Class 1-A#
Eijiro Kirishima#
Mina and Eijiro went to the same middle school. During 9th grade, Eijiro tried to stop two students from bullying an underclassman but was laughed off. Afterwards, Eijiro witnessed Mina step in and solve the issue by getting the student and the two bullies to break dance, diffusing the situation and ending the issue. Eijiro admired Mina for this but also began to feel self-conscious of the fact that Mina is exciting and heroic, leaving him mundane in comparison. He attempted to stop a Villain on the same day as the bullying incident but his legs froze up and Mina stopped the Villain instead.
Eijiro later apologized to Mina and her classmates for not being able to do anything to stop the Villain. Eventually, he and Mina took the U.A. Entrance Exam together and passed. On their first day of high school, Eijiro underwent a complete appearance change, dying his hair red and spiking it up in a style that was inspired by Crimson Riot. His hairstyle also appears to have two little horns, which Mina picked up on and decided to call herself and Eijiro "horn buddies". She asked him how he's going to move on and say goodbye to his old-self if he's still pulling the same-old gloomy face as before. Mina then smiled at Eijiro and told him to tell her when he really does overcome his regrets from the past.
The two collaborated together on Team Bakugo during the Sports Festival Arc and seemed to work well together.
Mina is shown to express concern for him, checking to see if he's moved on from his past yet after his Work Study.
After her Work Study, Mina unveiled a new defensive Ultimate Move called Acidman. She excitedly told Eijiro that she created it by imitating his Unbreakable, which flattered him.
During the Paranormal Liberation War, Eijiro rushed through fire to save Mina from being crushed by Gigantomachia and managed to grab and take her falling 30-liter vial filled with sedative with him. He failed to throw his own vial into Gigantomachia's mouth due to Himiko Toga destroying it by throwing her knife at him so he grabbed Mina's falling vial and threw it into Gigantomachia's mouth while thinking about Mina's chivalrous spirit being in good hands. They survived Gigantomachia's destruction and went back to save other injured Heroes together.
During the Final War, she and Eijiro were stationed at the Jaku General Hospital ruins to guard Gigantomachia from attempts to rescue him by the Paranormal Liberation Front. Despite their best efforts Gigantomachia awoke while Hitoshi Shinso was immobilized. Using an upgraded version of Acidman she was able to melt through Gigantomachia's claws to halt his assault and damage the villain holding Shinso enough that he fled, allowing the student to Brainwash the massive villain. However, this left her weak from dehydration and she almost collapsed. Eijiro caught her and she impressed upon him that she had paid him back for saving her during the Paranormal Liberation War. Eijiro rejected this, saying that there was no need to pay him back, that she'd always been his Hero.
Later the two arrived on the Mt. Fuji battlefield with the rest of Class 1-A in the final moments of the war. Together with Fat Gum they blocked a devastating attack from "All For One", allowing Izuku Midoriya to continue advancing towards the Villain and ultimately defeat him.
8 years later, the two seems to be even closer, their relationship described as a firm friendship and sharing friendly rivalry. This could be implying that two see each other often during work, especially since they were being interviewed together.
Ochaco Uraraka#
Same as with the rest of the girls in their class, Mina and Ochaco are often seen together and are good friends. Mina was the first of the girls to figure out that Ochaco was in love with someone after she saw her distracted before the Provisional Hero License Exam, but was initially unsure if it was Izuku Midoriya or Tenya Ida whom Ochaco frequently hung out with. Unlike the other girls, who either chose to give Ochaco space such as Tsuyu and Momo, or were interested but dropped the subject after the initial conversation in the case of Toru and Kyoka, Mina refuses to let it go and frequently teases her for it. Mina is very interested in Ochaco's love life, which usually causes Ochaco to become heavily flustered and deny everything.
Despite this back and forth, the two are still good friends. Mina congratulated Ochaco and Tsuyu when they made their debut as Heroines and reached out to Ochaco after she returned safely from the mission against the Shie Hassaikai.
By the time of the Joint Training Battle, Mina had deduced that Izuku was the object of Ochaco's affections. She subsequently teases Ochaco when she says that she knows Izuku's attitude changes and when the training ends, Mina teases her again for grabbing onto Izuku so hard in her attempt to save him which causes Ochaco, along with Izuku, to turn bright red in embarrassment.
Mina eventually confirms her suspicions following a random gift exchange, after realizing that Ochaco and Izuku had exchanged gifts and that Ochaco was safekeeping her gift (an All Might Christmas ornament) in her costume. Mina was subsequently ecstatic at the confirmation, but was surprised afterwards when Ochaco did not deny it this time around. After a session in which the class showcases their progress, she witnesses a touching exchange between Ochaco and Izuku in which the two bump their fists while thanking each other for making one another stronger, which she watches with much joyfulness for them.
For all intents and purposes, Mina is one of the staunchest supporters and hopefuls for an eventual relationship between Ochaco and Izuku.
Izuku Midoriya#
Mina and Izuku have rarely shared important interactions together, but when they do Mina has a playful bounce off of Izuku's muttering, though she doesn't seem to mind it. Their relationship strenghtens during the weeks leading up to the School Festival, when, interested in Mina's dance skills, Izuku asks her to teach him some dance movements that may be useful to his combat style, which Mina agrees.[1]
Mina seems to show respect and confidence towards Izuku, as when she and her teammates were nervous about their battle against Class 1-B, he was the one who encourages them, and they are counting on him to win the round.[2] She is also shown to care for him, as she asked if his Quirk was acting strange. They also work really well with each other, as both of them helped each other in defeating the Class 1-B students. After they won the fifth round in the Joint Training Battle, Mina teases both him and Ochaco for grabbing onto Izuku so hard in her attempt to save him, which causes both Ochaco and Izuku to turn bright red in embarrassment.[3] Although he is unaware, Mina supports him and Ochaco and hopes for them to end up together.
When he left U.A, he showed he trusted her by leaving a letter that detailed everything of his Quirk.
After battle between Izuku and Class 1-A, Mina pleaded Izuku to come back with them because she didn't want to lose anyone anymore, showing that she cares for him.[4]
Tsuyu Asui#
The two girls are friends, as they are often seen talking to each other; they are also on a first-name basis, further reinforcing their friendship. Tsuyu congratulated Mina on advancing to the tournament at the Sports Festival, even though she was angry at her lack of contribution. She later cheered her on enthusiastically from the stands when he saw her fight and was happy for her win against Yuga.
Mina was surprised by Tsuyu's field training with the Oki Mariner Crew and called her time there cool. Despite not being able to go to I-Island Expo preview, Mina still had fun with Tsuyu and Toru until the exhibition fully opened up. When Tsuyu participates in the raid against Shie Hassaikai, Mina is concerned for her and was thrilled and relieved when Tsuyu and the other students involved safely returned to the Academy.
Yuga Aoyama#
Outside of Izuku, Yuga seems to interact with Mina the most out of his other classmates. Mina often teases him about his stomach aches as a result of his Quirk and also managed to beat him with ease during the U.A. Sports Festival Arc. However, she did look apologetic when she saw that he was dazed from her punching and knocking him out.
A running gag is her interrupting him when he is arrogantly speaking about himself, often making him mad, but they don't seem to be on bad terms.
When learning that Yuga was the traitor who was responsible for the U.S.J. Incident and the Vanguard Action Squad Invasion, Mina was shocked and devastated by this news, being driven to tears by his treachery.[5] Despite this, she comes to understand alongside her classmates that Yuga didn't have a choice and agreed to help Yuga make amends by taking down All For One. Enraged by Yuga's downfall, Mina swears with the rest of 1-A that they'll defeat All For One with a look of fury on her face.[6]
Shoto Todoroki#
When the students were moved into the Heights Alliance, during the competition with the dorm rooms, when it was Shoto's turn to show his dorm room, Mina, along with the rest of the girls except Ochaco and Tsuyu, were getting ready to see his room. Mina is one of the girls stricken by his looks and thinks that Shoto is the most handsome boy in school. When he came back from one of his remedial lessons with bandages across his body, she expressed shock at the state of his "handsome face".
Denki Kaminari#
Mina and Denki are often seen together and are good friends. While Mina doesn't have much interaction with Denki as others, she shares a good chemistry with Denki in being the most comical students within other classmates. She is also often paired up with Denki due to them sharing bad grades prior to the exams. Because of this, they somewhat bonded due to them being the worst students in class in terms of grades with Mina often sharing the same idiotic flair with Denki, expecting to be positively let off the hook only to be let down into situations that are rather punishing. This is especially when they were partners during the First Term Final Exam where they had to fight Nezu and the Forest Training Camp Arc where they had stay behind with Aizawa for supplementary lessons. There are times on occasion where Mina is in need of correcting Denki like when Denki was treating Momo as his personal factory.
Kyoka Jiro#
They appear to be on good terms as they are often seen talking as seen in Vs. Hero Killer Arc talking about their internships. Both tease Ochaco for her affections towards Izuku and like the others, Mina was impressed by Kyoka's voice when she sang before the school festival and described her as "husky and sexy". When learning of Yuga's treachery, she leaned on Kyoka's shoulder while crying, demonstrating a level of support between both of them.[5]
Momo Yaoyorozu#
Mina and Momo are great friends and are constantly seen together outside of class hours.
Mina, alongside Kaminari confesses that she hadn’t studied at all for their Final Exams. Momo then drops into the mix, and offers her tutelage to the two, which cheers her up. She and Kaminari later seen arriving at the gate of Momo’s house with Mashirao, Hanta and Kyoka, and shocked by the now apparent size of Momo’s wealth. After the exam, she gladly thanks Momo for her help.
After deciding that live music would be a good fit for 1-A’s contribution to the U.A Festival, Momo offers herself for adding synth sounds to the music, revealing that she had experience- as well as interest in piano, which could easily be translated into keyboard. Mina mopes at this, as she’d originally planned for Momo to partake in the dance she was choreographing, and was upset to lose her. She then tells Momo she's okay of her leaving the dance squad because she’s so cute, though she remains amusingly saddened.
After the Paranormal Liberation War, Mina, Momo, Kirishima and Shoji go to visit Shoto in the hospital. Momo hugs Mina in an attempt to comfort her as they break down in tears, still mourning the death of Midnight.
Minoru Mineta#
Like the rest of the girls in Class 1-A, Mina despises Minoru's perverted attitude towards them and was rightly annoyed when the boy attempted to peek on her and the others through a peephole in the girls locker room.
Outside of this, Mina is well-aware of Minoru's naughty personality and has on occasion used this to motivate and or convince him. During the planning stage for the School Festival, Mina convinced a dispirited Minoru (who couldn't reach the guitar strings due to his small size) to take part by promising him a harem part in the performance, this caused Minoru to quickly come around while in joy and Mina later made good on her promise. Mina also tricked Minoru into leaving to assist someone with lost luggage after mentioning that the girl sounded really cute over the phone.[7] In the anime, Mina is also shown throwing a few playful teases to annoy Minoru.
She was jealous that Minoru got a higher grade than her at the exams, which meant he was more intelligent than her in spite of his behavior. Her words only gave him smug satisfaction.[8]
During the Joint Training Battle, Mina is teamed with Minoru alongside Ochaco and Izuku. Mina is thankful when Minoru uses Grape Buckler to shield her from Nirengeki Shoda's attack, although quickly becomes angry again when Minoru used the recoil of this attack to bounce right into her chest area. Mina responds by throwing Minoru with her Acid Layback, causing him to bounce around in a combination Ultimate Move: Grape-Pinky Combo Mineta-Bounce. Despite her team later securing victory, its clear that Mina was still angry at Minoru's scheme and demanded that Vlad King punish him for being “the worst”. Later on while classes 1-A and 1-B socialize in the dorm area, Mina subjects Minoru to the Ludovico Technique as punishment for his actions.
An instance of the two of them being friendly was seen at the end of Worlds Heroes Mission, with the two are shown happily jumping together in the end credits scene. Later, Mina comforts Minoru when he worries about the safety of Midnight.
Fumikage Tokoyami#
Mina and Fumikage first interacted during their fight at the Sports Festival. Mina was impressed by her Dark Shadow and she didn't get mad about losing to Fumikage and said it was fun.
They have shown good teamwork such as when they faced Gang Orca's Sidekicks in the Provisional Hero License Exam and during the students' counterattack against Nine's team on Nabu Island, where together they faced Slice.
Mina helped him confront Slice by using his Acid on the Villain's hair and when Slice seriously injured Mina, Fumikage became angry and unleashed his Quirk against the Villain. After the fight, while being transported on a stretcher, Mina smiles weakly and lifts her thumb as Fumikage does the same to her Dark Shadow.
Toru Hagakure#
The two had some interaction with each other. Toru was the one suggesting the girls to meet up at the school pool over vacation when Mina complained she didn't want to spend the summer doing nothing fun. They notably cooperated closely during the Provisional Hero License Exam, where they regrouped with other classmates to pass the first phase together. During the “Room King/Queen Contest”, Toru and Mina also expressed the most intensity/excitement over the event. When Fumikage stands over his door as to prevent entrance, the two push him aside and enter. When class resumed afted the Final War, Toru's face was shown to Class 1-A as Aoyama used his laser quirk, to which Mina responded by happily hugging Toru and calling her cute, making Toru feel embarrassed.
League of Villains#
Gigantomachia#
Mina first met Gigantomachia when she was in middle school. The villain was asking her friends for directions to the Springer Agency, and when they didn't give him directions, he grew angry. It was then that Mina intervened, bravely stepping in and making up some directions. When he left, Mina quickly fell to the ground and broke down in tears of fear.[9]
The memory of this encounter was very haunting for Mina, and during the Paranormal Liberation War, upon recognizing Gigantomachia's voice, she instantly tenses up with fear while some tears come into her eyes, and fortunately Eijiro came in and saved her from the behemoth.[10]
