Synopsis#

My Hero Academia: Vigilantes#

Vigilantes Beginnings Arc#

The first time Onemu appears is when Ingenium tries to catch the Bat Villain. She is seen among many other sidekicks as Ingenium explains to Koichi the nature of his Agency.

During Ingenium's second chase of the Bat Villain, she is sent along with other members of the team to pursue the enemy once he reveals he is not only a runner, but also has wings, and flies away from the initial trap deployed by Team Idaten. The Villain manages to evade several sidekicks, including Onemu herself, before he is defeated and captured by the Naruhata Vigilantes, who tie him up and hand him over to the Team Idaten for his imprisonment. Onemu is seen among the Sidekicks that find the captured Villain.[1]

Vs. Queen Bee Arc#

When the Villain Kuin Hachisuka injects Trigger into a cat with a Quirk, causing him to merge with a bus full of people and go out of control, Team Idaten intervenes on the scene. Onemu is seen trying to placate the passengers previously rescued by Enigma.[2]

Sky Egg Arc#

Months later, Tensei is invited to participate in Captain Celebrity's farewell party at Tokyo Sky Egg, and he decides to bring his whole team with him[3].

When the building is attacked by Bombers, Ingenium splits his team to help the heroes during the attack, either by assisting them in the fight against the villains or to keep the spectators calm and avoid panic. Onemu is seen among the latter group.[4]

Naruhata Lockdown Arc#

Several years later, the cunning activities of the villain Number 6 cause a series of incidents that end with Kazuho Haneyama hospitalized after being turned into the new host of the Queen Bee, and the police station having suffered a bombing. Although not responsible, Naomasa Tsukauchi knows that Koichi Haimawari is related to these incidents, so he obtains an arrest warrant for "The Crawler".[5] To arrest him, Naomasa contacts several heroes, including Ingenium and his Team Idaten.

Koichi's allies warn him of this intent so he can run and hide. Team Idaten is deployed,[6] and it doesn't take Ingenium too long to catch up to Koichi on the highway. The Crawler tries to evade the Team's pursuit down an alleyway, but Ingenium had already foreseen this, having deployed his sidekicks through the alleys of Naruhata to corner him. Onemu is seen among this group as they converge on Koichi, who are able to escape them by blasting up into the sky.[7]

Abilities#

Not much is known about her abilities or Quirk.

Trivia#

  • Onemu's name can be read as Sleep late at night, a reference to her appearance.
  • Her name, design, and her Quirk as described in her original concept draft, is likely a play on the idea of "counting sheep" in order to induce sleep.
  • Similar to Bubble Girl, Centipeder, Enigma and Bigshot, she came from a design submitted for an official hero design contest. She was designed by YY_hatena.[8]
  • According to Onemu's original design by YY_hatena:
  • Her Quirk is described as, "When Onemu yawns, anyone within a 5-meter radius falls asleep for a set amount of time. It is a reliable solution for those with insomnia. She can put them to sleep anytime, anywhere."
  • Her ram horns are part of the hero costume design to evoke a sheep motif. They are purely decorative rather than a mutation.
  • Onemu lacks physical stamina, which makes her unsuited for direct combat. The concept is that enemies are charmed by Onemu's appearance and put to sleep when they approach.
