Quirk Marriages are marriages that began to appear after Quirks manifested in society, sometime during the second and third generation of Quirk users.
Description#
Quirk Marriages were arranged with the sole purpose of choosing and/or enhancing a specific Quirk to be inherited down the bloodline, as a child will either inherit the father's Quirk, the mother's Quirk, or a new Quirk that's a combination of the two. They became a problem when Quirks became widespread as people would select partners in their desire to conceive powerful children. As a result, many were forced into relationships under the guise of old-fashioned arranged marriages.[1]
Attempting to create "custom children" solely for the sake of experimenting with superpowers was quickly deemed as unethical by society. Nowadays, Quirk Marriages are regarded as a taboo and outdated practice.[2]
Despite the practice being frowned upon, there are still instances of it in recent times, mostly for personal interest. Enji Todoroki arranged a Quirk Marriage with the Himura family's daughter, Rei Himura, desiring a child powerful enough to surpass All Might. In return, the struggling Himura family were interested in Enji's wealth and status as the No. 2 Hero, and Rei agreed to marry Enji to support her family. While their marriage was not out of love, they maintained a healthy relationship in their early years as they started a family, but Enji's obsession with surpassing All Might and his worsening behavior eventually drove them apart.

Enji and Rei Todoroki#
- Toya Todoroki
- Blueflame: A Quirk that generates blue flames with greater power than Enji's Hellflame, but inherited Rei's resistance to cold instead of Enji's resistance to heat, severely limiting his endurance.
- Fuyumi Todoroki
- Frost: A Quirk that's almost the same as Rei's ice Quirk.
- Natsuo Todoroki
- Frost: A Quirk that's almost the same as Rei's ice Quirk.
- Shoto Todoroki
- Half-Cold Half-Hot: A Quirk that generates the flames of Enji's Hellflame and the ice of Rei's Frost Quirk, splitting the power right down the middle between his left and right sides respectively.
