Hercules[1] is a car with an onboard A.I used by Toshinori Yagi.[2]
Description#
The Hercules is pitch black, resembling a supercar, and it is shown to be incredibly durable when it survived a point-blank grenade explosion, with Toshinori noting that any other car would have been blown to bits.
Hercules was owned by Toshinori and he drove it to follow Izuku Midoriya in his search for Tomura Shigaraki.[3] During one rainy night, Toshinori was ambushed by two Villains who threw a grenade at him,[4] though Toshinori was unscathed thanks to the car enduring the blast.
The Villains attacked again and Hercules was wrecked when two propelled spears pierced through its armored glass, forcing Toshinori to jump out of the moving vehicle at high speeds and dive into a roll as Hercules reeled towards a wall and crashed.[1] It was later revealed that Hercules was still intact and fit to drive.[5] The car has also shown the ability to deploy several support items,[6] and equipped with cameras and broadcasting capabilities.[7]
Hercules's A.I. shares a connection to the Armored All Might, which Toshinori utilizes in his final battle against All For One. The car is completely destroyed, alongside the rest of the suit, by the conclusion of the fight when it defends Toshinori from a devastating attack.[8]
Eight years after the Final War, Hercules was rebuilt and is still driven by Toshinori. He uses it to reunite Izuku with his former classmates of Class 1-A after giving him his new armored suit to return to heroics.[9]
Trivia#
- The car is named after Hercules, the Roman god of strength and heroes.
- Hercules resembles the Batmobile from the Batman franchise.
- Mirai Shida, the Japanese voice actress of Melissa Shield, provides the Japanese voice of the A.I. within Hercules, per the suggestion of Kohei Horikoshi. The voice was also directed to resemble Melissa's, as she played a significant role in developing the support equipment All Might uses in the Final Act Saga.[10]
- Melissa's English voice actress, Erica Mendez, would also proceed to voice Hercules in the English dub.
