Ryuichi Gojiyama is an Instant Villain in My Hero Academia: Vigilantes.
Appearance#
Ryuichi's true appearance isn't seen, as he was only ever shown under the effects of his Quirk. However, what is known is that he appears as a dinosaur-like kaiju resembling Godzilla, standing at a height of 15 meters.
He appears as a bipedal theropod-like creature with reptilian features resembling carnivorous dinosaurs, mainly the Tyrannosaurus rex, a scaly body, several jagged spikes on his back that reach his tail, a set of horns on his snout, digitigrade legs, Tyrannosaurus-like feet, and a slightly horizontal posture. His mouth is very large and rounded, and he also possesses a set of claws on his fingers, making him resemble the Tristar iteration of the character, also known as Zilla.
In the anime, his entire body is grey and is redesigned with more humanoid proportions and a rounded snout. He also possesses four toes, an upright posture, and more human-like arms and hands, making Ryuichi more closely resemble his inspiration.
Due to using Trigger, his entire tongue is black. In the anime, only the tip of his tongue is discolored, like most Trigger users shown in the series.
Personality#
Ryuichi was shown to be a wild beast who wreaked havoc upon the city, allowing him to destroy many buildings. Due to being high on Trigger, he couldn't think straight and acted more beast than man.
Synopsis#
Senpai Arc#
Ryuichi's origins are unknown, as he had recently appeared in the city. He was turned into a gigantic kaiju by Kuin Hachisuka and wreaked havoc in Naruhata, causing minor destruction to buildings and damaging the Marukane Department Store. The beast was confronted by Captain Celebrity, who was the nearest Pro Hero. Celebrity landed many hits on the creature and caused it to fall onto nearby buildings. He was shortly afterwards apprehended after presumably reverting back to a human.[2]
Abilities#
Quirk#
Kaiju: This Quirk allows Ryuichi to transform into a gigantic dinosaur-like beast. The normal effects of this Quirk are unknown because it is only seen whilst Ryuichi is on Trigger, but what is known is that he grows to large heights and becomes more beast than human, increasing both his strength and endurance.

Trivia#
- Ryuichi's name contains the kanji for "Safeguard, protect", "Buddhist temple", "mountain", "dragon", and "one".
- Ryuichi's appearance and Quirk are a parody and reference to Godzilla.
- Fittingly, Ryuichi was designed to function more like a natural disaster than an actual character, similar to Godzilla's role and what it allegorizes in the bulk of its appearances.[3]
- Kuin's Trigger experiments on Ryuichi could also be a reference to the character, as most iterations of Godzilla are born out of radioactive material entering their habitat and heavily mutating them into their current state.
- Additionally, parts of Ryuichi's surname are homophonous to parts of the Japanese pronunciation of Godzilla.
- Ryuichi's roar in the anime is a modified Zilla roar from the 1998 TriStar Godzilla, and is mixed with the sound effects of a TIE Fighter from the Star Wars franchise.
- Coincidentally, Ryuichi's manga design more resembles Zilla, with its anatomy being more in-line with theropod species of dinosaur like that version of the kaiju.
