Shoto Todoroki Rising is the three hundred and ninetieth chapter of Kohei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia.
Summary#
As Ingenium's Engine begins to reach its limit, he tells Shoto it is as far as he can take him, which Shoto thanks him for. Utilizing Flashfire Fist: Phosphor, the two combine their abilities for one final burst of speed, as the Counter-Force looks on in awe as they witness them travelling faster than a fighter jet, noticing that Shoto's generating ice to minimize their drag, while heating the air in front to reduce friction. Naomasa anxiously watches, thinking about All Might's words of them being their only hope, and how he is one hell of a teacher.
Ingenium's Engine finally gives out, causing him to crash, but is still able to yell out to Shoto, thanking him for helping him become who he wants to be, so he needs to make it happen for him too. Shoto is flung forward, and begins to run toward the fiery inferno. He thinks back to a letter he wrote to his mother during school, where he explains in order to reach his classmates' level, he is making an effort to speak with them daily, and while it sometimes leads to conflict, it has lead to a better understanding of how they feel. He wants to be like his friends that get angry and cry, not just for themselves but for the sake of others, and that is how he wants to be too.
Shoto enters the vicinity where the rest of his family is trying to contain Dabi, just as he is on the verge of exploding. As the two screaming brothers look at each other, both thinking about their respective origins, they each wonder if they only butted heads sooner, with Shoto thinking there are still arguments he wants to have and things he wants to say. Releasing all of his power, Shoto unleashes Great Glacial Aegir, completely dousing the inferno in his ice, as everyone viewing the broadcasts and watching nearby react in relief, as the fire begins to dissipate and burn out. Shoto attempts to recover, speaking to his family members, while looking down at the crisped and partially frozen Dabi. He states that it is good they were there because his Great Glacial Aegir might not have been enough to stop Dabi from imploding, since Dabi's Blueflames had been increasingly getting hotter. As he begins freezing from the inside out, Dabi starts to vent to everyone, saying that everyone in their family, including himself, should just die. Natsuo wonders what comes next, as all that awaits for them now is pure hell, while Endeavor crawls toward his son, apologizing for not going to Sekoto Peak. Dabi responds that he hates him and his family, and Endeavor tells his son to let him have it, but asks for just a moment to apologize to Rei, Fuyumi, Natsuo, and Shoto for everything as well.
Meanwhile, over at the battle with the Doubles, Himiko sees Dabi's flames starting to go out, thinking about Dabi's words to her and wondering if he was able to smile. Uravity, who is being pummelled by more Doubles, prepares to face her once again.
