Gollini Invasion

ArticleSource revision

The Gollini Invasion is an attack by the Gollini Family mafia, led by Dark Might, in his effort to become Japan's next Symbol of Peace.[1]

Prologue#

After All For One had broken out of Tartarus and led the charge in freeing prisoners from other prisons, resulting in Japan becoming a near lawless state, a small task force was created to hunt down the Jailbreakers. Among these Heroes are the members of Class 1-A, who have been split into three teams, led by Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo, and Shoto Todoroki. In the lead-up towards the Final War against the Paranormal Liberation Front, the teams head out to track down as many Jailbreakers, and rescue as many civilians, as possible, while a Counter-Force serves to observe the situations, with U.A. High School serving as the headquarters.

Meanwhile, Valdo, the leader of the Gollini Family, has gotten ahold of Anna Scervino, who possesses the Overmodification Quirk, allowing whoever is compatible to boost the power of their Quirks by an absurd amount. Using Anna's ability, he decides to christen himself as the "next All Might" and makes his way over to Japan, with the intention of "saving it" himself.[1]

The Invasion#

For the past couple days, Class 1-A has been traveling across the country in an attempt to quell the chaos, defeat any threats, and track down any Jailbreakers, especially for information regarding the whereabouts of All For One and the other Villains who escaped from the last War. The remaining Heroes are gathering their dwindling forces at U.A.

During one of these excursions, the students meet up to take a break from the combat, taking the chance to motivate each other, relax, and complain about the Villains. However, they're suddenly attacked by a group of Villains, intent on stealing one of the Heroes' armored trucks. The U.A. students, expecting the attack, fight back against the Villains, and easily defeat them. The class hands over the Villains to the police as All Might informs the students of new Villain sightings, and they split into the three groups once again, following up on the reports.[2]

While the teams are apprehending many Villains, Hawks informs them of their next assignment: apprehend a Tartarus escapee, Ginji Kurau, a dangerous Villain who can devour objects using the giant mouth in his stomach. Once the teams scramble to apprehend the Villain, things take a turn for the worse when they soon encounter the Gollini Family, as the leader of the mafia crime family reveals himself as the "next Symbol of Peace", with this physical appearance looking exactly like a young All Might.

Ginji had initially allied with the Gollini Family since he was compatible with Anna's Overmodification, but he betrayed them so he could take the woman for himself, and as the result, the Gollini Family reclaimed her and Valdo knocked him out for his betrayal. Once he has Anna back in his possession, he then begins using his Alchemy Quirk to create several cameras to announce to all of Japan that he will be the new All Might and take his mantle, saying that it's his turn.

Boosting his power with Anna's Quirk and dropping down several coins, he begins to transmutate the entire harbor into his ship, engulfing the civilians who were caught by his powers. Team 3 tries to flee with as many civilians as they can carry, but are helpless after the transformation ocean catches up to them. Teams 1 and 2, who just arrived in the area, witness the rapid expansion of the transformation. Shoto tries to block the expansion with his ice from his Quirk, but the transformation light simply phases through and consumes Team 2. Team 1 attempts to flee from the city in their truck, but they too are soon caught by the transforming light.

All Might and the Counter-Force at the U.A. Headquarters learn of the situation. Completely amazed, they witness through the headquarters' screens how the cloud of light grows larger and begins to take shape, turning into a massive All Might-themed floating fortress which Valdo dubs the Symbol of Paradise. They also learn about the Gollini Family mafia, the most dangerous crime syndicate in Italy, that even other Heroes outside the country were cautious to approach, realizing that anyone who is a target of them will be in mortal danger.

With the Symbol of Paradise now in motion, Valdo, now dubbing himself as Dark Might, has the Gollini Family touch Anna to enhance their own individual Quirks so they can begin the next move: collecting more cities to create an army of enhanced Quirk users under Deborah Gollini's Day Dream Quirk. Kamile Gollini uses his Quirk, Spatial Excursion, to begin moving the fortress, as it pushes itself forward across cities, consuming everything in their vicinity. The Counter-Force are monitoring its movement while receiving reports of many shelters being consumed by the fortress.

However, Giulio Gandini manages to infiltrate the fortress and assist Class 1-A in defeating many Villains to rescue Anna. Some of the Gollini Family members were defeated by Class 1-A who are moving against them. With their numbers dwindling after many members are defeated, Dark Might concludes that Class 1-A is strong, and they will never adhere to his rule so long as they have All Might's legacy to remember. To that end, the past must be destroyed by the new to break their spirits. Dark Might has Kamile change course from gathering cities to the U.A. Shelter, where All Might and most of the Heroes and civilians are, so he can destroy them all and become the only one standing in his ambitions of becoming the Symbol of Peace.

Counterattack#

All Might and the Counter-Force notice the fortress' change in direction, and realize it is heading right towards the school. Principal Nezu states that the U.A. Barrier is crucial for the fight against Tomura Shigaraki, and that it needs to be protected at all costs. Hence, he orders the evacuation of the refugees in the school while All Might leads the Heroes to the outskirts of the city to stage a counterattack against the Fortress. Class 1-A also learns of Dark Might's intentions and resolves to start evacuating the civilians caught by his power, while Izuku, Katsuki, Shoto, and Fumikage move ahead to defeat Dark Might. Mirio Togata infiltrates the fortress and assists Class 1-A in evacuating the civilians to the same point of entry he came from. However, Dark Might's fortress spawns monsters to stop the evacuation, so Class 1-A resolves to defend the refugees against the fortress' monsters while Mirio leads the civilians to safety.

While Class 1-A takes on the monsters and Mirio helps bring the civilians to safety, Izuku, Katsuki, Shoto, and Fumikage close in to stop Dark Might; Giulio also comes with them to provide assistance. Fumikage stays behind to defend the main entrance against the monsters while Katsuki and Shoto engage in combat against Gil Gollini and Ugo Gollini. After Izuku and Giulio defeat Bruno Gollini, they move to the upper section of the fortress to rescue Anna and defeat Dark Might.

Izuku and Giulio are unable to defeat Dark Might themselves; fortunately, Katsuki and Shoto arrive to help reinforce the team after defeating Gil and Ugo. Together, they team up to fight Dark Might. The students and Giulio have trouble dealing with this newfound increase in strength, as Dark Might almost rivals that of All Might's during his prime. Nonetheless, the trio goes for an all-out assault on Dark Might and start to overwhelm him with everything they've got. Soon enough, the trio manage to defeat Dark Might. With his defeat, his monsters begin to fall apart, finally giving victory to the Heroes and students. Mirio locates Kamile and knocks him out, which causes the fortress to start to fall from the sky, and collapse.

Unfortunately, Anna's Overmodification Quirk has already reached Quirk Singularity due to overuse, it has caused her to lose control of her Quirk. As a result, her powers consume everything in the battlefield, including the defeated Valdo. Her berserking Quirk allows the villain to have even more amplified Quirk powers, turning him into a colossal monster as the fortress reassembles itself.

Izuku, Katsuki, and Shoto go in for the final push to take down Dark Might. However, the three are nearly defeated by Dark Might's immense power until Giulio manages to get a hold of Anna and use his now enhanced Neutralization Quirk to neutralize Anna's. This also significantly decreases Dark Might's powers, allowing Izuku, Katsuki, and Shoto to stand up and fight the monstrous Dark Might. With him vulnerable, the three students attack the Villain and unleashed their most powerful moves; Shoto uses Flashfreeze Heatwave, Katsuki unleashes Howitzer Impact with Cluster at their maximum power, and Izuku finishes things off with a final Smash to deliver the decisive blow, destroying Dark Might and the entire fortress.[1]

Aftermath#

With the Gollini Family defeated, the U.A. Shelter is finally safe, and cheers erupt as everyone celebrates the Heroes and Class 1-A for their hard-fought victory. Anna recovers, and Giulio reveals to her that he was uniquely compatible with her Quirk, which overloaded his Neutralization and permanently nullified it, leaving her functionally Quirkless.

Watching them smile together again, Izuku feels a sense of peace. He recalls Nana Shimura's words: that even in moments of despair and darkness, people's hopes and dreams become the light that shines toward the new Symbol of Peace inspired by All Might. With renewed hope, he reflects that the heroes will ultimately triumph in their war against the Villains.[1]

With U.A. safe, Anna and Giulio were offered to stay at the school for the time being among the civilians, and a few days later, the remnants of the Heroes and students head out to defeat All For One and his army of Villains for the all-or-nothing Final War.[3]
