Gori is a member of the Police Force.[1]
Appearance#
Gori is a bulky man with the head of a mountain gorilla.
He wears a dark gray suit with a black tie. During the Final War, he has also been shown wearing armored police gear.[2]
Personality#
Gori appears to be a firm, yet fair policeman. He is quite perceptive, as he was able to tell that La Brava followed Gentle out of genuine love and devotion, not by force, and after seeing Gentle continuing to defend her, he was able to tell that this bond was mutual between them both. He is empathetic and believes that it is possible for people to change their ways, telling Gentle that he could still do the right thing and turn over a new leaf.
Towards worse Villains, such as Kyudai Garaki, Gori is far stricter and ordered him to be quiet while Kyudai was in his cell, though he was willing to hear him out when the doctor began to explain Dabi's origins.
Synopsis#
U.A. School Festival Arc#
Gori is first seen after Gentle Criminal turns himself in to Hound Dog and Ectoplasm's clones following his botched attempt to sneak into the U.A. School Festival. Gentle claimed that he had brainwashed La Brava into aiding his crimes, but Gori quickly deduces that this is untrue, saying that the police can test for brainwashing easily and tells him not to tell feeble lies.
After going through Danjuro's background, Gori sees that he became so desperate to accomplish his dream that he lost sight of the path he was going down. Gori tells him that it's a good thing he was stopped before he did something he wouldn't be able to come back from. He then tells Danjuro that he has what it takes to reform his life, saying that he isn't the type of person who is too lazy to try and start over, or a person who will rush to achieve results.
Upon hearing that he still has a second chance, Danjuro gets emotional and Gori offers to fetch him some tea. Danjuro requests black tea, but Gori refuses and instead gets him instant tea.[3]
Paranormal Liberation War Arc#
After the Paranormal Liberation War, in which numerous Heroes died or quit and Tomura Shigaraki escaped along with several Near High-End Nomu, Gori took part in the interrogation of Kyudai Garaki, who was arrested after his allegiance to the Paranormal Liberation Front was discovered. Gori managed to extract information from him concerning Tomura's revival.[4]
In the aftermath of war, "Tomura" and the Near High-Ends stormed Tartarus prison, freeing All For One and numerous prisoners. Then, they proceeded to break into several more maximum security prisons, liberating more inmates to join him. Of the seven prisons attacked, Mikuzu Prison was the only one didn't have any Jailbreakers.
Gori goes to the location to investigate, finding that Gentle had single-handedly prevented any prisoner from escaping. As a thank you for what he has done, Gori asks him what they can do for him. Gentle only asks for two things: He wants to see La Brava again, and allows him to help them to repay his debt.
His requests are granted, and both Gentle and La Brava are allowed to help the Heroes in the incoming Final War.[5]
Final War Arc#
As the Final War began between the Heroes and Villains, Gori is left in charge of keeping watch over the inmates. Kyudai Garaki talks from his cell and mentions that the final battle must be going down as they speak, saying how there's less officers on duty. Gori orders him to be quiet, but Kyudai begins to explain how All For One once sought out warped beings who were suitable for being raised as potential vessels, in case anything ever happened to Tomura.
One day, All For One found Toya Todoroki who had nearly been burned to death by his own Quirk, stating that they intended to raise him as a potential vessel. Gori asks what he's talking about, inquiring if it's another example of All For One having everything planned from the beginning, but Kyudai says it's simply a warning, saying that they couldn't manipulate Toya into believing their words. He escaped from them and became the villain Dabi, and despite that he should've been long dead by now, he's kept alive by the immense hatred he feels for his father, Endeavor.[2]
After this conversation, Gori is called in to support Central Hospital with riot control units to assist the Heroes in defending the building. Facing them is a mob of thousands of heteromorphs led by Spinner, determined to storm the place with the goal of freeing Kurogiri. An army of 15,000 people were marching on the Hospital, up against a group of Heroes and Police Force of just about 200.
The Police Force try to defend themselves, but the enemy's numerical superiority soon becomes evident. Some of his men ask him to call for reinforcements; however, Gori replies there's no one to call so they have to push them back with their taser shields as much as they can. Despite trying to lead the Police Force the best he can, the situation is unfavorable, as Gori quickly realizes that the enemy is actively dividing and isolating their forces.[6]
Mezo Shoji confronts Spinner and gains the upper hand in the fight, while trying to convince the heteromorphs of the wrongness of their actions, but Spinner manages to embolden his followers to keep fighting, commanding them to follow him as he blasts his way toward the Hospital. His followers hesitate for a moment, but then shout in agreement and follow their leader. Gori notices that they are more fired up and seems to deem it necessary to use firearms.[7]
Spinner and several of his followers burst into the Hospital, but the latter realize their mistake upon seeing the hospital staff ready to protect their patients. These, along with Mezo's words, made them realize their error, and they left to convince the others to stop fighting, thus ending the battle, while the main instigators are arrested.
Meanwhile, Spinner reaches Kurogiri and awakens him from his trance, which causes disruption on several fronts of the war.[8] Despite everything, the Heroes manage to achieve victory in the end after Izuku Midoriya defeats All For One once and for all.[9]
Epilogue Arc#
Days after the end of the War, Gori releases Gentle from prison, and allows him to have a tearful, loving reunion with La Brava at the police station. As they happily embrace and compliment each other, Gori informs them that that they have both received a pardon thanks to their contributions during the Final War, which has been officially acknowledged, and wishes them good luck.[10]
