Family#

David Shield#

It is noted by Izuku Midoriya that Melissa highly respects her father, seeing as how she wants to become like him: someone who indirectly saves people by helping heroes with support items. Upon learning about how David helps All Might save people with his inventions, she becomes inspired by this and tries her best to become a support engineer herself.[1]

Her love for her father is also shown when she tries to save him and when she instantly forgives him, even after learning that he was the one who planned the villains' attack.[2]

Friends#

All Might#

Melissa first met All Might when she was a child and came to pick up a new costume from her father, and seeing how it protected him and hearing how her father was a hero to All Might inspired her to become a support engineer. Melissa would get several visits from her "Uncle Might" growing up, and during her third year at I-Island Academy, she gives him a surprise invite over e-mail for the upcoming I-Expo preview, and later happily reunites with after several years apart.[3] She's also expressed frequent concern for his safety when he engages in combat, as seen when he's crushed by Wolfram,[2] and later when he was at All For One's mercy.[4]

Following the fallout of the Paranormal Liberation War, Melissa would frequently collaborate with All Might on several support items such as the Armored All Might, and later watches his fight with All For One.

Izuku Midoriya#

Shortly after they first met on I-Island, Melissa was quick to take note of Izuku's appearance, describing aspects such as his hero costume and the scars on his hand, and leaving the boy embarrassed from her getting so close to him. She later toured him around the I-Island Expo at the request of her father, and the two quickly bonded over their similar interests in Heroes and support tech. After observing Izuku's performance in the faux villain course, Melissa gave him the Full Gauntlet in order to help handle his usage of One For All. She also revealed to Izuku that she is Quirkless, and that she shares a goal similar to him in wanting to save people's lives. They worked together in trying to save the island and she tried to defend him from Swordkil's assault but was knocked aside, though seeing her hurt caused Izuku to angrily punch the villain away.[2]

During the Final War, Melissa would be one of several others watching Izuku's fight against Tomura and joins in on the spectators in telling him to "Do your best!" as he enters his final charge against "All For One".[5]

Later on, Melissa would become be a key developer for a new exo-suit modelled after the Armored All Might and the data it collected, which would later be completed and gifted to Izuku and allow him to return to active hero duty eight years after the Final War.[6]

Ochaco Uraraka, Momo Yaoyorozu, and Kyoka Jiro#

Melissa's initial meeting with Ochaco, Momo, and Kyoka is somewhat awkward due to the latter three suspecting her and Izuku dating each other. At Melissa's request, however, all four girls, as well as Izuku, went to a restaurant for some tea. Melissa bonded fairly easily with Ochaco, Momo, and Kyoka, who were excited when she agreed to give them a tour of I-Island. On her part, Melissa admires the three, as well as their other classmates, for aspiring to be future heroes; Ochaco, Momo, and Kyoka are both humbled and embarrassed, pointing that she didn't need to make that remark.

Melissa, Ochaco, Momo, and Kyoka cooperated in thwarting Wolfram's invasion; Ochaco used her Zero Gravity to propel Melissa and Izuku higher in the building to reach the 200th floor. Although she befriended all three girls, Melissa arguably grew closest to Ochaco, having been on a first-name basis with her.

Other Class 1-A students#

Melissa admires and respects Izuku's other classmates as heroes and assists them in saving the island to prove her own worth as a hero, which the group accepts. Tenya thanks Melissa for inviting him and his classmates to the reception party, and vows to be on time for it and makes sure his class leaves a strong impression. Due to their shared perverted nature, Denki and Minoru try to convince Izuku to introduce them to Melissa, who they consider a "hottie." Later on, both are wowed by the dress she wore for the reception party.
