The Depth is an omake chapter included in the My Hero Academia: Ultra Archive: The Official Character Guide by Kohei Horikoshi.
Summary#
After the end of terms exam, all the students in Class 1-A watch their matches against the teachers. Hanta and Denki try to get Katsuki to join them in an activity but he tells them off. Katsuki is furious about how he and Izuku passed solely due to Izuku performing a last minute punch on All Might and saving him again while he was knocked unconscious. He then hears someone talking to him from behind and yells thinking that it's Izuku. However, it is Ochaco, who proclaims she could detect his angry "Bakugo Aura". She notes he's gotten even more angry than before and asks what's wrong, but Katsuki yells at her. She questions why he can't just try being nice to Izuku given their former friendship, but Katsuki refuses to befriend a loser like him again.
Ochaco states how cool Katsuki was in their match, but loses himself to his anger whenever Izuku is mentioned and says that his anger and hatred of him is actually just jealousy towards his growth. She wonders if Katsuki fears Izuku for his potential and that Katsuki constantly acts angry and spiteful to him as a way to mask his own insecurities towards him. Katsuki furiously yells at her and Izuku when he shows up to class.
Later, in Midnight's class, Ochaco thinks to herself that she is surprised she said all that to Katsuki, while Katsuki is angry over what Ochaco said to him.
