Rivet Stab

ArticleSource revision

Rivet Stab is a Quirk, that was stolen from an unknown person, used by All For One and later by Tomura Shigaraki.[1]

Description#

Rivet Stab allows its user to generate black tendrils that have red prominent cracked lines that extend from the users' fingers,[2] although they can also emerge from other parts of the body such as the spine,[3] or palm of the hand.[4]

The tendrils can easily pierce bodies, first seen with Tomura Shigaraki, who used this to pierce Endeavor after being charred by his Prominence Burn, and Katsuki Bakugo, who pushed the intended target, Izuku Midoriya, out of the way in time.[5]

The tendrils can also effortlessly slice and pierce buildings, and when extended, they appear capable of being generated repeatedly, spreading out like a mesh, web, or creating a vine of Rivet Stabs.[6]

Usage#

Generally, Rivet Stab is used to attack, although All For One also combines it with Forced Quirk Activation to activate the Quirks of other people who are at a certain distance away from him.[2] In this instance, the tendrils didn't injure the target, implying that it can be decided by the user if whether or not they cause harm. The tendrils are also capable of being destroyed, as shown when Izuku tore through them with a great intensity.[7]

All For One also combines it with an unnamed Mouth Quirk, generating a trio of gnarly heads connected by "necks" made of the Quirk, as well as an enormous, club-shaped mass of Rivet Stabs. He then uses the same combination again, forming two massive vines of Rivet Stab tendrils with gargantuan heads sprouting from him. To conserve energy while facing the Armored All Might during his battle with All Might, All For One sends a mesh of tendrils into the walls and out at the former Symbol of Peace, who barely manages to dodge and escape, but still uses them to tear off the tip of the suit's "Tailman" attachment. He sends out a web to slice apart the suit and knock him away as he crawls out of the blast zone of the "Can't Stop Twinkling" attachment.[8]

Tomura then uses it in synch with Search to accurately pin down Deku's location and hits him with Rivet Stab.[4]

Trivia#

  • Rivet Stab is noticeably similar to Blackwhip. Both Quirks generate tendrils from the user's body, typically from the arms and hands, but they can also emerge from areas like the back, spine, or other parts of the body. The main difference is that Blackwhip produces energy tendrils and is classified as an Emitter-type, while Rivet Stab creates black tendrils that extend directly from the body and is a Transformation-type.
