Gigantification[1] is the Quirk used by Yu Takeyama, Gigantomachia, Enigma, and the unnamed Giant Villain.
Description#
Gigantification allows its user to drastically increase their size to gigantic levels.
While gigantified, Yu can easily subdue smaller targets and fight similarly-sized foes on equal footing. The extra mass also grants her enough strength to destroy buildings and other structures with ease.
Gigantomachia's version of the Quirk allows him to grow whenever he is agitated or excited. Thanks to his combination of other Quirks, he is able to keep Gigantification activated indefinitely.[2]
Enigma's version allows her to increase her body mass, turning herself into a blob-like form in the process. This blob form can grow larger than a residential building and is rubber-like in nature, allowing her to stretch and contract, as well as protect her from attacks. She can also create smaller clones from her giant form and use them as drones.
Weaknesses#
Yu's Gigantification's limit is 2062 centimeters (67'8"),[3] with Yu being unable to assume any height in-between her normal and maximum ones. Due to her massive size after transforming, she needs a minimum of space in order to move properly, making the Quirk impractical in small or enclosed spaces.[1]
When frustrated or angry, Yu may accidentally activate Gigantification, implying that she still doesn't have full control over her Quirk.
Gigantomachia's Gigantification limit is known to be at least 2,500 centimeters (82'),[4] however, he can grow to any size in-between.
The Giant Villain's Gigantification limit is much lower than Yu's, though it's unknown if his version of the Quirk has any drawbacks.
Usage#
Yu specializes in fighting giant Villains, since her Quirk lets her confront said Villains evenly.
Yu uses Gigantification rather recklessly, pulling stunts in giant-form that often lead to high amounts of property damage. Because of this, Yu is constantly plagued by financial debts, although she refuses to act outside of the city for popularity reasons.
Gigantomachia uses this Quirk to constantly maintain a large intimidating presence, as well as grow even more in battle to easily dispatch his enemies using his combined brute strength and size. He can also be used as a means of transportation in this state, as seen when the Lieutenants of the Paranormal Liberation Front were travelling on him towards Jaku City, and later during the Final War when the Heroes used the brainwashed Machia to travel.
Enigma uses her Quirk to help Team Idaten by expanding and scouting.
Named Ultimate Moves#
Canyon Cannon: While in her giant form, Yu performs a flying kick.[1]
Titan Cliff: Yu grows into her giant form and headbutts the enemy. She uses this move to intercept Atsuhiro Sako.[5]
Trivia#
- Gigantification is the first Quirk to receive a name in the main series.
- It is also the first case of the same Quirk belonging to more than one person at a time.
