History#

Valdo Gollini was born into the wealthy and most dangerous crime syndicate in Europe, the Gollini Family. His father was the head of the mafia family, consisting of up to 20,000 dangerous villains. As Valdo grew up, he became increasingly power-hungry. During this time, he admired Japan's No. 1 Pro Hero, All Might, who was revered as the Symbol of Peace.

His raw strength and unstoppable power inspired Valdo to take action against his father. He confronted him at gunpoint, saying that All Might's strength defined him. His father refuted this, saying that All Might was truly defined by his heroic will to help other people. Valdo's father warned him that his hunger for power would be his downfall and that he would never be like All Might. Infuriated, Valdo shot his father multiple times, killing him, and took over as the next head of the family, which allowed him to greatly expand his crime syndicate across Europe.

After taking over, Valdo and his family became notorious in their region and continued acquiring more territory and power. The heroes in Europe could not capture them, and even other heroes outside of Europe learned about the Gollini Family and took precautious in case they ever appeared in their own countries. Soon, their existence caught All Might's attention.

Valdo's obsession with All Might grew over time, to the point of even going lengths to uses his Alchemy Quirk on himself to model his appearance after the hero's, and thus, had a great devotion to him. He extensively studied all of All Might's Ultimate Moves from his "young age" to his "golden age".

One night, in a very dark, confined room, Valdo stares at a television, watching the live-broadcast of the final battle between All Might and All For One, the leader of the League of Villains at Kamino, Yokohama in Japan. His walls are framed with many pictures of All Might from his "young age" to his "golden age"; in one of his pictures, there is a young woman with her father. The fight concludes with All Might defeating All For One with his most powerful attack, United States of Smash, leaving him victoriously standing up as people cheer him on.

Valdo also cheers in praise for All Might prevailing against the most evil person on the planet. Valdo then sees All Might pointing at the camera screen, declaring "Next, it's your turn". He interprets this message as being meant for him and becomes convinced that it is now his turn to take the mantle of the Symbol of Peace. He then declares that he will take his place and become All Might's successor.

To that end, he learned of the daughter and heir of the wealthy Scervino Family, Anna Scervino, and her Quirk, Overmodification, which can can modify and enhance Quirks to an immense degree. Valdo led an assault on the Scervino Household, where he kidnapped Anna and killed her father along with several servants. They learned that only certain compatible individuals could make use of Anna's Quirk, with anyone else being hit with a negative reaction upon touching Anna. As a result, the family of thousands was culled down to only eight main individuals, with Valdo himself being of the few compatible people.

Unbeknownst to them, Anna's butler, Giulio Gandini, survived the assault and was treated for his injuries. After replacing the missing parts with high-tech prosthetics, he aims to find Anna.[1]

Valdo led the Gollini Family to Japan,[2][3] which has entered a chaotic state of unrest as the result of the Paranormal Liberation War, the destruction left by the War, the many villains that have broken out of prisons and wreaked havoc on the streets after All For One's escape from Tartarus, and the significant decrease in heroes after many died or retired in the aftermath. With many civilians no longer trusting the authorities and heroes, they have started to arm themselves with weapons and support items to defend themselves.

To get inside the country, the Gollini Family formed an alliance with Ginji Kurau, one of the villains who escaped from Tartarus. He proved to be one of the few compatible with Anna's Quirk. However, desperate for help, Anna pleaded with Ginji and the two formed a deal; Anna would modify Ginji's Quirk, and in exchange, he would help her escape from the Gollini's captivity. Ginji ended up blindsiding Paulo Gollini and managed to escape with Anna. After discovering that the jailbreaker had double-crossed him, Valdo immediately orders his subordinates to retrieve Anna.

After getting out however, Ginji went back on his word and chose to use his modified Mad Gluttony to go on a rampage, believing that he would be unstoppable with Anna's Quirk. Fortunately, Class 1-A from the U.A. High Heroes Course are notified on Ginji's rampage and are dispatched to capture him. Team 3 of Class A, consisting of Deku, Uravity, Earphone Jack, Cellophane, Tailman, and Invisible Girl, arrived on the scene first to apprehend the villain. The fight was interrupted by Giulio, who attempted to assassinate Anna before being stopped by the arrival of the Golini family.

Bruno uses his Delay Spot Quirk to stop Giulio from killing Anna with a single shot, and recovers her just as the rest of the Gollini Family arrive in their airship. Anna tries to resist upon being taken onto the ship, but Deborah Gollini uses her Day Dream to subdue her. With Anna back in their hands, Valdo undoes his mask, revealing that he has the appearance of prime All Might, shocking everyone.

During the chaos and cofusion, Ginji Ginji takes the opportunity to escape, causing collateral damage to many buildings and civilians, causing the students to intervene to save the civilians. Giulio takes the opportunity to board the ship and continue the mission, but Bruno and Gil use their Quirks to get rid of him.

While Team 3 tries to prevent debris from crushing the civilians, Ginji flees from the scene, but Valdo intercepts him, declaring that he is angry that he tried to take Anna after discovering that he was compatible with her. An enraged Ginji charges at him but Valdo easily takes fim down by mimicking the same devastating power of All Might when he had One For All.

The punch is so powerful that when Ginji violently passes through a Footbridge, it creates a shockwave that knocks everyone present to the ground. When the dust cloud dissipates, Deku is shocked that the Jailbreaker has landed unconscious next to him. Deku is horrified seeing how the All Might impersonator brutalized the villain, and how his reckless attack endangered everyone around them.

Valdo then introduces himself to Deku, and tries to win him over by offering him a bar of chocolate, but when Deku reproaches him for what he did, Valdo arrogantly assures him that the villain got what he deserved for betraying him, and that he will be the next Symbol of Peace since he is now like All Might. Looking at him with disgust for his actions and claims, Deku does not understand what he means, so Valdo simply decides to explain his goal.

Valdo turns several of his coins into cameras and hacks into every communication network that are still functioning in the country, with everyone being shocked by his appearance, in particular the real All Might. He announces to the country that he has come to "save Japan" from their despair caused by the war and vowed that he would use his strength and power to promote justice and become the next Symbol of Peace.

His speech is interrupted by Deku, who calls him out with disgust over using violence and putting innocent civilians in danger, something the real All Might would never do. He tells him that he is not a real hero, and that all he does is taint All Might's legacy. Hearing his words, Valdo decides to prove Deku wrong by using his powers. He touches the hypnotized Anna, and his power suddenly tremendously increases as their floating ship transforms into a massive fortress, consuming everything in its path in an ocean of light. Soon, the rest of Class 1-A are caught by the light and are consumed inside of the massive fortress.

With the fortress now complete, Valdo conjures a majestic palace for him and the Gollini Family, with Anna in his possession. He makes a personal call to All Might and the Counter-Force at the U.A. Shelter, seeking All Might's blessing to become the next Symbol of Peace. Valdo is elated to meet All Might and immediately introduced himself, saying that he would be the one to succeed him. When All Might inquired about the safety of the students and civilians, Valdo merely dismissed them, saying that the "specimens" are a valuable part of his plans.

All Might is disgusted by Valdo's villainous actions, saying that he never imagined someone would twist everything he stood for so radically. He tells Valdo that his heart is filled with darkness despite his heroic look, adding that the mafia boss is the very opposite of him and a villain. While initially shocked at being called out, Valdo quickly brushed All Might's criticisms off, instead choosing to don the new alias, Dark Might.

All Might tells his evil imposter that he had already chosen a successor and that he would be defeated by the hero students he took captive. Upon learning of this, Dark Might becomes very interested in finding out who All Might's chosen successor was and seeing if the students could truly be called Heroes, arrogantly welcoming the challenge they posed to him before ending the call.

Now as Dark Might, he wants to know which student of Class 1-A is All Might's successor and decides to test them to see which one is worthy of being a challenge. Using video cameras to observe all the different biomes in the fortress, he also notices that Giulio is inside as well. He initially intends to ignore him, but Paulo volunteers to dispose of him, to make up for accidentally losing Anna earlier. Dark Might permits him to go ahead but warns Paulo that he's on his last chance.

He then instructs each of the family to have their Quirks enhanced through Anna, and with each family empowered, they can now begin their next phase. Kamile Gollini uses his Spatial Excursion Quirk to move the fortress, which starts pushing itself forward across cities, consuming everything in its vicinity.

Deborah takes the hypnotized Anna to the civilians and find out which ones are compatible with her Quirk, even if it resulted in deaths of the specimens. Learning that Class 1-A is split into teams, Dark Might went off to personally confront Team 1 consisting of Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight, Red Riot, Pinky, Tsukuyomi, Sugarman, and Anima at the night carnival, much to his baffling shock.

Inside the castle in the amusement park, Dark Might welcomes them to the flying fortress, which he dubs Symbol of Paradise, and offers them to join him on his quest to become the Symbol of Peace, but Dynamight refuses, insulting Dark Might for being an obnoxious idiot with a ridiculous costume, and the others also refused to join him. Outraged, Dark Might, who wants to test them to see if any are All Might's successors, sends them to an underground dungeon, where Simon is waiting for them with his Monster Summon Quirk to conjure multiple monsters, forcing them to fight their way out.

Meanwhile, Dark Might learns that Paulo was defeated by Deku and Giulio after the latter defeated him with Manchester Smash. He appears on a balcony on one of the walls of the place, accompanied by Kamile. Dark Might notes that Deku can use multiple Quirks, and realizes that he is probably the successor All Might mentioned.

Without bothering to answer him, Deku attacks with a kick, but Dark Might effortlessly blocks it and then defeats Deku with his Ultimate Move, Bologna Smash, punching right into Deku's face, which sends him flying into the mountain and knocking him unconscious; Giulio quickly rushes over and catches him with his grappling hook before he falls.

Looking below, Dark Might then conjures monsters from the ground to lift Paulo up as the latter begins sweating and panicking. Dark Might acts as though he's full of sorrow, telling Paulo that it pains him to do this, but tells Paulo that he believed in him and wanted him to prove himself as a reliable comrade. In a fit of anger however, Dark Might tells Paulo that he's given nothing back except utter laziness, saying that his sloth is a deadly sin and that they must be infallible like All Might was in his prime.

Terrified, Paulo begs for just one more chance, swearing that he'll never fail or disappoint him again. Dark Might contemplates sparing Paulo, as it would look good for him as the "Symbol of Peace", but ultimately replies he hopes he comes back to his side in his next life and drops his terrified lackey from an incredibly high point down into a pit he created, with Paulo screaming as he presumably falls to his death.

Dark Might and Kamile then leave, with the mafia boss telling Giulio that he looks forward to when Deku can challenge him again until he finally decides to follow him. As he walks down the corridor, Dark Might notices Deku managed to get a scratch on him with his attack, which irritates him. He fix it while saying that the boy is in strict need of re-education.

Later, he realizes that Dynamight and his team manage to find Simon by brute forcing their way through, and defeat him. After being defeated, Dark Might promptly drops Simon into a pit to his death for his failure. Through a screen, Dark Might praises the student's efforts, but claims that the game isn't over yet and summon more monsters to eliminate Team 1 completely.

Following Deborah's failure, Dark Might reluctantly spares her to keep Anna in control. He contemplates his thoughts about All Might and his indomitable fighting spirit, but states that he is no longer the legendary hero that he used to be and is now just a retired old man. Nonetheless, Valdo concludes that Class 1-A is strong, and so long as All Might lives, he will continue to inspire the citizens and Heroes in the country who will never adhere to him.

Dark Might then decides that if he can destroy the last remnants of the Heroes in the country, then everyone will have to rely on him. To that end, Dark Might has Kamile change course from gathering cities to the U.A. Shelter, where All Might and most of the Heroes and civilians are located, so he can destroy them all and become the only one standing in his ambitions of becoming the Symbol of Peace. The Counter-Force at U.A. notice the fortress' change in direction, and realize it is heading right towards the school. Endeavor leads the Heroes to the outskirts of the city to stage a counter-attack against the fortress. While inside, Dark Might announced to everyone and Class A that he will destroy All Might's alma mater to show that their future is now in his hands.

When Deku and Guillio breach into the inner gardens, they are greeted by Dark Might, with a entranced Anna at his side. The villain taunts them to rescue her. Despite Deku's warnings, Giulio rushes to save Anna, but Bruno walks in to face them.

Deku and Giulio manage to defeat Bruno, forcing Dark Might to escape with Anna to the upper floors of the fortress while Deku and Giulio pursue them. Deku and Giulio manage to climb to the level where Dark Might fled, reaching a dome that transforms before their eyes into a meadow. Giulio explains that this is due to Dark Might's Quirk, Alchemy, which allows him to create any matter using a catalyst, and used it to resemble All Might.

When Deku asks him the reason why he changed his face to look like All Might, Dark Might himself appears to answer that question, with Anna next to him sitting on a sofa. Dark Might explains that he did it to succeed All Might and become the new symbol. He then takes off his suit to reveal All Might's Silver Age costume and touches Anna to enhance his Quirk.

Both Deku and Giulio fight Dark Might and try to save Anna from his control, but the Villain gets the upper hand and easily overpowers them in battle, so Deku comes up with a plan to use Smokescreen to create a cover. Dark Might pouts at Deku resorting to "cheap tricks", saying that the young hero will disappoint him before walking into the mist, seeing Giulio run towards Anna. Realizing that Deku intends to get the drop on him, Dark Might turns behind him, clashing Deku's Detroit Smash with his own Torino Smash.

Trapped between thick cables created by Dark Might, Deku is forced to witness Anna, still hypnotized by Deborah, about to kill Giulio. Dark Might taunts Deku by telling him he needs to learn about despair and accept him as the new symbol.

However, outside, when Endeavor pierces another giant hole through the fortress with his PLUS ULTRA Prominence Burn, the vibration causes Anna to be knocked down, Deborah to stagger, and Dark Might mutters that Pro Heroes are obsolete for believing they can stop him. Deku tries to escape the iron bars, but Dark Might launches energy fists at him, burying him again under the rubble.

Following Deborah's defeat by Gullio, Anna tries to help Gullio, but Dark Might prevents her.

After defeating Ugo and Gil, Dynamight and Shoto arrive and free Deku, where the three finally fight against Dark Might. Dark Might concludes that the three are truly All Might's successors. Dynamight orders him to shut up and not dare mention All Might. Dark Might complies, declaring that actions speak louder than words, and touches Anna once more to become powerful enough to change his suit into All Might's Golden Age costume.

The hero students have trouble dealing with this newfound increase in strength, as Dark Might recites All Might's words of "you're next", claiming that it was meant to be him and mocks that All Might is a failed Symbol of Peace, enraging the three. The trio goes for an all-out assault on Dark Might and start to overwhelm him with everything they've got.

The three of them tell Dark Might that All Might wasn't just a Symbol of Peace or a hero; he was their hero, and because of All Might, he's inspired them and so many generations of heroes currently present who rise up in All Might's place, and they vow to defend the legacy of what All Might created for them.

The trio goes for an all-out assault on Dark Might and start to overwhelm him with everything they've got. During the struggle, Dynamight manages to burn off part of Dark Might's bodysuit, revealing Valdo's real face and causing him to panic excessively. Shoto tells the mafia boss that even though he looked like All Might, they all knew that he was nothing like him.

Using Faux 100% to power up, Deku launches himself at Valdo. The villain desperately tries to protect himself by creating several barriers, but Deku breaks through them, declaring that they're gonna save people with their smiles, and attacks him with his Ultimate Moves: Detroit, Texas, Wyoming, Carolina, Missouri, California, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, and finishing him off with St. Louis Smash.

Upon being defeated, Valdo has a flashback of when he impulsively killed his father after he told him his vision of All Might as strength triumphing over all was wrong, finally understanding that his father was right all along. Valdo's defeat causes the fortress to collapse after his battle.

Anna's Overmodification starts to overload. As a result, her powers consume everything on the battlefield. Valdo, still affected by Anna's Overmodification, manages to regain consciousness and uses her enhanced properties to turn himself into a colossal monster, using the fortress to repair a new body to face Shoto, Dynamight, and Deku once more.

With Valdo vulnerable following the erasure of Overmodification by Gullio, Deku, Dynamight, and Shoto attack the villain and unleash their most powerful moves; Shoto uses Flashfreeze Heatwave, Dynamight unleashes a barrage of explosions, and Deku finishes things off with a final smash to deliver the decisive blow, reducing his monstrous form to merely a fragment of its torso before obliterating that in a blow that simultaneously destroys the entire fortress. Valdo's fate following this is unknown.[1]
