Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo & Shoto Todoroki vs. Valdo Gollini is the second battle between Deku, Dynamight, and Shoto against Dark Might of the Gollini Family, and the final battle of the Gollini Invasion.[1]
Prologue#
After Dark Might's initial defeat, an injured Giulio Gandini notices Anna Scervino unconscious on a sofa. Despite his own injuries, Giulio limps towards her to offer assistance. However, Anna's Quirk, Overmodification, spirals out of control, causing her intense pain upon awakening. The arena erupts with numerous flowers and thorny vines that lash out at Giulio and lift Anna and the sofa in the air. Deku intervenes, using Float to rescue Giulio from the danger. Giulio then requests Deku to bring him closer to Anna so he can neutralize her Quirk and save her. Despite avoiding the thorny vines, Deku struggles to maintain his grip on Giulio due to Overmodification's negative feedback loop, leading to constant headaches. Suddenly, Deku is struck by an alchemical stone pillar, leaving Giulio to fall to the ground.
Multiple beams of light erupt from the unconscious Dark Might as the crumbling fortress begins to reassemble. Stone pillars rise from the ground, lifting him into the air before some wrap around his body, transforming into mummy-like paper. The remaining pillars collapse into a sphere that engulfs him, morphing him into a towering blue monster. As he raises his arm, generating massive stone pillars visible from afar, he declares that he is not only the new Symbol of Peace, but the new world itself.
Battle#
Shoto charges toward the monstrous Dark Might, surfing on a wave of ice created with his Half-Cold Half-Hot Quirk. However, the giant monster shatters the ice and swats him aside. While airborne, Shoto regains his balance and unleashes another wave of ice, freezing Dark Might's lower half. Dynamight then joins the fight, unleashing powerful explosions that shatter the ice and blast Dark Might back. As Dark Might lands on the ground, Dynamight generates a powerful Howitzer Impact that knocks him away, followed by Shoto unleashing a fire blast that burns the villain. Dark Might, unable to get enough from his newfound strength, demands more power from Anna, and his monster form evolves to turn into a red, three-headed beast with multiple arms, generating a shockwave that blows away Dynamight and Shoto, even when the former tries to defend himself with an explosion. As the two hold on to the ground, Shoto wonders how much stronger he can become, and Dynamight looks at the unconscious Deku, pleading with his friend to be okay.
Meanwhile, Giulio climbs through the thorns and reaches the unconscious Anna, grasping her hand despite his missing right arm in an attempt to suppress her Quirk. When nothing happens, he breaks down, devastated by his inability to help her and questioning why things had to end this way, having only ever wanted Anna to live the life she deserves. Climbing onto the sofa beside her, Giulio clings to her even as Overmodification's feedback floods him with pain. As he recalls promising her as a child that he'd always be there to ease the burden of her Quirk, a surge of power flows from Overmodification. In that moment, Giulio activates Neutralization, nullifying her Quirk and finally freeing her from her suffering as the thorns around them wither away.
Deku jolts back to consciousness, One For All igniting within him as he rises for a final stand alongside his friends. To his side, Shoto and Dynamight synchronize their power, their Quirks surging with lethal intent as Shoto strikes first, unleashing a massive tidal wave of ice that races across the battlefield to engulf Dark Might’s monstrous form, only for the Villain to shatter the frozen prison and retaliate with a jagged barrage of stone pillars aimed directly at Dynamight, who mid-air activates Cluster, a rapid, staccato burst of explosions that obliterates the attack.
Seizing the momentum, Shoto and Dynamight blanket the battlefield in a relentless crossfire of searing flames and explosive blasts, overwhelming Dark Might's defenses and leaving him charred and staggered. In that opening, Deku bursts forward in a blur of green lightning, tearing through the ground in his wake as he unleashes two devastating compressed air kicks - the first shearing off Dark Might's colossal arm, the second blasting away his outer shell to reveal the man beneath. Harnessing the full power of One For All, he finishes things off by driving a crushing dropkick into the Villain, dragging him through the air and straight into the peak of his own statue, tearing through the structure at blinding speed as a cataclysmic explosion erupts behind him, the force so immense it splits the entire fortress in half.
Aftermath#
With the Gollini Family defeated, the U.A. Shelter is finally safe, and cheers erupt as everyone celebrates the Heroes and Class 1-A for their hard-fought victory. Anna recovers, and Giulio reveals to her that he was uniquely compatible with her Quirk, so much so that it overloaded his Neutralization and permanently nullified it, leaving her functionally Quirkless. He tells her that he no longer needs to protect her, now that she can no longer harm anyone, and turns to leave. But Anna stops him, saying she's glad, because now, they can finally be equals. Watching them smile together again, Deku feels a sense of peace. He recalls Nana Shimura's words: that even in moments of despair and darkness, people's hopes and dreams become the light that shines toward the new Symbol of Peace inspired by All Might. With renewed hope, he reflects that the Heroes will ultimately triumph in their war against the Villains.
