Before being turned into a Nomu, Hood was once a street punk who made a living as an underground fighter.[1] At some point, All For One got hold of him, giving him to Kyudai Garaki to transform him into a Nomu, making various modifications and improvements on his body, and adding new Quirks to him.

Underground Masquerade Arc#

At some point in time, All For One organized the Underground Masquerade, an illegal cage fighting tournament, to carry out many of his illicit businesses, but most importantly, to search for Quirks worth stealing. Due to the actions of the Pro Hero O'Clock, who participated in the tournament under the persona of The Ripper in order to obtain clues of his drug trafficking, and at that time hero-in-training Rumi Usagiyama, who messed with the tournament organization, All For One released Quirk-booster gas that makes those who breathe it go crazy.

With the help of Kurogiri and his Warp Gate, he steals those Quirks that interest him, and to prevent anyone from fleeing, All For One locks all the doors to the passages and emergency stairwell, deploying his subordinates to ensure that no one can flee; one among them being Hood. Hood was not a High-End Nomu yet, but he had been modified enough to be a very dangerous foe.[2][3]

Due to the dangerous situation, O'Clock allied with Rumi and the underground fighter Kendo Rappa, and they made their way towards the exit until Hood appeared to stop them. Kendo was the first to attack with a barrage of punches using his Quirk, but Hood effortlessly dodged all the strikes and then counterattacked by stretching his arm, knocking Kendo down. Rumi ran to attack Hood with a big kick, but he instead stretched his leg out, knocking her into Kendo.

O'Clock then arrived, using a knife to slice Hood's. He told the other two to stand by, as he prepared to continue fighting. Hood healed the wounds, and recognized his opponent as O'Clock.[4] He dueled the Hero, using his Quirks to extend his arm to try and attack, while the latter used his Overclock Quirk to quickly dodge. Hood's fists and attacks caused chaos to erupt in the arena as the stage was destroyed and the attendees tried to run and flee. Rumi and Kendo returned to provide backup for O'Clock, with him telling them to execute Plan B.

O'Clock observed the disguised Hood's abilities, noticing how his body utilizes cellular propagation at lightning speed, allowing him to not only allow stretch and transform his limbs, but also heal and alter its structure. He also noticed his martial arts vibe appears to be drilled into his muscle memory, and that said fighting style isn't compatible with his Quirk, forcing his wind-up attacks to have a lag. O'Clock used this delay to his advantage, using his Quirk to predict his attacks or create an opening to slice up his muscles, not creating anything lethal, but doing enough damage to keep him held in place.

As Rumi spd her way to the exit, Hood noticed this and tried to grab a hold of her, however, O'Clock and Kendo managed to provide enough hits on the man to distract him long enough for her to escape. Thanks to this, Rumi was able to contact O'Clock's allied police force, and ask them to call All Might.[5] With Rumi successfully escaping, O'Clock told Kendo All Might should be on his way and they should find somewhere to hide, but Kendo refused, reiterating that if Hood was here for a fight, he was happy to indulge, forcing O'Clock to have to stick back and try to help and fend off the creature before the Number 1 Hero arrived.

During all this time, Kurogiri and All For One had been watching the combat through the security cameras. Upon verifying that Rumi had escaped and All Might was on the way, Kurogiri advised All For One to retrieve Hood before his nemesis arrived to not lose their valuable test subject. However, All For One declined. He wanted to enjoy the match a little more and have a chance to steal O'Clock's Quirk.

All For One used Kurogiri's Warp Gate to placed his hand on several of the attendees to the Masquerade, using his powers to transform them into violent instant villains, who broke out of the parking structure, and rampaged in the city. With this action, All For One hoped to keep All Might busy long enough to achieve his goal.[6]

Hood reworked his body to increased his mass muscle and strength in order to crush his opponents, but his attacks became more predictable to deal with. Attacking in coordination, O'Clock and Kendo began to overwhelm Hood, until the modified villain grabbed a piece of the ring cage and used it to attack, knocking Kendo down. He was about to crush O'Clock with his improvised weapon, but at that moment Rumi returned and attacked Hood by surprise, while reporting that All Might had already defeated all the other villains in a flash.

Hood got back up enraged, swearing that he was going to kill them all in order to become the strongest. However, Kurogiri used his Quirk to quickly retrieve Hood, as the few seconds their diversion gave them got wasted by Rumi's sneak attack, allowing All Might to arrive, much to All For One's irritation. Hood protested, ensuring that he could still fight, but his complaints were ignored, and Kurogiri warped him to their secret hideout.[7]

Once there, Hood began rampaging the place, furious that his fight had been interrupted, until he was stopped and restrained by All For One with ease. The villain expressed his disappointment in him, telling him that he failed to properly coordinate his new abilities with his fighting style. After using his Quirks to shut Hood down, All For One ordered Kurogiri to transport him over to Doctor Garaki for further modifications.[8]

Synopsis#

Pro Hero Arc#

Over the next several years, Kyudai Garaki would continue to modify Hood until he made him one of his twelve High-End Nomu he keeps in stasis in his secret lab, until he can test out them. Opportunity appears when he allows Tomura Shigaraki and his allies to meet him in person. After hearing Dabi had found a potential ally for the League of Villains, he asks Dabi to help him test one of the High-End, choosing Hood for it.[9]

The ally turns out to be Hawks, the number 2 hero, although something Dabi doesn't know is that he is actually a commission spy trying to infiltrate the League. He and Dabi devise a plan to have a Nomu fight against a hero in a factory near the coast, a confrontation that will cause some media repercussion where a not excessively powerful Nomu would be used so that there would be too much trouble defeating him.

However, neither of them fully trusts the other as they have their own plans. Hawks decides to choose Endeavor as the hero, meanwhile Dabi decides to use Hood, carrying out the attack ahead of schedule in the middle of the city.[10] Hood is hidden at Hidamari Kindergarten until Dabi releases him to face the hero Hawks chose.[11]

Hood flies to the restaurant where Hawks and Endeavor are meeting, as he is spotted by the heroes. Hood attacks by smashing through the window, asking which of them is the strongest. Hood prepares to attack but Endeavor takes the initiative and uses his super move Jet Burn to get Hood out of the building. Hood's right hand, which was gripping the wall, is torn off and left clinging to the wall. Endeavor flies outside and prepares to confront the creature.[12]

Hood mocks Endeavor's attempt to hurt him as he begins regenerating the damage and regrows his right hand. As Endeavor launches another attack, Hood evades with a quick burst of flight and grabs Endeavor; throwing him through the restaurant by elongating the muscles on his arm. Hood continues the assault by swinging its arm and almost causing the top floors of the building to collapse completely.

Hawks appears after having rescued the injured civilians and stabs Hood with a volley of feathers. Endeavor follows up with another attack that cuts through Hood's body in multiple places. Hood comments that the battle is getting interesting and shows no concern over his injuries.[13]

Endeavor launches an attack that Hood flies away from. The attack completely demolishes a good portion of the building. Two heroes use their Quirks to help Endeavor from below on the street. However, their attacks do not faze Hood. Hood then releases multiple Nomu into the streets. When Endeavor doesn't make a move, Hood asks Endeavor if he isn't going to attack anymore. Hood then rushes Endeavor, wanting to test his new strength on the hero. Endeavor then unleashes Prominence Burn, which carbonizes Hood's body, but not his head. Hood regenerates quickly and strikes Endeavor. Endeavor falls to the ground defeated, as well as a damaged eye. Hood then asks if there is a stronger hero around.[14]

As Hood stands over his fallen opponent, a still conscious Endeavor used his flames to lift himself and he attempted to attack High End. However, Hood easily evaded the strike and sent the Pro Hero flying into a building, noting the latter was done. Endeavor refused to give up and used his Quirk to project himself after the Nomu who wondered if he had regeneration. Hood watched as Hawks used his feathers to enhance Endeavor's speed, allowing Endeavor to be launched at the villain.[15]

Thrust by Hawks' feathers, Endeavor used the speed to attack High End sending them both through the air. As he was thrust through the air, Hood began to take on the behavior of a wild beast as its regenerative powers were still active while it was burned. Endeavor had Hawks give him more speed to help and used the speed boost to send him and the Nomu far from the city. With nothing to stand his way, Endeavor used a more powerful version of Prominence Burn, dubbed "PLUS ULTRA Prominence Burn," to destroy the High-End for good. Hood was left as a scorched corpse on the ground as Endeavor emerged from the destruction and did a pose, similar to All Might's to show he was victorious.[16]

Dabi attempted to recover Hood's corpse and take advantage of his destruction by attacking Endeavor and Hawks but Mirko interfered before he could attack. Unable to complete his objective, Dabi was warped away by Garaki leaving Hood's corpse in the custody of the heroes and the police.[10]
