Meek Spirits is the three hundred and eighty-third chapter of Kohei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia.
Summary#
At the Jaku Hospital Ruins, shortly after Shoto's initial defeat of Dabi, the Villains start to gain the upperhand. Using their Quirks to float through the air to avoid the Heroes, they activate an ultra high frequency emitter to broadcast All For One's voice in order to re-awaken Gigantomachia, which thanks to his Dog Quirk he will be able to hear no matter what. Mt. Lady attempts to stop them, using a gigantified wrench created by Rule, but it proves too late and Gigantomachia breaks free of the containment facility.
Evading the impending destruction, Red Riot thinks about how at the beginning of their plan they had warped Hitoshi to their location without the Villains realizing, and he has been hiding ever since in case of an emergency. He runs toward Hitoshi's hiding spot, telling him to brainwash Gigantomachia, however, he is shocked to find him currently being absorbed by the Sludge Villain. He gleefully proclaims that with Gigantomachia awake they win so he didn't have to put up a fight and just hide, discovering Hitoshi and believing he'll be a better hiding spot than "that kid" from last time.
The Liberation soldier declares that the weak are meant to suffer, might makes right, and that today begins their age of liberation. Gigantomachia attacks Mt. Lady, asking where his master is, when he is suddenly attacked by "Acidman: Alma", a solution of Acid which directly pierces through Gigantomachia's hide, courtesy of Pinky. She thinks about how she wasn't able to make it work last time, with so many people dying and everything being destroyed, but using Katsuki and Shoto's training methods, she declares she does not want to fail to protect what she cares about anymore.
With her horns elongated, Pinky uses her Acid to directly attack the Sludge Villain, causing it to mix with his Sludge, forcing him to break free and try to escape. They call out for him to wait, and he responds back, only to be effected by Hitoshi's Brainwashing, halting him in place. Pinky states that Mezo never gave into revenge, she loved Midnight's classes, and that she knows things all about fear because she is weak, which makes her want to get close to people, believing that is what defines everyone, for both them and even the Villains too.
The Liberation soldier then thinks about Re-Destro calling them one and the same, before saying that no matter what their voice won't reach Gigantomachia. Before he can attack Mt. Lady again, Hitoshi uses his Capturing Weapon to swing on top of Gigantomachia, calling out to the beast mimicking All For One's voice, causing him to respond, and putting him under his control. Hitoshi commands him to attack everyone in the air, leading him to swipe all the Villains away. Pinky starts to pass out due to being dehydrated, as she says she and Red Riot are now even, while he states she never owed him anything, as she has always been his hero.
With Gigantomachia under their control, and all the Villains defeated, the Heroes prepare to restrain them all for transportation. Just then, Mt. Lady receives word of All For One's current regenerating status, seeking their assistance. In the present, Naomasa reflects on the dangerous gamble they can't afford to lose, throwing everything at their threat as the Gunga and Jaku teams put their all into battling All For One, who struggles to keep them contained, as several helicopters approach in the distance.
Chapter Notes#
- The Paranormal Liberation Front uses a recording device with All For One's voice to awaken Gigantomachia, who breaks free from his containment.
- Red Riot seeks out Hitoshi's help, who they warped there in case of an emergency, only to find him being absorbed by the Sludge Villain.
- Pinky undergoes a transformation, using her Quirk to create an Acid piercing shot powerful enough to harm Gigantomachia, as well as force the Sludge Villain to break free from Hitoshi.
- Her new Ultimate Move, Acidman: Alma, using training techniques from Katsuki and Shoto.
- Hitoshi copies All For One's voice, allowing him to brainwash the beast to attack the rest of the remaining threats.
- The Jaku team then heads to Gunga to assist them in dealing with All For One.
