Almost nothing is known about Deborah's past, though from what can be gleamed from her National Villain List file, she is the eldest daughter of an unnamed family. Deborah became a member of the most dangerous crime syndicate in Europe, the Gollini Family. After killing his father, Valdo Gollini assumed control of the family, which quickly rose to infamy throughout their region. Despite efforts by the heroes, the Gollinis continued expanding their territory and influence, evading capture at every turn. Their growing reputation soon extended beyond Europe, prompting caution among heroes in other countries whenever the Gollini name surfaced.
Valdo was obsessed with All Might, even going lengths to uses his own Quirk: Alchemy, to model his entire existence to become like the Hero. After the final battle between the Symbol of Peace: All Might and the leader of the League of Villains: All For One at Kamino in Japan, Valdo leads his syndicate to new heights and himself declares that he will take his place and become All Might's successor.
To that end, they learned of the daughter and heir of the wealthy Scervino Family: Anna Scervino, and her Quirk which can can modify and enhance Quirks to an immense degree. Valdo led an assault on the Scervino Household, killing Anna's father, and kidnapping Anna.
They discovered that only certain "compatible" people could use Anna's Gift, and that anyone else suffered a negative reaction when touching Anna. Deborah was one of the eight people who turned out to be compatible, along with her associates Paulo, Simon, Bruno, Kamile, Ugo, Gil and Valdo himself.
Synopsis#
Valdo leads the entire family and takes Anna to Japan, the home country of All Might.[1][2] Japan has entered a chaotic state of unrest as the result of the Paranormal Liberation War. With many civilians no longer trusting the authorities and Heroes, they have started to arm themselves with weapons and support items to defend themselves.
Upon arriving in the country, the Gollini Family form an alliance with Ginji Kurau, one of the Villains who escaped from Tartarus, with him being revealed that he is one of the few compatible with Anna's Quirk. However, Anna makes a deal with the jailbreaker, he will enhance Ginji's Mad Gluttony Quirk, and in exchange, he would help her escape from the Gollini's captivity. Ginji ends up blindsiding Paulo and manages to escape with Anna. After getting out however, Ginji goes back on his word and chose to use his modified Quirk to go on a rampage, believing that he would be unstoppable with Anna's Quirk.
Because of his betrayal, the Gollinis immediately go after Ginji to punish him and get Anna back, although they aren't the only ones on her trail. Giulio Gandini, the only survivor of the attack on the Scervino mansion and Anna's close friend, is also after the her, although with other intentions.
On the other hand, Class 1-A from the U.A. High Heroes Course is notified on Ginji's rampage and are dispatched to capture him. Class 1-A arrives first on the scene to stop the villain; however, Giulio soon arrives after tracking Anna, interrupting their capture. Bruno uses his Delay Spot Quirk to stop Giulio from killing Anna with a single shot, and recovers her just as the rest of the Gollini Family arrive in their private yacht.
Anna tries to resist upon being taken onto the ship, but Deborah uses her Day Dream to subdue her and make her agree to return with them. Deborah taunts Paulo about Bruno retrieving Anna after Ginji managed to take her when she was in his custody. Paulo replies that he won't make any mistake again.
With Anna back in their hands, Valdo undoes his mask, revealing that he has the appearance of prime All Might, shocking everyone. During the confusion, Ginji takes the opportunity to escape, destroying buildings in his path, forcing the U.A. students to save civilians caught in the scene. Seeing the students' actions, Deborah comments half-jokingly that being a hero must be tough. At that moment Giulio tries to board the yacht and opens fire on the family, but by combining their Quirks, Bruno and Ugo get rid of him. Seeing Giulio's attempts to reach Anna, Deborah tells the hyponotized Anna that she is really popular.
After punishing Ginji for his betrayal, Valdo returns to the yacht and proclaims himself All Might's successor as a symbol of peace before everyone present. This earns Izuku's rejection, who refuses to acknowledge him as such due to his violent methods. Indifferent to his words, Valdo touches Anna, allowing his Alchemy Quirk to become immensely enhanced, and their floating ship transforms into a massive fortress, consuming everything in its path in an ocean of light. Soon, the rest of Class 1-A were caught by the light and are consumed inside of the massive fortress.
With the massive fortress now complete, Valdo conjures a majestic palace for him and the Gollini Family, with Anna in his possession. After calling himself Dark Might, he instructs each of the family to have their Quirks enhanced through Anna, and with each family empowered, they can now begin their next phase. Kamile uses his Spatial Excursion, to move the fortress, as it pushes itself forward across cities, consuming everything in their vicinity.
Inside, Deborah takes Anna to the City Area, where the civilians who were caught by their fortress are gatherer, and uses her newly enhanced Quirk on everyone to keep them hypnotized and under hercontrol. Then, during their dreams, each civilian touches Anna to discover which ones are compatible as part of Dark Might's plan, but each one suffers a painful seizure before losing consciousness.
Team 2 from Class 1-A, consisting of Shoto Todoroki, Tenya Ida, Momo Yaoyorozu, Minoru Mineta, Denki Kaminari, Tsuyu Asui, and Mezo Shoji, saw her and Anna hurting the civilians and moves in to stop them, but Deborah notices their presence and used her Quirk on them, causing Team 2 to fall into their dreams. Deborah promises to put them in their dreams for a while until they can determine if they're compatible with Anna before continuing her work.
Some time later, students from Team 3: Ochaco Uraraka, Hanta Sero, Kyoka Jiro, Toru Hagakure, and Mashirao Ojiro, accidentally fell into a manhole and ended up in the city center right next to Deborah, who notices them. Before they can attack, Deborah uses her Quirk on them, and then she makes all the tranced U.A. student to touch Anna, but they are all revealed to be incompatible with Anna's Quirk, so they suffered a painful seizure and fell unconscious.
Soon, Izuku Midoriya and Giulio arrived in the center where they confront Deborah and Anna. She revealed that those who are compatible with Anna's Quirk will become future soldiers for Dark Might to realize his dream of "Symbol of Peace", and used her Quirk to put Izuku and Giulio into their dreams. With Izuku and Giulio being the last ones, Deborah has one of the hypnotized civilians strange Giulio to death while he is still under her Quirk.
As a civilian stranges Giulio, Izuku is brought back to his senses by the vestiges of One For All, allowing him to realize it is all a dream. He calls to Giulio in his dream, which makes him snap back into reality, and thanks to his prosthetic eye, he is able to see through Deborah's deception and turns his right robotic arm gun toward her, shooting her in the shoulder. This causes Deborah to deactivate her Quirk, freeing everyone who was hypnotized by her Day Dream.
Deborah was confused because no one has ever broken out of her Day Dream before. Anna regains herself and sees Giulio for the first time. At first, she is happy to see him, but then, Giulio turns his gun arm at her, as she seemingly accepts her fate. Izuku stops him from killing Anna, and then Kamile suddenly appears and hurried Deborah and Anna out of the city center and flees back into the palace.
Deborah was bandaged up and taken to the throne room of the palace, where Dark Might admonishes her for failing him. Deborah apologizes for failing and he reluctantly spares her as he still needed her Quirk to keep Anna under control, but reminds her that she will be punished if she disappoints him again, as happened with Paulo and Simon after they were defeated by the students earlier.
With the defeat of two of his lieutenants, Dark Might concludes that Class 1-A is strong, and so long as Al Might lives, he will continue to inspire the citizens and Heroes in the country who will never adhere to him, so Dark Might decides that if he can destroy the last remnants of the Heroes in the country, then everyone will have to rely on him. To that end, Dark Might has Kamile change course from gathering cities to the U.A. Shelter, where All Might and most of the Heroes and civilians are located, so he can destroy them all and become the only one standing in his ambitions of becoming the Symbol of Peace.
The Counter-Force at U.A. notice the fortress' change in direction, and realize it is heading right towards the school. Endeavor leads the Heroes to the outskirts of the city to stage a counter-attack against the fortress. While inside, Dark Might announced to everyone and Class A that he will destroy All Might's alma mater to show that their future is now in his hands. Class 1-A takes action and start evacuating the civilians as quickly as possible, while Izuku, Giulio, Shoto, Katsuki, and Fumikage move towards the palace to take back Anna and defeat Dark Might.
While Katsuki and Shoto fight Ugo and Gil, Izuku and Giulio defeated Bruno, forcing Dark Might to escape with Anna to the upper floors of the fortress while Izuku and Giulio pursue them. In the meadow garden, Dark Might touches Anna to enhance his Quirk to higher levels. He is able to easily overpower them in battle.
Izuku keeps Dark Might busy while Giulio tries to reach Anna, bu before he can touch her, Deborah appears and uses her Quirk to make Giulio fall into another dream state again. This momentarily distracts Izuku, allowing Dark Might to overcome him and pin him down. With the defenseless Giulio at her mercy and Anna hypnotized by her Day Dream, Deborah hands her a dagger and orders Anna to kill Giulio. Fortunately, outside, Endeavor's attacks cause a strong quake that that makes Anna fall and drop the dagger.
Giulio's cybernetic eye, unaffected by Day Dream, activates and recognizes Deborah. Horrified, the villain watches as Giulio points his arm cannon at her and pulls nearly shoots her, but it is out of ammo. Deborah can't help but laugh in relief and hysterically mock him for such fail, but shuts her mouth when she sees Giulio's prosthetic leg transform into a jet propulsion system, allowing him to fly and head toward her like a rocket. A fearful Deborah tries to escape but Giulio smashes into her. With Deborah defeated, her hold on Anna is broken and she regains consciousness. Deborah was last seen unconscious within the fortress, which later collapsed in the battle between the heroes and Dark Might, leaving her fate unknown.[3]
