Yui Kodai, also known as Rule, was a student in Class 1-B at U.A. High School, training to become a Pro Hero.
Eight years after the Final War, Yui has graduated from U.A. and becomes a Pro Hero.
Appearance#
Yui is a young girl with shoulder-length, bob-shaped hair, bangs that are side-swept to her right, with shorter strands hanging above her eyes. She has fair skin, an athletic build, and slightly narrow cerulean eyes, and she's usually seen wearing a neutral expression on her face.
Her Hero Costume consists of a simple red bodysuit with a white-collar trim, a matching ”V” pattern running over her chest and around her upper arms, which also includes a short white skirt with a red design at the front, dipping so it follows the one in her chest. Yui wears white vambraces with yellow accents and a hat that resembles the front of a baseball cap and a white strap in the back, colored red with white U-shaped lines around the sides and two yellow dots on the top, with a metal piece resembling a fin attached at the back of the strap around her head.
She has a grey oval-shaped gemstone on her collar, a belt at her waist with a yellow buckle and straps around her shoulders, each adorned with a small pouch containing the various nuts, bolts, and all of the other small metal pieces she likes to use with her Quirk.
Personality#
Yui is a quiet girl who rarely expresses emotions; some classmates even consider her a kūdere. Despite her silent demeanor, Yui has shown to care for her classmates, most prominently during the Forest Training Camp Arc, when she looks after Juzo Honenuki and Ibara Shiozaki after they get knocked unconscious by Mustard's poisonous gas.[3]
Although she rarely talks and has no expression, Yui isn't moody. When she's happy, she says "Mm!" and when she eats her favorite food, tomatoes, she says "MM!"[4]
Abilities#
Overall Abilities: While Yui doesn't have direct combat efficiency, she can compensate with her excellent handling of her support-type Quirk, Size. Yui often enlarges objects that can act as additional weaponry for her allies or blindside enemies by throwing small or shrunken items before increasing their size. During the final round of the Joint Training Battle, Yui displayed great camaraderie with her classmates Nirengeki Shoda and Reiko Yanagi; Yui enlarged objects that were telekinetically controlled by Reiko and force-heightened by Nirengeki. Despite her group having technical superpowers that worked in concert with one another, Yui was swiftly defeated by Ochaco Uraraka. In the Final War, Yui and Reiko proved pivotal in aiding Mt. Lady to subdue a re-awakened Gigantomachia by supplying the giant Lurker with enlarged levitating weapons. This collaboration was maintained up to a confrontation with All For One until the Symbol of Evil eventually overpowered the group of Heroes.
Quirk#
Size: Yui's Quirk grants her the ability to alter the size of any inanimate object that she touches. She can return objects to their original size by pressing her fingertips together.[5]

Trivia#
- Her concept is derived from Ochaco's prototype appearance with a similar name and Quirk.
- Her name contains the kanji for "small", "big", and "ordinary".
- Yui's rankings on the Popularity Polls are as following:
- Ranked 118th place in the 4th Popularity Poll.
- The crest on the hat of Yui's hero costume resembles Ultraseven's Eye Slugger. Ultraseven is known for changing in size, which is the same as the effect Yui's Quirk has.
- Her hero costume's color scheme of largely red with silver streaks seems to further this connection. In addition, said costume has what appears to be a homage to the Color Timer, a special organ many Ultras have that can be found either on the sternum or on/around the sternoclavicular joint.
- According to Yui's Ultra Analysis profile:
- During Class 1-B's play in the School Festival, on top of playing Juliet, she used her Quirk to move props around the stage.
- Like in middle school, she's incredibly popular with the boys at U.A. and is considered the most attractive first-year in the Hero course.
- Her personality describes her as having "nerves of steel?"
- According to Yui's Volume 22 profile:
- Yui was unaware that a group of boys formed a fan club for her during her middle school years, even after she graduated.
- Yui likes matryoshka dolls.
- Yui's English voice actress, Madeleine Morris, also voices Komari Ikoma.
