Synopsis#
Pro Hero Arc#
Crust is introduced during the announcing of the Hero Billboard Chart JP, the top hero rankings of the years second semester.[2] After Ryukyu's speech, where she confesses that she doesn't consider herself worthy of her position, moved by her words, Crust tries to cheer Ryukyu up. The presenter asks him to wait his turn.
When it's his turn, Crust cries over All Might's retirement and his absence during the Kamino Incident, and claims that he will rise up to any challenge he's faced with and do his best.[3]
Paranormal Liberation War Arc#
By the end of March, many Heroes across Japan are rallied by the Hero Public Safety Commission to take down the recently formed Paranormal Liberation Front with the merge of the League of Villains and the Meta Liberation Army. They have info about the main hideouts of the villain organization thanks to Hawks. Crust is assigned to the Jaku General Hospital raid team along with several other Pro Heroes.[4]
Before the raid started, Crust participates with other heroes in a meeting where Detective Naomasa informs them about Dr. Kyudai Garaki, the current board chairman of the Hospital. Naomasa informs that he is an ally of Tomura Shigaraki and the creator of the Nomu and that there is a section of the hospital that only he can access. Upon reaching their destined locations, the Heroes all launch their move to take down the Paranormal Liberation Front once and for all.[4][5]
The raid begins, and while Endeavor and a few others quickly encounter Dr. Garaki in the corridors, other heroes are responsible for evacuating the hospital. It turns out that the Garaki they had captured is nothing but a decoy, and the real doctor is in a secret laboratory, who decides to free a horde of Nomus to face the heroes. Mirko decides to go on ahead in hopes of trying to locate the location of the lab, being followed by Crust and other heroes.[6]
Mirko arrives at the laboratory but she does it alone due to her speed. Crust rushes through the morgue to catch up to Mirko, but finds in each corridor lots of Nomu lying in wait. He does manage to find a passageway leading outside, so getting in through the morgue isn't the only way. Crust prepares himself to fight the Nomu in order to join Mirko in finding Kyudai.
Crust defeats the lesser Nomu and finally arrives at the lab, where he finds that Garaki has released five High-End Nomus to stop Mirko’s rampage. One of the creatures, Chubs, recognizes him and attacks him, blocking the entrance to the laboratory.[7] Three heroes including X-Less catch up to Crust's position, where he's trying to hold back the massive Nomu with just his Shield Quirk.
Crust tells them that they must continue on because there are more High-Ends up ahead with Mirko, so they must help her, fearing for the worst as she's facing four of these monsters alone. Crust increases the shield-like protrusions on his arms to pierce the Nomu. However, Chubs resists the attack, claiming it won't be enough.[8] Despite fighting altogether, Crust and his team are unable to get past the large High-End Nomus and back into the laboratory.
It continues to spawn mouths and fight the heroes back despite all four of them using their Quirks on the monster in succession. Fortunately for them, Endeavor, Eraser Head and Present Mic reach their position, and Eraser Head uses his Erasure to cancel the Nomu's Quirks. Crust releases more of his Shields to push the Nomu back, and Endeavor goes at it with a Flashfire Fist: Jet Burn, finally allowing to expel Chubs the entrance and raid the laboratory, as Crust tells him to leave the Nomu to them and go to help Mirko.
The Heroes fight against the High-Ends that are inside, having Crust to use his Quirk to protect his teammates from the attack of the monsters. While they fight, Mirko manages to damage the capsule where Tomura Shigaraki is in, before being seriously injured and repelled by a Nomu.[9]
Mirko reports to Crust, who is relieved she is alive, that Tomura is inside a capsule, and that it probably has a remote device to wake him up, similar to the Nomu starting to move after a switch was flipped. She tells them to not let Tomura wake up because he isn't a simple villain anymore. Eraser Head yells to X-Less and Present Mic to go on ahead.
The High-End Ribby tries to stop them but Crust knocks it off balance using his Ultimate Move: Shoot Shield. Kyudai tries to wake up Tomura to wake up, but before he can though, Present Mic uses his Quirk to shatter the capsule completely, leaving Kyudai aghast, before punching the doctor in retaliation.
Soon the lab is overrun by a huge force of heroes, defeating the High-End Nomus in the process. Facing his defeat, a heartbroken Dr. Garaki declares that the Devil's Dream has finally ended.[10]
However, against all odds, Tomura Shigaraki awakens,[11] despite having previously verified that his heart was not beating. Seeing the situation, he immediately uses his decay, which spreads rapidly through the laboratory, disintegrating everything in its path. The laboratory begins to crumble, and the heroes try to run away as fast as they can from the destruction.
Crust watches as one of the High-End Nomus grabs Shota by the leg as it disintegrates. Crust uses one of his Shoot Shield to cut the Nomu's hand to save him, but he's caught by the decaying wave. Shota can only watch in horror as Crust crumbles to dust, smiling and giving a thumbs up. Thanks to his sacrifice, Shota is one of the few heroes who manage to escape from the hospital before it ends up being completely destroyed.[12]
While fighting Tomura, Shota does not intend to allow Crust's sacrifice to be in vain.[13] After the battle with Paranormal Liberation Front as the heroes has fallen, Crust was later counted among the list of casualties.
