Death Arms

ArticleSynopsisSource revision

Punching Hero: Death Arms[2] is a Pro Hero.

He briefly retired due to excessive criticism from the public following the Paranormal Liberation War. However, during the Final War, he re-joined the Heroes in saving Japan.[3][4] Afterwards, Death Arms came out of retirement and resumed active duty, and eight years later he became the No. 42 Pro Hero.[5]

Appearance#

Death Arms is a very tall, muscular man of a wide build with slightly tanned skin. He has a square jaw which juts out a notable amount, small eyes and short white hair, spiked out behind his head.

In his hero costume, he wears large headband with a yellow and black-striped caution pattern, matching his thick wrist-guards and the belt around his waist, a square buckle with a triangular decoration sat in its center. He wears what looks to be a cyan-colored cardigan, which exposes his lower torso and the center of his pectorals, held onto his chest on each side by small metal nuts. His pants are dark blue, a white stripe down each side, and are slightly baggy on him, and his shoes are plain black with a simple design.

Eight years following the Final War, Death Arms has more wrinkles around his face, and his headband has several cracks and more general wear on its surface.

Personality#

Death Arms is a serious person who dislikes rash actions and behavior, as seen when he scolds Izuku Midoriya for putting himself at risk by attempting to save Katsuki Bakugo.

Despite his tough demeanor and being well-respected for his hero work, he takes criticism hard and feels that one negative comment outweighs ten positive comments. This would ultimately lead to his retirement following the Paranormal Liberation War, unable to handle the pressures of hero work, leaving him sullen and despondent.

Even so, during the Final War, Death Arms acted to save civilians from being crushed by falling debris, remarking on how his body moved by itself to save those in need. Recounting how Izuku did the very same thing when they first met, Death Arms proved that he still has the heart of a hero and with his regained confidence he was able resume fighting injustice and protecting the innocent.

Abilities#

Quirk#

Unnamed Arm Strength Quirk: Death Arms' Quirk allows him to boost up the physical brawn in his arms. He is able to lift things that are so heavy, they could normally only be moved via industrial machinery.

  • (To the Heroes) "This job's been running me ragged. I can't seem to catch a break. And what do I get for it? Rants. Doubts. Rage. Yeah, I know there's still some support for us out there, but... one loud heckler easily drowns out ten fans. I've never felt like this before. I thought I was different. Better. I'm sure we all did once. But nah, I'm no hero. Only human."[8]
  • (To himself) "I know what lies ahead we're gonna see history repeat itself. I know that, but even so it's hard to explain! My body took action all on its own!"[9]
