History#
Since the age of seven, he was seen active in local gangs under the name "Paulo", eventually gaining a criminal record by the age of seventeen, having committed crimes like theft and assault. Eventually, he would end up joining the Gollini Family, a mafia organization, which was one of the most powerful criminal organizations in Europe.
The organization was led by Valdo Gollini, who held great admiration for All Might, bordering on obsession, going so far as to use his own Quirk, Alchemy on himself, to shape his entire physique to resemble the Hero.
After the real All Might lost his powers and retired as a hero after his final battle against All For One, Valdo leads his syndicate to new heights and himself declares that he will take his place and become All Might's successor.
To that end, they learned of the daughter and heir of the wealthy Scervino Family: Anna Scervino and her Overmodification Quirk, which can modify and enhance Quirks to an immense degree. Valdo led an assault on the Scervino Household, killing most of the occupants and kidnapping Anna.
They learned that only certain "compatible" individuals could make use of Anna's Quirk, with anyone else being hit with a negative reaction upon touching her. As a result, the family of thousands was culled down to only eight main individuals. Paulo was one of those eight compatible individuals, along with Deborah, Simon, Bruno, Kamile, Ugo, Gil and Valdo Gollini himself.
With Anna under their control, the Gollini Family traveled to Japan on a luxurious yacht. The country was going through a deep crisis following the catastrophic outcome of the Paranormal Liberation War, which left much of the country in ruins, numerous villains escaped from prison and wreaking havoc throughout the nation, and a deep distrust of the population towards the remaining heroes.[1]
Synopsis#
Once they arrived in the country, they met and allied with Ginji Kurau, a villain who escaped from Tartarus, and who proved to be one of the few people compatible with Anna's Quirk. Overmodification. Seeing the potential that Anna's Quirk had, Ginji make a deal to her. In exchange for making his Quirk Mad Gluttony more powerful, he would help her escape from the Gollini Family's captivity, and she accepted.
Valdo had put Paulo in charge of watching Anna while they were in Japan, but Ginji managed to blindside Paulo and take her with him. After getting out however, Ginji went back on his word and chose to use his modified Mad Gluttony to go on a rampage, believing that he would be unstoppable with Anna's Quirk. Upon learning of Ginji had double-cross him, Valdo immediately orders his subordinates to retrieve Anna.
Besides them, there was also another person who was on the trail of the girl: Giulio Gandini, a butler who worked at the Scervino household and is a close friend of Anna. He was a survivor of the Gollini assault on the mansion, and has been looking for Anna since, although not with the intention of saving her from her captors.
Class 1-A from the U.A. High Heroes Course is notified on Ginji's rampage and are dispatched to capture him. Class A Team 3, led by Izuku Midoriya, crosses Ginji's path while he was escaping with Anna, triggering a battle that ends when Giulio appears and shoots Anna with the intention of killing her.
When the bullets are about to reach her, Bruno Gollini appears and uses his Delay Spot Quirk to save the girl's life. Then he takes Anna with him, just as the rest of the Gollini Family arrive in their private yacht. Seeing Bruno's success, Deborah taunts Paulo for allowing Ginji to take Anna when she was in his custody. Annoyed, Paulo grumbles that he won't make the same mistake again.
Upon seeing the Gollini, Ginji flees for his life, causing massive destruction in his wake so the students have to save the civilians instead of chasing him. Giulio tries to board the ship, but Bruno and Ugo get rid of him.
After punishing Ginji for his betrayal, Valdo proclaims himself All Might's successor as a symbol of peace to everyone present. This earns Izuku's rejection, who refuses to acknowledge him as such due to his violent methods. Indifferent to his words, Valdo touches Anna, allowing his Alchemy Quirk to become immensely enhanced, and their floating ship transforms into a massive fortress, consuming everyone and everything in its path in an ocean of light. Soon, the entire class 1-A is also absorbed by the light.
When the gigantic structure is completed, Valdo conjures a majestic palace for him and the Gollini Family, with Anna in his possession. Once in the throne room, he contacts All Might so that the former hero will recognize him as his successor, but All Might tells him that he already has one and that he would never recognize someone like him as his successor. After his rejection, Valdo decides to call himself Dark Might, and orders his subordinates to call him that from then on.
Using video cameras to observe all the different biomes in the fortress, they notice that Giulio is inside as well. Paulo volunteers to dispose of him. Dark Might tells him that it is not necessary, but Paulo insists on taking care of him to make up for letting Anna get away. Dark Might agrees to his request, but warns him that this is his last chance to redeem himself. Then Paulo takes Anna's hand to boost his Quirk with Overmodification, and set out to right his wrong.
Paulo takes some henchmen with him and heads to an area close to Giulio's. Since he doesn't know much about him, Paulo uses his Quirk to create a large dome-shaped wave of energy that deactivates the Quirks of anyone within its range. Then, he sends some of his men to eliminate him. Since none of them can use their Quirk, they can only use firearms to kill Giulio. His Quirk also affects Izuku, who was near the place and accidentally ends up in the area where Giulio was, forming an alliance with him.
After dispatching the thugs Paulo sent, Giulio searches them and steals a device that opens a hatch leading to Paulo's location. Izuku accompanies him, and as the two are riding down the tunnel, Paul orders one of the two remaining hechmen to attack them. The subordinate uses his quirk to transform his head into a missile launcher, firing several projectiles into the tunnel, but Giulio and Izuku manage to escape the ambush unharmed. Giulio counterattacks by shooting them with his arm cannon, but the other subordinates protect them with their barrier Quirk. This surprises Deku, since the previous thugs they faced only attacked them with firearms.
Paulo asks Giulio why he is trying to kill Anna, and he replies that it is because he made Miss Anna, which makes the Gollini member realize he worked for the Scervino Family. Giulio warns them not to use Anna's Quirk because they don't know how dangerous it is, but Paulo assures that they'll use her Quirk however they see fit, as Anna is an asset that will allow Dark Might to achieve his ideal. Understanding that he won't be able to convince them otherwise, Giulio resumes the shootout.
Meanwhile, Izuku carefully observes the fight and realizes that Paulo is the one preventing him from using One For All. Seeing how the two Hechmen always stay close to him and can use their Quirks, he deduces that Paulo can conjure a large bubble field to deactivate Quirks, and a smaller bubble so he and his minions can use theirs.
With this information, he devises a plan to defeat him, and asks Giulio to help him. The former Scervino butler uses his motorcycle to distract the villains long enough for Izuku to get close enough to Paulo. The distraction works, and Izuku manages to reache the spot to re-activate his Quirk, defeating the henchmen first, and then Paulo with Manchester Smash.
However, he has no time to celebrate his victory, as Dark Might appears on a balcony on one of the walls of the place, accompanied by Kamile. Dark Might notes that Izuku can use multiple Quirks, and realizes that he is probably the successor All Might mentioned. The student tries to kick him, but Dark Might blocks the attack and knocks him out with a Bologna Smash. Giulio quickly rushes over and catches Izuku before he falls to the ground.
With Izuku out of commission, Dark Might turns his attention to the defeated Paulo. He uses his quirk to conjures two golems from the ground, who grab Paulo and are lifted into the air by Kamile. Dark Might admonishes his lackey for failing once again. Crying in fear, Paulo begs for just one more chance, but Dark Might retorts that he's given him multiple chances, but the only thing he gaves him in return is sloth, one of the seven deadly sins.
Dark Might tells him that he is an idiot who only disgrace the Gollini Family, and death serious explains that All Might, whom he intends to succeed, has never lost a fight. Desperate, Paulo swears that he will not be defeated again and will not fail him again. Dark Might considers that showing mercy may take them one step towards peace, but ultimately dismisses it and tells Paulo he hopes he comes back to his side in his next life.
Dark Might summons a black pit beneath Paulo and the two golems drop him into from a great height, producing a loud crushing sound once Paulo crashes into the ground.[1]
