation and its spy Hawks, the Hero Public Safety Commission has found out the plans of the Paranormal Liberation Front and its allies. With this info, the Commission organized a large force of Pro Heroes, divided into several teams to take down the villainous organization.

A team of heroes has the mission of storming the main headquarters of the Paranormal Liberation Front, while another team lead by Endeavor will do the same at the Jaku General Hospital, where the Nomu are created. Finally, a third team, made up mainly of students and led by Burnin, will be in charge of evacuating the residents of a city near the hospital and taking them to a safe place. Nejire is in the last one. When everything is ready, the operation starts as Burnin signals the students to start evacuating the citizens.[23][24]

The evacuation of the city proceeds without any problem. Nejire is in charge of flying over the city to ensure that all citizens are being evacuated. Suddenly, the hospital and the entire area around it begin to falling apart, and the disintegration wave spreads rapidly until it reaches the city itself.[25]

Realizing that destruction does not stop, Burnin quickly orders everyone to run away as fast as possible while evacuating the civilians who are still there as best they can. Nejire uses her Wave Motion Quirk to propel multiple vehicles away from danger.[26]

As Gigantomachia starts approaching Jaku City, the Heroes were rallied up to stop the giant, while Nejire and Tenya Ida went to the site of battle with Tomura Shigaraki to help the Heroes out.[27] She manages to catch the villain off-guard and blast him with a wave of energy. She notices the beaten-up Ryukyu and decides that, together with Shoto, they will take Tomura down.[28] They unleash their Ultimate Moves on Tomura, but before they can defeat him, Gigantomachia intercepts his master and saves him from certain death.[29]

Suddenly, Best Jeanist appeared and restrained both Gigantomachia and the League. Spinner tried to wake his leader up, so he could give the giant an order, but Nejire appeared and was about to blast them off with her Quirk. However, Dabi used his Quirk on her, scorching her left side of the body and blasting her away. She was caught by Ingenium before she could hit the ground.[30]

Thankfully she recovers upon Lemillion's sudden arrival on the battlefield and continues to fight alongside the other students. She hears Katsuki announce his Hero name as "Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight" and says it sounds disturbing.[31]

Nejire continues fighting the Near High-End Nomus,[32] until "Tomura" wakes-up and uses his Radio Waves Quirk to summon all the Nomu to get him out of there. Nejire and the rest of the heroes who can still fight try to stop them, but "Tomura" manages to escape with a handful of allies.[33]

U.A. Traitor Arc#

Following the aftermath of the War, All For One escapes from Tartarus, and proceeded to break into several more maximum security prisons, liberating the inmates. Due to the chaos inflicted by Gigantomachia and the mass breakout of prisoners, the whole country entered a state of total chaos and anarchy. In addition, many Heroes were killed or called it quits in disgrace after the fall of hero society due to all the damage and chaos spreading throughout the country.

Nejire has recovered from her injuries, albeit with a much shorter hairstyle after Dabi burned it off. She joins up with Ryukyu, Tamaki, and Fat Gum in patrolling the abandoned streets, rescuing any lost civilians they come across and defeating any rogue villains in the process. She captures a giant villain, restraining him with her Quirk while scouting the area in Kansai with the three, intending to bring the civilians to Shiketsu while preparing for the upcoming battles of the Final War.[34]

Final War Arc#

Using Izuku and Yuga Aoyama as bait, they plan to lure All For One into the open at their desired location where Neito Monoma can use his Copy Quirk to copy Kurogiri's Warp Gate, which will not only allow the Heroes to catch the Villains off guard, but also allow them to separate the Villains all over Japan.

Nejire is assigned to the team to directly face Tomura Shigaraki, accompanied by Best Jeanist, Edgeshot, Mirko, Tamaki, Katsuki, and Izuku. Their plan is to warp Tomura to a floating U.A. High, to keep him contained and minimize his damage potential. Days prior to the start of the War, the team met up at Troy to discuss their plan of attack.

Best Jeanist informs everyone how Tomura's bound to strike at U.A., and they must not allow him to touch the ground, as well as making sure they are all aware in what they seek to protect. Nejire and the others presume he is talking about the civilians and collateral damage, but Jeanist clarifies he's referring to the issue of Tomura's personality, noting they would prefer to deal with the All For One persona, who seeks to dominate over living subjects, while Tomura simply wants to destroy everything.

With his strength and hatred brewing inside of him, his desire for destruction may direct itself toward the Earth itself, and states that in a world where they emerge victorious, even if they stood their ground and rose back up from dire straits, it will all be for nothing without a foundation to stand on, and reiterates what it is they must protect.[35]

After a month of hiding, All For One is successfully lured out and summons an army of villains at the desired location. However, the Heroes were able to anticipate this confrontation and so, Nejire and the remaining Heroes are teleported onto the battlefield and prepare to fight the villains. Before the fighting can start, the "Troy" defense system is activated, trapping the villains into cages long enough for the Heroes to push them all into several more Warp Gates, splitting them up.[36]

Nejire enters the portal with her team to the now floating U.A. Fortress to face off against Tomura. However, right as she and the Heroes enter their portal to the location, Izuku is thrown off course by unforeseen circumstances and ends up in another location.[37]

After they all arrive, Katsuki tells everyone of Izuku's disappearance, causing them all to worry, and Nejire stating they need to hurry and let the others know of the situation.[38] They proceed with their plan to take down Tomura, with Neito and Shota using Erasure to erase his Quirks, but the team is caught off guard when Tomura suddenly beings to sprout an endless array of fingers that decimate the battlefield, which he explains is his growth caused by the Quirk Singularity.

They all do their best to fight off and defend against the fingers, with Nejire using her Quirk to blast them away. After realizing that they can not get Neito to warp Izuku to the battlefield, as it would result in Erasure being undone and Tomura being able to use Decay through all the fingers, the team declares that they will put a stop to him now, even without One For All.[39]

Nejire and the Heroes continue to fight back against the finger hoard, blasting them with their Quirks to prevent themselves from being swallowed up by them, all to reach Tomura's main body.[40] Katsuki manages to reach him and unleash a powerful Cluster attack, however Tomura deflects most of the damage, destroying his arm and swatting the rest of the Heroes away.

Elsewhere in the rubble, Nejire and Tamaki regain their footing, with Tamaki telling her that he wants to have a proper graduation when this is all over, which she agrees. Just then, Mirio appears from inside of the fortress, saying that they'll do what they can until Izuku arrives, and will demonstrate their triple-threat power together.[41]

As Tomura continues to taunt and torture Katsuki, Nejire arrives with a new Ultimate Move to save him. She attacks Tomura with her Nejire Pike, but is forced to redirect the attack after Tomura uses Katsuki as a human shield. Nejire then watches as Tamaki attacks Tomura with his own Ultimate Move, inserting poison into his system, only for it to have no effect. She then proceeds to send an energy wave directly to Mirio, who uses this to confront Tomura head on, enhancing his punch's physical prowess.[42]

As Tomura continues to unleash his mutated finger onslaught at the Heroes, Nejire begins to fire multiple Pikes in an all-out attack to try and distract Tomura. During the altercation, Nejire is struck on both the face and takes a major slash to the torso, recalling back to her early days at U.A. when she was cold and distant to everyone, until Tamaki befriended her, leading her to open more, and how she became stronger for it.

Nejire then throws out multiple energy waves toward Tamaki, as he absorbs it alongside all the other animals he had eaten into his Ultimate Move, the Plasma Cannon.[1] However, the attack proves to have no effect on Tomura, with Nejire distraught and confused, starting to become fatigued due to overuse of her Quirk as well as her injuries.

Soon afterwards, during the battle, Katsuki is seemingly killed by Tomura after the villain dealt a heavy blow right to his chest, bursting his heart, despite the Heroes all attempting to come to his aid.[43] After hearing of Katsuki's supposed death, Nejire is visibly shaken and barely able to stand up.[44] She deliriously watches Mirko and Mirio continue to try and stop Tomura.[45]

Eventually Tomura transforms into his ultimate form, retaliating to the Heroes and causing Mirko and Tamaki to suffer major damage. In response Nejire tries to help Mirio who is still standing with a last resort attack but is warned by him to stay back. Tomura then unleashes an assault of rubble at her which causes her to fall from the sky and onto the ground. Nejire is knocked unconcious and lays on the floor bleeding out.[46] She is then carried away to safety by Mirio while a returned Izuku fights Tomura.[47] Despite heavy blows to Tomura, the villain refuses to back down, just before a swarm of Twice Doubles conjured by Himiko Toga attacks the observation deck where Shota, Neito Monoma, and Manual were stationed. They attack and dogpile on Neito, undoing the Erasure on Tomura, and as the result of this, Tomura's body released all the pent-up energy he received from constant damages, destroying the U.A. Flying Fortress. With Erasure gone, Izuku decides to tackle Tomura off the fortress, where he and Tomura can battle on the ground.[48] While Izuku and Tomura battle to the death, Nejire was taken by Mirio to safety.[49]

However, All For One, who's body was being rewound back to his prime, suddenly shows up at U.A. and destroys the fortress[50], forcing U.A to make an emergency landing in the nearby coastal city.[51] While unconscious, Katsuki has been revived thanks to Edgeshot and battle against All For One while Izuku fights against Tomura.[52] Eventually, Katsuki emerges victorious after defeating All For One who vanishes after being rewound to the point he turned into a infant before disappearing[53], and Izuku manages to defeat Tomura once and for all before the villain succumbs to his injuries and dies as his body was disintegrated into ashes.[54]

Epilogue Arc#

One week after the end of the Final War, the restoration efforts that were stalled after the Jaku Hospital Raid have picked back up at a breakneck pace, as Heroes from around the world arrived to provide support and resources in rescue and rebuilding Japan. A few weeks later, Nejire recovers from her injuries after the end of the war and returns to the partially rebuilt U.A.[55]

Weeks later, it is now June, and the third-year students at U.A. High are finally having their graduation after the end of the Final War. Tamaki attends the U.A. High Graduation along with the rest of his classmates. Present Mic, who is MC-ing the event, apologizes for the delayed graduation, and shouts for excitement and the third years enthusiastically join in.

Nejire is overjoyed when she receives her diploma from Principal Nezu and waves it to all the underclassman, much to the delight and dismay of her fans. As one of the most popular students at U.A., there are several in the student body that are sad to see her go. When she returns to her seat, her friend Yuyu runs to hug her with excitement. Tamaki asks Nejire if her injuries still hurt, and she states they do, but she is fine when she is happy, which she finds pleasantly strange. Tamaki says is thanks to Mirio who was watching over them after they were knocked out during the battle.

After all the graduates received their diplomas, Mirio is called to the stage to give a speech. Nejire listens attentively to her friend's speech, where he speaks of the great losses suffered during the war, but emphasizes the need to find positivity for the future, stressing that smiles and humor are crucial for heroes to achieve a bright one for everyone. Once he is over, Mirio bids everyone farewell in the most over the top way.[56]

Eight years later after the Final War, Nejire is now a full-fledged Hero and has risen to the top rankings in the Hero Billboard Chart JP. In her spare time, she joins her former juniors, Ochaco and Tsuyu along with her former Big 3 classmates, No. 1 Hero, Mirio and Fat Gum's Sidekick Tamaki, to assist with Ochaco's Quirk Counselling. She tells them about how the most important thing is communication, and that children may be dealing with problems, big or small, so to continue being friendly until they feel comfortable to open up to them.

Tamaki asks if it's exhausting, which Ochaco says it isn't, partially thanks to Keigo at the Hero Public Safety Commission helping to improve Quirk education negotiating with the Ministry of Education. He then asks if Ochaco gets any personal time, but before she answers an incredibly excited group of kids arrive to greet The Big 3. Lemillion riles them up by jumping in a tree, shaking his butt around and challenging the kids to "hit his peaches" with their Quirks. A nervous kid named Ooshima is then helped by Ochaco, using her Zero Gravity to allow him to hit Lemillion, who is congratulated by the hero and the kids.[57]
