Gigantomachia vs. Meta Liberation Army is a battle that took place during the Revival Celebration featuring soldiers of the Meta Liberation Army attempting to stop Gigantomachia as he races towards Tomura Shigaraki.
Prologue#
After receiving Re-Destro’s invitation to Deika City, Tomura and the League of Villains came up with a plan to defeat their new enemy and tire out Gigantomachia enough for them to tame him at the same time. By luring him over to Daika City while Tomura is there, Gigantomachia will be able to destroy everyone in his path, and he’s sure to be worn down enough from fighting for the League to finally defeat him.[1]
Doctor Ujiko warps the League over to Deika City, where they each fiercely battles the newly revived Meta Liberation Army while waiting for Gigantomachia to wake up from his sleep. The Doctor knows that letting Tomura and the League die here wouldn’t be what All For One wanted, so he wakes the sleeping giant up with a recording of All For One’s voice. After waking up, Gigantomachia is able to sniff out Tomura’s location and begins rushing over to Deika City.[2]
Battle#
As Tomura is fighting Re-Destro, the latter gets a phone call from Skeptic, who frantically warns him of the hulking beast coming their way.[3] The Liberation Army tries fighting back against him, but nobody can even get the monster’s attention. Twice and his doubles try to encourage the army to not hold back, but the real Twice realizes he’s heading right for Tomura, and the doubles pick up him, the unconscious Himiko Toga and her double, and rush over to Tomura’s location so that they can get the League back together.[4]
Mr. Compress tells Dabi to finish his fight with Geten so they too can help Tomura, but the Ice user already flings himself away to try and stop the monster. Compress says it’s early for the monster to wake, and they wouldn’t stand a chance in the state they’re in now. He radios the Doctor to warp them away, but he says that warping causes Johnny to get tonsillitis with every warp. Compress doesn’t believe him and asks if the doctor is okay with Tomura dying, and he says that Tomura must be pushed into a corner in order to become All For One’s successor. Gigantomachia continues rampaging through the city, as Geten rushes to try to stop him, thinking back to Re-Destro saying he was central to the army’s success, and unleashes some ice dragons against him, but the giant simply swats him away by throwing some debris at him. Trumpet uses Incite and encourages his followers to protect the grand commander, as he drives his party van towards the battle, with Spinner just barely managing to latch on as it races forward.
Machia rushes over to Tomura, but freezes as he feels a trembling happening.[5] Tomura touches the ground beneath him and unleashes a wave of decay that begins to destroy Deika City. Machia and the Liberation Army are able to stay just barely out of reach of the impending destruction touching their feet. The Decay wave reaches far throughout the rest of the city, destroying countless other building, as Gigantomachia watches in awe at the destruction the successor causes.
Aftermath#
As the smoke clears, The Meta Liberation army makes their way to the site of the central tower, which has now been turned into little more than a huge crater. Before Trumpet can encourage the people to to save Re-Destro, who had just cut off his own legs before they could get decayed, Tomura glares at the army and freezes them in their place. Re-Destro tells his people to surrender, and acknowledges that Tomura is the embodiment of freedom that Destro aspired towards. He relinquishes control of the Meta Liberation Army to Tomura Shigaraki, as Gigantomachia finally acknowledges him as All For One's true successor.[6]
