History#
Giulio was born in a unnamed country side in Europe and served in the military. After his military service, he was hired by the head of the rich Scervino Family and the father of Anna Scervino. Anna's father tells Giulio that the reason why he hired him was, according to him, Giulio's Quirk is Neutralization, which can temporarily nullify a target's Quirk by touching them, activated from the right arm of the user.
He explained that Anna's Quirk is Overmodification, which can amplify the Quirk Factor of an individual if they are compatible with the user, boosting the base abilities of the affected Quirk and can even grant brand new ones to the user with enough contact. The method of receiving modifications is through physical contact, where the activation of the Quirk is shown through the change of the user's hair color to black, and the sudden appearance of rose petals blooming.
Because her Quirk is always active, Anna was in constant pain and was unable to control or stop the usage of her Quirk, meaning it will cause harm via negative feedback through incompatibility or herself if she does not release it at any given time. This has made Anna have a hard time living a life at all and nearly left her in a barely living state. In addition to always being active, there is another unforeseen side-effect of this Quirk with Anna suffering seizures that are extremely painful to her body.
In doing so, Giulio offers his service and uses his Quirk to nullify hers. Thanks to Neutralization, Anna's seizures were mitigated and she was able to live a somewhat normal life. Throughout Anna's life, Giulio grew a close friendship with Anna, devoting everything to her well-bring.
Anna's father thanked Giulio for his services, though he regretted having to be constantly confined due to his daughter's condition. Giulio told him he did not mind, for he would be eternally grateful for taking him in as an orphan and for providing him with a stable life and a home. Anna's father warned him that his daughter's Quirk grew stronger every year, and he feared that one day not even his Neutralization would be able to contain its power. Giulio promised he would prevent that from happening even if it cost him his life.
At first, the effects were only harmless enough for Anna to be free, but as Anna got older, her Quirk has already reached Quirk Singularity, making Giulio's Neutralization harder to use on her. One night, while doing the treatment, Anna tells Giulio to promise her one thing: to kill her and end her suffering. Despite Giulio's protest, she insisted because of her dangerous ability, she would eventually reach the point of no return when her Quirk becomes unstable and hurts people; Giulio vows to do that for Anna to end her suffering.
However, sometime after the final battle between the Symbol of Peace: All Might and the leader of the League of Villains: All For One at Kamino, Yokohama in Japan, the Gollini Mafia Family learned of Anna's Quirk, and attacked the household, killing the entire Scervino family, including Anna’s father, and kidnapped Anna.
Anna was taken captive by their leader: Valdo Gollini, and screams for Giulio. Giulio tried to save her, but he was severely wounded after the attack caused him to be trapped under piles of rubble, rendering him helpless as they took her away. Giulio was eventually rescued and was treated for his injuries, but because of his injuries, his right arm, eye, and left leg were replaced with robotic prosthetics, and his own Quirk has been rendered unusable since it relies on him using his right arm. Giulio tracked Anna to Japan and wants to fulfill the promise he made to Anna..[1]

My Hero Academia: You're Next#
Giulio has been tracking Anna and the Gollini Family for months until his next move takes him to Japan, the home country of All Might. Japan has entered a chaotic state of unrest as the result of the Paranormal Liberation War, between the destruction caused by the War, the many Villains that have broken out of prisons and been wreaking havoc on the streets after All For One's escape from Tartarus, and the significant decrease in Heroes after many died or retired in the aftermath. With many civilians no longer trusting the authorities and Heroes, they have started to arm themselves with weapons and support items to defend themselves.
Despite the circumstances, Giulio was trained in the military and navigates through the ruined cities. He owns a custom Support Item armored motorcycle is his primary method of transportation. During one of his breaks, while drinking tea in the middle of the danger zone, he looks at a picture of Anna, before leaving on his motorcycle upon the warning of Villains in the area. He packs up and hurries over to see if the Villains are the Gollini Family.
However upon arrival, he learns that the Villains has villains have no relation to the Gollini, a simple trio of thugs who have looted all the supplies they could get from a refugee shelter. He spots them on a highway, but Class 1-A of U.A. High Heroes Course students arrive and apprehend the rest of the villains. As they take them into custody, Giulio spots a young man, Izuku Midoriya, noticing him before he drives off somewhere.
The Gollini Family formed an alliance with Ginji Kurau, one of the Villains who escaped from Tartarus, with him being revealed that he was one of the few compatible with Anna's Quirk. However, Ginji betrays the Gollini Family and escapes with Anna.
Class 1-A are notified on Ginji's rampage and are dispatched to capture him. Realizing that the Heroes are on to him, Ginji diverts his direction towards an evacuation shelter. Ginji breaks into the building, still with Anna in his grasp. Some evacuees open fire on him, but Ginji brushes off their attacks as he starts to cause destruction.
The fight is taken outside, but Ginji is sniped from a distance by Giulio is trying to assassinate Anna out of a promise he made to her. One of the shots manages to hit the villain in the arm, droping Anna, and Giulio seized the opportunity to shoot at her, but Bruno Gollini uses his Delay Spot to stop the bullet from hitting her.
Infuriated, Giulio fires more times at Anna, but all the bullets slow down when they enter Bruno's bubble. Before he can continue shooting, Izuku uses Blackwhip to catch his prosthetic robot arm, stopping him. Giulio points his sidearm at him, reaching to a standstill, but Izuku realizes that he's not making threatening dangers to him since his Danger Sense wasn't activated.
Bruno takes Anna with him, and ahortly after the rest of the Gollini Family arrive in their yacht. Upon regaining consciousness, Anna refuses to go back with them, but Deborah Gollini uses her Day Dream on her, subduing Anna to her dreams where she desires. Valdo, who reconstructed his face into the physical resemblance of All Might's introduces himself to the country.
While everyone is shocked and confused by Valdo's physical resemblance to All Might, Ginji makes a break for it, he crashes into several buildings, causing debris and one of the buildings to fall onto the civilians. Izuku was forced to let Giulio go so he and Team 1 of Class 1-A can save the civilians from getting crushed.
Now free, Giulio rides his motorcycle toward the yacht and fires his robot arm gun, but Bruno stops him in his Delay Spot. Ugo Gollini uses his Telekinesis to send debris flying toward him as Bruno deactivates his Quirk, causing Giulio to crash into a parking lot, rendering him unconscious.
Valdo brutally defeats Ginji, and then vows to bring upon the "Symbol of Peace" that All Might had desired. Izuku voice out in defiance against him, and Valdo decides to do what is necessary. He touches the hypnotized Anna, allowing her Quirk to amplify his own: Alchemy, and his powers tremendously increase as their floating ship transforms into a massive fortress, consuming everything in its path in an ocean of light, including Class 1-A and Giulio. With the massive fortress now complete, Kamille uses his Quirk, Spatial Excursion, to move the fortress, as it pushes itself forward across cities, consuming everything in their vicinity.
Giulio ends up in a mountain range area of the fortress where he recovers, and dining on some tea to recuperate. While doing so, Izuku, having to escape the jungle area, spots him. Giulio was initially hostile toward Izuku because he's a naïve Hero who has prevented him from fulfilling his mission. Realizing that he can't help him get out, Giulio tells Izuku to get lost, but the student wants to know why he tried to kill the girl. Giulio replies that it's none of his business, and then pulls out a revolver. Izuku thinks he was going to shoot him but in reality Giulio neutralizes a Gollini goon who was behind Izuku with a shock bullet.
At that precise moment, they are ambushed by several Gollini Family henchmen, forcing them to take cover behind a rock. Giulio asks Izuku to do something, but he timidly replies that he can't use his Quirks right now. With Izuku powerless, Giulio takes matters into his own hands: he kicks Izuku out from behind the rock to use him as bait to get the guns aimed away from him while he makes a diversion.
With the thugs distracted by Izuku, Giulio manages to get close to them without them noticing and quickly neutralizes them. Giulio interrogates the henchmen about Anna's whereabouts, but gets no information from them, so he electrocutes them until they are unconscious and walks to his motorcycle to leave the place. Izuku helps him lift it and the two decide to leave together.
During the ride, Giulio gives Izuku a device he snatched from one of the goons to try to find a way out. By pressing a button, a hatch hidden behind a rock opens and they enter. As the Giulio drive through a tunnel, he confesses that those henchmen were probably after him, as he was after Anna's life. Izuku wants to know why he's trying to kill the girl, but is interrupted when they are attacked by missiles.
Using his motorcycle's defense systems, Giulio destroys the missiles and they manage to exit the tunnel without being injured, reaching a beach area where Paulo and a couple of thugs are waiting for them. Giulio fires at them with his weapon cannon, but the henchmen are able to use their Quirks to defend themselves and counterattack. This surprises Izuku, since the previous thugs they faced only attacked them with firearms.
Paulo asks Giulio why he is trying to kill Anna, and he replies that it is because he had promised her, which makes the Gollini member realize he worked for the Scervino Family. Giulio warns them not to use Anna's Quirk because they don't know how dangerous it is, but Paulo says it's not possible, as Anna is an asset that will allow Dark Might to achieve his ideal. Understanding that he won't be able to convince them otherwise, Giulio resumes the shootout.
Izuku is able to deduce that Paulo is the one causing his Quirk not to function using his Quirk, Erasure Spot, which allows him to conjure a field of bubble to disable Quirks and a smaller bubble for him to activate Quirks. He makes his way toward Giulio and asks him to keep them distracted, saying if he does, he'll be able to defeat them. Giulio agrees to help him, and controls his motorcycle through his prosthetic arm to use it to distract the villains and allow Izuku to defeat them.
With Paulo out of the picture, Izuku feels good about being able to use One For All again. He is about to thank Giulio for his help, only to see him fire upward. The shot is easily blocked by Dark Might, who shows up from a balcony he created on one of the walls. Izuku tries to kick him, but Dark Might effortlessly blocks it and then defeats him with his Ultimate Move, Bologna Smash, knocking him unconscious; Giulio quickly rushes over and catches him before he falls.
Dark Might then conjures monsters from the ground and admonishes Paulo for failing once again, punishing him by dropping him into a pit. Before leaving, he asks Giulio to tell Izuku, once he regains consciousness, that he can continue challenging him until he finally decides to follow him.
Giulio straps the unconscious Izuku to his motorcycle and takes him. Once the student regains consciousness, they introduces themselves to each other and Giulio tells Izuku that he's bringing him because he needs a human meat shield. They ride to the city center area where they see civilians and majority of Izuku's classmates unconscious.
After realizing that Deborah and Dark Might have been using the civilians to see how many are compatible with Anna. Giulio aims his arm cannon at Deborah, but the villain uses her Day Dream quirk on Izuku and Giulio as well, causing them to fall asleep and become trapped in pleasant dreams.
Under Deborah's Quirk, Giulio dreams he returns as the butler for Anna, taking care of her, and helping her when she starts to reel in pain due to her Quirk, proclaiming that he will always be there to help her. Suddenly, Anna goes into a frenzy and begins to strangle him. Giulio doesn't understand what is happening and unsuccessfully asks her to stop. In reality, Deborah had ordered one of the controlled civilians to strangle Giulio to death while he was hypnotized.
Fortunately, Izuku had managed to escape from his dream thanks to the intervention of the vestiges of the previous successors of One For All. He had not yet managed to wake up, but since the dreams caused by Deborah's Quirk were connected, he was able to make it to Giulio's. He calls to Giulio in his dream, which makes him snap back into reality, and thanks to his prosthetic eye, he is able to see through Deborah's deception and turns his right robotic arm gun toward her, shooting her in the shoulder. This causes Deborah to deactivate her Quirk, freeing everyone who was hypnotized by her Day Dream.
Anna regains herself and sees Giulio for the first time. At first, she is happy to see him, but then, Giulio turns his gun arm at her, as she realized why he has returned for her. She remembers the promise she made to him and accepts her fate. Upon Anna at his sight, Giulio starts to hesitate after recalling all the happiest memories he had with her. When Giulio fires his arm gun, Izuku intervenes and stops him from hitting Anna, just before Kamile comes and takes Deborah and Anna away. he tried to fire again, but he misses.
Infuriated, Giulio berates Izuku for getting in his way, calling him a hypocritical hero who knows nothing about suffering in people and just meddling into people's affair. Izuku counters that he knows Giulio wanted to help her, and Giulio argues that killing her was the only way. In defeat, Giulio reveals everything about Anna's Quirk and his, and the history between him and the Gollini Mafia.
After Giulio tracked Anna to Japan and wants to fulfill the promise he made to Anna, but because she used her Quirk on so many people in the fortress, she is going through her Quirk Singularity which will not only destroy everyone in the fortress, but also the entire country and herself included. Izuku asks him why he doesn't try to help her like he did before, and Giulio rebbuts that he can't do it anymore. He lost his right arm when the Gollini Family attacked the Scervino mansion, and therefore can no longer use his Quirk.
Izuku tells him that earlier, when he was in the illusion created by Deborah's Quirk, he saw him and Anna smiling at each other, and someone who can smile so gently at Anna can never kill her. Giulio refutes he has forgotten how to smile since Anna was kidnapped, but Izuku promises to find a way to save Anna and bring back his smile.
The students from Teams 2 and 3 of 1-A voice also their objection that killing Anna will end her suffering, and even if it does, they know that it is not what she and Giulio wanted. They understand that Giulio went through so much to get Anna back, and they are not going to let her Quirk grow out of control, vowing to save Anna from her Quirk, and Giulio. Ochaco returns to him a photo of Anna that he had dropped, and Giulio finally agrees to find a way to save Anna. Then Katsuki arrives at the head of Team 1, proclaiming that they can also count on them to bring down the All Might fraudulent impersonator.
Meanwhile, Dark Might learns that Class 1-A is strong and realizes that the citizens and Heroes in the country will not adhere to him, so Dark Might decides that if he can destroy the last remnants of the Heroes, including All Might, in the country, then everyone will have to rely on him. To that end, Dark Might has Kamile change course from gathering cities to the U.A. Shelter, where All Might and most of the Heroes and civilians are, so he can destroy them all and become the only one standing in his ambitions of becoming the Symbol of Peace.
Inside the fortress, wWhile the students provided assistance to the kidnapped civilians and Giulio repaired his prosthetic arm, Dark Might broadcasts to Class 1-A that he will become the Symbol of Peace when he destroys the last remaining Heroes still at the U.A., and then he will be the one who they can rely on.
Class 1-A to take action and start evacuating the civilians as quickly as possible while Katsuki Bakugo, Shoto Todoroki, Fumikage Tokoyami and Izuku move in to save Anna and stop Dark Might. Giulio decides to follow them on his motorcycle. Katsuki orders him to return to the others, but Giulio refuses, claiming that he is the one who best knows how Anna's Quirk works, so he can use his knowledge to assist them, and also wanting Izuku to keep his promise about seeing him smile again.
The students and Giulio arrive at an underground amphitheater where Dark Might's golem monsters start to emerge from everywhere. The five confront them, but Tsukuyomi tells the others to continue while he stays behind to fend off the creatures using Dark Shadow. Later, Giulio and Giulio and the other three students reach the front gate of Dark Might's palace, where Ugo and Gil Gollini are already waiting for them. On this occasion, Katsuki and Shoto are the ones who stay behind to fight them while Izuku and Giulio infiltrates the palace.
As soon as they arrive at the gardens, they are greeted by Dark Might with a entranced Anna at his side. Giulio rushes to save her, but Bruno interferes by trapping him in one of his time bubbles, slowing his movements. The villain walks towards Giulio, pushing him aside as he moves forward so he can very slowly start to fall off his motorcycle. Bruno also tries to catch Izuku with his Quirk, but he manages to take the villain out of the fight.
With Bruno defeated, his bubble stops working. As a result, Giulio loses control of his motorcycle and has an accident; although he fortunately escapes unscathed, his vehicle is destroyed. He sees Dark Might escaping with Anna to the upper floors of the flying fortress, but first he checks Izuku is okay and both continue the chase.
Izuku and Giulio manage to climb to the level where Dark Might fled, reaching a dome that transforms before their eyes into a meadow. Giulio explains that this is due to Dark Might's Quirk, Alchemy, which allows him to create any matter using a catalyst, and used it to resemble All Might, revealing that his true identity is Valdo Gollini, the head of the largest mafia organization in Europe.
When Izuku asks him the reason why he changed his face to look like All Might, Dark Might himself appears to answer that question, with Anna next to him sitting on a sofa. Dark Might explains that he did it to succeed All Might and become the new symbol. He then takes off his suit to reveal All Might's Silver Age Costume underneath, and touches Anna to enhance his Quirk to higher levels.
Izuku and Giulio teamed up to defeat Dark Might, but he proves to be too powerful for them. Even when Giulio manages to get close enough to shoot him at point-blank range, the villain manages to stop the bullets before they reach him, giving Giulio a brutal beating before attempting to crush him with a giant alchemical hand, only to be saved in extremis by Izuku.
Izuku comes up with a plan to keep Dark Might busy long enough for Giulio to save Anna. Izuku generates a smokescreen and attacks Dark Might to hold him as Giulio rushes towards the girl. However, when Giulio is about to reach Anna, Deborah appears and uses her Quirk to make Giulio fall into another dream state again. This momentarily distracts Izuku, allowing Dark Might to overpower him and sends him to a wall, pinning him down.
With Giulio defenseless and completely at her mercy, Deborah orders the hypnotized Anna to kill him, handing her a dagger to do so. Fortunately, outside the flying fortress, Endeavor unleashes a full blast of Prominence Burn to make a hole large enough for civilians to fall through, and all the Heroes to move inside the fortress. The sheer blast causes a violent quake that causes a violent quake that makes Anna stumble and drop the dagger.
Still trapped, Izuku calls Giulio to regain consciousness. Giulio's cybernetic eye activates and recognizes Deborah. He unconsciously uses his prosthetic arm to shoot at Deborah again but he is out of bullets. The villain mocks him for his failure but then he uses his prosthetic leg to blast his body as a rocket and crashes into Deborah, defeating her.
With Deborah defeated, Anna snaps out of her hypnosis, and was horrified that she had a knife and her hair being darkened. She sees Giulio severely wounded and tries to go help him, but Dark Might grabs Anna, allowing him to grow even more powerful. Katsuki and Shoto soon arrive and free Izuku, where the three finally fight against Dark Might. Dark Might concludes that the three are truly All Might's successors and touches Anna once more to become powerful enough to change his costume into the "Golden Age", making him rival that of All Might's powers in his prime.
Anna collapses from her pain while Dark Might battles the hero students. Izuku, Katsuki, and Shoto are having trouble dealing with this newfound increase in strength, but the trio goes for an all-out assault on Dark Might and start to overwhelm him with everything they've got. Together, they managed to inflict more damage before Izuku finished him off with St. Louis Smash. Dark Might's defeat causes the fortress to collapse after his battle.
With Dark Might defeated, Giulio recovers and tries to get to Anna. However, as Anna's Overmodification Quirk has already reached Quirk Singularity due to overuse, it has caused her to lose control of her Quirk. As a result, her powers consume everything in the battlefield, including Dark Might. Dark Might, still affected by Anna's Overmodification, manages to regain consciousness and uses her enhanced properties to turn himself into a colossal monster, using the fortress to repair a new body.
While Shoto and Katsuki fight back against Dark Might, Izuku tries to get Giulio to Anna, who was encased by thorns when she mutated on herself. Giulio manages to touch her, and thanks to Anna's Overmodification, his own Neutralization Quirk becomes greatly enhanced, allowing him to finally overcome his limits and then use it on Anna.
With Dark Might vulnerable, Izuku, Katsuki, and Shoto, attack the Villain and unleashed their most powerful moves, defeating him one and for all, destroying the fortress. The crisis is over and everyone is celebrating. Anna recovers, and Giulio tells her that he is revealed to be compatible her Quirk, which overloaded his Neutralization, and because of that it has permanently neutralized her Quirk, rendering her functionally Quirkless.
Giulio tells Anna she can live a normal life without feeling that burned, and now she can touch and be with whoever she wants to, so he no longer needs to watch out for her. He then begins to walk away but Anna runs after him holding him from the back, telling him that now they can be equals, and she doesn't want him to leave, as he told her that he would be by her side always.
Giulio turns around and embraces her as Class 1-A watches them with glee. Izuku is happy that Giulio is back with Anna and is able to smile again.[1]
Final War Arc#
Giulio and Anna were offered to stay at the U.A. Shelter for the time being while the remnants of the Heroes and U.A. students head out to fight All For One and his army of villains for an all-or-nothing battle in the Final War. As Giulio and Anna remain at the evacuee shelter, they watch the final battle being broadcasted throughout the world, including the battle between Izuku Midoriya and Tomura Shigaraki alongside the evacuees living within U.A.'s residential area.[2]
They also watched All Might's battle with All For One. Despite putting up a good, but brutal fight, All Might was defeated by All For One, who was about to execute him in front of everyone, only for Katsuki to appear at the last moment to save him.[3]
Eventually, the Heroes in Japan are winning every battle one after another until the only battle that remains was the one between Izuku and Tomura. Anna watches the heroes help Izuku get through "All For One"'s attacks so he can get close and finish the fight for good.[4] As Anna and Giulio watched Izuku, Giulio tells him to "do your best", while Anna silently prays for his safety.[5] Izuku succeeds in delivering the final Smash right through Tomura's chest, defeating him once and for all as his body disintegrates into ashes.[6]
