History#
Juzo Honenuki participated in the U.A. Recommendation Entrance Exam, where he competed against Shoto Todoroki and Inasa Yoarashi.[1] Although he ended behind them in the practical exam, he was considered fit to enter the group of recommended students, being assigned to Class 1-B.
Synopsis#
U.A. Sports Festival Arc#
Juzo comes in 5th place during the Obstacle Race.[2] For the Cavalry Battle, he teams up with Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu, Yosetsu Awase, and Ibara Shiozaki.
At the beginning of the event, Tetsutetsu's team attacks Izuku Midoriya's team with Juzo using his Softening Quirk to trap them, but Izuku Midoriya uses his jetpack to escape. Tetsutetsu's team attacks them again, only for Fumikage Tokoyami to block off their attack with his Dark Shadow.[3] After the Cavalry Battle ends, Tetsutetsu's team fails to qualify for the final event, with Tetsutetsu confused as to how they lost all their points, and Ibara remarking that it is possibly punishment for taking the Minoru Mineta's headband in such an unfair way. However, Juzo and his teammates do not notice Hitoshi Shinso smirking as he was the one who actually snatched away their headbands.[4]
Although they lost, they are offered the chance to participate in the tournament, because Mashirao Ojiro and Nirengeki Shoda requested withdrawal, and Itsuka Kendo gives the opportunity to fill their positions to Team Tetsutetsu because she thinks they deserve it more because they fought harder during the Cavalry Battle. Juzo and Yosetsu decide that Tetsutetsu and Ibara are the ones to participate, something they are very grateful for.[5]
Forest Training Camp Arc#
When Class 1-B arrives at The Beast's Forest, their teacher Vlad King explains they will be extending their Quirks and the more they use their Quirks, the stronger they will be by breaking their limits. When Class 1-B witness Class 1-A's training. Itsuka Kendo asks Shota Aizawa if can they observe everyone, he explains that is the reason the Wild, Wild Pussycats are around.[6]
Later that night, Class 1-B act as the scaring group during the test of courage. In the forest, Itsuka and Juzo commend Yui Kodai for scaring Shoto and Katsuki Bakugo. However, the smoke entering the forest knocks out Juzo.[7] Upon getting knocked out, Juzo is immediately covered along with Yui by Itsuka's Quirk. The three later meet up with Tetsutetsu and an unconscious Ibara, in which Yui is told to stay behind to protect Juzo and Ibara as he and Itsuka head towards the source of the poisonous smoke.[8]
Juzo and the other 1-B students are rescued by Shota during the aftermath of the Vanguard Action Squad Invasion.[9]
Joint Training Arc#
Juzo and the rest of Class 1-B show up for the Joint Training Battle, with Neito Monoma loudly claiming that the momentum is now moving to their side. Upon selecting teams, Juzo is paired up with Tetsutetsu, Sen Kaibara, and Pony Tsunotori for the third match.[10] Upon entering the new battlefield, Juzo notably tells his teammates that Tetsutetsu's strategy to attack Team 3-A in a head-on confrontation plays right into their abilities.
The battle starts as Shoto Todoroki unleashes a giant ice wall at the opposing team, in which Juzo retaliates by turning it into liquid substance with his Softening. He then proceeds to trap Tenya Ida into the liquid substance, before realizing that Tenya developed a new Ultimate Move: Recipro Turbo.[11] Juzo decides to retreat upon realizing how fast Ingenium is, heading towards his other teammates.[12] When Pony gets restrained by Mashirao Ojiro and Mezo Shoji, Juzo traps the two with his Quirk, before allowing his teammate to capture them. He manages to arrive in the nick of time to stop Shoto's fire from overheating Tetsutetsu, knocking out the young man with a metal pipe. However, Tenya swiftly knocks Mudman down and rescues Shoto.
Juzo realizes that he won't allow his team to lose due to his mistake of underestimating Ingenium, leading him to soften a large building and commanding Tetsutetsu to knock it over. The collapsing building results in Juzo, like the rest of the battle participants, getting knocked unconscious, ending the match in a draw.[13]
Sometime after the match is over, a recovered Juzo opens the curtain next to the recovered Shoto and Tenya in Recovery Girl's Office, admitting that flames and recipro are hard for him to deal with. He asks for a rematch sometime and the two boys from Class 1-A agree.[14]
With the match over, Juzo watches the remaining rounds along with the rest of the students. The Joint Training Battle ends with victory for Class 1-A.[15] Despite the fierce competition and the result, the exercise ends on good terms between both classes, and later Class 1-B visits Class 1-A's dormitories for socializing and dinner.[16]
Endeavor Agency Arc#
With the start of the second Hero Works-Studies, he teams up with Yui Kodai.[17]
Paranormal Liberation War Arc#
The months pass until it's late March. The Hero Public Safety Commission had uncovered the plans of Tomura Shigaraki and his organization, the Paranormal Liberation Front, and organize a large force of heroes to take the villains down.[18] Juzo participates in raiding the Gunga Mountain Villa from the front lines, alongside several Pro Heroes, his classmate Kinoko Komori, and Fumikage and Denki from Class 1-A. Seeing Kinoko worried, Juzo tries to calm her and Midnight explains to them that the students will just be helping a little during the initial assault, after which they can retreat.[19]
Finally, the heroes start the assault on the mansion. Members of the Paranormal Liberation Front are caught off guard due to this surprise attack, but many of them come out to face the heroes.[20] It is in these moments when the students activate their Quirks to help the heroes. Juzo uses his Softening Quirk to make the ground unstable, trapping dozens of soldiers from the Paranormal Liberation Front. Gang Orca congratulates him as his action gives the upper hand to the heroes.[21]
When their assistance is no longer needed. Fat Gum uses his Ultimate Move Fataxi to carrying Juzo, Kinoko, Denki, and Fumikage in his body, taking them away from the battlefield.[22] However, when Fumikage sees her mentor Hawks in danger, he jumps out of Fat Gum's body and flies back. Fat Gum ejects Juzo, Kinoko, and Denki from his body and tells them to run the rest of the way before running off to stop Tsukuyomi.[23]
Later, when Gigantomachia woke up, he is with the other students in the rear lines, when Momo Yaoyorozu starts making up the plan to take the giant down. Momo asks for Juzo's assistance in particular for her plan, with the intention of softening the ground to lure and put Gigantomachia to a halt for an ambush, in an attempt to orally sedate him.[24] After softening the ground to sink Machia in, Juzo expresses his concern for Neito's group, with Setsuna behind him telling him that even though they are worried for their safety, their priority is to take down the giant.[25] While the students continue fighting Machia and the League of Villains on his back, Juzo softens more ground to extinguish Dabi's flames. Eijiro manages to throw a vial into Machia's mouth, and a group of heroes led by Majestic arrive to finish the job.[26]
However, Gigantomachia transforms and destroys his surroundings, so Majestic uses his rings to get the students to safety, sacrificing his life in the process. The students, on the other hand, can only watch as the titan devastates everything in his path.[27]
Final War Arc#
With the Heroes' numbers dwindling rapidly, the remaining Jeroes prepare themselves for the Final War against the villains led by All For One. While most of the Heroes successfully draw out the villains and split them up all over Japan, Juzo and several other members of Class 1-A and 1-B are assigned to the Jaku Hospital Ruins, in order to protect Gigantomachia's containment facility, after he fell during the War.
Sure enough, a section of the Paranormal Liberation Front appear and attempt to free the beast, leading to a big battle. During the fight, they heard the news that Shoto Todoroki has defeated his oldest brother, Dabi, and that gives the heroes the push to keep on fighting.[28]
Despite the Heroes putting up a fight and taking out a chunk of their opponents, things start to turn in favor for the Villains. Juzo had managed to use his Softening Quirk to capture a large chunk of the soldiers, however the remaining ones use their flying Quirks to remain in the air, preventing him from being able to stop them. They proceed to activate an ultra-high frequency recording of All For One's voice, intending to re-awaken Gigantomachia. In order to stop them, Mt. Lady calls for Yui's help, so she uses her Quirk to create a giant wrench, but despite this attempt, they are too late as Machia successfully breaks free from his containment.
Mt. Lady struggles against the beast to prevent him from escaping, while Eijiro attempts to free Hitoshi, who accompanied them as backup, from the Sludge Villain, but Mina is able to save them both using her Acid Quirk at its maximum output. This gives Hitoshi the opportunity to brainwash Machia, and commanding him to take down all the remaining threats. With Machia now under their control, they proceed to apprehend all the defeated Villains, when the Jaku Team receives a request for assistance to help the Gunga Team who are engaging All For One.[29]
