All Might Rising

ArticleSource revision

All Might Rising is a one-shot spin-off manga written and illustrated by Kohei Horikoshi, that serves as a prequel to My Hero Academia: Two Heroes, included in the Volume Origin tie-in book.

Summary#

In July, Nana Shimura pushes away her young pupil and asks Gran Torino to take care of him. All For One looms over her, looking to put an end to her last stand with the full extent of his power. Gran Torino flies away with Toshinori Yagi, as the young man cries out for his master. Nana points at him and departs some final words of encouragement, before All For One thanks her for the "entertainment", ending her in a flash of light that completely decimates the island.

Toshinori was forced to say goodbye to his master at age 18. Gran Torino trains Toshinori indoors during a rainstorm, giving him a rough beating while reminding the young hero that he can't fight against All For One despite his feelings. Toshinori cries and mourns the death of his motherly figure, unable to do anything to save her. Gran Torino tells Toshinori once he graduates from U.A. to go to America, where he'll be out of All For One's reach. He reminds him that Nana sacrificed herself because she believed in his power.

Toshinori graduates in the Spring and travels to America. He changes his hair to stand straight up and dons his master's signature smile. He promises to return to Japan after gaining all his might, only then can he say "I Am Here!"
