Synopsis#

U.S.J. Arc#

Sekijiro and the other U.A. High School teachers arrive at the Unforeseen Simulation Joint to help Class 1-A and All Might drive off the League of Villains.[1]

U.A. Sports Festival Arc#

After the attack on the U.S.J, U.A. High School is closed for a day. Sekijiro and the U.A. faculty meet with Police Detective Naomasa Tsukauchi. The detective informs them he was unable to find anything about Tomura or his partner Kurogiri.[2]

Forest Training Camp Arc#

When Sekijiro and Class 1-B arrive at the Training Camp, Sekijiro tells his class that they have to extend their Quirks, that they should hurry because Class 1-A is already there and that he wants his Class to get the spotlight for a change. He then explains to his class that Quirks grow stronger as long as they keep on using them. Sekijiro notes that this training would be done as the students developed over time but they have to do it this way because they do not have the time. He then orders his students to join Class 1-A.[3]

Three days later, at night, Shota Aizawa goes to the facility for supplementary lessons alongside the five students that failed the test and finds Sekijiro teaching Neito Monoma. Aizawa asks him if he could put his students into a study exercise and Sekijiro does not have a problem with that since he had the same idea. They are all suddenly contacted by Mandalay, who informs them about the Vanguard Action Squad's attack and that his objective is to kidnap Katsuki Bakugo. Shota tells Sekijiro to look after the students and storms out of the building.[4] Soon some students begin to arrive who managed to escape from the attackers in time.

After hearing another telepathic message from Mandalay authorizing the students to use their Quirks to defend themselves, Eijiro, Mina and Tenya ask Vlad King to allow them to fight in order to help. However, Vlad King refuses and explains that only the students in the woods have permission to fight with quirks because they need to defend themselves.

Suddenly they hear someone approach the door. Eijiro thinks that it may be Shota but Vlad realizes that it is not him, and quickly pushes Eijiro and Mina away from the door just before it is destroyed by a blaze of blue fire. Dabi enters the classroom, but Sekijiro quickly restrains him with his Blood Control Quirk and questions him about his goals and allies.

Dabi mocks him by saying that one of their goals is to damage the image of the the image of U.A. High School with the kidnapping of Bakugo. Vlad King tries to shut him up but Shota returns and Shota returns and kicks Dabi in the face, dissolving into some kind of mud upon being destroyed. Shota reveals to Vlad that he is nothing more than a clone sent there to provoke and distract them.

Shota says he'll return to the forest while Vlad King stays to protect the students. Vlad King questions this plan but Shota explains that the villains are using doubles of their strongest member to keep the Pro Heroes occupied to disguise the fact that the villains are few in number. In the end, the villains manage to capture Katsuki and flee, leaving numerous students injured.[5]

One day after the League of Villains' attack on the training camp, Sekijiro and Shota are questioned by Naomasa Tsukauchi regarding the events that transpired at the training camp.[6]

Hideout Raid Arc#

Afterwards, Sekijiro, Shota, and Nezu appear in U.A.'s public broadcast where they apologize to society for their shortcomings. However, society still criticizes U.A. for being unable to protect the students and criticize their security measures for not ensuring the safety of the students.[7] During the press conference, Sekijiro is afraid that Shota may lose his self-control due the harsh criticism from one of the reporters, but Shota manages to stay calm and replies the critic. The three say they are working closely with the police to rescue Katsuki.[8]

That statement turned out to be more literal than expected, because thanks to an arduous investigation, the heroes and the police force had already discovered the main hideouts of the League, and raid the places at the same time. The League of Villains then realize that U.A.'s press conference was just a diversion so that they would lower their guard.[9]

It seems that the heroes have emerged victorious, but at that moment All For One intervenes and ruins the entire rescue operation, leaving many heroes badly injured.[10] In the end Katsuki manages to be rescued by Izuku, Eijiro and Tenya, but All For One uses his multiple Quirks to warp the league members to a safe place, staying behind to face All Might.[11]

Like many others, Sekijiro, Shota and Nezu watch with concern the fierce fight between All Might against All For One, encouraging the number 1 hero not to give up.[12] Finally All Might manages to defeat AFO, which is arrested and incarcerated in Tartarus, but the cost of his victory is very high, as he loses the One For All forever.[13]

Days later, Toshinori meets with Nezu alongside Sekijiro and Shota. The principal thanks Toshinori for his victory against All For One. He tells him that he will continue as a teacher despite he can no longer be a hero and the critics. Nezu reiterates that they must instill faith and confidence in heroes. Sekijiro agrees with Nezu and says that the whole incident should be enough to make everyone realize they're placing the entire burden on him all this time, and vows to nurture, raise, and protect the students more strongly than before.

Nezu decides that now is the time to implement the transition of U.A. to a boarding school. Nezu and Sekijiro will visit the parents of Class 1-B while Shota Aizawa and All Might will visit the parents of Class 1-A.[14] They manage to convince all parents to allow their children to continue at the U.A.

Provisional Hero License Exam Arc#

With only a few weeks left for the Provisional Hero License Exam, freshmen train their Quirks hard to improve them and pass the test. Wanting the students in class 1-B to also train, Sekijiro Kan and Class 1-B enter Gym Gamma, saying that now it is his turn to use the facility, but Shota replies that they still have 10 minutes to train before Class 1-B turn.

Next to Vlad is Monoma, who soon taunt Class 1-A by telling them that they will fail. Shota remarks that Class 1-A and Class 1-B will be taking the exam at different venues. Sekijiro states that the Provisional Hero License Exam is conducted every year at different locations across the country and different testing times; to avoid students from the same schools from clashing against each other.[15]

The exam takes place, and all Class 1-B students achieve their Provisional Hero Licenses.

Shie Hassaikai Arc#

The day after the Provisional Hero License Exam, all U.A. students and staff attend the opening ceremony at Ground Beta. There Nezu gives a speech about the current situation after All Might's retirement and how it will affect classes and their lifestyle. Sekijiro congratulates him when he finishes.[16]

Before the U.A. High School students leave, Sekijiro introduces Hound Dog, the U.A's lifestyle counselor, who proceeds to growl and scream incoherently into the microphone. Sekijiro returns to the microphone and interprets Hound Dog's words to the students, reminding them to live a life of moderation, mentioning a fight between two students the night before.[17]

U.A. School Festival Arc#

At U.A. High School, Sekijiro Kan comments to Shota Aizawa on his Class 1-A's band and dance performance for the U.A. School Festival, considering it to be admirable since they are doing it for the other departments of their school.[18]

Joint Training Arc#

Sekijiro and Shota decide to organize a joint training for their students that will consist of a confrontation between their respective classes. In this way, in early winter, both class 1-A and class 1-B meet at Ground Gamma. Shortly after, the homeroom teachers arrive and tell the two classes they will have a special guest: Hitoshi Shinso, who is trying to transfer to the Hero course.[19]

After their introduction, Sekijiro and Shota explain what the joint training consists of: Each class chooses lots to split into five teams of four and battle it out. Hitoshi is placed on a team with both classes, making two matches are five against four. One team will have to incapacitate four members of the other team within 20 minutes to win. Once the teams and rounds are chosen, Sekijiro decides to be the commentator for the matches.[20]

The first round takes place. Eijiro, Denki, Tsuyu, and Koji from Class 1-A against Ibara, Kosei, Hiryu, and Jurota from Class 1-B, with Hitoshi fighting on 1-A team. After the first clash between the two classes, which is resolved with two students from class 1-A and one from class 1-B captured, Sekijiro quickly proves not to be the most impartial of the commentators. Vlad's commentary takes on a very anti-Class 1-A attitude, including support from Monoma, prompting Mina, Kyoka, and Yuga to protest against him, demanding fair coverage.[21]

Despite their bad start, the round ends with the victory of class 1-A,[22] and Vlad scolds his students, telling them that the reason for their defeat was for not deciding on a team leader, being unable of choosing either Ibara or Jurota as their center. After this, Vlad and Shota head towards Toshinori and Midnight, who had come to watch the matches, and ask their opinion about Hitoshi, as the training is a test for his potential transfer into the hero course. All Might commends his performance.

The second round begins,[23] and ends with a clear victory for Class 1-B, having captured all the members of the rival team,[24] although the scale of Ground Gamma's damage is so high due to the confrontation that Vlad King scolds Itsuka and Manga for not keeping the damage at minimum. Considering this, he and Shota agree to take a break from the fighting in order to shift the field for the next battle.

When the third round is about to begin - where Shoto, Mashirao, Tenya, and Mezo face off against Pony, Sen, Juzo, and Tetsutetsu-, Vlad reminds the students to keep damage to a minimum. Right after the third set begins, Tetsutetsu begins tearing through entire structures in his search for the other team, much to Vlad's frustration.[25]

Sen is captured by Tenya and, despite his efforts to free himself, is the first to be imprisoned.[26] Even so, Vlad continued his biased comments, declaring him MVP of the round, since his efforts slow down Tenya, causing him to be late to help Shoto against Tetsutetsu and Juzo. The four students end up unable to continue fighting. The round ends in a tie when Pony imprisons Mashirao and prevents both her and her unconscious companions from being captured by Mezo.[27]

Although the result so far is a victory for class 1-A, another for class 1-B and a tie, a biased Vlad asks if they are truly evenly matched. He laughs saying that Class 1-A's only victory was thanks to Hitoshi. Eijiro and Denki call him out for phrasing things that way and proceed to boo him. Over at a distance, Midnight comments that it is ironic that Vlad King's Quirk is blood control, yet he cannot control his own hot-blooded head to which All Might adds that his passion is overflowing. Shota tells his class to cut it out and admits that Vlad King has been a better teacher than him.

The fourth round takes place[28] and this time it ends with a crushing victory for Class 1-A.[29] Vlad King expresses his disappointment in Class 1-B's failure: although Setsuna's plan was well thought out, her team lacked the flexibility of Juzo Honenuki.[30]

Then the fifth and final round takes place. Izuku, Ochaco, Mina and Minoru face against Neito, Yui, Nirengeki, Reiko and Hitoshi. During the showdown, something happens to Deku. A mysterious black power explodes out of his arm and goings on a rampage, with Izuku being unable to control it.[31] A horrified All Might tells Shota and Vlad King to cancel the match before anyone end gravely injured in the process.[32]

Fortunately, thanks to Ochaco and Hitoshi, Deku regains control of his Quirk, and the confrontation continues. Shota, Vlad King and All Might had entered Ground Beta and All Might asks if they should intervene and call off the match, but Shota says that they should keep watching.[33]

Vlad expresses shock as Shota decides to let the match go on, despite both teachers witnessing Izuku's Quirk going berserk, but Shota explains that he'll keep a close eye on Izuku just in case if he loses control of his power once again. He also says that he feels that all combatants still feel determined to fight out till their very last breath. Vlad comments that Shota cares for his students, despite having a professionally strict relationship with them.[34]

In the end, Deku's team wins the fifth round, and with it, the joint training exercise for Class 1-A. And when Midnight takes over commentating duties, the 1-A students who had been protesting Vlad King are grateful to finally have some unbiased commentary.

Hitoshi apologizes to Shota, frustrated that he didn't do a better job during his test for a possible transfer. A surprised Vlad King questions Hitoshi on how he managed to find that out, only for the latter to explain it was due to the timing and format of the exercise. Despite what Hitoshi thinks about himself, the teachers consider he has potential, and Vlad King then announces before providing feedback to the other students that Hitoshi will be joining the Hero department starting from his second year.[35][36]

The next day, Shota, Vlad and the rest of the U.A. High School teachers are shown discussing Hitoshi Shinso's graduation to the Hero Department. They decide that it will definitely be happening.[37]

Endeavor Agency Arc#

By the end of December, Vlad is in the Conference Room with other U.A. teachers discussing the requests of the Hero Public Safety Commission. Vlad can't help but be surprised that the Commission demand that all students from all hero high schools to undergo practical field training, restarting the Hero Work-Studies.[38]

Paranormal Liberation War Arc#

During the assault on the Paranormal Liberation Front, Vlad King is assigned to take down one of the secondary hideouts at the same time as the main operation. Most of his students are assigned to the Backup team for the Gunga Mountain Villa Raid, but some of them, like Neito and Pony, join him as logistical support.[39]

My Hero Academia: You're Next#

During Class 1-A's excursions to combat and apprehend the Jailbreakers and villains running amok, they are suddenly captured by the Gollini Family Mafia, consisting of Bruno, Kamile, Deborah, Paulo, Simon, Ugo, Gi, and their leader, Valdo Gollini. Vlad King was at the U.A. headquarters when Valdo publicly broadcast his announcement to the country that he has come to "save Japan" from their despair caused by the war and vows that he will use his strength and power to promote justice and become the next Symbol of Peace in honor of All Might's god-like powers.

Valdo touches the hypnotized woman, Anna Scervino, and suddenly, his powers tremendously increase as he uses his Quirk to transform their floating ship into a massive fortress, consuming everything in its path in an ocean of light. Class 1-A witness the rapid expansion of the transformation just before they are consumed by it.

All Might hurries back to U.A. to learn of the situation, seeing that the ship has consumed the class and any civilian evacuees caught by the light. He meets Hawks and Best Jeanist, and they identify the group as the Gollini Family Mafia, the most dangerous crime syndicate in Europe that even other Heroes outside the country were cautious to approach.

While keeping track of the fortress' movement, Dark Might decides to change course because so long as people remember All Might's legacy, he will continue to inspire the next generation. He decides to destroy that legacy by annihilating the remnants of the Heroes in U.A. Toshinori and the Counter-Force notice the fortress' change in direction, and realize it is heading right towards the school. Principal Nezu states that the U.A. Barrier is essential for their plan to defeat Tomura Shigaraki and must be protected at all costs. Hence, he ordered the evacuation of the refugees.

Vlad King and several faculty members stay behind while All Might and the Heroes head to the outskirts of the city to stage a counterattack against the fortress. Endeavor fires a full blast of his Prominence Burn, but the Heroes learn that the fortress repairs itself from any external damages they inflict, which means they can only stall time for Class 1-A to do their jobs.

Mirio, who quickly infiltrated the fortress with his Permeation, helps direct everyone toward the exit. He signals the Heroes outside of the civilians' location, so Endeavor unleashes Prominence Burn - Maximum Fire and Flare Circle to make a hole large enough for civilians to fall through, with all the Heroes waiting outside to catch and bring them to safety. Best Jeanist uses his Quirk to capture the civilians falling from the fortress.

Once the civilians are safe, Endeavor makes a hole large enough for many Heroes to move inside. As the fortress comes closer to U.A., it starts to collapse after Izuku, Katsuki, and Shoto defeat Dark Might; in conjunction, Mirio defeats Kamile, causing the fortress to fall from the sky.

Toshinori was proud of his students and the Heroes for defeating the villains, but suddenly, the fortress starts to repair itself as Anna's Quirk: Overmodification, goes berserk, causing her to consume everything in the battlefield, including Dark Might. Still affected by Anna's Overmodification, Dark Might regains consciousness and uses her enhanced properties to turn himself into a colossal monster, using the fortress to repair a new body. While Izuku, Shoto and Katsuki fight back against Dark Might, Giulio manages to touch her, and thanks to Anna's Overmodification, his own Neutralization Quirk becomes greatly enhanced, allowing him to overcome his limits and then use it on Anna. With Dark Might vulnerable, Izuku, Katsuki, and Shoto, attack the Villain and unleash their most powerful moves, destroying Dark Might and the entire fortress.

With the Gollini Family defeated, the U.A. Shelter is safe, and everyone cheers on the Heroes and Class 1-A for their valiant victory.[40]

Final War Arc#

In the aftermath of the Paranormal Liberation War, All For One has escaped from Tartarus, and proceeded to break into several more maximum security prisons, liberating the inmates. Due to the chaos inflicted by Gigantomachia and the mass breakout of prisoners, the whole country entered a state of total chaos and anarchy. In addition, many heroes resigned and called it quits because of the massive criticism of their work, and the destruction spreading unchecked.

Vlad was one of the U.A. teachers in charge of the now fortified U.A. school's defenses as the whole campus was turned into an evacuee shelter for the civilians escaping the increasing chaos and anarchy throughout the country. With the dwindling numbers of heroes being available, Shota came forward with a plan to lure out All For One and any more villains still left after the War. In order for the plan to work, they need Kurogiri's Quirk, Warp Gate, to work for them. Shota and Vlad go to Central Hospital with Neito and inform him of a special request from All Might, asking if he can Copy it for them.

Neito asks if they're serious about him being able to copy and master the Quirk in a few days, with Shota apologizing that they've been unable to reach him, unsure if he is Kurogiri or Oboro Shirakumo currently. He also adds that his Erasure is all but useless with just one eye, meaning he'll be sidelined in the battle. Neito reflects on how he heard that during the Jaku City incident, it would've been a complete massacre if it wasn't for Shota.

Neito thinks about how he's been told his whole life that he can't become a Hero with his Quirk, and that he's just a supporting character, however Vlad King reassures him, as this plan is one that would never work without everyone's help: there is no such thing as a side player, and that he has always been a star.[41]

Shortly afterward, Shota Aizawa has gained control over "Kurogiri" and is gathering up all the Heroes to provide reinforcements for the final remaining battles. Realizing they need all the help they can get, and learning they'll be able to instantly arrive on the battlefield, Vlad King and some of his 1B students volunteers to teleport to Mt. Fuji where Izuku and Tomura Shigaraki are currently battling. Vlad King and some of his 1B students have also been teleported to the battlefield so they can help Izuku defeat "All For One". With all the Heroes assembled, they declare "We are here!"[42]

As Izuku rushes forward, "All For One" unleashed a horde of Quirks, blasting away every Hero who tries to stop him, but they keep on countering against his attacks. Vlad King laments that nothing's hitting because he's too tough, and Camie points out that unlike last time, he's not falling for her illusions. Shota then calls out to the Heroes through their comms, telling them to help Izuku carve a straight path to Tomura.[43]
