NHA Reporter

ArticleSource revision

The NHA Reporter is an unnamed reporter who works for NHA TV.

Eight years following the Final War, she has become a news anchor.

Appearance#

The NHA reporter is a young woman with large black eyes and medium-length brown hair styled in a ponytail. She wears a formal suit with an armband on her left arm labeled "NHA". She frequently carries a microphone, which is also labeled with "NHA".

Eight years later, her ponytail is now curly, she has styled her bangs, and instead of a formal suit she now wears a light blue blouse with short, frilly sleeves while working.

Personality#

The NHA reporter initially only wanted to enter U.A. to interview All Might, his students, and his co-workers, and believed that controversy would bring in good ratings. Eventually, she would risk her safety to report on the battles of the Final War as they were happening live, and give up her helicopter to escort a wounded Uravity to a hospital.

Synopsis#

U.S.J. Arc#

The NHA reporter, along with many other reporters, surrounded U.A. High School to ask about All Might's whereabouts.[1] She hounded Izuku Midoriya, Ochaco Uraraka, and Tenya Ida with questions about what All Might is like as a teacher. She sees Katsuki Bakugo and asks if he's the same boy from the Sludge Villain incident. Shota Aizawa shoos her and the other reporters away; when she tried to enter U.A., its barrier detects that she does not have a pass nor student ID and locks her and the other reporters out.

Later that same day, Tomura Shigaraki secretly destroyed the U.A. barrier, allowing her and the other reporters to return as Shota and Hizashi Yamada try to shoo them away again.

U.A. Sports Festival Arc#

The NHA reporter and her cameraman wait in line for the U.A. Sports Festival.

Her cameraman remarks that the U.S.J. Incident has led to increased security measures. She tells her cameraman that controversy brings good ratings and is excited to see Class 1-A since they were the ones attacked by the League of Villains.[2]

Vs. Hero Killer Arc#

The NHA reporter and her cameraman are riding in a helicopter, reporting on the damage done by the Nomu in Hosu City. The reporter states that she is unsure if the damage was an accident or from Villain attacks.

She tells her cameraman to keep filming, during which they see Kurogiri and Tomura on a roof. NHA TV sends the footage to Daikaku Miyagi, who, as he is reporting on Stain's capture, reports a link between the Hosu attack and the U.S.J. attack.[3]

Pro Hero Arc#

The NHA reporter is the one who announces the Hero Billboard Chart JP and introduces the Top 10 Pro Heroes as they walk onto the stage. She notes that any Hero who took part in the Kamino Incident has had their rankings rise, noting that Best Jeanist has risen to Number 3, even despite being out of commission for a few months as a result, with many wishing for his return.[4]

Final War Arc#

The NHA reporter and a different camerawoman are in a helicopter above the Gunga Mountains, reporting the battles going on. She notes to her camerawoman that when she saw Izuku in the news during his stint as a vigilante, she remembered him from the interview she did before the U.S.J. attack. She cries at how Izuku has changed from their last encounter, when he was a timid boy. Her camerawoman notices another news helicopter also reporting the battles, containing a reporter who questioned the Top 3 Heroes after the Paranormal Liberation War.[5]

She and the camerawoman watched in horror as Himiko Toga unleashed an army of Twice clones and in awe as Uravity's Quirk awakened; the camera ran out of battery at the conclusion of their battle, during which Toga sacrificed her life to save Uravity's. Later, as the injured and unconscious Heroes are taken hospitals for medical attention, both news helicopters arrive at Gunga. The NHA reporter lends her helicopter for Pixie-Bob to escort a barely alive Uravity and another injured hero, as Froppy, Tiger, and the camerawoman watch worryingly. She tells this information to the reporter and cameraman in the other helicopter, who find Hawks and Tsukuyomi.[6]

Epilogue Arc#

Eight years later, the NHA reporter is now an anchor instead of a field reporter. She announces that Deku's return to hero work was warmly welcomed, that he is now the Number 4 hero, his epithet of the "One For All Hero", and that Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight has risen to being Number 5.[7]

Trivia#

  • In Episode 9, the reporter's microphone and arm band are erroneously labeled as "HNA" instead of "NHA".
  • A reporter with an identical design as the NHA Reporter, except for having blonde hair instead of brown, and her arm band being labeled as simply "HA", appears in My Hero Academia: Two Heroes as one of the people asking All Might for autographs. It is unclear if these differences meant this was supposed to be a different reporter created through asset reuse, or if they were simply an animation error.
  • The anime's credits only call the NHA Reporter the "Female Reporter", even in episodes where other female reporters appear.
  • In the original simuldub release of Episode 156's English dub, the NHA Reporter was initially voiced by Ezra Vervin instead of Kristen McGuire as intended, due to the character being internally mislabeled as new instead of returning. After the staff caught the error, Kristen re-recorded the character's lines.
  • Kristen McGuire also voices Tatami Nakagame and Tamashiro.
