Christopher Skyline

Christopher Skyline, also known as the Playboy Hero: Captain Celebrity (and abbreviated as CC), is a Pro Hero in My Hero Academia: Vigilantes. He was the former top-ranked Hero in America.

Appearance#

Christopher is a very tall, well-built man with a cleft chin, angular nose and a sharp, chiseled jaw. His hair is styled like a mohawk of blond hair swept back along the top of his head, and he has small, downward-tilting light blue eyes with quite long eyelashes.

His hero costume consists of a cerulean skin-tight bodysuit, cut off at his knees and halfway own his upper arms, with yellow trims and a tick-like logo with a red star in the center stamped onto his chest, a thick black line running down each side of his suit. He wears matching shin-pads and shoulder-pads, as well as a yellow belt with a large buckle, a long red cape and a dark blue-tinted visor.

Personality#

Christopher is very much a stereotypical American jock, arrogant and self-confident to a fault with an overwhelming love of attention and praise. As a result, he's often prone to showing off for the cameras even during a crisis, and is reluctant to deploy before his media team is in place. Regardless, his wife has described him as "too kind", and his constant showing off and bombastic personality are in part due to an honest desire to make people smile and win their affection. He is rarely malicious and truly heroic in a crisis, but his poor judge of character, lack of tact, and inability to be authentic often leads him to coming off as superficial and false.

He is also a well-known playboy and a flirt, despite being married, something that has earned him nicknames such as "Captain Catastrophe" and "the Flying Stallion". This flirtatious attitude has also led to several lawsuits, to the point where his wife Pamela has pretty much made a business with them. This seems mostly down to his obsession with his alpha male image and desire for attention. Indeed, Makoto Tsukauchi puts most of his troubles down to entrapment within ridiculous scandals and denying actively cheating, though his lack of self-reflection means that he's often not even aware when his behavior could be considered inappropriate. This isn't helped by him being notably macho and a playboy, being eager to carry pretty ladies to safety but showing great reluctance to be seen rescuing men.

His controversial reputation became so bad that Christopher could no longer do hero work in his home country of America, causing him to travel to Japan so he could try rebuilding his career there. Without Pamela to keep him in line however, he soon started to slip back to his womanizing nature while on the job. However, spending a year under Makoto's management and learning that he was going to be a father prompted him to stop his skirt chasing ways and become someone a child could respect. After an incident involving a Villain's suicide-bombing, he was forced to compromise his own safety for the sake of civilians caught in the crossfire, which left him rather humbled. While some of his extravagant qualities have remained, Christopher has managed to see his own flaws and improve himself, both as a person and a hero.

Abilities#

Overall Abilities: In addition to formerly being ranked as the top Hero in the United States, Christopher was widely recognized as an exceptionally powerful and experienced Pro Hero whose strength placed him well above the majority of ordinary Heroes. His Quirk, Flight, grants him exceptional aerial mobility alongside an aerodynamic barrier that protects his body and anything he is touching, allowing Christopher to combine flight, defense, rescue capabilities, and overwhelming physical force. Shortly after arriving in Japan, Christopher simultaneously rescued Koichi from colliding with a truck and apprehended the motorcycle Villain he had been pursuing. He later defeated the gigantic Ryuichi Gojiyama in direct combat, and footage of his career in America showed him carrying an enormous cruise liner through the air.

Despite his tremendous capabilities, Christopher initially had several major shortcomings as a Hero. He was arrogant, reckless, obsessed with publicity, and frequently prioritized performing for cameras over immediately helping those in danger. His behavior, numerous scandals, and lawsuits eventually damaged his career in America so severely that he relocated to Japan. While working there under Makoto Tsukauchi's management, Christopher gradually became more responsible and began repairing his reputation. After learning that Pamela was pregnant with their child, he resolved to become someone his child could respect, marking a major change in his attitude toward Heroism.

Christopher's improved abilities and mentality were displayed prominently during the Sky Egg Bombing. Number 6 specifically studied Flight beforehand and discovered that Christopher's aerodynamic barrier becomes weaker around his own body when he extends more of it to protect others. Exploiting this weakness, Number 6 arranged an attack where Christopher would be forced to support the critically damaged Tokyo Sky Egg while simultaneously being assaulted by a specialized Bomber. Despite the situation being deliberately designed to kill him, Christopher continued holding the structure in place with thousands of civilians inside while repeatedly enduring the creature's explosive attacks. Even after Koichi arrived to assist him, Christopher understood that neither of them could abandon their positions: Koichi had to keep the Bomber's attacks away, while Christopher had to continue supporting the Sky Egg.

Even after reaching his physical limit, Christopher continued placing others ahead of himself. Once Best Jeanist and the other Pro Heroes secured the Sky Egg, the exhausted Christopher finally lost the strength required to remain airborne and began falling hundreds of meters toward the ground. When Koichi instinctively jumped after him, Christopher, despite being too exhausted to fly, gathered enough remaining strength to activate Flight's aerodynamic barrier around Koichi instead of himself in an attempt to protect the younger man from the impact. Christopher's actions during the incident contributed heavily to saving thousands of people and caused his reputation to improve dramatically, with civilians gathering outside the hospital to celebrate him and fellow Pro Heroes publicly praising his actions.

Following his return to the United States, Christopher continued his career and eventually established the Captain Celebrity Corporation in New York City. Years later, after the Naruhata Lockdown, Christopher returned to Japan and used his status and organization to assist Koichi when the latter faced legal consequences for his years of vigilantism. Christopher declared Koichi to be his sidekick and, alongside Makoto, arranged for him to become formally associated with his Hero agency. Koichi subsequently moved to America and became the Pro Hero The Skycrawler, operating from Christopher's agency as "CCC-02". Christopher remained active himself, later rescuing Koichi from the Hudson River after the younger Hero successfully prevented a passenger aircraft from crashing into New York.

Skilled Melee Combatant: Christopher is highly proficient in close-quarters combat, primarily combining the mobility and power provided by Flight with direct physical attacks. Shortly after arriving in Japan, he confronted the gigantic Ryuichi Gojiyama and overwhelmed the Villain through repeated punches before defeating him. His ability to freely maneuver through the air allows him to attack opponents from multiple directions and rapidly close the distance between himself and a target. Christopher's fighting style is primarily based around straightforward melee combat, taking advantage of his tremendous physical power and the protection afforded by his aerodynamic barrier to exchange blows with opponents that would pose an extreme threat to less durable Heroes.

However, Christopher's earlier fighting style could be reckless. During his battle with Ryuichi, his careless handling of the enormous Villain caused substantial collateral damage and forced Koichi to avoid falling debris. Over time, Christopher became considerably more conscientious about protecting others while fighting. This is displayed during Number 6's attacks, where he precisely redistributed his aerodynamic barrier toward civilians and later devoted virtually all of his strength to maintaining the Sky Egg rather than attempting to fight the Bomber directly.

Enhanced Reflexes: Christopher possesses excellent reaction speed, allowing him to respond almost immediately to unexpected dangers. Upon his introduction, he intercepted Koichi moments before the latter collided with an oncoming truck while simultaneously capturing the motorcycle Villain responsible. When Number 6 used a Bomber to abduct the Sisters of Saint Lila's Academy and suddenly detonated it as Christopher approached, Christopher reacted quickly enough to rescue the girls and spread his aerodynamic barrier around them before the explosion could harm them. Although doing so weakened his personal protection and caused him to suffer injuries, every civilian he shielded emerged unharmed.

Christopher retained these instincts even under extreme physical strain. During the Sky Egg incident, he caught Koichi when the latter unexpectedly lost his grip and began falling while Christopher himself was simultaneously occupied with supporting the structure. Later, despite already exceeding his limits and being incapable of flight, Christopher immediately reacted when Koichi jumped after him and used what remained of his power to surround Koichi with his protective barrier.

Indomitable Will: Christopher possesses considerable willpower when lives are genuinely at stake. Although he originally approached Hero work with an excessive concern for fame and public approval, his experiences in Japan caused him to develop a much stronger sense of responsibility. This change became apparent when he protected the Sisters from a Bomber's explosion despite knowing that extending Flight's barrier around them would reduce his own defenses. Rather than prioritize his appearance afterward, Christopher accepted the injuries he suffered protecting them, an action that Makoto considered representative of the Hero he was capable of becoming.

Christopher's willpower was demonstrated most prominently during the Tokyo Sky Egg attack. Number 6 deliberately created a situation that exploited the primary weakness of Flight: Christopher could either maintain sufficient protection around himself or spread his power across the damaged structure to protect everyone else. Christopher chose the latter, continuing to hold up the Sky Egg while the specialized Bomber repeatedly struck his increasingly vulnerable body with explosive punches. Rather than release the structure to properly defend himself, Christopher resolved to endure the attacks for as long as necessary, reasoning that he only needed to keep the situation under control until other Heroes could arrive.

While enduring the assault alongside Koichi, Christopher reflected on his failures throughout his career, including his damaged relationships, legal troubles, and the people who had taken advantage of him. Despite his history of making mistakes, he realized that there was nothing complicated about the situation before him: thousands of people were in danger, and protecting them was unquestionably the right thing to do. This realization allowed Christopher to continue smiling even as his body approached its limit. Once reinforcements finally secured the structure, Christopher was so exhausted that he could no longer sustain Flight and fell from the Sky Egg. Believing he might die, his primary concern was whether he had finally done something his wife and child could be proud of. When Koichi endangered himself trying to save him, Christopher nevertheless used the last of his available strength to protect Koichi rather than himself.

Leadership and Mentorship: Although Christopher was initially self-centered and reluctant to accept assistance, his experiences in Japan taught him the importance of relying on others. During the Sky Egg Bombing, Christopher accepted Koichi's assistance despite initially ordering him to leave, quickly understanding that Koichi's long-range attacks could prevent the Bomber from reaching him while Christopher continued supporting the structure. Rather than attempting to solve the entire crisis by himself, Christopher coordinated with Koichi and continued buying time until more specialized Pro Heroes arrived.

This development remained important to Christopher after returning to America. Before leaving Japan, he openly acknowledged that when he needed help in the future, he would draw strength from the people around him rather than attempting to handle everything alone. Christopher eventually became the head of his own Hero agency, the Captain Celebrity Corporation, with Makoto continuing as his manager. His relationship with Koichi also evolved considerably: despite originally dismissing him as an amateur Vigilante, Christopher came to respect his courage and repeatedly assisted him when he was endangered.

Years later, Christopher went considerably further by using his influence to protect Koichi following the Naruhata Lockdown. When Koichi's unlawful Vigilante activities placed him in danger of legal consequences, Christopher personally returned and claimed that Koichi had been acting as his sidekick, while the Captain Celebrity Corporation offered him protection. Christopher subsequently employed Koichi officially, allowing him to move to New York and begin a legitimate career as the Pro Hero The Skycrawler. By the end of Vigilantes, Christopher had therefore developed from a Hero primarily concerned with his own celebrity into an established agency leader capable of supporting another Hero's career, much as Makoto and the people he met in Japan had once helped rehabilitate his own.

Quirk#

Flight (飛行, Hikō): Christopher's Quirk allows him to levitate and fly at high speeds. More specifically, Flight surrounds Christopher and whatever he is in direct contact with inside an aerodynamic barrier that protects against cold, heat, and physical harm. Christopher possesses fine control over this barrier and can extend its protection to other people or objects he is touching, allowing him to safely carry passengers while airborne or shield others from otherwise dangerous attacks. Despite its simple name, Flight grants Christopher an extremely versatile combination of mobility, protection, and physical power that makes him one of the most formidable Pro Heroes seen in Vigilantes.

Christopher was so proficient with Flight that he was introduced as the top-ranked Hero from the United States. His Quirk allows him to perform tremendous physical feats while flying, including carrying an enormous cruise liner, overpowering gigantic villains, and supporting the critically damaged Tokyo Sky Egg to prevent the structure from collapsing while thousands of civilians remained inside. Even while forced to hold the building in place, Christopher continued enduring the repeated explosive attacks of a Bomber specifically designed to kill him.

However, Christopher's aerodynamic barrier has a significant weakness. The protection provided by Flight is not unlimited, and the more of his barrier he extends around other people or objects, the less protection remains around his own body. Number 6 discovered this weakness after Christopher extended his barrier around several girls to protect them from a Bomber's explosion, causing Christopher himself to sustain injuries. This weakness became especially dangerous during the Tokyo Sky Egg incident, as Christopher had to devote himself to supporting the damaged structure while simultaneously enduring continuous attacks.

  • Immense Strength: Captain Celebrity possesses tremendous physical strength when using Flight. Early in his appearance, footage showed Christopher carrying an enormous cruise liner through the air, and he was capable of physically overwhelming a gigantic, kaiju-like villain with his blows. His greatest display of strength occurred during the attack on the Tokyo Sky Egg, where an explosion critically damaged the structure and threatened to bring it down with thousands of civilians still inside. Christopher single-handedly held the damaged building in place, remaining in that position even while a specialized Bomber repeatedly attacked him.
  • Immense Durability: The aerodynamic barrier generated by Flight gives Christopher extraordinary resistance to physical damage as well as environmental extremes. The barrier protects him from heat and cold during high-altitude flight and allows him to withstand powerful impacts and explosions. During the Tokyo Sky Egg attack, the detonation of one Bomber barely affected him, and Christopher later endured repeated explosive punches from a specialized, regenerating Bomber while unable to properly defend himself because he was occupied with holding the damaged structure together.
  • Immense Speed: Flight grants Christopher exceptional aerial speed and mobility. During his introduction, he intercepted Koichi before the latter could collide with a truck while simultaneously apprehending the fleeing motorcycle villain he had been pursuing. Christopher can rapidly cross large distances through the air, pursue flying targets, and maneuver while carrying other people. He was also fast enough to reach several endangered girls and extend Flight's protective barrier around them immediately before a Bomber detonated, successfully shielding all of them from the explosion.
  • Immense Stamina: Christopher possesses considerable stamina when using Flight. During the Tokyo Sky Egg incident, he continuously supported the damaged structure while enduring repeated explosive attacks from a Bomber, remaining conscious and maintaining his Quirk long enough for the other Pro Heroes to secure the building. Only after prolonged exertion and accumulated injuries did Christopher finally exhaust himself to the point that he could no longer fly. Even then, while falling hundreds of meters, he managed to make one final effort to activate his aerodynamic barrier around Koichi in an attempt to protect him from the impact.
