Accelerator Rings is the unnamed Quirk originally held by Tenko Shimura, before being stolen by All For One, and later re-inherited by Tenko, now known as Tomura Shigaraki.[1]
Description#
Accelerator Rings allows the user to generate yellow rings of energy from their hands and feet. After a variable delay, the rings release a burst of force in a single direction before dissipating. Through use of these rings, the user can launch themselves great distances and maneuver through the air via multiple directed activations of Accelerator Rings.
The Quirk provides tremendous acceleration, as when combined with other flight Quirks it enabled All For One to fly across Japan in a handful of minutes.[2] However, it can also provide precise aerial movement, displayed primarily by Tomura, through using several rings in different orientations simultaneously.[3] The sharp bursts of velocity generated by Accelerator Rings can also be used to deliver swift, crushing blows.[4]
The created rings can reach massive sizes, with rings the size of a building seen when the Quirk was used alongside numerous other Quirks in Omni-Factor Unleash to propel the massive form of All For One towards his target.[5]
The original strength of the Quirk is unknown, as it was stolen from the infant Tenko's body before it could be fully manifested.[6] Since being stolen, it has mingled with many of the other Quirks within All For One, and grew in strength dramatically, to the point that All For One never realized the Quirk was Tenko's.[1] Tomura himself would re-inherit this Quirk thanks to obtaining the stockpile of Quirks within All For One, also being unaware that it was his original Quirk.
Trivia#
- The Quirk's initial capabilities of flight makes it similar to Float, the Quirk of Tomura's grandmother, Nana Shimura.
- It also shares similarities to Slide and Glide, as both Quirks create rings that exhibit repulsion forces that can allow the user to fly.
