Synopsis#
U.A. Sports Festival Arc#
Nirengeki participates in the Obstacle Race and makes it to 33rd place.[1] Then he, Mashirao Ojiro, and Yuga Aoyama become brainwashed by Hitoshi Shinso in the Human Cavalry Battle, so Hitoshi's team is formed. Later, Hitoshi's team comes in 3rd place.[2]
Before the battle tournament, Nirengeki forfeits the tournament alongside Mashirao because he did not win consciously.[3]
Forest Training Camp Arc#
When Class 1-B arrives at the training camp, Homeroom teacher Sekijiro Kan explains they will be extending their Quirks. The more they use their quirks, the stronger they will become by breaking their limits. When Class 1-B witnesses Class 1-A's intense training, the Wild, Wild Pussycats appear to explain that they will be there to help and guide them in their training. During the following days, Jurota trains under Tiger's supervision.[4]
On the night of the third day, Class 1-B acts as the scaring group during the test of courage exercise. However, that night the Vanguard Action Squad also attacks. Many of his classmates are knocked unconscious by Mustard's gas,[5] being rescued later by Shota during the aftermath of the Vanguard Action Squad Invasion. Nirengeki is one of the students who wasn't knocked out but was injured instead.[6]
Shie Hassaikai Arc#
Neito Monoma reveals that all of Class 1-B has passed the Provisional Hero License Exam.[7]
U.A. School Festival Arc#
Like the rest of his classmates, Nirengeki participates in Class 1-B's original play for the U.A. School Festival: "Romeo, Juliet and the Prisoner of Azkaban: The Return of the Kings!".[8]
Joint Training Arc#
Nirengeki, along with the rest of Class 1-B is pitted against Class 1-A as part of the Joint Training Battle. He is placed in the fifth round of match-ups after drawing lots. Nirengeki ends up in team 5-B with Yui Kodai, Reiko Yanagi, and Neito Monoma against Izuku Midoriya, Ochaco Uraraka, Mina Ashido, and Minoru Mineta.
Hitoshi Shinso from Class 1-C is later put onto their team. When Neito is quick in trying to befriend Hitoshi so his team can destroy Class 1-A, Nirengeki comments on how Neito takes things too far, so he asks Hitoshi to ignore his outlandish personality.[9] As the matches go on, Nirengeki and his teammates watch Neito with exasperation as he shows further signs of insanity.[10]
After the fourth round, Ningereki and his team discuss the strategy to use against Izuku's team. He comments that Team 5-B should have a strategic plan akin to that of Setsuna's, suggesting that they should conceal themselves in hopes of launching a series of coordinated attacks. When Reiko highlights that Izuku is the main threat, Class 1-B decides that Izuku is their top priority, with Hitoshi and Neito combining their powers to defeat him while the other Ningereki, Reiko, and Yui face Izuku's teammates.[11] Before starting the fight, he allows Neito to copy his Quirk.
The fifth round of the Joint Training Battle commences, Class 1-B put their plan in motion. Yui and Reiko combine their Poltergeist and Size to attacks Ochaco, Mina, and Minoru with enlarged objects while he conceals himself and tries to figure out the readings on his scouter. He later assists Yui Kodai and Reiko Yanagi with their assault on Class 1-A. When Ochaco deflects an onslaught of projectiles, but Nirengeki uses his Twin Impact Quirk to add a second wave to the barrage. Class 1-B's attack has helped Nirengeki get a rough idea of Class 1-A's location, so he, Reiko, and Yui continue hiding together to prepare their next attack.[12]
Class 1-B's plan gets interrupted when Izuku suddenly loses control of his Quirk, unleashing black tendrils that destroy multiple sections of the battlefield. Nirengeki and his team watches in shock as Izuku rampages across the battlefield.[13] Fortunately, Hitoshi and Ochaco manage to stop Izuku's out-of-control Quirk, and despite Izuku's chaotic outburst, all of the students are still eager to win the fight, gathering at the same point.[14]
Mina uses her Super Move: Acid Shot, spraying out multiple shots of acid straight towards the opposing team. Yui and Nirengeki struggle to withstand this long-ranged attack. Nirengeki then dashes forward and tosses a circular handle, triggering his Quirk while doing so, the handle immediately homing in on Mina, who appears to be caught off-guard. However, Minoru quickly protects her with his Grape Buckler Super Move.
And as planned, Minoru ends up bumping into Mina's breasts, shocking and disgusting her so she throws the pervert back at 1-B using her Acid Layback. Minoru bounces off his own balls for a Grape-Pinky Combo Mineta Bounce attack. Class 1-B struggles to withstand Minoru's speed as he bounces around the battlefield.[15] Despite this, Nirengeki subdues Minoru with a strong punch to his gut after reading his moves, and Reiko follows up with a metal rain attack on Mina.
Class 1-B begins to gain momentum, but the tables are turned quickly. Izuku captures Hitoshi, and Ochaco manages to lock up Neito and returns to help her teammates. She karate chops Reiko, knocking her out, and pushes Yui into a trap made of Minoru's Pop Off balls.
Nirengeki calls out to his teammates in dismay, which gives Mina an opening to uppercut him to save Minoru. Class 1-A’s team manages to turn the battle around as soon Nirengeki, Reiko and Hitoshi have soon joined Neito in the cell.[16]
The Joint Training Battle ends with victory for Class 1-A.[17] Despite the fierce competition and the result, the exercise ends on good terms between both classes, and later Class 1-B visits Class 1-A's dormitories for socializing and dinner.[18]
Endeavor Agency Arc#
Due to the increase of the villain activity, The Public Safety Commission demands all the student heroes for all academies to undergo practical field training, restarting the Hero Work-Studies program.
With the start of the second Work Study, Nirengeki and his classmate Jurota Shishida team up with Rikido Sato and Mashirao Ojiro to be trained by the hero Shishido.[19]
My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission#
Flect Turn, the leader of the Anti-Quirk cult Humarise, has detonated a Trigger Bomb in a major city, killing thousands and destroying the entire infrastructure. In response to the act of terrorism, the World Heroes Association mobilizes the largest anti-terror joint task force to storm all the branches that the cult has spread around the world.
Nirengeki travels with Mashiro, Jurota, Rikido, and Shishido to the United States, to join the American Task Force, which has the mission of assaulting the base that Humarise has in New York City. Despite the defense of the cultists stationed there, the heroes succeed in raiding the place, and many of them are arrested. However, the main targets, which are the Trigger Bombs, are nowhere to be found. Since the same goes with the assaults of other Task Forces in other countries, the director of the WHA orders everyone to be on standby.
Days later, Flect Turn broadcasts worldwide that in less than two hours his organization will set off multiple Trigger Bombs in the twenty-five cities around the world where its branches used to be. The inhabitants of the threatened cities soon panic, causing numerous accidents. The American team scrambles in defense to focus their efforts on evacuating city. During the search they are informed that Izuku, Katsuki, and Shoto have the key to deactivate all the bombs, and they go to the main headquarters of Humarise to do it.
The heroes find the Trigger Bomb, having to fight Humarise's agents stationed there to get hold of it. The heroes keep fighting until the countdown ends, but none of the bombs go off thanks to the valiant efforts of Izuku's group who has succeeded in their mission to defuse the Trigger Bombs, saving the lives of millions of people. With the crisis averted, Jurota leaves the country and returns to U.A.[20]
Paranormal Liberation War Arc#
The months go by until it's late March. The Hero Public Safety Commission had uncovered the plans of Tomura Shigaraki and his organization, the Paranormal Liberation Front. They organize a large force of heroes to take the villain organization down. While a team of heroes raids the Jaku General Hospital, where the Nomu are created, another team does the same at Gunga Mountain Villa, the Front's main headquarters.
Nirengeki is a member of the Villa Backup Team along with some of his classmates and Class 1-A students. Their mission is to provide support to the heroes who raid the Gunga Mountain Villa and prevent the villains from escaping.[21][22] Despite the successful surprise attack in the villa, the plan is ultimately falling apart when Gigantomachia has started to move after Tomura Shigaraki has awakened in the Jaku General Hospital.
After picking up the League of Villains from the villa, Gigantomachia started to streak across the landscape in order to reach to Tomura, scraping and decimating many of the heroes who get in his way. With the Villa Raid team still occupied at the villa dealing with the Paranormal Liberation Front, Momo received final words from Midnight and rallies everyone in Class 1-A and 1-B to prepare themselves to fight the rampaging behemoth and the League of Villains coming their way.[23]
As Gigantomachia comes into their direction, Momo plans a trap for the heroes to setup before the behemoth arrives to their location. She gives each of her classmates a capsule full of anesthesia that is potent enough to knock the giant unconscious when they throw it into the mouth. Once the traps are set, the students detonate explosives deep in the mushy ground formed by Juzo Honenuki, halting the giant into sinking down. The students attacks the giant and the villains, but neither of them aren't strong enough to take the beast head-on.
Dabi incenerates the surrounding forest area that blocks the other students from getting closer, but Mina Ashido successfully runs through the flames thanks to coating her body with Acidman which nullifies the flames. She loses her capsule and was about to be crushed when Eijiro Kirishima pushed her aside to save her life. Once Eijiro manages to climb his way up to Gigantomachia, Ninengeki and the U.A students fire cannons created by Momo to distract the behemoth long enough to allow Eijiro to throw the anesthesia capsule into the mouth successfully. The rest of the heroes from the Villa arrives to assist the students.[24]
However, things turned for the worse when Gigantomachia still managed to move on his own and grinds the heroes to dust, but Majestic rescues the students by using his Magic to levitate the students out of the way before he was killed. Gigantomachia has successfully broke free and rampages across Jaku City to reach Tomura, as the students watched in horror of the situation growing even more worse than ever.[25]
