Guardian Deity of the Green Valley is the eleventh chapter for My Hero Academia: Team-Up Missions, written and illustrated by Yoco Akiyama.
Summary#
Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo are accompanying Mt. Lady and Kamui Woods on their current Team-Up Mission, walking in a forest. Mt. Lady asks if this was a path and they might be getting lost. Izuku then wonders if there is a village ahead, in which Mt. Lady comments it should be a place since she's supposed to see some big action. Kamui Woods then says that this is the only way to the village they were assigned to since the main road had been blocked off by an avalanche.
Kamui Woods shows the way to the village, and as they arrive there, Izuku spots a huge tree and recognizes it as No Yakushima Cedar, thinking that All Might would've loved it. Katsuki then slams Izuku's face to the tree, since Izuku is blocking Katsuki's view of the mountains.
All of a sudden, a girl shouted at them and hits Izuku and Katsuki with a log for harming the tree. Mt. Lady asks Kamui Woods if they should step in and Kamui Woods agrees.
Once the misunderstanding is cleared, the girl apologizes for mistaking them for Villains before revealing her name as Kodama, the priestess who guards the sacred tree; Katsuki is also being restrained by Kamui Woods. Kodama then lets the rest of the village know it's safe to approach the two and the other Heroes.
The villagers were ecstatic to finally see Heroes in person, even some of them though they only existed on the TV. This is because there hasn't been a crime committed in the village in about 30 years, which led Izuku to question why they wanted the Heroes to come. The mayor of the village sits down and tells them to get started. Kamui gives Mt. Lady a shovel and makes her do the hauling of tools and resources. She gets offended for being treated basically no better than a dump truck.
Later in the day, Kodama uses her plant healing Quirk to heal the Sacred Tree, as part of her sacred duty as the tree's priestess, explaining how important the ancient plant is for her and the entire village, making Izuku comment the tree is Kamino-ga-fuchi's own Symbol of Peace.
She takes part in the celebration organized for the Heroes at the village's meeting hall as thanks for their help planting trees. However, a storm hits the village and causes a large landslide, forcing the Heroes to evacuate Kamino-ga-fuchi before the village is completely destroyed. As the villagers ask to save the Sacred Tree, Kodama cooperates with Izuku, Katsuki, and Mt. Lady to safely eradicate the tree and transport it to safety. When Izuku jumps the crevasse that separates the land of the village from a safer part of the valley, it appears he might not make it across while carrying both Kodama and the tree, and Kodama tries to make him let her go to ensure he can succeed. Izuku dissuades her, declaring he will save both, and manages to actually land safely.
Later, Kodama uses her Quirk once again to heal the Sacred Tree, ensuring it will survive, and declares hopefully that, despite the village being destroyed by the landslide, they have what matters. Izuku agrees, assuring them the Sacred Tree will protect them.
