Reflect (Tomura Shigaraki)

ArticleSource revision

This article is about Tomura Shigaraki's former Quirk. For Flect Turn's version, see Reflect (Flect Turn).

Reflect was a stolen Quirk used by Tomura Shigaraki. It was destroyed when Tomura stole Cathleen Bate's New Order.[1]

Description#

Reflect allows the user to copy any attack they are hit with and recreate the same attack themselves at the same strength. They can absorb multiple sources at the same time, but it releases in one direction all at once. There does not seem to be a power limit on Tomura's reflected attacks, but he does have to take the hit in order to reflect it.

Weaknesses#

This Quirk is not passive, it has to be activated as the projectile hits the user. This is shown when New Order was destroying Tomura's Quirks, giving the fighter jet squad the opportunity to open fire their lasers onto him. He activated Reflect which stopped him from taking any further damage, but was still remained badly burned by the blasts that hit him before the Quirk was activated. Once Reflect was destroyed by New Order, Tomura started taking full damage again.

Usage#

Tomura used Reflect in conjunction with Scatter in his fight against Star and Stripe. After being blasted by multiple laser cannons, he fired the same lasers back before regenerating from the injury. By incorporating Scatter into his attack, he was able to fire back in multiple directions at once.[2]

Trivia#

  • This Quirk shares similarities with the Absorption and Release Quirk used by the Four-Eyed Hosu Nomu, as both abilities absorb attacks after the user is hit and send them back to their opponents.
  • Reflect shares its English name with Flect Turn's Quirk; however, their Japanese names are spelled differently, as Tomura's is written in kanji, while Flect Turn's is written in katakana.
  • The two Quirks also share somewhat similar effects, as both of them allow their users to send an attack back at an opponent. However, Tomura's version allows him to recreate a projectile he's been struck by, whereas Flect Turn's version redirects any physical force he is subjected to back at the attacker.
