U.A. Sports Festival Arc#
Ibara Shiozaki takes to the field with her classmates from Class 1-B at the start of the U.A. Sports Festival. During the first event, the Obstacle Race, Ibara crosses the finish line fourth and moves on to the next round.[2]
For the Cavalry Battle, Ibara teams up with Juzo Honenuki, Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu, and Yosetsu Awase. At the beginning of the event, Tetsutetsu's team attacks Izuku Midoriya's team with Juzo's Softening Quirk to trap them, but Izuku uses his jetpack to escape.[3]
After the Cavalry Battle ends, Tetsutetsu's team fails to qualify for the final event, with Tetsutetsu confused as to how they lost all their points and Ibara remarking that it is possibly punishment for taking the dwarfy kid's headband in such an unfair way.[4]
After Mashirao Ojiro and Nirengeki Shoda resign from the tournament event, Midnight has the empty slots replaced with Team Kendo, but Itsuka gives the opportunity to Team Tetsutetsu, with Ibara bowing in appreciation. Therefore, Ibara and Tetsutetsu become eligible for the final: the one vs. one fighting tournament.[5]
Ibara faces Denki Kaminari in the third match of the first bracket. Present Mic introduces Ibara as an "assassin" which she takes exception to and decides to correct him. She claims that it is her humble quest to spread good across the world and that she would never kill her opponent. He apologizes and Ibara thanks him.
The bout begins and Denki asks Ibara out on a date, promising to console her after her defeat. Denki starts the battle with his Indiscriminate Shock technique, but Ibara blocks it with her Vines Quirk and ensnares Denki at the same time. With her opponent immobilized and short-circuited, Ibara is declared the winner of the match.[6]
For her second match, Ibara faces Tenya Ida. She starts the battle by attacking with her thorns, but Tenya uses his Recipro Burst technique to quickly run Ibara out of bounds. She is eliminated from the tournament bracket and watches the proceeding matches with her classmates.[7] Once the festival concludes, Ibara joins her Class in honoring the winners during the closing ceremony.[8]
Forest Training Camp Arc#
On the day of the forest lodge trip, when Neito mocks Class 1-A, Ibara is seen observing.[9] When Class 1-B arrives at the training camp, their homeroom teacher Vlad King explains that they will be extending their Quirks and that the more they use their Quirks, the stronger they will be by breaking their limits. When Class 1-B witnesses Class 1-A's training, the Wild, Wild Pussycats appear to explain that they will be there to help and guide them in their training.[10]
On the night of the third day, Class 1-B acts as the scaring group during the test of courage exercise. However, that night the Vanguard Action Squad also attacks the camp. Ibara is knocked out by Mustard's Gas Quirk. Her classmate Tetsutetsu manages to avoid inhaling the gas thanks to a mask created by Momo Yaoyorozu from Class 1-A. He carries Ibara's unconscious body through the forest until he happens upon Itsuka Kendo and Yui Kodai, who carries the unconscious Juzo Honenuki. Tetsutetsu gives them masks to wear and entrusts Ibara's safety to Yui, while he and Kendo go to find the one responsible for the gas.[11]
Later Shota Aizawa founds Yui and her unconscious companions, and helps them and escorts them to safety. He also rescues the remaining Class 1-B students during the aftermath of the Vanguard Action Squad Invasion.[12]
Shie Hassaikai Arc#
Neito Monoma reveals that all of Class 1-B have passed the Provisional Hero License Exam.[13]
U.A. School Festival Arc#
Ibara participates in the U.A. School Festival by playing a role in Class 1-B's "Romeo, Juliet, and the Prisoner of Azkaban: The Return of the Kings!"[14]
Joint Training Arc#
Ibara participates in the Joint Training Battle between Class 1-A and Class 1-B. She is put on the first round team with her classmates Kosei Tsuburaba, Hiryu Rin, and Jurota Shishida against Class 1-A team formed by Eijiro, Denki, Koji, and lead by Tsuyu Asui. Hitoshi Shinso from Class 1-C is added to Class 1-A's team.
Class 1-A is concerned about Ibara as they consider her Class 1-B’s main threat. Trying to find out the position of the opposing team, Koji sends pigeons to explore and they return to tell him that Ibara is spreading her vines out, probing the area. All of a sudden, Jurota and Kosei appear and attack Class 1-A. Knowing that Koji could find them with his Quirk, Class 1-B uses Ibara as bait.[15]
In the initial clash, Tsuyu manages to capture Kosei and imprison him, but Jurota tosses Eijiro into the air toward Ibara, allowing her to capture him with her Vines. Jurota retreats, carrying Koji while muffling his ability to speak, and the two Class 1-A students are put in their jail.
Despite the capture of Kosei, Class 1-B’s team is optimistic about the outcome of the round. Jurota has a new plan to defeat the opposing team, but Ibara is opposed to using such ‘sinful’ tactics. As Jurota, Ibara and Hiryu discuss their strategy, Jurota detects that the remaining members of Class 1-A coming their way, using Tsuyu’s mucus to fool his sense of smell. Anticipating an attack, Ibara readies herself against the incoming threat, and sends out a dense vine growth in the Class 1-A team's direction.[16]
Ibara captures Denki, and pulls him towards her teammates with her vines. Denki tries to attack but cannot as Ibara encloses him within a vine sphere, insulating her team from his electrical discharges. Having successfully captured Denki, Hiryu seemingly shouts to Ibara to send out some more vines, to which Ibara agrees. Suddenly, she becomes brainwashed, with Hitoshi having imitated Hiryu's voice with his Artificial Vocal Cords.
Everything turns out to be a trap by Class 1-A’s team. Denki was purposefully captured by Ibara in order to expend her ability to produce vines, leaving a window of opportunity for Tsuyu and Hitoshi to get closer. Hiryu tries to shake Ibara out of Hitoshi’s Brainwashing, but Tsuyu, who’s holding her, moves her out of range. With Ibara neutralized, Tsuyu and Hitoshi face and defeat Hiryu and Jutora.
Later, Class 1-A and Ibara, still brainwashed, carry Hiryu and Jurota towards their jail, and imprison the entire Class 1-B team. Once in prison, Kosei awakens her from Hitoshi's spell. Ibara is confused at first, but seeing Jurota and Hiryu wrapped in her Vines she realizes that she has been brainwashed by Hitoshi and used against her teammates. Repentant, she apologizes to the lord for what she did and briefly faints.[17]
After the match, Vlad King scolds his students for not choosing either Ibara or Jurota as their team leader. Jurota apologizes to Ibara for allowing Class 1-A to complete their planning and Neito commends his classmates on their effort.[18]
With the match over, Ibara stays to watch the remaining rounds along with the rest of the students, making occasional comments about the participants, such as when she showed her displeasure at the tactics Shihai employed during his round.[19] The Joint Training Battle ends with victory for Class 1-A, and Ibara cannot hide her sadness that her class ended up being defeated.[20] Despite the fierce competition and the result, the exercise ends on good terms between both classes, and later Class 1-B visits Class 1-A's dormitories for socializing and dinner.[21]
Endeavor Agency Arc#
With the start of the second Hero Works-Studies, She and Denki Kaminari, Hanta Sero, and Minoru Mineta from Class 1-A go work for The Lurkers.[22]
My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission#
Ibara continues to do her Work Study with the Lurkers until they learned that Humarise has detonated a Trigger Bomb in a major city, killing thousands and destroying the entire infrastructure. In response to the act of terrorism, the World Heroes Association mobilizes the largest anti-terror joint task force, with the Lurkers joining the Egypt Task Force, where they meet Salaam, Egypt's top Hero.
The heroes lead an assault on a Humarise forward operating base in Cairo. Despite their successful raid, the heroes fail to locate the Trigger Bombs or any of the Humarise's leaders. The Egypt team were ordered to be on standby. During the time, they watch on the TV news that Izuku is framed for mass murder by the Otheon government. The whole team was appalled, and Ibara holds her hands to pray for Izuku's safety while his classmates voice their opinions in defiance against such accusations.
While they are stationed in Cairo, Humarise publicly broadcast to the entire world that they have planted the Trigger Bombs in over twenty-five cities, one of which is Cairo, and they will detonate the bombs in two hours to "cleanse" the population of their Quirks. As a result, Cairo is locked in a state of anarchy and chaos, so the Egypt team scrambled to quell the hysteria and locate the bombs.
Finally the heroes manage to find the bomb, having to engage in an all-out war against the Humarise agents who protect it. During the battle, the heroes are informed that Izuku's group intend to storm Humarise's main base in order to defuse the bombs worldwide.
The Lurkers manage to reach the bomb just as the countdown ends, but after a few seconds nothing happens, indicating that Izuku's group had managed to deactivate the Trigger Bombs in time, saving the world from catastrophic destruction. With the main threat neutralized, the heroes defeat the last of Humarise's agents and seize the device, celebrating the victory. Once the crisis has been averted, the team leave the country and return to the school.[23]
Paranormal Liberation War Arc#
The months go by until it's late March. Thanks to the police investigation and its spy Hawks, the Hero Public Safety Commission has found out the plans of the Paranormal Liberation Front and its allies. With this information the Commission organized a large force of Pro Heroes, divided in several teams to take down the villain organization.
While a team of heroes raid the Jaku General Hospital, where the Nomu are created, another team does the same at Gunga Mountain Villa, the Front's main headquarters. Ibara is a member of the Villa Backup Team along with some of her classmates and Class 1-A students. Their mission is to provide support to the heroes who raid the Gunga Mountain Villa and prevent villains from escaping.[24][25] After learning about the approaching Gigantomachia from Midnight, Momo formulates a plan to take down the giant. She gives the students a vial filled with sedative[26] and set up traps to immobilize Gigantomachia. After the giant sunk into Juzo's softened ground and got his jaw stuck to Minoru's balls, Ibara uses her vines to trap Machia and let the students open his mouth, but he snaps the vines easily.[27]
Eventually, Eijiro manages to throw a vial into Gigantomachia's mouth, and heroes led by Majestic arrive to fight Machia.[28] However, Gigantomachia transforms and destroys everything in his path, but the students are transported to safety by Majestic's rings, and can only watch in horror as the giant devastates everything in his way.[29]
Final War Arc#
In the months that followed and in the aftermath of the Paranormal Liberation War, All For One has escaped from Tartarus, and proceeded to break into several more maximum security prisons, liberating the inmates. Due to the chaos inflicted by Gigantomachia and the mass breakout of prisoners, the whole country entered a state of total chaos and anarchy. In addition, many heroes resigned and called it quits because of the massive criticism of their work, and the destruction spreading unchecked.
With the number of Heroes rapidly dwindling, that that remain prepare for the Final War to defeat All For One and his army of villains. Knowing that All For One is keeping tabs on the Heroes through Search, his mole Yuga Aoyama and his family are utilized in order to lure him out of hiding. Their next step of the plan is to make use of Kurogiri's Warp Gate to allow them to warp themselves into the fight, to catch All For One off guard, as well as warp the villains to locations all over Japan, separating them.[30]
Eventually, the Heroes were starting to win each battle until the only fight that remains was between Izuku and Tomura Shigaraki. Eventually, Shota, now with "Kurogiri" under his control, starts to assemble all the remaining Heroes that are still able to fight, to provide reinforcements for the final battles. Ibara joins the army of heroes through the Warp Gate to teleport themselves to Mt. Fuji where Izuku and Tomura and currently battling to the death.[31] Ibara and some of her 1B classmates have also been teleported to the battlefield so they can help Izuku defeat "All For One". With all the Heroes assembled, they declare "We are here!"[32]
As Izuku runs toward "All For One", the villain unleashed hordes of Quirk attack all over the battlefield, blasting away every Hero who gets in his way, but they all keep countering against his attacks. Shota then calls out to the Heroes through their comms, telling them to help Izuku carve a straight path to Tomura. "All For One" sends a wave of Rivet Stabs and Black Lightning at him, but Ibara and several U.A. Hero Course students jump in the way to take the hits and block the attacks. Soon, more Heroes continue to cover Izuku long enough for him to come into direct contact with the villain and bashes him with a Smash right through his chest.[33] Eventually, Izuku manages to defeat Tomura once and for all, just before Tomura succumbs to his injuries and dies as his body disintegrates into ashes.[34]
